RECEIVED TERRIBLE SERVICE AND GROSSLY OVERCHARGED. I scheduled air conditioning repair service. When the repairman came, after reviewing the system for a couple of hours, he said he needed a more experienced person to help him figure out the issue. I had to schedule a visit for him and another repairman so that he could explain to the other "more experienced" repairman the air conditioning system in my house. That appointment was canceled by them the night before and rescheduled for a week later. They said another company had incorrectly wired a part. Instead of rewiring it correctly, I was told I needed to order a replacement part as well as another part that seemed to do the same thing. I had previously paid $150 for the incorrectly wired part, but the estimate for the replacement plus the new extra part was $877. Also, the price for adding refrigerant was $204 for the first pound and $145 for each additional pound. Previously used companies charge $40 per pound. We called on Friday morning to speak to a manager. No one was available, but we were told he would return the call on Monday morning. He didn't. We called back again on Tuesday afternoon. The manager didn't answer why the part was not simply rewired instead of being replaced. However, he said, we probably didn't need the second part after all. When questioned about the shocking difference in pricing for the refrigerant, he said they charged the national average. We looked up the price online, and a 5lb tank of the same refrigerant (R-410A) was priced at $138. When we called back and left a message, the call was never returned. I WOULD NEVER CALL Team Bob AGAIN. Not only do they grossly overcharge for their services, but they also have you sign an iPad for the bill before presenting the actual bill to you. You receive an itemized bill about one week later. After paying $1280.00, my air conditioning system still doesn't work. read more

When they learned I was unhappy with a product they installed due to equipment issues with no warranty for expensive labor costs they sent out two folks to make me happy. I explained my issues and they offered to replace with the same brand...I asked for options and they offered me another brand but "more expensive, same short labor warranty" . I still was not happy so they came up with a third option...Longer labor warranty and , surprise, lower price than the other two...seems unethical to me with that product all over their web page....with lower price and 6 times longer labor warranty. When they were leaving they committed to sending me offers on all three options by the end of the day...with an effort to make the prices reflective of my concerns. The end of that day was two weeks ago today..no offers, no emails, no calls. In other words, no customer service ! read more

Joshua was set to come out around 3:30 pm to look at a leak under the sink and a leaking outside spigot. We just moved into our mobile home. The leak under the sink he said he could not find. He said our sink was illegal and the pipes had to be reduced. He said it would run about $600-$800 to rerun the pipes. He said that there were two pipes that make it an s pipe and then that will eventually create a backup all over our home. He said it will probably happen in about 2 years. My husband asked if we could just bypass that with a straight pipe and he said yes. He gave us a price of about $200. Then he changed it to $339. So we went outside to talk about the spigot. He said because we have the skirting that he would have to break the skirting and we would be responsible for fixing the skirting. Then we said well if it has to be broken, we will have you break it on the back side of the mobile home. He said if he had to crawl 20 feet under the mobile home it would cost us about another $300 just to crawl under the trailer. So he also said he would have to call his main office to make sure that they would allow him to be under the mobile home because they don't do work under the mobile homes in the winter. Today is April 15. There is some flakes coming down but this is not exactly a Michigan winter snow day. He just didn't want to get moist or wet from being under a mobile home. He said that we should call Liberty as they would most likely know how to do this work. He said all of the other plumbers in Traverse city would not go under a mobile home to do plumbing. He said he has worked for 3 of them. All in all I give Joshua a -5 on the pansy scale. If he doesn't want to get wet, don't be a plumber. read more

