I had a friend visit from out of town who has a list of dietary restrictions; sugar free, dairy free and gluten free. She had heard about PS & Co so we had to stop by. The service and sweet treats are absolutely incredible. We were greeted by the owner who took her time to walk her through the ingredients, cross contamination possibilities and the menu as a whole. She was patient, informative and seemed genuinely excited to help serve us. It was fairly busy inside with a large dining area and small pantry section. While we didn't sit down for a full meal, the treats we took to go were fabulous. My friend raved that everything was made perfectly and tasted delicious. I tried a bit of everything and you'd have no idea that the items were gluten, sugar and dairy free! The berry muffin was better than "normal" muffins I've had. Everything was so good that after we finished our treats, we went back in for seconds! If you have similar dietary restrictions (or don't) this is a great place to stop with a lovely staff! Save your money and don't come here. On all scales this place sucked. Came here for bagels. The staff was not friendly, very cold. The service took forever for bagels to be toasted which is done in the kitchen and not in the front. On top of that, it is overly expensive (24 dollars for 2 bagels), they also do not put the cream cheese on it for you, and then charge extra for utensils. And then the worst part of all, the amount of cream cheese you get is pathetic. I see why they don't put it on the bagel for you, it's because they're probably trying to save on the amounts they would have to use. What a fail. read more

All I have to say is: please get the banana bread. It is SO moist, so full of flavor, and keeps me from missing gluten. I also got the tahini chocolate chip cookie, and the flavor on that guy was also a 10/10. The prices are extremely steep, but I get it.. gluten free products are more expensive everywhere, so I understand why they may have to price things the way they do. However, this definitely wouldn't be a frequent stop for me just because of the prices. This is a "once in a while" treat, but the treats are indeed delicious! read more

I appreciate the owner taking the time to respond, but I do want to clarify one point because I don't think my feedback was interpreted correctly. My concern wasn't that I wanted more buttercream. It was actually the opposite. I felt the square slice had far too much frosting on top and not nearly enough actual cake, which made the ratio feel unbalanced. The response stated that I "didn't enjoy the ratio (more cake and filling, less buttercream)," but that wasn't what I was trying to say at all. I'm disappointed that my feedback seemed to be misunderstood or misrepresented. I completely understand that ingredient costs have increased, and I genuinely respect PS & Co.'s commitment to using high-quality ingredients. My concern wasn't about the price alone, it was about the value and quality of this particular dessert compared to what I've had from them in the past. More broadly, I hope this isn't part of a larger shift away from some of their trademark desserts. I was also disappointed when the chocolate chip muffin was discontinued, as it was one of my favorites. I still think PS & Co. offers some of the best gluten-free and vegan desserts in the city, which is why I'm sharing this feedback. Love that all of their baked goods in the case are GF. I got the protein cc muffin and a banana bread plus a cold brew, black. Flavor on the coffee was great and it was really easy to drink without any added milk (sadly no animal milk at this location). I was so excited that we were staying across the street from a gf df cafe. When I walked in, I was so excited to see the sweets that were all allergen free! I dined in and the menu was expansive, especially when you consider all offerings were allergen free. I rarely see GF French toast, so I ordered that with the bacon and scrambled tofu. The French toast was the true star of the show. It was the best French toast I've ever had. It was thick and flavorful and the berries were fresh and sweet. I could've done without the bacon. The scrambled tofu did really taste like eggs and were pretty good. I was full from the one meal all day. We ordered a number of sweets, which were all really good. The chocolate chip cookie, the cake slice and the carrot cake cupcake stand out. The only downside is the spot is pretty expensive. Otherwise, everything tasted great. Philly has an abundance of vegan options, and PS&Co has a special place in my heart for all the desserts the have. The dessert case always stops me in my tracks - there are so many treats from cookies, tarts, cakes and scones. My favorite was the matcha & passionfruit cake slice they had a few weeks back. The cake was gluten free and had so many different layers of flavor within the slice. Some of the desserts are definitely better than others, the mocha cookie tasted more like trail mix and the key lime pie has an excellent filling with a really hard crust. As for the acai, I can't justify charging nearly $20 for the acai bowl, especially since none of the ingredients in their bowls are outside the realm of what ordinarily comes in a smoothie bowl. My favorite dish is the tacos -- the multiple sauces with the fresh guacamole and jalapenos made every bite such an explosion of flavors. The bbq tempeh surprisingly does have a kick of spice to it, but I really enjoyed the sauce. For someone who loves salads, I wasn't a fan of the kale caesar as the kale leaves were bitter and not massaged/dressed with enough of the dressing. It was also pretty plain with just pickled red onions and tempeh. Salads are an opportunity to combine a variety of textures and flavors, and I think this one missed out on that opportunity. Unfortunately, the service when we dined in was unpleasant, our waitress was rude to the point I was genuinely surprised about how she didn't want to answer our questions. I can't in good faith drop this review to three stars when I salivate thinking about the tacos and the cake - but the other factors don't make me reluctant with these four stars. It's an overpriced vegan restaurant that's great for those with specific dietary needs, but I would go to other vegan spots as my first pick in the city. read more

