The most recent time I visited, I ordered their grapefruit green tea. The drink was refreshing and not too sweet. Let me preface by saying that when I rate bubble tea places, I usually compare them in relation to Kung Fu Tea because Kung Fu Tea's bubble tea isn't the best but it isn't the worst. It's not my go to spot it's always a safe option when that boba craving hits. And they have a good variety when it comes to milky and fruiter options. For additional context, I usually prefer fruit teas and adjust the sugar level (typically one level below 100% sweetness). After trying a handful of their drinks, I would rank Mr.Wish as being exponentially better than Kung Fu Tea. Mr. Wish is one of my favorite places to get bubble tea in Philly. They use fresh fruit in their drinks and you can really taste the difference whenever you order any of their fruit teas or smoothies. The tapioca pearls are also the best because they are the perfect chewiness and have the perfect amount of sweetness. Additionally, I like that the drinks, even at regular sugar levels are not that sweet. My rule of thumb is to adjust the sugar level to 60% if the fruit in the fruit tea is naturally sweet (i.e. mangos, lychee, peach, etc.) or if it is a milk tea. Otherwise, the regular sugar level is perfect, especially for the fruit teas, because you don't want the drink to taste diluted or too tart. Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Orange Grapefruit Fiber Jelly Tea with 60% Sugar*]: 60% sugar level is an acceptable level of sweetness but I think it would taste just as good if you didn't adjust the sugar level. The drink is very refreshing and I like all the toppings in the drink (basil seeds, lychee jelly, and aiyu jelly). - [3Q Milk Tea with 60% Sugar*]: Perfect sugar level. If you like milk teas, I would recommend this. The milk teas at Mr.Wish are creamier than your typical milk tea. The 3Q toppings are lychee jelly, pearls, and pudding. - [Orange Green Tea with Aloe Vera and 60% Sugar*]: The sugar level was perfect. Refreshing but just sweet enough that you could appreciate the orange flavor with an equally refreshing topping. - [Snowy Pink]: Blended milk with a strawberry puree. Mr. Wish is my favorite chain for tea/boba. Their regular milk tea is the best compared to anywhere else. It's the perfect ratio of tea (strong) and milk. They soak the tapioca pearls in a sweet syrup, so I'm perfectly content with getting the pearl milk tea with no sugar (you can customize the sugar level and the amount of ice for almost any drink on the menu). The tapioca often taste fresh and not too hard or mushy. The other drinks on the menu are great too with many fresh fruit tea options instead of the powdered stuff at other shops. Customer service isn't always consistent but not horrible. I don't bother going anywhere else in Philly anymore since the quality is pretty consistent here. read more

I was walking out of Nam Phuong after having lunch thinking about how thirsty I was when I saw a horde of school children excitedly running towards and into Mr. Wish. So this two star review is for the take out portion of their business....I'm pissed off that $9 worth of drinks is wasted and a mess was made that I needed to clean up. I ordered 4 drinks as take out to bring home....but before I even got home...it was a mess in the car and bag. If I wasn't too busy cleaning up I would have taken a picture of the mess before I cleaned it up. The plastic cups are flimsy at best and cracked on the side so resulted in the drinks pretty much ended up in the bag and car. See pictures of the cup after I cleaned them out to throw out. Maybe have cup holders for large drinks instead of bagging them...I'm saddened because I do order to go more often then sitting on site to drink it... First off I will say that the brown sugar Boba tea should not be confused with tiger tea. the brown sugar boba definitely has that brown sugar flavor but it's really soaked into the tapioca balls. I don't believe they actually add anything extra to the drink it's just milk and brown sugar tapioca balls. At first I was expecting a slap in the face overwhelming flavor of brown sugar which is what I was really looking for but I didn't get that with this drink. Would I order it again? Only green tea was available. When the store is open they are supposed to be ready for any kinds of orders. Customer isn't supposed to wait for them to be ready. I tried to connect to WiFi by following the password on display but didn't work. The waffle cake has 3 varieties: plain, custard, and red beans. There's not much fillings as pictured in the poster. It's soft and nice when it's warm with crispness on the edges. I like red beans and the custard is my second best. After it's cold, it has lost the crispness. I tasted something artificial in it. I was in the mood for bubble tea and happened to pass a Mr. Wish location. I figured it was a sign from the universe. Outside the restaurant there were a few tables for customers to enjoy their drinks. Upon entering (masks are required), the tables were pushed to the back of the store which made for no indoor seating. There were large photos of various drinks for sale. It was a tad overwhelming, so I decided to go with a fruit tea with standard boba pearls to compare against Yaa's Fruitea. I decided to order a strawberry fruit tea (with regular boba) and a waffle. I went to the counter to order and the employee behind the counter was distracted. I stood there for a minute and the employees were chaotic and seemed like there was some sort of confusion. Finally the person behind the corner took my order. While I waited for my drink I saw a bunch of people come in and order and a few grub hub drivers pickup orders. After a 5 min wait my order was ready. I was pleasantly surprised to see real strawberry in my tea. The waffle was warm and yummy. So why a 3 star rating? The boba pearls were nowhere as good as Yaa's. They were way too soft and were a little chewy. Additionally the ice was kind of ground a bit too finely. This resulted in ice getting stuck in the straw which was frustrating when drinking my tea. I would suggest keeping ice whole so it would not get caught in the straw. I did appreciate the fact that they give you an option of how much ice you want and amount of sweetness. The ice, boba pearls, and chaos at the counter combined led to a 3 star rating. If Mr. Wish can address these issues I would definitely come back and give a higher rating. They are a chain so not sure if all locations have similar issues or just this one. The Peach and some other drinks are not as good as those amazing choices. My fave location is in Flushing Queens NYC, and it closed down. Mr Wish in Chinatown Philadelphia would not put the toppings we wanted in the drinks we wanted LOL. They reminded me of KFT in that regard. There is no reason on earth not to adjust things the way we want, but whatever. However, this one in South Philly were exceptionally friendly, and are the "last best Mr Wish still standing", if you like. We have been coming to Mr. Wish for bubble tea for years and it has always hit the spot. We first swung by after our first date (at nearby Nam Phuong) and since then have always visited whenever we were in the area. They always make our favorites (Oolong Bubble tea with 60% sugar, 3Q, or avocado smoothie) consistently, with excellent service. On super hot days, the Oolong soft serve is amazing, too. Most recently we contacted Tim, the owner, for a special delivery order: our wedding. He went out of his way to sit down with us and make sure he got the order and the delivery details perfectly. Suffice to say, our wedding day happened to be a very warm spring day, and Mr. Wish was an enormous hit. I used to come here often like a couple times a week to get my weekly dose of bbt. But the last couple of times that I came here the past year or so, my orders were always made wrong or the drinks tasted different from how it used to. My friends that go here also experienced the same things; orders made wrong. I've heard from at least 4 people that I know complain about how this place mess up orders frequently. One of them ordered a milk green tea with red bean toppings and they received pearl milk tea with red beans (its a combination of tapioca AND red bean toppings). I once ordered a honey lemon gt and the honey was missing or lack thereof so it was literally the sour lemon taste. Keep in mind we go to mr.wish oftennn so we know what our favorite drinks tasted like. Maybe it's new staffing issue since the people we used to recognize isn't there anymore.
