As a first time mom, I had been to a lactation consultant and told her I had planned on getting a frenectomy done with the pediatrician. She immediately turned me to the team tongue tie as they are properly trained in what they do and they do it dang well! We met Dr. Sacker and she immediately made us feel so comfortable and explained the procedure. Little guy got his procedure done and then they had a lactation consultant (Heather) assistance afterwards with breast-feeding I cannot explain the positive difference in my breast feeding situation so much relief! This review has been a long time coming, but when you're a first time mom, life tends to get busy. =) When we went to Team Tongue Tie, my son was 4 months old. I had spoken to the team over the phone and was super impressed with the time, thought, and care they spent just talking to me--someone whose son might not even become a patient of theirs. I was on the phone for 20+ minutes talking about my little one, how I had researched ties and how I was pretty sure that my baby had at least a lip tie, and I was hopeful that having it revised could help his reflux, which he had been suffering with for months. I was told that I could come in for a consultation, and if we wanted, we could head right home after the consultation or we could stay and have the procedure done (if necessary) and if that was our preference. There was no pressure at all. And that's exactly what happened. My husband, our nanny, and I all headed in for a consultation with the idea that we'd speak with the experts, talk to them about the research that we'd already done, and learn about what the situation was specific to our son. Did he have a lip tie? Were there any other ties that we should be aware of? How has it been impacting him? How could it impact him in the future? All of these questions were answered. He had 4 ties in total--lip, tongue, and cheeks. Based on watching him feed from the bottle and latch and unlatch, Dr. Sacker was confident that having the procedure would help his reflux because he did not have a good "seal" around the nipple with his latch. If it's not sealed, inevitably air gets in and can cause reflux. What I appreciated most was that we were presented with the facts. While she was confident that the revisions would help him to some degree, she wasn't going to make a guess as to the extent. She was very upfront in saying there was no way to predict that. She presented us with the facts that it would improve his reflux at least somewhat, and with a babe who was suffering, we wanted to do everything we could to help him. We got his ties fixed and his seal on the bottle was night and day, but not immediately, as his tongue had to learn a whole new motion! This experience with this team was life-changing for us. They came into our lives as experts in a space that these new parents knew nothing about. We were incredibly grateful for their policy of one-time payment and as many follow-ups/visits as you'd like. Their follow-through was second to none, even asking that our nanny attend the consultation in the event we did move forward with the procedure, as it would be important for her to learn about the after-care too. From the length of this post, it's obvious that I can't say enough about Team Tongue Tie, but just like I did, at the very least go in for a consultation with them. It can't hurt! =) read more

When my baby was having a painful latch with feeding problems, I looked around for a specialist for lip and tongue tie revision, and was excited to go with team tongue tie because of their 5-star rating. I really should've first read the 1-star reviews before going with them. When I called, the doctor's husband, Scott, who I guess is their office manager and main receptionist, was very off-putting. First of all, he kept me on the phone for 20 minutes, when all I wanted was to schedule a consultation with the doctor. He came off so salesy with his lengthy explanations and questions, and made me uncomfortable with his very personal questions about my nipples and feeding. These are questions that should be between the doctor or nurse and the patient, not for an office manager to ask. Especially a male. I went ahead and ignored my intuition and scheduled a consult with them, because I was focusing on the great reviews. Then came the even stranger part. Scott sent an email requesting videos and photos of the way the baby is latching, and my breasts before and after a feeding. Apparently it's for the doctor to review before the consultation. I was about to send it, but as I was taking the photos, I felt deeply uncomfortable with the fact that I'm about to send very personal photos to a male who I don't trust. And why would they even need these photos if I'm already coming for a consultation during which the doctor can observe me breastfeeding or take a look at my breasts in person? Why should these photos even go through the office manager? I let Scott know that I'd rather not send photos. Then I went to verify insurance coverage and found that