Yesterday Dave B came to my home and took care of a combination of problems with my home furnace that were causing it to overheat and shut off. He also was knowledgeable, friendly, and fixed everything, making sure to explain exactly what the issues were and how he repaired them. I discovered a gas smell in our house and called DTE who came promptly confirmed a gas leak somewhere in the pipes and shut off our gas, (no heat or hot water or stove or laundry). Instructed to call for a repair from someone who could do a pressure test to identify where the leak was and complete repair, then they would come and verify and turn on gas. I called several companies I had used and they could not come for 5 days. On calling Team Bob's , they said they could come the next day and yes they could do s pressure test. House would have base charge fof $125 - fine. They did indeed come the next day . He went to area of piping I showed him and he asked where the leak was = it was what DTE did. I said no that was why I asked for a Pressure test He did not have the equipment to do and kept complaining about DTE. He said he would come back the next day and asked for the $125. I said it would be paid on completion of work - he said it was policy, I said he did nothing I ordered. We called his office and he left. He came back the next day, again spending all his time complaining on what DTE should have done. It took an hour before he started the pressure test. It did indeed target where the leak was and he went about cutting the pipe and instaling a junction fitting (which he had to again wait for someone to come and bring. After maybe 3 plus hours , he indicated the charge was almost $900. After rattling off the base charge, the cost orf pressure test at $450 plus supplies and worktime. I asked for an receipt itemizing the charge, - he replied itr would be emailed and /or sent. After DTE turned back on gas. I looked on line and called a few other companies. Each told me it ran in the range if $100, I called Team Bob and was ultimately told I had already received a reduced bill. INcredulously, this for someone who did not come prepared to do identified work and spent at least half of his time not working but running his mouth about another company. They helped us out a couple weeks ago as they plowed my friend's elderly dad's driveway and they would not accept any $ whatsoever. We had the hardest time trying to find someone to plow his drive! Our central air conditioning wasn't working. The tech arrived and said the startup capacitor was shot, and th re price was 302.00 for a new one. Tech installed the capacitor and said unit was fixed. He packed up his tools and tablet to leave and he was paid $427, the cost of the capacitor and $125 service fee. We noticed that thr temperature had RISEN 2 DEGREES. No cooling at all. Tech said it was "catching up to temperature differential". I asked the Tech how the coolant (Puron) levels were. He hadnt checked. In fact, there was zero coolant in t h e system. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to have a coolant leak test and coolant added for "about $1500 worst case scenario". The business office at Team Bobs refused to refund my $427, even though NOTHING WAS FIXED. read more

Patrick, ours sales coordinator, came out to assess our home and provide guidance on what we would require. I had no hot water and have a 2 yr old gas hot water heater. After two visits by Team Bobs 4 days apart I was charged $300 and still had no hot water. I was told by the technician who didn't stay more than 5 minutes either time, that I "probably " needed a part which they didn't supply so told me to find the part myself and then they would put it on. Seriously this was the one of the all-time worst customer experiences I've ever had. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! They charged me $273.00 for "5 feet of PVC pipe" when the total job wasn't even 5ft. That was only one add on to my invoice along with labor and other connection parts. I called just wanting an explanation on why something that cost around $30 in the store now costs me $273?! Their reply was the typical .. well labor and parts and I then had to stop them and mention my other itemized 300 and something labor cost for a 2.5 hour job on the bill.. which was of multiple janky cuts in my wall and removing an old pipe probably about 2 feet not even by their "highly professional" staff. I wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars to Team Bob's. I've been using them for many years and have not had one problem or complaint. For the last 5 years, they have been helping me baby my elderly furnace (25 years old) along. Who would have thought that my 15 year old a/c would give up the ghost at almost midnight on July 3rd! Team Bob's service was out here within the hour. Sadly, to repair the unit was not worth the expense so I decided to replace both the furnace and a/c plus a new water heater. I'm sure it took a lot of work for Team Bob's to juggle their schedule but they managed to order all my equipment and come and install it at 8am on July 10th. By 3 pm that afternoon I had a/c again! I said that I've been dealing with Team Bob's for many years and during that time I've met many of their employees. Every one of their employees has been extremely knowledgeable, neat and clean in their personal appearance and their work, and a pleasure to have in my home. Scheduled an inspection a few weeks out for a low water pressure issue. Took time off work to be home for the appointment. The day before, Team Bob's texted to confirm an 8-12 window of arrival and I immediately replied yes. The day of the appointment, they called, and thanks to spotty cell service in north Leelanau, it