Team Tongue Tie saved my breastfeeding journey with my second. One that I thought was going amazing until about 6/7 weeks in. I started getting frequent clogs, my baby was unreasonably fussy, had silent reflux, and started struggling to breastfeed. I had no idea what was going on -- my first child had no issues breastfeeding and I had been doing the exact same thing with my second. Luckily we were referred to TTT and they were incredible from the first phone call. We called frantically on a Friday afternoon after getting tipped off that our baby might have a tie. They were so quick to respond and Scott even took our intro phone call on a Saturday afternoon. We were in first thing on Monday morning for the procedure!! When you're in this desperate position to feed your baby, you KNOW how important speed is. I was SO thankful they were able to get us in so quickly - I may have cried a few silent tears of relief when he said we could come in on Monday morning. Everyone in the office was so helpful, kind, and understanding. The procedure was super quick and easy (as they tell you!). Although it was a bit traumatizing being freshly postpartum and exhausted, the team was so comforting and reassuring. I had this strange expectation that once we had the procedure, breastfeeding would magically be fixed. This was indeed not the case -- it was a much longer haul to get back to a successful breastfeeding situation. We had the ties (4 total) released at around ~7 weeks, but it took several months afterwards to get fully back to successful breastfeeding with little to no pumping. I say this for anyone reading this to gain realistic expectations. We had to go back for lactation appointments (Heather was amazing!) and I was still having to pump around the clock for a few weeks. Our daughter is now 7 months old, exclusively breastfed, and absolutely thriving. In fact, she refuses the bottle at this point, which some people would be bummed about but is such a win for me. I took my daughter here 2 years ago and I am finally bringing myself to write a review. This day has left my daughter severely traumatized. we drove several hours because everything I read about team tongue tie in my tongue tie Facebook groups seemed amazing ! my daughter was 4 at the time, I mentioned on the phone my daughter is autistic and asked if they have any experience with children on the spectrum , they said oh yes absolutely all the time ! I felt so relieved - now I know that this doesn't mean they know HOW to work with autistic children. I didn't find out until the appointment confirmation that I couldn't be in the room with her for insurance purposes. but she was in feeding therapy and it felt like it was a necessary procedure so we went ahead and continued with appt. I asked if she can bring her favorite blankie and stuffies, they said they swaddled the child so in my mind they might as well swaddle her in something she's comfortable with! I even practiced this with her at home to prepare. they jumped right into it, it felt very rushed. dr alysa and her assistant took my daughter in the room and my daughter was nervous but she's typically more trusting of women, so she went. For the rest of my life, I will NEVER unhear her screaming the way she did that day. I was in the room crying and shaking and she screamed one final guttural OWWWWW. they let her out and as the door opened I saw what they had her on with velcro table that had her strapped down . I rushed her outside to console her and calm down myself. we had to go back in to learn stretches and the dr was totally insensitive and i didn't want to harm my daughter anymore by doing rough pressure . I assured her I would do it at home but that my daughters had enough for the day. but she wouldn't back down and really made me feel like I had zero say in my childs treatment. fast forward two years later my daughter cannot go into a dentist without a full blown panic attack we've now left 3 dentist offices because of how severe her trauma response is. she thinks they are going to hurt her. she still remembers smells from that day and tells me her mouth smelled "Smokey". the amount of regret I live with. If I could do it all over I wouldn't do it at all. I urge you if you have an older child and must have it done, please go to an airway dentist, someone who can sedate and not leave them totally traumatized like my daughter . read more