my coverage was low. I decided to look around first and see if there was another doctor who would be in-network and covered by my insurance, so I texted to cancel a few hours before the appointment. At that point Scott did what some of the other bad reviews mentioned. He said I should look elsewhere for tongue tie revision. I was pretty shocked (I hadn't read the other reviews yet). I understand charging a cancellation fee if it's less than 24 hours, but to deny service to the patient is pretty ridiculous. It sounded vindictive. He tried to say it was because cost sounded like an issue to me, so it wouldn't be a good fit. Which is also so inappropriate to reject a patient based on the office manager's interpretation of my financial position. I ended up going with little star pediatric dentistry for my baby's tongue and lip tie revisions. The phone call there took less than 5 minutes, no photos or videos were requested, and I still paid an out-of-network price, one that was actually higher than team tongue tie's, but was 100x more comfortable with the whole experience. If you do go with team tongue tie, at least think twice before sending photos. I wouldn't trust Scott for a second. And of course they're going to respond to this being all defensive like they did for the other negative reviews. Maybe they should instead try to learn from their mistakes and clean up their practice. read more

The only place where I felt heard, believed in and reassured. When our pediatrician insisted there was not tongue or lip tie I felt defeated. This was my second baby and I knew something was OFF with the latch. Having successfully and exclusively breast fed my first for 21 months I KNEW something wasn't feeling right. We just didn't know that our tiny 3 week old suffering from an upper lip tie, lower submucosal tongue tie and buccal ties. I had our first miracle and breastfed him for over 2 years with little to no issue. So once our second miracle arrived, & she latched immediately, I was elated! Lactation, twice, told me she had a perfect latch. Not once did they check her mouth. At 3 weeks when I was having increasing nipple pain, and my sweet baby was so gassy she would cry inconsolably after she ate until she finally relieved her stomach gas- along with some other symptoms- I naturally turned to google. *I must give a disclaimer here: dr google can be dangerous so I typically avoid that route; however my search quickly lead me to possible tongue or lip tie.* I started searching in the San Diego area for c02 lasers for frenectomy, as I absolutely wouldn't consider any other solution (I have experience in dental) My search lead me to Team Tonge Tie. THE CALL- Their system is a mailbox in which they say they'll call back. I specifically need to highlight Scott here. He called me back within 3 minutes. At first, I was a little hesitant to dive into a conversation, vs just schedule a consult. However, I was completely taken aback as to the knowledge Scott has about breastfeeding, tongue/ lip and buccal ties. Scott was so genuine on the phone- and invested in having that conversation with me; setting the tone for our overall experience. CONSULT- We came in thinking she had an upper lip tie, only to find out she had a lower submucosal tongue tie - (our sweet babe couldn't even stick her tongue out of her mouth!) along with buccal ties. No wonder she was gassy, uncomfortable and my nipples hurt! TRUST- it isn't often we meet someone and almost instantly, trust them. The trust started with Scott, continued with Dr. Sacker and finished with Jarrah. Any anxiety melted away almost instantly upon talking with Dr. Sacker. COMMUNICATION- Every email. Every text. Responded to, and quickly. We're talking within 15 min or less (even in the evening/after hours) SUPPORT- Again, I find myself almost baffled at the amount of support TTT and their team provide. This day in age, "service" has somewhat fallen to the wayside- not here though. Every step, explained. Every question answered. Not once, did I feel rushed or as if they had "other patients" to see. I was welcomed to nurse/and get support for as long as we needed to feel comfortable. I've been invited back in between scheduled follow ups, if I feel the need to ensure proper healing is being achieved. Jarrah was so sweet and kind when I was struggling a bit to get that first latch. She's respectful and gently guides momma and baby. (You've probably read other reviews by now, but Jarrah is an IBLBC, who literally is all about the aftercare and feeding. Breast or bottle) RESULTS- Our little miracle has had pretty notable results. Her latch is much deeper, she is transferring very well, she is no longer gassy after feeding. My review would be incomplete if I didn't mention aftercare. This is where it gets tough, because you as the parent have to commit to doing the aftercare. It's not easy hearing that precious little miracle of yours screaming because you just massaged their little mouth... but it is essential. Aftercare is literally the reason TTT exists, because