Stopped in with a friend for a bubble tea. I was pretty happy with their large selection of different teas. Black, green, oolong, roobios....they have it all! I selected a regular-sized black tea with almond flavor and milk with bobas. Super tasty. It was properly flavored and not watered down. The interior walls of the cafe are painted black but they use colorful shades on their lamp, bright paintings, and have many large picture windows to illuminate the cafe. Even on a cloudy day, this place would be bright inside. Lots of college kids hanging around and the ambience was low-key and not loud. You can carry a normal voice level and still be heard. Will return to try some of their other teas and perhaps a curry dish. read more

Hands down my go to spot in Buffalo for bubble tea no matter what the weather is like!! Though there is Kung Fu Tea located on North Campus as well, I find the bubble tea much better here. Tea leaf offers a large assortment of flavors ranging from fruit milk tea to fruit green tea. My absolute favorites here are the Rose Milk Tea, Honeydew Milk Green Tea, Yogurt Green Tea, Passion Fruit Green Tea, and Thai Iced Tea. The shop is really spacious and can seat up to at least 40 people. The lines do get long on weekend nights but it usually moves pretty quickly since the service is efficient here. If you have a large party they do take reservations. Drinks are ranged from $4-$5 which is decent priced for a cup of bubble tea. They do serve dessert and some sides as well. I personally never tried any of those but I'm giving Tea Leaf a five star based on their drinks. They do have a bathroom there for customers as well and a huge parking lot outside (shared by AMC and all those other restaurants in the complex). read more

Once a month a least my wife has to go through a fairly painful procedure with a nearby doctor, and she uses a stop to this wonderful café as a treat to reward herself (lol and me) for another month done. As Bubble tea places go in my humble opinion this is the best in WNY and beyond. We have been to CNY and the Southern Tier a few times in the last year and tried a few of their Bubble tea cafés, and none can compare to Tea Leaves. What I love about this place is the Variety, the Cutomizability, the very Friendly staff, and most especially the end product. One of my favorite teas in this world is a Matcha tea, but when you get it in a cold tea like a Bubble tea it can be grainy as the Matcha generally doesnt dissolve perfectly. Not with Tea Leaves, my Matcha Bubble tea is always smooth and delicious. As a diabetic I also have to carefully watch my intake of sugars and this café helps with that by offering a Bubble tea that has no sugar added. At least no more than what is used for the base Milk tea. The other thing I have noted with competitors is the Tapioca beads have a tendency to stick together if not fully hydrated before using. I never have this issue at Tea Leaves. The tea is always delicious, and their employees are always friendly. Normally I'd follow with what I don't like or what I think needs improving, but I'm not coming up with anything in that category. This spot is one of my favorite spots for bubble tea. They are always so friendly and helpful and have one of the largest selections for bubble tea in the area. They have options of no sugar to extra sugar, a wide selection of boba, tapioca beads, and a large selection of flavor choices with the option of green tea or black tea. My normal order is rose milk tea with black tea and passion fruit boba. They also have a large selection of other types of teas both hot and cold. I have been frequenting Tea Leaf Cafe since beginning at UB a few years ago. Of the dozen plus times I've been to Tea Leaf, I don't really have many complaints except for the occasional fluke in someone making the bubble tea with not enough flavor and too much ice. (This is rare though) The thing I like about Tea Leaf is that you can ask for less sugar or ice in your drink. As if the amount that's already in bubble tea didn't freak me out enough, I ask for less sugar and skim milk, a great option! Their Thai iced tea is also quite tasty even with skim milk. The only slight complaint I have is the food. I've ordered the scallion pancake and dumplings in the past. Nothing earth shattering. Of course, the focus for Tea Leaf is...well...the bubble tea, so I can't really complain much here, I just wouldn't snack on the food here because it is not worth the price. This is a cute little cafe located near the University at Buffalo that serves loads of drinks and some smaller food items. I stopped in here for a drink and to see the place finally after having driven past it a thousand times and I enjoyed the experience. At 30 years old I felt old, which is weird for me lol but it tells you that the crowd tends to be geared toward the local college population. Nonetheless, there are lots of tables and places to sit and they've got an expansive menu of things to try. I got a berry smoothie with the boba things on the bottom and it was really very tasty! I could tell it was made from real ingredients and not a mix like I've had in the past. The bobas were chewy and tasted good as well. I've been to this location about 3 times now and I haven't had any issues. The tea taste great, the tapioca and bursting balls are delicious as well. I went last night, but wasn't aloud into the building due to covid reasons. It's kind of confusing but not entirely the stores fault. We can walk into most stores but not a tea place that can easily have enough space for 15-20+ people. You have to do order off their website, which was easy to use and fun to select all the flavor profiles. You leave them your cell so you can receive a text to pick up your drinks off their make shift book shelf (lol) None the less my experience was great. Delicious ! Every time I come the tea is spot on. It's always fresh and made on the spot so it's never bitter. Service is usually quick, depending on what you order it might take a few minutes but that's okay if you want it made fresh. Prices are reasonable, and you get large portions. Well worth it ! Awesome hangout place! It's about a 15-20 minute walk from UB North Campus. In all honesty, the location of this cozy cafe is not the greatest area (and it's kind of hidden). But compared to other bubble teas, Tea Leaf's bubble tea drinks feel more refreshing and light. It has a nice earthy and tea aroma to it. It doesn't have the powdery milky texture that some bubble teas have. Overall,Tea leaf's beverages are fresh and sweet :) I recommend getting the Japanese green milk tea with bubbles. The sugar levels are really helpful (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%). I usually ask for 25% sugar. The bubbles were warm and chewy, and Japanese green tea was very soothing and not too sweet. The atmosphere is just terrific. The couches are super comfy and the tables are really clean and smooth. The big windows give the place a brighter feel to it and gives you better photo-lighting ;) Also, they sell dessert and appetizers as well! I appreciate the variety of bubble tea that the location offers, but the drinks you receive are hit or miss. Some days the drink is fantastic, other times it tastes almost as if it were watered down (it should be noted the times I had my worse experiences with their drinks is when I left a smaller tip amount compared to the times I didn't.) As a college student who sometimes needs to pinch pennies, I don't appreciate being serviced in that manner if that IS to be the case. Their tapioca pearls are soft, but delicious nonetheless. However, they put far less bubbles than any other boba tea store. Quiet frankly the only reason I go back is because they're one of the only few tea spots that offer my favorite milk tea- rose. read more