Came to PS & Co for brunch on a Saturday morning with a friend. I was immediately distracted by the pastry case and while I was looking, the host came over and asked if we wanted to dine in (we had no reservation) but a table was open and we were seated immediately. The restaurant is cozy and feels comfy despite being busy. We ordered a cinnamon roll (my all time favorite) and the ginger salad to split. Both were huge portions! We did have to ask the server multiple times for our drinks, plates to share, water, but that aside, no complaints about this delicious brunch! I love how they have a lot of vegan and gluten free options, and they even had a special Lunar New Year menu when we were there - love that so much! read more

P.S. & Co. is the closest thing Philly has to a whole foods/plant-based restaurant, and it's pretty great! Their menu is entirely organic and gluten free. They also describe themselves as "plant-rich," a term new to me but that seems to mean food that glorifies the plant rather than focusing on fake meats or other highly processed foods. As someone who tries to follow the whole foods/plant-based diet, my only real criticism of the menu is the heavy reliance on vegan butter and other forms of coconut oil and coconut cream in the desserts and breakfast items. That being said, they do have some baked goods that contain only extra virgin olive oil, such as the black bean brownie and the banana bread. The brownie was fudgey and delicious; I wouldn't have suspected that it contained beans nor that it was gluten free. The iconic banana bread was also outstanding. I wish they would add an olive oil-based scone! Their social media focuses primarily on their bakery/pastry items, but the restaurant menu is not to be overlooked. I loved the amaranth pudding. $18 sounds like a lot for a bowl of porridge, but it ultimately felt worth it for such high-quality and clean ingredients, the fantastic taste, and the lovely presentation. The sides of tofu scramble and stewed chickpeas were also delicious and hearty and rounded out my brunch. Next time, I definitely want to delve more into the savory items, many of which are inspired by the owner Andrea's Burmese heritage. I had such a great experience at P.S. & Co. that I cannot believe I waited so long to try it. I think I may have mistakenly thought it was primarily a juice/smoothie bar or cake shop rather than recognizing it as the adorable, fully organic, health-conscious restaurant that it is. Regular patron here. Always enjoy their baked goods, iced coffees, and the lovely owner. Brought my family in today to buy some delicious looking tarts. Grabbed a lemon meringue and a passion fruit tart. Unfortunately while the passion fruit tart was being wrapped it fell upside down in the display case. I asked if I could take it if it was going to be thrown out. Was told I would still need to pay for it if I took it. I can only presume that it was going to be returned to the display case for someone else who didn't see it fall. PS & Co has a very nice, neighborhood ambience and is a nice spot for a quick, grab and go for a healthy snack or juice or for a nice afternoon meet up. This place is unbelievably good. We popped in yesterday for an early morning snack and had the nachos with tofu scramble. So good! Then today we went for brunch and had the burrito, tacos and chocolate chip pancakes. The tacos and burrito had tofu scramble in them with a cheddar type of cheese - OMG! Both were amazing with lots of flavor. The chocolate chip pancakes were good too. I'm not a pancake person, but wanted to taste them. When we were done we went to the counter for some to go's and got the focaccia pizza, brownies and cookies. Before we even left the store we tried the pizza and brownie. The brownie was hands down one of the best I've ever had and the pizza was just as I had hoped it would taste. Came back for the desserts. They are outstanding (for me, as I sensed beforehand )! The Rose Pistachio might be their "classic" baked good and it has the right amount of salt and sweetness to make it flavorful, possibly aromatic ( my sense of smell is kind of bad), and a pleasant taste that isn't too "bready." The Vanilla cake has what I thought was lavender cream but it could have been blackberry easily as that is listed on the online menu. Tahini chocolate chip- i like how the tahini meshed well with a delicious but otherwise overly typical chocolate chip cookie for me. The cupcake which looks nothing like carrot cake on the outside is delicious with the flavorful cream which I want to say is lavender but it could be way off. The decoration, display, and storage of take out for the dessert is on-point. Nothing fell apart and I wasn't expecting it to stay intact. I was provided containers. The whole process does match the price point well. This place could potentially be a top vegan bakery for me. read more