Finding the Team Tongue was a blessing! My baby would not latch in Hospital and even though Lactation Consultants mentioned possible Tongue ties, our pediatrician did not agree and she was WRONG! We had a zoom visit with Lactation Specialist who found us the best in SD and were able to get an appointment within the week. Not only did my baby had all four mouth ties removed, i learned SO much about breastfeeding, bottle usage and love the MAM binkies that are recommended. We came here in early 2020. I just thought about this experience again now that I'm pregnant with #2, and the experience still bothers me enough to come leave a review. I had a tremendously difficult time breastfeeding due to my son being born and immediately transferred to CHOC, where he stayed for nearly a month. While at CHOC, a LC told me I didn't have much breast tissue on one side and it could affect my supply. She was apparently correct. I did develop a supply issue, perhaps partially because I was not allowed to breastfeed my son and was not getting much results from pumping. After my son had surgery and came home, we continued to struggle with supply and I went to a Lactation Consultant who recommended I visit this place for a tongue tie treatment. First, yes, this place insisted on videos of you breastfeeding. I can't remember if I declined or not (my husband believes we declined). but I would never agree to that now. You have no idea who has access to these videos or how securely they're stored. Total creep material, and when every other LC just observed in person, it's completely unnecessary. We were told my son had numerous ties. Tongue and cheek. The procedure itself was quick, though they make you wait in the waiting room instead of being with your baby. They brought him back out with blood dripping all down the front of his onesie. I was immediately horrified at what I had done to him and was trying to clean the blood when they proceeded to tell me I had put him in the wrong size onesie and should start sizing him up. Excuse me? They had explained the aftercare would be "massages." No, they're not massages. It's firmly pressing and rubbing and pulling/stretching on an open wound. My son screamed and cried in pain, and when I reached out for help this place told me "Stick with it." I told them it was too painful for him after all he'd been through, and they basically said if I stopped the aftercare it would all be for naught and made me feel bad for wanting to stop. They told me he wasn't really in pain but it was just "uncomfortable for him like it would be if anyone stuck their fingers in your mouth!" They completely mislead you about what the recovery is like by using euphemisms like "stretching exercises." I did stop. My baby healed up. He's 3.5 now. He's totally fine. I had a milk supply issue, that's all. He ended up being supplemented with formula and we breastfed for 18 months. He has no speech problems. No eating problems. He didn't need this, and I wonder if they ever look at any patient and say this procedure isn't needed because every baby is going to have a frenulum. I'm now starting to wonder about this whole industry. There are two people involved in breastfeeding, and I was bamboozled into believing it couldn't possibly be my supply, it must be something wrong with the baby. Never again. read more

I can't say enough good things about not only Dr. Sacker, but the entire clinic. Everyone is super professional, knowledgeable and very caring. As soon as my son was born, he struggled to gain weight. At a month old he was only in the 3rd percentile for weight, and my Kaiser pediatrician sent me to the lactation consultant. The pediatrician told me I was probably breastfeeding my son wrong (wtf?!). At the lactation appointment, the nurse discovered my son was tongue tied. I had no idea this was a real medical thing. We were then recommended to see an ENT (ear nose throat) specialist, and that doctor and her boss both said my son did not need the procedure. I explained to them at 2 months old he was in the 3rd percentile for weight. The KAISER (who's slogan is "thrive") doctor then said "he just might need speech therapy and braces when he gets older". My blood boiled. Taking care of my child and providing preventive care is not in their best interest. I then was recommended Team Tongue Tie & right away everyone had my son's health and wellbeing front and center. They are all very knowledgeable, understanding and friendly. Three months after the procedure my son finally was in the 50th percentile for weight and no longer did he cluster feed. Our little one had been having trouble feeding and Scott understood our frustration and explained the whole process. My 5 year old son recently had tongue, lip, and cheek ties treated with Team Tongue Tie. These were affecting his speech, and they would cause dental issues down the line as well. His dentist and speech therapist both recommended we see Team Tongue Tie, and his Dr. at Kaiser also mentioned them as an alternate to the traditional tongue tie revision, which would require general anesthesia and was not something we were comfortable with. All three professionals agreed that he needed the tie revision, and that was confirmed by Dr Sacker during consultation as well. I would be misleading you if I told you that the whole process was "easy peasy". My son did scream during the procedure, and I did want to run in and rescue him. It was hard to hear, and I was thankful when the nurse came to distract me. I was