in the hospital world, proper aftercare wasn't being afforded to Dr. Sacker. She couldn't do her job properly in that setting, so she started TTT so she could do what was right for each patient and that includes aftercare. (I learned about her story and was blown away) My suggestion to anyone who is reading this review & searching- your search ends here with Dr. Sacker and her incredible team. The Process & what to expect This place is amazing!!! My friend recommended this place to me, so we drove from LA to get the procedure done here. We had a great experience here! From start to finish, it was as good as it possibly could be! The office is inviting for kids - it's cozy with couches, complete with a play corner and even a tv with access to Netflix or Hulu shows. They play their favorite show, and do the exam right there in that front area. When it's time for the procedure, there's another tv in the operating room, to help calm them. They take before pictures, and do the procedure, and they are done within 12 minutes (and that's a long version). My 3 y/o daughter had 5 releases done (upper and lower lips, top cheeks on both side and her tongue all done at once, and she was in and out of that room in 11 minutes). They numb the area with topical so they don't actually feel pain, even though they still scream. I didn't go in with her- I went outside and walked around to help calm my heart and prepare it to comfort her. They use a cold laser that cauterizes the area immediately so there isn't a ton of blood. Afterwards, they teach you how to do the stretches, AND PLEASE DO THEM!!! Those areas will absolutely re-attach, so just push through the 2 weeks, and commit so they don't have to go through that stuff again. I wish I would have caught this problem earlier, as stretching a 3 y/o is a lot harder than a 3 month old, but glad it's done! Anyways, we spent 2 hours driving each way to go here, and I would do it again! Dr Sacker and Dr Berger are awesome! So warm and understanding, and very knowledgeable. I've already recommended more friends to this place- and they too made the drive. Each procedure requires a total of 3 visits- so know this when you plan it! The days are: 1) the initial consultation and procedure, 2) 2 days after, and 3) 2 weeks after. They don't take insurance but they do give you a superbill to submit to insurance so that insurance can reimburse you. But in my opinion, it's worth it, even if I didn't get the reimbursement. I made it worthwhile for my daughter Bc we would promise her ice cream afterwards. There's a place really close, maybe a mile away- called "Sugar & Creme" that has super fun treats (ie mermaid milkshake/ unicorn sundaes, etc)- so Check them out too! It took her about a week to not be as sensitive to her stretches, but now that she's all healed, I've noticed a big difference in her speech (not lisping, and is pronouncing things better), and her smile is more relaxed, and her gap is closing. If you're on the fence, JUST DO IT! It's a short term pain for a forever gain. read more

Totally worth it! I knew to check my baby girl as soon as she was born after suffering with clogged milk ducts etc with my last daughter & a frenectomy at 11mos old. It was NOT a pleasant experience. When I came to Team Tongue Tie, I was at my wit's end with breastfeeding. I was using a nipple shield to help with the pain, and my son was nursing for over an hour sometimes. And then would be hungry again in an hour, so I was nursing constantly. We were supplementing with formula a couple bottles a day because I wasn't producing enough and he seemed unsatisfied after meals. If I tried to feed without the shield, I would have level 8 or 9 pain, even with help from lactation consultants. I saw 2 hospital LC's, plus 2 that I hired after the hospital, 2 pediatric chiropractors, 2 hospital pediatricians, and our pediatrician, asked them all about the pain, the latch, etc. Everyone said latch was good, no ties. 1 LC and 1 chiropractor said they thought maybe but weren't sure and finally the chiropractor referred me to Team Tongue Tie to make sure. Within 10 seconds of looking in my son's mouth, they diagnosed the tongue, lip and cheek ties. We had them fixed that same day. Prior to meeting Team Tongue, I had actually earlier that day done a weighted feed with an LC and he got 1.8oz in 45 mins of nursing. After the Tie revision he nursed for 10-15 mins and got 3.8 oz! I've been nursing now for almost 8 months, though I was never able to establish a full supply after 2 months of misdiagnoses so we supplement. Drs. Are absolutely amazing! Patient, sweet, kind, and very informative. I first took in my 4 year old, we have had a long journey of drs after drs not knowing what was wrong with him. He, had a split tongue, would throw up absolutely EVERYDAY, and from the age of one he started cutting out food till he was only drinking milk and two other foods. I was tired of other drs telling me they didn't know what he had (yes he even got checked for tongue tie plenty of times and they always