went to voicemail. Their position is that if they don't hear back immediately, they cancel and move on to their next appointment. Seemed to do an adequate job, however they are very overpriced. To install a $130 circuit board, that took 34 minutes to do, cost me over $500. Even though they are a Lennox dealer, it took 4 days to get a replacement part. I will probably use somebody else next time. On the positive side, they did show up when they said they were going to, and the technicians were pleasant. They seemed to know what they were doing. Had Team Bob out for a service call. Furnace would not ignite. Service man said that it was a faulty pressure switch. Which cost is $217.00. This is plus the service call fee of $115.00. Totaling $332.00. He said that I was lucky that he happened to have one switch on the truck. Otherwise he would have to charge me an extra $75.00 to go and pick it up, or have a goffer run one out to my house. Agreed for the replacement. Next day my furnace would not ignite. So, I replaced myself the other same type pressure switch and Volá it is still working. Went to Amazon.com which sells the same exact pressure switch fo the exorbitant price of $35.00. I mean come on fellas! Of course I want you to make money, but how about a FAIR AND RESONABLE PROFIT!!! This is just another example of corporate GREED. I was in purchasing for many years and when he handed me the switch I told him come on, this looks like a $20.00 switch and he assured me that manufacturing cost have skyrocketed. Where do I begin! The company that installed our furnace was bought out by Team Bobs. We just continued our service and maintenance plan. We have a high efficient furnace (Lochenvarr). Everything was great for 8 years. Around then the furnace started shutting down. Having a pre paid maintenance visit. I'm was mistakenly under the impression they clean and check for things that need to be changed and maintained when they come out ..... every fall. We have had this furnace shutting down intermittently for several months. They were coming out and charging me a full service visit fee and hitting the reset button. Never once checking into the reason the furnace was shutting down The last visit was on a day before we were flying out and planning on being gone over 10 days. Middle of winter. They sent out a service guy. The first thing he said.... I've never worked on one of these before! 2 hours $500+ later. My husband was handed a receipt that was NOT documented correctly. The serviceman wrote a receipt for a circulating pump and yet did not replace the circulating pump or even work on it. He said he had to write this receipt this way because it brought the right price up. Unbelievable! So not only are they not repairing the issue but their documentation and records are incorrect. Being business owners ourselves we really feel that this is not a good practice. We called our builder and discussed the poor customer service and follow up that we received from them. They suggested we call Owner of the business and discuss the situation being referred by both our builder and the foreman of our job. We called.... twice. Left message, voicemail... phone number. NO CALL BACK- ever. We took our loss on the wasted $500 on the last service call and moved on. We called the manufacturer and they recommended another company. Who identified the problem immediately - had the parts brought out to our house and finished the job in 2 hours. For less money than the last service call from Team Bob's. Replaced 4 parts! All parts we were told were fine from Team Bob's!! Needless to say- I removed the Team Bob sticker. Never again. Very poor business practices and very poor customer service. Last winter we checked my parents home in TC (they live downstate in the winter) and found the furnace not working. They had called Bobs before (stick on furnace), I called them and someone came out in one hour, great. The service call was only $125 but they charged us about $700 for a $125 part. Had to get it fixed to I approved the charge. Called Bobs a few days later to let them know the part was overpriced and they told me they the price for parts on the truck change based on what time of day it is So what they do is if you call them after 6pm the cost goes up hour by hour. A $125 part was almost $700 in the evening. THIS COMPANY RIPS OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS. Never let them set foot in a house again. They will defend their policy of raising the price on a part as the day wears on. read more