thankful that it was over quickly! I asked him afterward if it hurt at all and he said no, he was just scared of the numbing medicine. He's never had any sort of numbing medicine in his mouth before, so that feeling was scary. Despite this, Dr. Sacker and her staff was so nice and caring toward him, that he was not scared to go back for his follow up two days later. The stretches are rough at first. It hurts, it's exhausting, but it's a short term thing. Stay the course, you'll get through it! It was less than 2 weeks before there wasn't any more pain and the stretches became a breeze to do. Okay, now to sing some praises! Dr. Sacker and her staff are positively wonderful. The nurses are very warm and caring, the office was beautiful and inviting. From the get-go, Scott explained thoroughly what to expect from the entire procedure and the aftercare, and explained Dr. Sacker's qualifications as well. He was available for further questions and was prompt in responding via phone and email. Dr Sacker is very knowledgeable, responsive, and empathetic. She is there to support you every step of the way, and encouraged me to send pictures if I felt unsure of how well I was doing the stretches (which I did, and she responded reassuringly). When we found out our baby had a tongue tie our chiro told us to look into laser. After a short google search we saw how awful and archaic it was for doctors to use scissors! We were referred here from our chiropractor, and we are so happy we were. When our chiropractor found my newborns tongue tie (and lip, and two cheeks), I called around to get a few quotes and also asked a mom group in the area for recommendations. I got the most for TTT, and it also was one of the most affordable (win win?). We loved this place. The staff is incredible and so friendly/helpful. They walked us through everything and spent so much time with us. I wasn't even aware of what a tongue tie really was before we went in, and now I feel like I know so much about them. It's been 4 years since my daughter underwent her procedure here. I am still traumatized and regret the procedure. I just had a new baby and was talking to my lactation consultant and she apologized for sending me here and said this place is no longer recommended. They make it seem like the procedure is easy and only takes a few seconds. They even added in the buccal tie saying it adds a few seconds to the procedure and has huge benefits. They forgot to mention the buccal tie recovery would be a grueling three weeks of torture. The recovery for the entire procedure was the most awful thing both my child and I have ever been through. I have now done my research and talked to many moms. The ones who came here had the same experience. The ones who had it done without the laser had a way gentler post op experience. Do your research and don't trust these people blindly. They are very nice and seem like they have all the answers but there are other opinions. I wish I could go back in time and reverse this. I think they should steer away from so many buccal tie revisions since that was the hardest to recover from. Just know going into this that the recovery is VERY difficult and it must be warranted to go through it. Don't do it if you have mild issues breastfeeding. Our baby was failure to thrive and would not take a bottle, the procedure hurt her so much it put us farther behind because she was on so much pain. This place is amazing and honestly I would do a higher rating if I could. They have great costumer service and helped me feel comfortable about the process before hand. They have changed my babies life! I spent over 2+ months in the NICU with my baby girl. She was born with a recessed lower jaw and a cleft palette. This made it hard for her to eat and breathe well. Her jaw gradually grew and breathing wasn't the problem anymore but she still couldn't eat all of her feeds so we had to get her a Gtube. After visiting my chiropractor I was recommended to remove her ties (which the hospital didn't even tell us she had until days before leaving but recommended us keeping them). We ended up removing the ties and she started eating so much better. Way more than I could have imagined to the point where we ended up being able to get her Gtube taken out. It was a rough journey for us but this has been amazing and although I still can't nurse, due to her palette, we are so happy she can eat enough food on her own. Thank you so much team tongue tie. Finding out my baby had a tongue tie was such a hard thing for me, I was devastated. When I discussed the options available I was further devastated until I learned more about this practice and their progressive approach to correcting this. Dr. Sacker got in touch with me right away, she was very easy to communicate with from the start. Between email, texting and calling we were able to get in right away with many questions answered up front. The entire team was so caring and supportive the whole