said it wasn't tongue tie) after going to a neurologist and him saying he didn't know what was wrong with him, to him having so many stomach problems because he wouldn't eat! I'm so blessed to have found Team Tongue Tie! When I tell you they did a miracle on my child it's an understatement! My son had tongue tie and upper lip tie! I saw a difference the very next day! I first learned about Team Tongue Tie after realizing that my health problems were directly connected to my tied down tongue. I remember thinking they probably only performed frenectomies on children...so I didnt immediately contact them. Instead I made an appointment with another dentist. But the more I thought about it, the more I worried I became that they might not perform frenectomies often enough to really know the process. I decided to reach out to TTT in the hopes they may treat adults too, and BOOM they totally do XD Imagine my joy when they were able to see me way quicker than the other dentist, and potentially do the lasering off on the same day :O The lasering process was super quick! The Dr. quickly evaluated and even recommended removing my lip ties and a cheek tie (which I didnt even know i had!). They used a topical anesthetic, left it on for about 15 min and then you're good to go. The lasering itself was painless and super quick! Literally she was done within 15 minutes. She taught me the stretches to do and gives you a little bag of aftercare goodies and boom you're done. They're super attentive and quick to respond with any questions you may have. I have found Team Tongue Tie, after researching the causes of TMJ issues, neck pain back pain, headaches and all other issues I suffer from. I wasn't sure they do adults, but luckily, I saw another review stating they actually do. I live in LA and I contacted a place here first, but it was one of those fancy, overhyped places. I don't doubt their abilities. But I found Team Tongue Tie and I thought, if moms take their babies to them and they are satisfied that is a pretty good indication that they care a lot. I emailed, they answered right away and then we had a phone call when they explained everything. I scheduled my appointment right then, the next Monday I had the procedure done in about an hour. They were very kind and understanding, they made sure I was numb and stayed with me and helped me feel better when I felt a little nauseous. I easily get that when I am scared or nervous before a medical procedure. It does freak me out a lot. The procedure itself is a little bit uncomfortable but nothing I could not bare. It wasn't really pain just a sense of feeling that something was being done there. It was pretty quick maybe 5 mins for all my ties (5 altogether, two of them I was not even able to find myself before). It is a little bit painful the first day ( this is where I am now) and there is a little bit of bleeding right when I massage it, but overall it isn't as bad. The doctor is really awesome, I can text her if I am unsure of anything. I can also send photos of my mouth if needed. Personally, I have been pretty confident that this was definitely part of my TMJ issue. I can tell anyone who is suffering from that, once I had the procedure done, I already felt one thing! I was not able to turn my head over my shoulders before, when I was trying to look on my left while driving, I had to tip my head down and then turn cause I wasn't able to do that straight up. Now I don't have to tip my head forward at all. I am sure my muscles need to adjust but this is already huge for me. They also gave me a list of Myofunctional exercises that will help my tongue to get in shape for this new situation. That is definitely super important if you care about how your tongue will function. She told us he had a tongue tie which validated our challenges but was also hard news. Team Tongue Tie has been amazing from start to finish. Dr. Sacker went above and beyond to make sure my daughter's needs were taken care of. There was even a day outside of our appointments where I felt it needed to be re-checked in case my daughter's little Wolverine mouth was regenerating the tongue tie, and Dr. Sacker graciously came in on her day off during the holidays to help. We originally had it clipped in the hospital after her birth, but later found out the reason I was having continued trouble breastfeeding was that it was not fully released. The doctors here are very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They give their patients free access to call or text the doctors for any questions. I would 100% make the same decision to come back again. The surgery itself was difficult to listen to (baby crying), but it was quick and the follow up exercises need to be done, as painful as it is for the poor baby. My LO healed and started gaining weight within a couple of weeks. The first few days I supplemented with a bottle to make sure she was getting enough milk. By the end of two weeks, my weighed feeds increased from 2.5 oz to 4-5 oz per feed. I couldn't believe it and had to do a few more weighted feeds to convince myself. LO is now a couple of months post op and she has been steadily gaining 1.5-2 lbs per month exclusively breastfeeding. read more