I am clarifying my review based on the organizations response. After ordering my smoothie, I I asked for a glass of tap water with ice while I wait. I specifically asked for tap water why I wait as the associate asked me "do you want tap water". There is NO REASON I should have been asked to pay a dollar for tap water. I come here all time, my complaint is not about the price of the smoothie, it's the notion that I should pay you an additional dollar for tap water with ice while I wait. This was hands down my most memorable meal of 2022. I came to PS and Co for breakfast after just getting off the train to Philly. When I walked in I was in awe of the dessert case filled with vegan desserts. I got a table and Meghan was my server. I absolutely loved her calm and peaceful voice. She instantly made me feel like a guest, and very welcome. I enjoyed a half coffee half hot chocolate drink. The chocolate was so rich!! You could tell they source only the best cocoa here. Although it was breakfast time, that Mac and cheese was calling my name. When the bowl was placed in front of me the aromatics from the green garnish instantly made me feel like I made the perfect choice for breakfast. I scraped my bowl clean making sure I devoured every last bit of that cheesy sauce. This mac and cheese definitely does not remind you of Kraft or maybe even your grandma's Mac and cheese. It tasted so elevated, fresh, and light. I loved that it was a tad spicy, extremely creamy, and it felt so nourishing. Sometimes you feel heavy after a bowl of Mac and cheese, and this meal truly energized me. For dessert I enjoyed the tahini chocolate chip cookie. This is officially the best cookie I have ever eaten in my life. It is $6 and worth every cent. I hope no one leaves this business without that cookie in their hand. It was a little salty, plenty sweet, and I loved the texture. It was crunchy without being too hard. I visited many places this weekend in Philly, and none of them give me as warm of memories as PS and Co. There is something so special about a business that crafts everything from scratch. Absolutely delicious pastries with wholesome ingredients! I found PS&Co a while ago while browsing gluten free places for pastries and couldn't wait to try them. When I got there I was greeted by wonderful aromas and super friendly staff! The lady who helped me was able to tell me which ingredients each product had so I could find one that perfectly fit my diet. I picked out the cinnamon roll and their white rose tea. The cinnamon roll was huge and covered in melting frosting. It was as tasty as it looked- a rich yeasty dough and generous cinnamon sugar topping. You'll probably have leftovers or bring a friend (that's never a bad thing). The white rose tea was delicate and mild. It wonderfully balanced the sweet pastry and just warms you up perfectly. I don't usually pay so much for tea, but this one was a beautiful looseleaf blend. I will certainly be coming back with more of my gluten-free (and non-gluten free) friends to try their savory and juice offerings. read more

Delicious!!! We were visiting from Orlando and we're so excited to see a fully vegan, gluten-free, AND organic restaurant!! Absolute Heaven. We came twice during our trip to Philly. Everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered the Forbidden Bowl each time. The potato leek soup was on special. We also tried the açaí bowl, Mac and cheese, and French toast- all amazing. My husband got a hot chocolate and that was delicious as well. The pasty case had lots of options that were refined sugar free- we got the black bean brownies, tahini choc. chip cookies, and a mocha pistachio cookie to share with our fam. I was so excited to try this place on a recent trip to Philly but it was a mixed bag on the food. I got the rose and pistachio scone which was fantastic. The flavors were light and the scone was moist. I've never been able to find a good gluten free scone. Because the scone was so good I tried the kale Caesar salad with bbq tempeh. We make kale Caesar's all the time at home and I was excited to find one out. The dressing was great but the kale was not prepped well with huge pieces and pieces of stem. Really struggled between and two and a three here, but feel there are a lot of easy fixes that can be implemented to take this place from so-so to great. Starting with the positives from my recent experience: + The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Bright, colorful, inviting, and comfortable seating. + There are very few options when it comes to finding completely vegan, kosher, and gluten free food. This is a food sensitive person's dream menu. + My mistake may have been not getting anything from the pastry case. Other folks came in and said the cookies were some of the best they've had. If I ever find myself in the neighborhood again, I would absolutely stop by for a treat between meetings. Note that they also have cakes and other assorted desserts as well. All vegan! As for the handful of things that rubbed me the wrong way: + During the lunch hour when I was there, it was incredibly confusing trying to figure out if I was supposed to wait to be seated, order at the counter, or something else. Staff seemingly had no interest in guiding anyone who came into the shop in the right direction, and it was honestly bizarre. Every patron had the same confounding experience as me when walking in. I can understand not having host staff if you have someone at the counter, but that counter person then needs to do some kind of greeting. Even when I walked up to the counter to order, no staff member seemed to have any interest in assisting me. I can understand if it was incredibly busy but I was the only person there. Again, odd. + I went with the kale caesar salad and let the team member know I planned to sit at the window and do some work. My salad still came in a to-go container (I guess because I needed to sit and have a server assist me, which I didn't know). + I didn't read any reviews before coming here and agree with other reviewers who recommend skipping the kale caesar salad. I was astonished to see it was just a huge mass of unprepped kale (not massaged, in large chunks) with a small smattering of pickled onions and dressing on the side. The buffalo tempeh that came with it was packed separately, and added almost nothing to the dish. It was tough, mealy, and also barely prepared -save getting heated up and tossed in sauce, which I did find good. The vegan caesar dressing was also excellent. + For what I got, the $20 pricetag was astronomical. Everything on the menu is priced about 20% higher than I feel it needs to be, though I typically understand and am willing to pay more for specialized ingredients - the math just didn't add up in this case. I really think this place could be incredibly special! I will be back again to try the desserts and update my review accordingly, though it will take a lot to get me back there soon given the price and menu. I still recommend going and trying for yourself, especially if you have dining mates with allergies or dietary restrictions. read more
