Whenever I am in the Provo/Orem area I love to try and come by here for my boba fix. One of my absolute favorite spots. I always tip cash because who knows if these owners now a days really give their employees the added tip that's always asked for these days on the POS (Point Of Sale) machine. My hope is yes, but some employees when asked have told me that they indeed do not always get their tips when added to the POS machine. So as the saying goes. Cash is KING when I feel the desire to tip great service. Wish they had a Salt Lake City location. My go-to Taro Hokkaido Tea Milk slush with cheese foam and brown sugar boba is always my favorite drink here. Regular sweetness.
Came here cuz someone said it's the best boba in Utah That's cap It's aight They have a lot of good choices but to say best boba in the state is a big reach cuz those tapioca balls weren't soft (but they weren't hard either like one spot I won't mention had em) This rating is based on the pearls and they weren't the best Were they bad? No Were they great? Ehh Overall it's a good stop if you're in Utah county but I wouldn't drive out just for boba. Maybe for the pepper pig plushies but not the bob's K bye
I'd try this place again. They have a variety of options and are able to withhold the black tea from your drink if you don't want it. What I got: Honeydew Galaxy Tea with Mango Popping Boba - 4* it was very yummy. I really love honeydew. And I think I would've enjoyed it more if I hadn't broken my cup (completely my fault, I was trying to mix more of the syrup in the drink and thought hitting it against the table would help... Nope, it just split the cup. So I flipped the cup over, cracked open the bottom, and drank it upside down. Yay for solid plastic lids that kept my drink sealed while it was being consumed upside down!) You do have to shake your drink to mix it up so it doesn't stay all pretty the whole time you're enjoying it.
I really love Tea Mate! I think this is my favorite Boba place in Orem. My favorite is the Taro and Haikkado milk slush. The galaxy teas are also very yummy! The restaurant is pretty small, so if there are more than a couple groups it can get very crowded but that obviously isn't a problem if you take it to go. Service is good! Everyone has been friendly when I've visited.
The service was fast and quick even though there was one person there. The shop was adorable and I was almost tempted into buying the boba plushies on the counter. The drinks were my favorite part, the taro milk tea and was sweet and had a toasty flavor to it. I also tried the Hokkaido matcha latte for the first time and it tasted like butter with a matcha flavor to it and it was delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for something cool yet sweet to drink.
Best boba tea I've had recently! I came just after lunch and got the Galaxy Honeydew with regular boba. They recommend you mix it before you stick your straw in. So, just make sure you take a picture of it before you mix it up and separate all the cool colors. Taste was super fresh. Not overly sweet at all and the boba was soft and chewy. The people working there are super friendly and they made the drink super fast. Nice interior too if you want to hang out inside. There was also some seating outside. This is probably my favorite place so far since being here. There's a lot of flavors there and I'll be back to try the others. I'm a huge fan of Taro/Coconut boba tea/smoothies. That will be next.
If you are looking for the most authentic boba and teas, you need to stop at Tea Mate. Tea and smoothies made just like you'd find in Asia. They use some delicious milk, and quality ingredients in all their drinks. Smoothies do not use fresh fruit. So just a heads up, it is not like a Roxberry for a healthy drink after a workout. You are able to drop the sugar level on most selections though. Their Thai Tea was the absolute best ratio between tea and milk.
This new place is super clean, has such a friendly owner and great boba! I ordered the brown sugar icy milk while my friend ordered the Taro and Hokkaido milk slush. We both agreed that the Taro and Hokkaido milk slush was way better.Although it was a slush, it was very creamy and did not have any ice bits in it! It also smelled very fresh. Nonetheless, the brown sugar icy milk is a must have! Although I thought this would be another generic boba place, I actually really liked how they managed to come up with special slush flavors, rather than the typical ones you get at every boba store. Update: after coming here a few times, I feel like their boba flavour seems to be watered down a little. It does not taste as good as it was when it first opened.
Was shopping in the area and had a craving for boba so I decided to stop here! I got the Mango & Strawberry smoothie with the brown sugar boba. The boba itself is pretty good. It's perfectly cooked but the flavor is pretty subtle. I personally like my tapioca pearls to be a little more sugary but it was still pretty good. The Mango & Strawberry smoothie part was alright. Nothing really stood out about it. I wish they had fresh strawberries & mangos but they just used ice, what I'm assuming was fructose, and flavored syrups. I couldn't really taste the strawberry, just the artificial mango & sweetener. It could be that I just got the wrong thing on the menu. I think I'll come back another time and get something else. The staff was friendly, fast, and efficient. Overall good place. Definitely better than all of the other boba shops in the area.
You know what I keep thinking about? Boba. Specifically the boba from here, because it's dang good. Went with my sister on a whim to try out their milk teas while she was in town and I'm so happy I did. I got the purple yam special with boba and pudding, my sister brown sugar dirty milk tea with boba, and my husband mango passion fruit with boba and a cheese foam. To be honest, didn't know what to expect from the pudding and cheese foam but they ended up being my favorite part of our drinks! Now the purple yam won everyone over, it was the favorite. The purple yam tastes identical to taro (a sweet, nutty flavor) and the vanilla pudding/custard that you get sips of plus the boba added a fun textural element to the drink I LOVED. Next up was the mango passion fruit, with the cheese foam being like a cheesecake mousse that added a sweet tang to the tropical fruit. Lastly was the brown sugar, which had a strong tea flavor we aren't used to but I honestly would order it again. It was nice and creamy with hints of caramel from the brown sugar. Still delish even if you aren't a black tea fan. Over all with the fast and friendly service paired with fair prices, I say Boba Time is doing an awesome job giving the Utah Valley some fun and authentic boba drinks! As soon as my bank account let's me I'll be back.