I had their classic milk tea here and it was just okay. The tea wasn't very strong and the boba was really doughy and kinda watery/fell apart...literally though. There were chunks of boba there that weren't whole pieces but probably fell off from a whole pearl. Overall- the prices are okay and the service is efficient. Nice hang out spot. I have visited here twice so far and both times I've received no greeting, I'm hoping that it is no racism here but, it has an underlying tone when the people in front of you get such a warn welcome and you just get a stare, so minus 1 star. I really enjoyed the pineapple drink, everything taste very fresh and authentic, plus 1 star. I really do love Tea Leaf Cafe. I have been coming here for years and while they have ok coffee and the like, the real draw is the bubble tea. The service is always relatively solid, and they have a great reward punch card system. There are couches and tables too, so it's a decent spot to come with a group or solo, if you're in the mood to get some work done. It's also right next to the AMC theater, so it's a nice little pit stop before or after a movie. As far as the bubble tea goes, it is the only place in Buffalo I will go for boba. It is good every time, they have a whole slew of flavors and sometimes they even have special flavors!! They recently added different kinds of jellies to add to your bev if you are not a fan of the traditional tapioca balls as well. When I started writing this, my rating was leaning towards a 3. However after my most recent bubble tea run, I can say it is a solid 4. Lychee & loganberry bubble tea with no sugar (the flavor syrups already have sugar) is the business. Life-changing, mind altering, game changer of bubble teas. I almost exclusively get milk-based flavors and boy am I glad I dared to deviate from my norm. My favorite milk combo is the Almond Joy (chocolate, almond, coconut). I've been coming here since the demise of Bao and I was getting tired of the same ole boba. There is a board on the left side by the register with flavor combo suggestions and it is awesome. I get to try something different each visit. I'm not the most imaginative person and it takes work to come up with decent flavor combinations (I tend to over think it) so that board is a time saver. They've also started offering banh mi on Friday and Saturday but at $5.95 plus tax, it better be an earth shattering experience. Of the bubble tea cafes in the area, Tea Leaf has the most flavor variety. If you don't like tapioca, you can get other add-ons like jelly for an additional cost. For those who don't like sweetened tea and prefer a different experience, Tea Leaf also has loose leaf tea which can be ordered by the cup/mug or pot. Generally, I'm not too impressed with their loose tea selection. Much of it is tea leaves with added flavoring e.g. birthday cake tea which does not appeal to me at all. I've had pots of the silver needle and tie guan yin which were nice. For small plates, the pan-fried dumplings (veggie, pork, or chicken), edamame, and scallion pancake are on point. If you're in a hurry, boiled dumplings will do. There's free Wi-Fi so it's a nice spot to hang out with friends, study, or just chill on your own. During the school year, it tends to get crowded and really noisy. The last few times I've been there, the tables have been a little grimy and the floor super sticky. So far, this is the best authentic tea house in the area. I'm a huge fan of their Rose Black Tea as the flavor is great, not too sweet but also not watered down nothingness. There always seems to be enough space and several open tables when I go in. My go to is usually a coconut mango green bubble tea and it makes me happy EVERY time.In addition,there are so many flavor combinations to choose from, that I am sure anyone could find one or more to enjoy. I ordered the pomegranate bubble tea and informed them it was my first time so they were really patient with me and explained the differences between the two kinds and provided recommendations. Not really a fan of this place. Their bubble tea isn't very good and their tapioca balls have a very weird aftertaste and texture. I also dislike that it is littered with teenagers. I don't think anyone in there is over 18 years old. There is usually a long line to get your bubble tea, but it moves relatively quickly. This place is used to be my hangout place after school or after the movie next door. Don't matter what day you come whether it is Thursday, Friday, Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon, this place is always busy. I don't mind the waiting (sometimes) because the bubble tea is always the best I've tasted so far. They just remodeled the counter and the seating area, which provides more room for the customer. However I missed the couch in the back near the counter. They also added more food into the menu. I will try their food someday. Ever since they changed their formula for Thai Iced Tea by using evaporated milk to make it more "authentic", I stopped coming here for it. It tasted more authentic before when they used whole milk. Just my two cents but I've been to Thailand twice (I drank Thai Iced Tea every day). I still stop by from time to time when I'm nearby (i.e watching a movie). I opt for their green/regular milk tea or a fruit tea with 50% sugar. Their milk tea is just alright. Their fruit teas, however, even with 50% less sugar, they still taste like water with flavoring. That doesn't take away from the fact that this place makes great drinks. Their menu is diverse and they offer many different options. I'm always coming here for their Thai Iced Tea and Red Bean Ice. Both drinks are delicious and they both taste better if you get boba in it. Their food is pretty good too. They have a diverse selection of snacks and appetizers. What's worth trying is their Roast Pork Banh Mi and the Beef Bulgogi over Rice. Both items are flavorful and are worth ordering.
