    Grapefruit Green Tea
    Karen G.

You can never go wrong with Mr Wish in Philly! I've been to this location a few times and each time the drinks have been consistently good. The most recent time I visited, I ordered their grapefruit green tea. The drink was refreshing and not too sweet. Additionally it was only around $5 for a medium, which is cheaper compared to some of the other options in the city. I also really appreciate that this branch has indoor seating and is very clean. The staff were also very pleasant.

Still my favorite boba place in the world (lol even against places I've been in Cali) Oolong milk tea (30% sugar, no ice) large $6.25 - strong tea flavor. Not just soft and milk. 3Q oolong soft serve ice cream $6.50 - really good flavor and texture this time. Texture is hit or miss though. Sometimes it can be too grainy or icy

Let me preface by saying that when I rate bubble tea places, I usually compare them in relation to Kung Fu Tea because Kung Fu Tea's bubble tea isn't the best but it isn't the worst. It's not my go to spot it's always a safe option when that boba craving hits. And they have a good variety when it comes to milky and fruiter options. For additional context, I usually prefer fruit teas and adjust the sugar level (typically one level below 100% sweetness). After trying a handful of their drinks, I would rank Mr.Wish as being exponentially better than Kung Fu Tea. Mr. Wish is one of my favorite places to get bubble tea in Philly. They use fresh fruit in their drinks and you can really taste the difference whenever you order any of their fruit teas or smoothies. The tapioca pearls are also the best because they are the perfect chewiness and have the perfect amount of sweetness. Additionally, I like that the drinks, even at regular sugar levels are not that sweet. My rule of thumb is to adjust the sugar level to 60% if the fruit in the fruit tea is naturally sweet (i.e. mangos, lychee, peach, etc.) or if it is a milk tea. Otherwise, the regular sugar level is perfect, especially for the fruit teas, because you don't want the drink to taste diluted or too tart. Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Orange Grapefruit Fiber Jelly Tea with 60% Sugar*]: 60% sugar level is an acceptable level of sweetness but I think it would taste just as good if you didn't adjust the sugar level. The drink is very refreshing and I like all the toppings in the drink (basil seeds, lychee jelly, and aiyu jelly). - [3Q Milk Tea with 60% Sugar*]: Perfect sugar level. If you like milk teas, I would recommend this. The milk teas at Mr.Wish are creamier than your typical milk tea. The 3Q toppings are lychee jelly, pearls, and pudding. - [Orange Green Tea with Aloe Vera and 60% Sugar*]: The sugar level was perfect. Refreshing but just sweet enough that you could appreciate the orange flavor with an equally refreshing topping. - [Snowy Pink]: Blended milk with a strawberry puree. The blended milk tasted like icy milk and the strawberry puree was a bit too sweet. - [Mango Smoothie with Pearls and 60% Sugar*]: Perfect to enjoy on a hot day. The pearls surprisingly do not harden in this drink. - [Grapefruit Green Tea*]: I like how refreshing this drink is. - [Peach Tea w. Fresh Pulp with Pearls and 60% Sugar*]: This is a really juicy drink. I like the combination of the peach chunks and the pearls. - [Kumquat Lemon Fiber Jelly Tea*]: Compared to the Orange Grapefruit Fiber Jelly Tea, this drink is more sour but still very good. - [Apple & Lemon Babo*]: I'm usually not a fan of drinks with sparkling water/soda because I don't like the carbonation but I thought this was quite good. I barely tasted any carbonation. I didn't think the regular sugar level was too sweet. You can't add toppings to this drink. - [Apple Tea w. Fresh Pulp with 60% Sugar]: I thought the drink was alright but the flavor was very similar to the Peach Tea w. Fresh Pulp but the Peach Tea is better because I like the chunks of peach in that drink. - [Tieguanyin (Oolong) Soft Serve w Brown Sugar 3Q*]: If you like tea, I would highly recommend this. The soft serve has a slight earthy flavor but it pairs really well with the brown sugar toppings for the right amount of sweetness. - [Wish Waffle Cake*]: When they used to have the flavor, I thought the matcha flavor was the best. I would recommend eating these as soon as you get them, otherwise, the waffle cake gets a bit soggy the longer you wait. Would I go back? : Without a doubt. The nice thing about Mr.Wish is that all of the locations have been pretty consistent in the quality of their drinks. In PA, I've been to 7 of their locations and they have all been equally good.