Nah. Not a fan even a little bit. I'm at a loss for what to write. I'm in town from LA (we have killer boba there guys--I didn't think it could be that different in comparison), and I think this place scared me away from Utah boba for good. Hopefully I'm wrong--boba is fun. The drink didn't taste like a tea at all, the flavor was super amiss for a brown sugar boba, and the boba pearls themselves had both a gritty consistency and no flavor. I got mine with no ice specifically so that I could enjoy the flavor without it getting watered down and it still tasted like it had been watered down. It was weird. My wife got a fruit tea, and it tasted like a melted snow cone. Same with the kids' drinks. I'm sorry to say I recommend not going here if you want good boba. This place lacks authenticity and appeal. read more

Tea Mate is one of my go-to spots to get milk tea. I love going here because I can adjust the sweetness level of my drink and because of the many options on their menu. The staff has always been friendly and kind. I would highly recommend going to Tea Mate to get a drink! read more

Boba is good here but not over the top. I wasn't a fan of their cheese tea which I normally love. I found their cheese tea topping was too watery and tasted more like adding half and half on top. Beyond the cheese tea issue most things are good here and service is ok. read more

This spot is a little hidden gem. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding me through their menu. The drink itself was delicious and one of the best Boba drinks I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and try this place. read more

I love that they let you have more than 2 toppings and they deliver and the options are endless. So so over the top with the coffee slush, brown sugar fresh milk, matcha brulee and taro hokkaido.... all with brown sugar boba, jelly and pudding. Get them with no sugar..... and less ice!!! read more

FAVORITE place in Utah County for boba tea for their plethora of options, flavors, teas, textures (iced or blended), and always sweet service. My go-to is taro milk tea with no added sweetener. There's a tiny amount of natural texture from the taro (normal, unless it's over processed to a powder like at other places), iced instead of smoothie (easier to drink and to ration the bobas, plus they stay firm, not frozen), and the sweetness from the bobas is enough for me so I get NO ADDED SWEETENER. The taste options are so varied here that I feel like it can take a few tries to hone in on your preferred flavor. One persons preference might taste weird to you and vice versa. Parking is tight in this shared lot, but it's worth the battle for my favorite drink treat! Wish this was a drive through! read more