process; I was a blubbering mess and they gave me time to work thro my emotions and didn't rush me to keep on a certain schedule. The procedure was a very short process and they gave my baby right back to me. The after care is intense, but they walk you through it (and answered every text I aimed at them the first day). I also really appreciate the lactation consultant being at the practice full time. If you're breastfeeding you're probably in pain and your baby will have to relearn entirely how to breastfeed correctly and having support is critical. We still have a ways to go but the methods really allow for long term success to correct a tongue tie. Both of our babies had mouth restrictions, but we only went to TTT for our second, and I'm so glad we did! If you want support for your child and for nursing, this is the place to go. Dr. Sacker is a tongue tie expert, and is incredibly knowledgeable about breast feeding as well. She also has an IBCLC on staff. Previously, we went to a dentist for a revision, and he referred us to lactation resources. TTT is a one stop shop if nursing is also challenging. The team is incredibly kind and professional, and they stayed with us and worked with us as long as we needed, not rushing us or hurrying to get on to the next patient. I think we stayed at least two hours at our first appointment! Extremely grateful to the Dr Sacker + the lactation consultants at Team Tongue Tie for their expertise, kindness and help with my baby. After breastfeeding my 1st child for over a year, I was surprised when my 2nd was born and we struggled with painful nursing, jaundice and general difficulty with feeding. There was no tie diagnosis at the hospital and I didn't get a lot of help from the pediatricians as to whether my baby had a tie despite noting issues and desperately seeking out lactation support services. As a mom though, I knew something was wrong and after a lot of late night searching I found Team Tongue Tie. Their lactation consultants got me seen right away and and provided helpful insight into what was happening. It is so refreshing to have a pediatrician who is also a ILBC!! (Why aren't all pediatricians trained in breastfeeding?!) At 11 days old they performed a lip, tongue and cheek release. I was extremely nervous about my newborn going through the procedure but they made me a lot more comfortable. The clinic is clean and the courtyard is beautiful and serene, which definitely helps calm nerves. While the procedure and aftercare was a little hard on baby (and mom) for a day or two, the release helped my baby to feed more effectively, eliminated the nursing pain and overall helped us to continue on our feeding journey. And now in hindsight I would absolutely do it again. My only point of feedback for the team is that the intake process was a bit overwhelming as a newly postpartum mom and I did decline some of the requests for photos as I did not feel comfortable sharing digitally. I was aware of this as some other reviewers have commented on this, but it would be nice to have a female walking me through the photos needed and doing the first client intake call and perhaps a simplified intake. Overall, I would highly recommend Team Tongue Tie- I'm grateful this practice exists as they fill a very niche yet important need, especially to help breastfeeding infants and moms. I was very anxious about the procedure. What if they made a mistake and cut my tongue off? What if I am unable to speak after the procedure is over? Team Tongue Tie is a well-oiled machine. They know exactly what they're doing! I still have my tongue and I speak even better than I did before the procedure. In fact, I instantly felt a change immediately after the procedure. I went from being tense and clenching my entire body to being able to exhale and relax a bit. My smile improved immediately. I no longer see my gum line. Just my pearly whites! I have so many wins from this procedure. I am sleeping deeper, and even though I am not sleeping as long yet, I have more energy and can last the entire day without a nap! My ears were clogged with pressure all the time and it was hard to hear. Three doctors told me I needed hearing aids. Three Eustachian Tube surgeries did little to help. Now that my mouth has been set free from being bound up with all the ties, my ears have less pressure and I can hear much better. And finally, after almost two years of weekly chiropractic neurology appointments, my doctor is finally making progress with my neck and shoulders. At age 35 I realized I had a tongue tie. My entire life has been plagued with extremely tight neck and shoulder muscles. I also snore and had jaw soreness after talking. These were just a few reasons I thought a frenectomy would help me. After doing my research I called Team Tongue Tie and left a message. I had no idea what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when the doctor's husband called me back. He was very friendly and