We just finished our two week follow up and I couldn't be happier with the amazing support Team Tongue Tie provided in this difficult and emotional journey. Dealing with oral restrictions is probably any parents worst nightmare but Dr. Sacker, Dr. Berger, their nurses and lactation consultants are there to get you through it. For my firstborn, Team Tongue Tie wasn't around yet. So I can tell you from experience, how much better it was the second time around. It was amazing to not have to worry how knowledgeable my provider was in treating posterior tongue ties, to not have to worry if they were using the most up to date techniques, to not have to worry about finding a lactation consultant knowledgeable in oral ties and their specific latch issues. It was simply amazing to not have to worry about anything except breastfeeding my baby and ensuring the site didn't reattach. It was amazing to have my baby's site heal after just 2 weeks of stretches! To help you understand fully, let me tell you what it was like with my firstborn, WITHOUT Team Tongue Tie and all that they offer. I was first told: "Just get a deeper latch. Your nipples will toughen up. Posterior tongue ties don't exist. Just give a bottle and formula, my kid turned out just fine (while this is TRUE, it wasn't respecting or supporting my wish to exclusively breastfeed, I felt so alone and unsupported)".... Then there was the weight loss, the jaundice, the choking on the bottle, the reflux. No one believed in posterior ties but none of them were able to give any solutions either! Eventually insurance referred us to an ENT, a frenectomy was performed with scissors and no anesthesia. They handed me a bleeding baby and told me to just breastfeed and it will be fine. Symptoms went away.... temporarily. Eventually the nipple pain, choking, reflux and breastfeeding constantly returned. I began to do hours of research and found Dr Ghaheri's website and a facebook support group. I then learned I hadn't been taught stretches to prevent reattachment. When my baby was 10 months, she was still unable to eat baby food. She would choke on everything, purreed or solid. i finally found a dentist who did laser and taught me to do some stretches 6 times a day for 6 weeks. 3 hours after her laser frenectomy, she was able to eat solids. However there was no lactatio support, no pain relief, and no therapies to aid healing so it took a long painful 6 weeks. I paid about the same amount, out of pocket, no superbill for reimbursement. They also missed her buccal ties so she now has dental crowding still. my firstborn is now 6 and when shes ready, her and I plan to get taken care of at TeaM Tongue Tie! Honestly if there is any hope in increasing breastfeeding rates in America, this needs to be the standard of care in treating oral ties! read more

No medical/surgical procedure for anyone or anything, especially a baby, should feel like a high pressure sales pitch. I was referred here by an IBCLC at Babies in Bloom for a presumed "posterior tongue tie" because my (third) newborn had suddenly started acting very fussy during her feedings and throughout the day. This "referral" was incorrect and should not have happened. My impression is that these two businesses refer people back and forth to each other often. The office manager at Team Tongue Tie, who is married to the doctor, would not let me schedule an examination without an over-the-phone commitment to do the surgery immediately afterward "if determined it's needed." This made me uncomfortable, so I sought out second opinions from our pediatrician and pediatric dentist before considering making just a, still expensive, consultation appointment (which did not feel like TTT's preferred appointment type. They wanted me to promise to do an expensive and painful procedure on my baby without ever having seen her. Their assurances that they never do unnecessary procedures felt a little disingenuous). Long story short-ish, neither our pediatrician nor our dentist felt there was anything wrong with our baby's tongue. We even paid for an out of network private practice appointment with a highly recommended pediatric ENT who also specializes in tongue ties, just to be thorough, because the internet seems to pit pediatricians and tongue tie people against each other so much; how are parents supposed to not be confused? The ENT, who took the time to sit down with us and have a thorough conversation and examination, also said that she had absolutely no tongue tie or problems in her mouth. None of these three doctors had positive opinions of Team Tongue Tie. They all either implied or blatantly said that they felt confident that had we gone ahead with a meeting with TTT, they would have undoubtedly recommended doing the laser procedure on our daughter even though there was no need. It's been a handful of weeks since then, and it turns out