Upon entering, the inside is cute and simple. There's some indoor seating, but what stuck out to me was the option of some board games. I love little additions like that, makes it seem like a fun place to come with a friend or two! For my drink, I got a large colorful fruit tea and it's one of the best fruit teas I've had! Plenty of real fruit cut up inside, super flavourful, sweet and sour, it was super refreshing, filling, and good. I think there may have been grapefruit or another kinda-bitter fruit in the tea which is my only complaint, but that's a little personal preference and certainly didn't stop me from drinking it. I for sure recommend!

My favorite drink is their Snow strawberry! So delicious if it wasn't fixed sugar and is less sweet. The boba is soft and delicious. The interior is also very clean and lovely. You can even play games inside the store which was super fun to do with my family.

Great oolong soft serve. First two times it was grainy. But this time it was a great texture.

My favorite place to go for milk tea. I like all their drinks, especially the red bean pudding. Their flavors are real not artificial. They use real fruits and real teas, and their bobas are made fresh everyday. I also like how you can adjust the sugar levels here. Not every boba places offers that option. Highly recommended if you like boba milk tea or fruit teas.

These drinks are getting more and more expensive. As customers we expected the cup to fully fill.

$7-$8 per drink. Tea & water & some fruit juice or fruit pieces. Yet they can't even fill the cup fully.

The cashier is not that friendly today. I asked the colorful fruit tea. She looked at me and said "we re out of that", then I changed to the special fruit tea. She told me "go get in line" where there is no line. I just notice that there is a sugar tax adding into the drink, and there is an additional 8% tax on top of the drink + sugar tax. I have been here every time I came to Philly but I got the worst experience ever as of today. It was not closing time and the drink are out. The cashier told me to go get to the line where there was no line and people was waiting for their drinks.

I was walking out of Nam Phuong after having lunch thinking about how thirsty I was when I saw a horde of school children excitedly running towards and into Mr. Wish. I loves me a good smoothie & boaba tea place so I took it as a sign that I needed to check them out and dropped in. Upon entering, I discovered that Mr. Wish actually boast itself as being "the No. 1 Fruit Tea Franchise from Taiwan", so no wonder it was bustling with customers. After looking over their drink menu I decided to order one of their Mango Smoothies, which is one of their most popular best sellers. It was really refreshing and hit spot. I could taste that they use real fresh fruit in their smoothies too, which I really appreciated. I can see what all the hype is about when it comes to Mr. Wish. I will definitely keep them in mind for my smoothie needs the next time I'm in Philly. I have my eyes on their tea cakes for the next time I have a chance to pay them a visit.

Drinks are great, silky and rich. I recommend the Tiger Milk Tea w/ Bubble & the Oolong Milk Tea w/ Bubble.

Busted drink in the bag...a mess in my car.
    Mary S.

So this two star review is for the take out portion of their business....I'm pissed off that $9 worth of drinks is wasted and a mess was made that I needed to clean up. I ordered 4 drinks as take out to bring home....but before I even got home...it was a mess in the car and bag. If I wasn't too busy cleaning up I would have taken a picture of the mess before I cleaned it up. The plastic cups are flimsy at best and cracked on the side so resulted in the drinks pretty much ended up in the bag and car. See pictures of the cup after I cleaned them out to throw out. Maybe have cup holders for large drinks instead of bagging them...I'm saddened because I do order to go more often then sitting on site to drink it... On site service and immediate drinking is not a problem and should be enjoyed because their drinks are good....but to order large orders to go hasn't been a good experience so far...first time the seal busted and second time cups cracked....