explained everything to me and spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me. I was instructed to send videos of my tongue/mouth to the Doctor so she could evaluate if I needed to come in. I made my appointment shortly after I received her evaluation. On the morning of my appointment, I was very nervous but my instinct was that this procedure would really help me. Luckily my husband came with me to help calm my nerves. The staff at Team Tongue Tie were so incredibly kind and comforting. Dr. Sacker explained everything to me and actually informed me that I had not only a tongue tie, but also two lip ties and two buccal ties. This was quite a shock to me and I was worried that my face might alter if those were lasered but Dr. Sacker took extra time with me to reassure me and show me before and after photos. It did not feel like I was being rushed at all. I wanted to proceed and was given the numbing cream and waited. The procedure itself was simple and fast. It felt like a burning sensation but was so quick that it wasn't very painful. The experience after was better than I could have imagined. When I sat up I felt my neck and shoulder muscles release for the first time. Oddly, my teeth were also chattering due to the release of tension. Euphoric is the word I use to describe how I felt afterwards. It was truly euphoric. My tongue could now touch behind my molars and the roof my mouth for the first time! My body felt so incredibly relaxed and it felt intensely emotional. I felt like I was about to burst into tears (in a good way). Dr. Sacker explained the massages I needed to do and I went on my way. After walking out the door I hugged my husband and started crying. My body felt fully relaxed for the first time in my life. It was an amazing sensation. The whole drive home I was astonished at how good I felt! I realized this was how my body was supposed to feel my entire life. It is now two weeks after the procedure and my neck and shoulders are still loose and relaxed. My neck and shoulder range of motion has increased. I no longer wake up every morning with neck pain. When I do yoga and I can feel that my whole body can stretch much farther, down to my feet. My feet grip the floor now. I feel more balanced in my hips. I can now speak without jaw fatigue and can enunciate clearly. My face also looks better due to the release of the lip and buccal ties. The buccal ties were weighing my eye bags down. My face looks softer and my top lip fuller. I also noticed that I have more restful sleep. As far as pain - the first two days I felt soreness but nothing too extreme. Eating was a bit uncomfortable, but I was able to eat anything. I didn't need to take any ibuprofen after the second day. We tried scheduling with team tongue tie after being referred to them by our lactation consultant to get a second opinion on whether or not our son needed a tongue tie operation. She wasn't 100% sure. I called team tongue tie and was given a very salesy pitch by the doctor's husband. After the long pitch, I asked if there was any chance that, after taking a look at our son's mouth, there might be a situation in which they thought there wasn't a tongue tie and a recommendation that we not go forward with the procedure. His response was to scoff at the idea that my son might not need one, even though they hadn't yet seen my son or had a consultation. It immediately felt uncomfortable. But I hesitantly went ahead and set an appointment anyways. Then, every day for four days after I set the appointment, they texted me and threaten to take the appointment away if I didn't fill out the portal forms immediately. Having a newborn who didn't sleep or eat fully made filling out forms a low priority especially with an appointment set for two weeks out. When I asked if they had anything sooner the doctor's husband dismiss me and told me to find someplace else to be treated. I was pretty shocked at the response but I think it's a good thing in the end. I set an appointment with Little Star Dentistry who were immediately more empathetic and professional. I have to say the doctor's husband's aggressive and constant text messages and voicemails made for quite a poor experience with team tongue tie. It's disappointing because I'm sure it's not a reflection of his wife's work. read more

This place was great- from the first call I knew this was the route we would go. The initial person I spoke to gave me all the info I needed. He wasn't sugarcoating or fluffing anything up which was what I needed. I scheduled a consult and they could do the operation right away. SAME COST if it was one or 5 (in our case) ties. That was reassuring to me, I knew they wouldn't do more of it wasn't needed because they would get the same $ anyhow. The procedure was fast and everything they said would happen did. They were kind and sweet with our little girl and made us feel at ease. The aftermath was terrible, so be prepared! Having to put your finger and press in your little ones cheeks, tongue and gums stinks, but she is all healed up and talks more like they said she would! read more