she was just a colic-y baby who was prone to tummy aches and needed to develop her little digestive system a little more. At two-and-a-half-months-old she now eats perfectly fine and is much happier and more comfortable. No laser required. I was also uncomfortable by TTT's request that I take videos and photos of my breasts and nipples at home before and after feeding and email them to their office before the appointment -- "secure server" or not. When I asked why they didn't just observe a nursing session in person during the appointment to determine any signs of latching issues, I was told there wasn't enough time. The ENT we met with made plenty of time for this. I'm sure TTT has helped babies and children with real tongue ties, but for me there were just too many red flags of unnecessary procedures and churning through patient$. I very much recommend getting second opinions before letting newborn nerves rush you here. read more

It's taken me almost 7 months to write a review thanks to that new mom life but it's finally happening! Team Tongue Tie was BEYOND AMAZING! My first pregnancy and delivery happened in 2020; to say nothing went as planned is the understatement of the century. So after navigating all of the chaos and so many disappointments it was such a tremendous relief to be met with such wonderfully caring, knowledgeable, competent staff at Team Tongue Tie. It was clear within my baby's first month that she didn't seem to be breastfeeding as efficiently as she should be. I was referred to Team Tongue Tie by a lactation consultant and oh what a difference they made!!! They explained everything so clearly and their entire process is so straightforward. I was nervous at first because I had never heard of tongue, lip or cheek ties. I wanted to make sure I had enough information to make an informed decision and that the information I was getting was from a trusted source. Team Tongue Tie truly are experts; the information they shared was so helpful and here's the best part.... after having my baby's tongue, cheek and lip ties removed, the opening of her mouth practically DOUBLED right there in the office after the procedure. Poor baby couldn't open her mouth enough to latch effectively. It was incredible how big of a difference if made! My baby is almost 10 months old now and we're still breastfeeding! Was recommended by my newborn's chiropractor to this gem of an establishment. After struggling with breastfeeding my little guy for 4 weeks and being so close to giving up because the pain was so excruciating, I consulted with a lactation consultant who felt he had a tongue tie. My baby had been evaluated 3 times by a pediatrician who swore my baby didn't have any ties, so I was both sad and relieved to learn he likely did have ties. My experience with Team Tongue Tie started with a lengthy yet very informative phone conversation with Scott. He listened to my pleas for help and talked me through the process they use for evaluation, revision, and recovery. I was also very happy to get a next day appointment. At the consult, we learned that our little one had a tongue tie, lip tie, and bilateral cheek ties! No wonder the poor guy couldn't latch properly! We brought our son to Team Tongue Tie at the recommendation of a lactation consultant and are so glad we did. Doctor Sacker and her team of Lactation consultants were extremely informative and helpful. They made us feel very comfortable with taking the leap for the procedure to reverse our sons tongue, lip, and cheek ties. It is so nice to know they are available for any questions after the procedure and follow ups all on site. The affects of the tongue tie revision were AMAZING. We are so thankful gir Dr.Sacker and the rest of Team Tongue Tie! Our lactation consultant recommended them after evaluating our son's latch and noticed he had cheek, lip, and tongue tie, hence why breastfeeding was so incredibly painful. We got an appointment with them the next day thanks to Scott who handled our phone consultation. He was so incredibly kind and personable and really made us feel taken care of just through a phone call! The next day we met with the team and they were all SO kind and personable. Dr.Sacker really took her time evaluating our son's ties and explained to us how the procedure would work and what we could expect as a result of it. It's very quick-- he was in the room for less than ten minutes before he was back with us. She told us we should notice pretty immediate results and their lactation consultant Liz came in to explain the aftercare/stretches and watched how he latched. She provided very helpful tips as to how to improve our breastfeeding journey and was so incredibly patient with us. We are a little over three weeks post procedure and the difference is instrumental. There is no longer pain or biting when breastfeeding! The stretches were vigorous and a lot to do, but now that we're past the two week mark it was completely worth it. The follow up appointments went fantastic and our little guy is gaining weight nicely!