Have a drink, make a wish!

I've tried Mr. wish South Philly a couple times but I always miss the opportunity to get the fresh Boba on the weekend so today I took an opportunity to head down after visiting the market right next-door. First and foremost, I absolutely love that they have fresh boba on the weekend, it's something that you don't see all the time. You can actually see it right there at the front counter so you know it's fresh. First off I will say that the brown sugar Boba tea should not be confused with tiger tea. the brown sugar boba definitely has that brown sugar flavor but it's really soaked into the tapioca balls. I don't believe they actually add anything extra to the drink it's just milk and brown sugar tapioca balls. At first I was expecting a slap in the face overwhelming flavor of brown sugar which is what I was really looking for but I didn't get that with this drink. Would I order it again? YES, but I would ask if they have an option for more brown sugar flavoring.

The drink was refreshing and fruity with a natural tartness from the dragon fruit. Not overly sweet even though I forgot to ask for less sugar. Their 100 percent sugar tastes more like 75 percent, which I actually liked since I usually go for 50. The boba had a nice chew and was not overly sweet either. The banh mi was really solid. Crispy toasted bread on the outside, soft inside, with a good balance of savory meat, pickled veggies, and fresh herbs. Bright, tangy, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Went around 1:30 so technically past lunch, but it was still busy. There was a bit of a line and people kept crowding or cutting, but the staff were working fast and getting orders out efficiently. They also have a small front area with grab and go items like bottled drinks, spring rolls, and other snacks. There is even a heated case with fried items by the register. Did not try those this time but definitely will next visit. Seating is limited, more of a quick stop spot, but perfect for a casual bite. Overall really good. The Dodo bakery focuses on Hong Kong-centric pastries, so I had to check it out. For the savory options, they do a steamed BBQ bun and it tastes much like what you would order at a dim sum restaurant, for a reasonable price of $2.50 per bun. They also serve various cakes and sweet buns that were pretty good. I ended up having the steamed custard bun, taro bun, and the pineapple bun, all tasty. The only thing I wasn't not as impressed with is the cinnamon roll, which arguable is more of an American item. I didn't see any egg tarts, but I heard you may have to ask for them behind the counter. The store is small and bright, so you have to get take-out. They also serve boba drinks, which looked good but I didn't get a chance to try. I'll have to come back and try more things from here the next time I'm in the area.

Overall, out of the drinks I've tried, there haven't been any standouts that result in me craving Gong Cha when that bubble tea craving hits. But, the drinks I have liked have been pleasant. Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Lemon Ai-Yu White Pearl]: I think the lemon tastes too artificial but it's less noticeable at the 70% sugar level. I like the ai-yu jelly and white pearl combination though. - [Lemon Wintermelon Basil Seeds*]: I really liked the lemon and wintermelon combination. - [Grapefruit Yogurt Drink with Aloe Vera*]: I liked that this drink was more grapefruit forward compared to other similar drinks from other bubble tea shops. I've also ordered this drink with the white pearl topping, which is an equally good topping option. - [Wintermelon Milk Tea with Aloe Vera*]: There was a small sign on the counter recommending the aloe vera topping with the Wintermelon Milk Tea but I would not personally recommend that combination. I feel like aloe vera pairs better with non-milky drinks. The wintermelon milk tea drink itself was good though and had a really pleasant, fragrant wintermelon aftertaste. It probably would have tasted better with the pearl topping. - [Thai Mango Smoothie]: This is a seasonal summer drink. The mango flavor was light and tasted artificial and had more of a slushy consistency. It comes with passion fruit jelly as the topping. I thought that the drink was very underwhelming. - [Lychee Oolong with Ai-Yu Jelly]: The drink was too sweet but could taste better if it was less sweet. The drink is more oolong tea forward. Would I go back? : Yes, but only if I'm in the mood for it. Mr. Wish, which is one of my favorite bubble tea shops, is in the same plaza and I will almost always choose Mr. Wish over Gong Cha.
