The place was filthy--napkin holders were covered in grime, with food particles actually inside them. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned EVER, based of the tables were gross, and there was sauce splattered on both the floor and walls. My go-to spot for treating myself. I usually order the oolong milk tea with boba and 30% sugar. Service is quick. Accepts cash/card. My husband wanted to try something he has never had here before so he ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. There are SO many places to get bubble tea but Tea Do is by far my husband and my fav place for several reasons: 1. Consistency - they always have everything on the menu and it's perfect every time (you'd be surprised at how some other places are always out of certain ingredients...one place that I won't name ran out of bubbles.) 2. Fast moving - this place is popular, and I understand why but the wait is never ridiculous and I appreciate that 2. Variety - they're always coming up with cute and tasty specials I just wish there was more seating. There is a bit but it's always so packed that you sort of end up standing in a corner listening out for your number. I personally think this place is better than Kung fu Tea. I go to kung fu tea in the suburbs often since it's close to my house. When Tea Do first opened, I really didn't think it was that great until I had it yesterday. The flavor of the tea and the toppings are just wayyyy better compare to the kung fu tea. Solid bubble tea spot. It's almost always busy and seems to be a popular spot among older teens and young adults. I think that's largely due to its ambience since it's decorated to give off more of a club / bar vibe. But unfortunately, they seem to have a hard time keeping up with the crowd. During our visit, trash cans were overflowing, tables were dirty, and empty cups were strewn on the floor. They have some pretty interesting flavors. We tried "green" coconut which the staff described as "same as regular coconut but sweeter." What she meant is like coconut but with more of that cloyingly sweet, candy taste you get from artificial sweeteners. Not my favorite, I'd stick with regular coconut. We also got sesame, which is a favorite of mine at any bubble tea spot. Theirs was particularly nutty, which I loved. My sister got the tiger milk special, which she said was pretty standard. I didn't try it, but visually, I do wish they had more brown sugar "tiger stripes" for aesthetics. Overall, pretty good place, but crowded and messy. read more

My experience at Tea-Do was just okay. I ordered the tiger milk tea and hoping that it would be like the brown sugar bubble tea. That wasn't it. It tasted like normal black milk tea. The boba was chewy but some of the pieces were slightly firm in the middle. As for the tea itself, it was sweet but mild in the tea flavor. The shop itself was not a good place to hang out. The giant window opens and I've seen it slam shut before with a huge gust of wind. No one was hurt and nothing damaged, just unsettling. Seemed like the bubble tea bar to be at so my girlfriend and I decided to step in on a warm winter day recently. The place was poppin' as the young kids say as there were plenty of people inside and more coming in every few minutes. The place and menu sort of reminded me of Kung Fu Tea in NYC. The menu was diverse, but didn't have a lot of drinks on it or as many as I had hoped for or seen at other bubble tea spots in NYC. I went with the Red Bean smoothie because I'm a Red Bean smoothie fanatic, but it was just OK here. It wasn't anything spectacular or close to the best Red Bean smoothie I had ever tried, but it wasn't the worst either. It was somewhere in that middle area. The smoothie utilized the smooth slushie ice, which I like, but the flavoring was not the best. With the lack of bubble tea bars in Philly's Chinatown I can see why Tea Do gets a majority of the bubble tea fans. As I scrolled through their list of specialty drinks, I felt like I could just as easily could have been skimming through the cocktail menu at a happy hour somewhere. Tropical Twister, First Love, Fire Dragon...all that was missing were the truffle fries and $1 oysters! Of course, the latter would be a little weird for a boba joint... Now in fairness, I already know I didn't order the best drink to evaluate Tea Do on. My go-to order of Black Milk Tea with boba is my usual measuring stick since it's pretty standard and a staple sort of drink. However, since I had a hankering for something sweeter, I went off the specialty menu and ordered a large GRASSHOPPER ($5), which included Green Apple, Pear with Green Tea, and Lychee Jelly. The combination of ingredients sounded pretty good and I knew it would satisfy my craving. Unfortunately though, it did too good of a job. While I really liked the mix of fruity and green tea flavors, it was simply too sweet. If they took out the apple and/or put in less lychee jelly, the drink would have actually been pretty good. As it was though, it was okay but refreshing (it was pretty muggy out). Since I'm not familiar with Philadelphia, I can't say how Tea Do ranks against nearby competitors, but it seems like a pretty decent spot.
