For over $80 they sold me a refurbished charger for my Macbook pro that does not work properly. It overheats my computer and the terminal is not properly attached, leaving the cables exposed. I was downtown all day while my brother was at work. While I was wandering around the city, I happened to see this place. I knew my phone needed a new battery or some repair (my fully charged phone would die in less than an hour), but was pretty nervous about going into this store. After consulting with yelp, I decided to go in. I never asked the guys name who helped me, but he took a look at my phone, told me indeed that I needed a new battery, it would be a little under $50 to fix and to give him an hour. I happily signed on the dotted line given a new Iphone would be over $300. I walked around the city for about 45 minutes, came back and my phone was already done. In the process of talking to the guy who fixed my phone, he also gave me an awesome lunch recommendation. I've never felt so comfortable handing my phone over to someone and one week later, my new phone battery lasts a full day. Great service, affordable options, and great conversation and lunch recommendations. My cousin brought my badly smashed iPad air off at Spring Street Mac to have the screen replaced after an unfortunate accident. They fixed it the same day, which was awesome. I went to pick it up and they wouldn't release it to me, even though I had the passcode and described all of the information/apps on my iPad. They said that my cousin needed to be the one to call in. 30 mins and $5 of parking later someone yells from the back, "Oh yeah, she called and said someone else would be picking it up." I was frustrated, but my iPad was fixed (the same day) so I didn't worry too much about it. This was a few months ago. A few weeks ago I started to notice that the screen was starting to come apart. Last week the touch sensitivity went crazy. My iPad started flickering and opening apps, closing apps... it was possessed. This morning I called in to see if they could take a look at it. It was a few days over the warranty but they said to come by and they'd look at it. If it was just that the screen needed to be glued back down, they'd take care of it. If anything needed to be replaced, however they'd need to charge me. They looked at it and quelle surprise, decided it needed a new screen. I told them that that was the screen they put on, so it it was broken then they should replace it for free. They said that it didn't matter because it was past warranty and the fact that they were even looking at it for free was a favor they were doing me. Then, and this is my favorite part, they graciously offered to cut me a deal if I let them repair it... again. I decided against that and left, feeling pretty upset. The manager called my later in the day about this issue and agreed that the ipad should be fixed under the warranty. They not only replaced the screen the same day, but offered to ship it to me as getting downtown from Redondo Beach can be a bit tough on my days off. Told them that wasn't necessary and picked it up, but appreciated the good customer service. REALLY happy that the manager stepped in and quickly rectified this situation. And my ipad looks good as new! read more

So I drop off my little one at school and accidently dropped my phone on the driveway of the school, i realized it until an hour later when i retraced my steps. My iphone 4 was shattered from the front and back! It had been run over maybe multiple times but was still working though, even the camera was intact. I went online right away and found Spring Street Mac. I made an appointment with Kyle for that same day and drove to the store since they could only quote the repair charge after seeing the phone. I was told it would be fixed in 45 minutes so I walked across the street and had a great lunch. I wasn't told how much it would cost. I picked a baby blue front and back for it and now I have a very cool and unique phone. Everyone who sees it compliments me on it and I'm very happy with the repairs. The only thing I can say is that I didn't expect to pay $165 for the repair. Just the service charge (labor?) is $60, the blue cover (front and back) cost $86m, then there was the recycle fee and the blue home button (both $11). Overall I am happy and it was less then buying a new i phone 4. The guys are nice and friendly. One last thing.... be prepared to pay for parking as I did find street parking for $4 but you may have to pay up to $10 for a surface lot. read more