Over charge...ex. charge for trip to house even tho it was their errorous work. If they don't have a part they will not do an overnight order unless you agree to pay for the overnight shipping. In our case we were never told of this policy, therefore it was regular ground shipping. Took 11 days to repair our hot water heater boiler/furnace. This was a December issue, burr... Not only was I not contacted to have my approval for services over $800 while a family member let Team Bobs into my home, the work they did was unnecessary. I was able to turn on the water to my shower with a wrench when the handle would not turn on the water. Now all the piping is redone in the access behind my shower. I had Walter and Hemming replace my hot water heater less than a year ago. They said the DIY the previous owners was done "wasn't pretty but worked effectively". I would recommend Walter and hemming for their honesty since everything went great with them. When I complained about not being notified they receptionist Denise said they could take off the $115 consult fee. The next day she told me she was not authorized by her manager Eric and could only take off $59. I've never been so disappointed in integrity, work and customer service. In fact, he wasn't even the person on-call, but those crews were busy, so he extended his day and came out and fixed our furnace. Having been a customer of Team Bob's at 2 homesites over a period of 8+ years for the purchase of a Trane Furnace/Heat Pump/AC system in 2009 and a Lennox/Furnace/Heat Pump/AC system in my subsequent home in 2017 I believed I had invested in mechanicals and service I could trust. Twice this spring I have had such poor response to my needs that I will no longer employ this organization. This week I called Team Bob's when I discovered an oily leak from copper tubing within 10" of the furnace in the line leading out to the heat pump. Upon removing pipe wrap I found the source to be a faulty connection where two pieces of copper tubing had been soldered during installation. When I relayed this information to customer service, I was told I would be incurring a $115 charge for a technician to make a service call to identify the problem plus all charges for repairs as I was beyond the one-year warranty period. This despite adhering to an annual maintenance plan required to maintain the warranty. When I questioned why I would have to pay for repairs due to faulty workmanship, the receptionist offered to repeat their policy and gave no assurance Team Bob's would stand behind their workmanship. I followed up with a call to salesman Patrick who told me at the time of both purchases to call him should I have any problems. I described what I found, what I was told by their office staff, and asked about needed repair. He suggested that I was losing coolant and there would be an involved procedure in diagnosing and correcting the problem but I was beyond the warranty and added that "Even purchasing a Mercedes does not guarantee there will be no mechanical problems." I decided I would not reward Team Bob's by paying them to repair a problem they created. The licensed independent technician I subsequently contacted came within hours, confirmed that the leak was from the connection I had identified, and explained that repair would involve draining the coolant, re-pressurizing the system, adding additional coolant, and replacing the faulty connection by brazing the joint rather than soldering it. I have learned that soldering is a practice for sealing copper tubing inferior to brazing and not considered good practice by most installers who are more concerned with reliability than speed of installation. Team Bob's connection had not stood up to normal vibration in close proximity to the furnace. Now I am left to watch for and assume expense for failures in other soldered connections made by Team Bob's during original installation. I will not be paying them to re-do poor quality work nor to provide annual maintenance on my system. During the first annual inspection by Team Bob's I learned the the expensive top-quality filter for which I contracted at the time of installation had not been provided. Had I not saved all paperwork I would not have recouped this loss as the office staff challenged my claim and resisted the need to "go upstairs in the heat to locate stored files" and substantiate my claim. Also this spring when I was given an estimate by Team Bob's to replace my water heater, I learned upon questioning that the brand they would be installing was one that was poorly rated by reviewers and FurnaceCompare. I chose to have a top-rated brand with a 12 year warranty installed by an independent licensed plumber at a $200+ saving. Team Bob's is not concerned with customer satisfaction and does not pride themselves in quality product and service regardless of their sales techniques. read more

Not sure what's going on at Team Bob's anymore. They used to be a go to for us. They have done some plumbing repairs, installed a new heating system and a few other visits. This last experience we had with them was just awful. No call back's with quotes when they said they would (but oddly enough they would send an email within minutes of MY followup phone call). When I received the quotes I was shocked! The price was way out of line for a couple simple plumbing needs. I called another insured business that I have worked with before and they were able to be out a couple days later at 1/3 the price I was quoted at Team Bob's. Let me repeat. Team Bob's was 3 TIMES THE PRICE of another plumber. I assure you I will not sit around waiting for Team Bob's again. Makes me wonder how overpriced my furnace install was... read more