This place rules! Milk tea in Utah is very hit and miss, but Boba Time hits. Every time. This time I tried the brûlée sweet milk with grass jelly. Ive never loved grass jelly, but it was delicious here. The menu is pretty creative, and there are lots of flavors to try. I'll be back whenever I get a chance. read more
Having spent a little time in Taiwan, I have missed winter melon boba tea! This place is definitely the most legit in Utah county, it's real milk tea, not just smoothies and slushees. And they have some classic flavors that are hard to find around here, like almond and honey kumquat lemon. My Hong Kong husband almost flipped when he saw they also have Hong Kong egg (or bubble) waffles, which are also delicious. 5 stars for the variety of drinks and toppings, and the quality. read more

I live in Salt Lake and literally drove 40 minutes to try the boba. This place isn't bad but not impressed. I would give five stars for the staff and three for the drinks. So average 4 stars I guess. It was quite obvious that the cashier was still in training but she was very sweet and tried her best. Definitely need more training on suggesting the sweet levels tho!!! We ordered Uji matcha, taro milk tea, Hokkaido and added a tropical fruit tea at the end. Wasn't sure how sweet their drinks normally are, since it was our first time, so I did 50% for the matcha and 100% for the rest. Trust me when I say, DONOT do 100% for the taro milk tea! It was extremely sugary and my friend couldn't even drink it! Had to bring it home and milk it down! Before I tried their taro milk tea, I used to think milk teas at Gossip in West valley were horrible enough. Do not recommend 100% for the taro milk tea at all! Don't take me wrong tho, maybe a different percentage of sugar will make a huge difference, just not 100%. 50% for the uji matcha wasn't bad. Tropical fruit tea was tasty! Definitely recommend this one! Didn't get to try the Hokkaido, cuz it was for my friend's husband lol. I also ordered a Chinese burrito. Not quite the same as the ones back home (this is a typical street food in my hometown, which I have been having since I was a kid) but not bad at all. Is it bad that I judge good boba by whether the staff speaks Chinese? Cuz I definitely do! And so far, I have not been wrong. Sure their drinks looks amazing, but guess what, they taste amazing too! Good boba with the perfect QQ - or as Asians describe, the perfect bounce and squish as you bite into a boba ball. Service was a little slow but because someone arrived before us and ordered 12+ drinks (also from SLC). I do wish they were closer location wise, cuz Provo is far from SLC. read more

Tea Mate is a quaint little place but probably my favorite to get boba from in Provo/Orem. Although it's very small and there isn't much seating room, the atmosphere is still nice and well kept. I like that they play Chinese music inside. The staff is really nice and prepare the drinks quickly. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because it is pricey, it's usually around $15 when my husband and I both get drinks, but they're so good. I love everything taro flavored from here. For LDS members who are wary about "tea," they always clarify if a drink has a green or black tea base before you buy, and they can change it for you if you don't want that. read more

If you're looking for real boba in Utah County or even the state of Utah, this is as close as you're going to get. The menu is much more than just slushees and smoothies like most self-proclaimed boba places. You'll find milk teas, fruit teas, green tea and even matcha. And if you're following the latest boba trends, you'll know about the cheese foam. Well they have it here! Aside from drinks they also have some Chinese snacks, like Hong Kong bubble waffles (雞蛋仔) and Taiwanese scallion pancakes (蔥油餅). read more

The BEST boba tea I've had in utah and even in parts of California. It was so creamy and sweet, and tasty! The boba was over cooked but I'll give them a pass on this bc it was delicious. Will definitely go back in the future. read more

What would you suggest for someone who's never had boba but would like to try?
I will say taro milk tea or the flavored milk slush and you can add boba to the slush as well
Is the galaxy tea made with herbal tea? I see the fruity flavors, but I have no idea what the base of the drink is.
Normally it's a green tea base but you can switch it to an herbal tea per request!
Are there dairy free milk options (almond milk, oat milk, etc)?
Yes. We use non dairy creamer on all our drinks except sweet milk and Icy milk selections.
