20+ years of rock solid internet service. I would have told you they were great just a few months ago. But, made a trivial small change to our account and it was like the dam burst. Horrible hold times, total failure to deliver the change, never got anyone to correct the bill. I spent over 30min on hold 4 separate times, giving up. My wife just spent over an hour on hold, no one answered. Sent emails. No response. Tried multiple avenues, all failed. They are overcharging us now by 30/month. Terrible, terrible customer service. Horrible! They make it exrucitating just to have an appointment to setup wifi at your place. When you want to add someone to the account they cancel your appointment!!! Who does that! Then when you reschedule you have to wait another whole week for wifi? Also, when you want to cancel you have to wait another 10 min and repeat multiple times that you want to cancel. The fact that one cant even make payment via their website but only either by phone & or mail should tell you how disorganized this company is. I've had a very frustrating experience with TDS. They charged a $32 fee for phone services on a vacation property where we don't even live, something we neither needed nor agreed to. When I tried to address the issue, the customer service was extremely poor. Long wait times and unhelpful responses only made things worse. On top of that, our bill kept increasing over time with no clear explanation, just odd and unexplained fees. The company does not seem transparent or customer focused. TDS started off much better, but over time it became unreliable and, frankly, not trustworthy. I still had to pay $40 more than the original bill, so I decided to cancel our service with them. FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER!! We paid the initial month plus a prorated month when we got service, then the actual 1st months bill was $35 higher than promoted. Then got a bill for 2 months, over $300 and was told we never paid the 1st month, was told it would be removed and them my bills started going up, first it was $10, then $20 then $40 and when I tried to find out why, put on hold and then disconnected, 6 times in one day!! Ok. While I am getting a 3 year locked price, the customer service and common sense are awful. I use auto-pay, the system shorted payment by $0.05 (5 cent) then I get an email that I owe it or I will get a late fee. But I use auto-pay, TDS did it, not me. A 48+ minute call to Customer Service and he could NOT give a rip that I was upset. Write it off, no, that is not what they are doing, the 5 cent stays there and the fix it with a late fee waiver. I spoke with a representative over two weeks ago and was quoted a price of roughly $100.00 for 1 gig. I advised that I was not interested in that hefty charge for 1 gig! I then advised him that there was an ad online back in March of 2024 advising of 1gig for 29.95. He persisted to tell me that I have to have read that wrong. I asked him for his email address to send him the details...he was not going to provide that. We ended on agreeing at $60/ month for 1gig instead of 100. Somehow the price dropped! Anyway, I wait my two weeks until my appointment date of 6/7/2024 8-10am. The morning of, 10am rolls around, I've received no cal, no email or text to advise of late arrival or even a reschedule anytime within this period. I called the customer service and the representative advised that they tried to call me twice on Monday for directions from a 1-800 number. There was no such number on my call log, at all! The first representative stated that they needed directions to my place & it's already rescheduled for Monday. I am upset and she puts a manager on the line. I asked the manager, if my appointment was rescheduled, as the previous representative just advised, why was I notified. Even if the call was a fail, what about the text & email options?! There was no good answer for that at all! I am horribly disappointed & disgusted with their service that I REFUSE to have any parts of! TDS needs better customer service, doesn't value its customers, and you'll likely have a bad experience with the company. TDS is unreliable and doesn't value its customers (but is more concerned about collecting their money). We reached out to TDS in August, and they missed multiple appointments (no call no show). We even missed a day of paid work because of TDS. Then TDS just showed up in October for installation (no appointment). By the way, this was after multiple calls of long hold times and hung-ups without a callback. The worst mistake we ever made with TDS was to move forward with the installation, thinking we'd at least trial the service. The customer service was so horrible that we didn't even use the internet. We eventually canceled their service 7 days after their free cancellation window. Of course, they won't remind you of that... Plus, TDS records conveniently only show documented events that benefit TDS, not actual events or the customer's experience. Regardless, we got a ridiculous bill from TDS which they refused to waive. TDS even wanted to increase the bill for equipment (that was already returned using their prepaid shipping). We were 7 days late canceling the account per their 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee yet TDS was 30+ days late to deliver. We are committed that TDS will not have any business from us in the future. I should have listened to the other negative reviews. Don't