I had first heard of TTT before my baby was even born! Another mom/friend told me about her experience with them and expressed how great they were for her and her baby girl. I first contacted TTT when I was battling mastitis and Scott was so kind and sympathetic to my pain and struggle. I sent them video of my LO latching and was told it was too shallow and they referred me to a lactation consultant they recommend. After my visit with the LC, I contacted TTT to set up a consultation and their instructions were very well laid out and I knew exactly what was going to happen, no surprises. Everyone at TTT is friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They explain everything very well and eased our worries about the procedure and aftercare. The aftercare stretches/exercises are no joke, I think I shed more tears than my baby. You can see that they LOVE babies and make themselves available to their patients at any hour! My daughter is now over 2 weeks post procedure & we have seen a HUGE improvement in her health! She is no longer needing any meds for the symptoms she was enduring prior to procedure. It's so sad what ties can do to a baby. In fact, she has gained 2 lbs in just 2 weeks! It shows how much her eating has improved. Wow! After being sent to all the wrong places for years, no one would help us with our third child's tongue tie. First the lockdown when she was an infant, so no way to get in anywhere. It's been a few weeks since my newborn had her tongue, lip and buccal ties lasered and since I'm nap trapped on the couch I've got some time to gush about Team Tongue Tie. My baby lost close to 15% of her birth weight by the time her procedure was done because she wasn't able to transfer milk efficiently. She'd get tired after a couple of sucks and fall asleep. Her suck was much much weaker than my first child so I knew something was up. Within 2 weeks of her revision, she plumped right up to birth weight and then some. We were referred to TTT by our pediatrician. I called and spoke with Scott who was incredibly thorough when explaining the procedure and benefits of having it done. We were seen a couple of days later and Dr. Sacker examined my baby's mouth and determined she had tongue, lip and buccal ties. She and Dr. Berger completed the procedure right after the exam. Following that, Jarrah, the in house lactation consultant, showed me how to do the aftercare stretches. I also nursed immediately after the procedure and could notice an immediate difference in the way she latched. Over the course of the last few weeks, her suck has continued to get stronger and she has much more stamina. I felt very comfortable and well informed during the whole process and would recommend Team Tongue Tie to anyone who is having breastfeeding issues. Everyone is an IBCLC and knowledgeable about how to overcome breastfeeding challenges. I'm probably forgetting some details, but this nap is looking like it's over. Long overdue review!! After my son was born the lactation consultant at the hospital mentioned he had a lip tie but told me to monitor, fast forward to one week later my nipples were bleeding, chapped and every latch was so painful. I knew this wasn't normal so I had another lactation consultant come to my home. She mentioned the lip tie and that I should definitely get it corrected. She along with the hospital recommended Team Tongue Tie, after reading all their reviews and their website it seemed like a no brainer. My husband was skeptical as to why we had to drive so far, I told him... they are the best and only the best for our son!! Due to a cancelled appointment we were able to get in fairly quickly. Once we arrived, all of the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They explained the procedure, explained the ties, etc etc. the procedure was extremely fast, our son didn't even cry that much. Afterwards we met with the lactation consultant who showed us how to do the stretches post procedure (super important). It wasn't too overwhelming but they let us know if we have any questions to give them a call or text which was awesome. They also book a few follow up appointments to ensure the healing and stretches are going well. All the staff are so nice and knowledgeable. The debate of going to a pediatric dentist vs a whole practice dedicated to ties ....it's pretty obviously which to pick and I'm sooooooo glad I trusted my gut on this one. Side note- they have snacks up front which if ur traveling from far and you are a sleep deprived mama is awesome. It's the little things sometimes If your baby has a tongue - lip tie... My husband and I just had the most incredible experience at Team Tongue Tie. As a first time mom, I had been to a lactation consultant and told her I had planned on getting a frenectomy done with the pediatrician.