make the same mistake that I made, listen to the other reviewers and stay far, far away from TDS. I have had the problem with random price increases, undisclosed fees, slow internet and an extremely difficult online payment system which forces you to log in with an email address that THEY assign to you - senseless in 2019, but I digress. Today takes the cake. Today, my cable and internet have been disconnected even though I pay my bill monthly. When I finally figured out that it wasn't an outage and was in fact a disconnection, it took 40 minutes to reach a live person at TDS only to be told that they have no record of my (online) payment. I pulled up my bank account and verified that I had made my last payment on the 15th of April - and was told by an extremely condescending customer service person "Maam, it is not our fault if you put in the wrong account number and your payment was credited to someone else's account." This towering intellect could not seem to grasp that it was, in fact, TDS's fault. She doggedly insisted that I entered the wrong account number somehow. First of all genius, I am paying through your online bill payment system after I log into my TDS account with the email address you provided to me. I have done this monthly for nearly two years with no issue. Somehow, last month my account magically paid someone else's bill? Gee whiz, I want to apply that magic to my mortgage payment! Secondly, after I contacted my bank and emailed TDS proof of payment, I am told they will "look into it". No guarantee of a time frame and an even stronger accusation that I had brought this upon myself by mixing up account numbers - somehow. Given that the last person I dealt with was an intellectual cross between a cabbage and a slug, I don't have high hopes of it getting fixed today, or next month even. I will be calling hourly until they tell me something definite and I expect they will try to slap me with fees or something. It's really hard to believe that in 2019 an electronic payment could be totally misplaced, but if anyone can accomplish the ludicrous, it's TDS! I will be calling Comcast when I get home. Do not use TDS as your internet provider. I paid for their 300mb package and at max got 25mb, most of the time I got under 10mb. They scheduled a tech I missed by 10 minutes (12 - 5) you know, one of those miss work all day because we don't care things and they would not send the tech back. Use anyone else. read more

I wish there was a way to give TDS less than a one star rating. In my dealings and opinion for having TDS for 10 months, they do not deserve any Star rating. There customer service you might as well say does not exist. When you have to wait on hold for 2 hours and 40 minutes then to be disconnected as they pick up is really said. On their voice recording when you call in, it states you can do certain things online with them. Well, I did and learned by email not a real person phone call four days later that I needed to contact them by phone with additional information. Here went another part of one of my days waiting on the phone for 2 hours and 32 minutes. Come to find out, the calendar they have for you to schedule service is not accurate. To schedule someone to come out, you have to call it in to get on a different calendar. Wow, they are so misleading on so many things. The sad thing is, where I live, the builders only let TDS wire the neighborhood for internet and TV service. True, I can get a dish service, but I want internet and not dish internet service. I have TDS in Mount Juliet TN. The vilest customer service I have ever experienced! I am currently on call number 3 to try and figure out why my bill doubled. The girl was extraordinarily rude. How does some keep a job like that? The other girl could not explain to me why my bill had doubled and put me on hold for 25 minutes. I called about this same issue last month as well. If I could just talk to a real employee....This is the worst customer service ever. I am always having to fight to get add on charges off my account. It is constant. Worst Cable Provider Ever!!!! I signed up for a new service connection in May of this year. They called me back and said all of their service techs were working on other things and couldn't hook me up for a couple of weeks. May moved to June and I called back. They said all of their service techs were busy. June moved to July ..... still all service techs are busy. It is now August and guess what? All service techs are still busy. I wrote a contact email hoping I would get another channel into the company and it has gone unanswered for 3 weeks. TDS was already the internet provider to our house when we bought it so I assume it would be a 15 minute job to connect. Heck ... If I could give zero stars I would. I have now had my appointment pushed back twice due to their lines not being dropped at my location yet. I started a request with them for new service the end of July it is now the end of September and I STILL do not have internet. When they pushed my first appointment back, they had zero empathy. Claiming how slammed they are right now because of all the requests with COVID and offered to give me one months service on them. Which would be great, if I EVER receive service from them. I wanted to run as far and as fast away from Xfinity as humanly possible but this company is FAR worse than the Xfinity. They came out and completely dug up my front yard, it is an absolute mess with bare spots and grass cut up everywhere. Then a sales man by the name of Kenneth Sheffield came to my house (yea during covid) and told me he isn't supposed to knock on the door however he wanted to sign me up for service. I took his flyer and called him maybe 2 weeks later. He never responded, he still hasn't responded. So i went to their website to sign up and signed up, and got an install date for 9/17 - today (9/14) i got a notice saying the install will happen on 10/5 wait what about 9/17? I am a new customer to TDS in Mount Juliet Tennessee. Of course, initiating the new account went smoothly. Unfortunately for me, attempting to contact any customer service rep who is helpful has been more than a challenge. The rate I was quoted for a monthly fee for Internet and TV service has not been honored. I have made several attempts to call the office and find out the reason for the discrepancy. I am either on hold forever, or when I did speak with someone she didn't seem to understand my question. It was quite simple, why am I being charged more than I was quoted? She put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back to tell me that she calculated the invoice and it's correct as is without any explanation as to why it differs from the original quote. It is difficult at best to get through initially and then to connect with someone who has no expertise is quite frustrating. I recommend staying with Comcast/Xfinity. read more

UPDATE 1/17/2017: It appears to me that work has been done on the network and TV is working a lot better now. though for some reason there are periods of data rate fluctuation that I cannot account for on my end. My network runs at its normal rate, but download speeds slow to about 20% of the normal rate at random times. But still usable and the slowdowns don't tent to last very long. At least for now, the service appears to be getting better. ORIGINAL POST: Why can't things just work they way they are promised?!? First off, I was ecstatic to leave Comcast/Xfinity, but my first warning was the 2 year contract... then the fact that I HAD TO get a phone number and phone service ($15/mo) that I didn't want nor have I used, not even once. The wired tv service could not play DVR programming on any of the remote tvs without pixelating the image or just outright losing connection to the DVR. After multiple visits for the techs, I was given all new hardware (losing recorded programs on the old DVR), nothing changed. A few more visits and they changed me over to wireless remote consoles... that worked for a few days then control of the remote units became problematic. I have to press each selection (Channel Change, Play, Pause, FF, RW, Guide, Menu...) Multiple times... and not just 2 or 3 times, but 12 - 15 times to pause a show... This is on all of the remote units and with multiple remotes. Of course you can't administer the TV Wireless router so can't test for local interference... They have been out to my house several times and it works sporadically but less than the times when it doesn't. On the plus side, their internet service is fairly stable (better than Comcast), but that is not enough to stop me from exploring alternatives... Unfortunately, TDS has some ridiculous exclusivity contract with my city that blocks AT&T from offering TV or Internet in my community. Just far too frustrating!!! You have to wait on hold for at least 20 mins before they then pass you on to "another department" only for that person to ask "well the person that transferred you is the one to fix this problem" They charge you for services you did not agree to. Constantly have issues with the quality of TV and the incoming feed will freeze and get glitchy. I hear so many complaints on a daily basis here in Mount Juliet, TN about TDS. They are horrible, stay away from them and use another provider of you can. For the most part, I have been ok with the quality of TV and Internet but something has to change with the help you get (our don't get) from customer service. Called all afternoon and got several stories: the tech was missing and they didn't know where he was (!); we were still "pending" and he was on his way; the rep couldn't get dispatch on the phone so couldn't get an ETA; but he'd be there. Finally spoke with another supervisor who said "Dispatch closes at 5:00 pm Central, no one is coming today. But I'll put you on expedited for Tuesday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm." Today they told my husband we'd never had an appointment for today (Tuesday) but were scheduled for Thursday. THEN they said "Oh we don't service your area at this time." Run. Run far away. Low end service, low end equipment and predatory billing practices. Their internet throttles from as low as 6 mbps to the contracted 300 mbps, they refused to support the TDS wireless router I was renting (they told me they only support up to the modem), their TV service often freezes up (internet based), their infra red TV remotes only work at very close range (the newer radio wave version is a $20 per unit upgrade) and most incredibly, I had to move to a neighborhood not serviced by TDS before the 2 year contract was up so they forced the $221.95 early termination fee on me. I have moved from other service providers in the past and ALL OF THEM waived that fee. Too bad for TDS, I warned the next tenants moving into the house after me and they are going with the other service provider in the neighborhood.