They price their cheap connectors the same as a mac connector would cost but the quality is really bad. They definitely don't know how to fix the screen on an iPhone! I have change it one time it wasn't good I brought it back just to be fixed still not good enough. After few weeks it got broken again because the glass was not press down all the way. I went back and they said it is not the same case and that it been fall down on the floor. I had to ask for discount few times and they gave me one but.... One day after and and now the glass is over pressed to the phone so every time I talk on the phone holding it to my ear, my chick starting different apps or voice command. My macbook pro dropped a couple feet onto the floor at work and the screen went haywire/black immediately thereafter - I took it in to Spring St Mac and the folks there were friendly yet concerned after I told them what happened. They turned the laptop on and everything was working fine, but I told them that had happened for me earlier on in the day. They didn't seem to think it would be a major repair issue (a wire gone wrong after the drop) and that turned out to be correct. They offered to do a hard-drive cleanup and while I could've skipped it, I went for it, given my laptop is over 4 years old and it just took a 2.5 ft spill. Overall, nice guys, prompt service update and repair. As far as honesty goes, they were clear that I got lucky with the drop of my laptop - which I appreciated. I didn't get the vibe of some switch and bait routine here - I'm pretty sure they would've told me if the damage of the fall was going to screw in one way or another and when dealing with your own personal and work laptop, that means A LOT! This place is AMAZING. It might cost more than other places but you pay for what you get. I've been to other iphone repair shops that cost a fraction of the price for a shitty job. It also is a lot cheaper than what it would cost you to get repairs directly from the apple store when you're no longer under warranty. This place is also apple certified, & they know what they are doing. I had called when they opened & they had told me it would take an hour, hour & a half to repair my cracked screen. So since they are within walking distance to my work i decided to go in 2 hrs before i got into work so i would have enough time to get back. When i got there they were a bit backed up & told me it was going to take more than 2 hrs, i had told Mike i had work in 2hrs & wouldn't be able to come get it when it was done. Mike was awesome about it & actually came to drop it off to me at my work when it was done. I COULDN'T BE MORE HAPPY WITH WITH THEIR QUALITY OF WORK, & THEIR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE MAKES IT THAT MUCH BETTER. Changed my battery on my iPhone 5S there on 7/11/18, now it's 10/19/18 and my genuine apple product battery is dying at 75% of charge. I contacted SSM to see if this is a warranty repair, they told me that it's out of warranty, because their warranties only cover for 3 months. Shady ass place fucking street pirate's! Stay away from there! Then the manager confronted me and asked me did I write them a bad yelp review, I said what does that matter if I did? Pretty much wanted me to buy another China made battery from them in which I said nope! I took my phone and left! I walked out of the door and my screen was flickering bad! So I am a self admitted Pillow flipper. I flip my pillow sometimes 30-40 ( I have witnesses although some were only around for one night #thewalkofshame) times a night to find the cold spot. Well stupidly my iPhone 4 fell victim to one of my flips and it landed on my cement floor and cracked the front screen. I called a few places around LA and it occurred to me that I should keep my business local here in downtown. These guys had upgraded one of my office workstations awhile back and I have also bought several items there in the two years I have lived here. They have great services. Well they fixed my iPhone glass but it had a small problem when they restarted it. It was basically f#@ked. Technically it could have been an issue with the fall it took or pre existing. I took my MacBook pro in to be repaired since it had gradually developed issues culminating in it no longer turning on. You pay a $49 non-refundable diagnostic fee which in theory "can be used towards any repairs". I didn't hear back from them for a few days so rang in to be told that the problem was probably a short circuit in the logic board. They suggested I take the computer to an "Apple store" since they do fixed price repairs which would be much cheaper than they could repair it for. Obviously I was disappointed that they were unable to fix the problem in-house, especially since the diagnostic fee could have been used to offset some of the cost. However, I did appreciate the honesty in letting me know Apple could fix it cheaper. In the end, I decided to buy a new computer, and Mike was very helpful and assisted me in erasing data from the hard drives prior to its sale. I think this store is very convenient in DTLA, particularly if you have a minor fault with your computer. If it's something bigger, it may be worth your while asking the staff if they think an Apple store may be a better option from the outset. read more

Got a terrible vibe from this place. I went in inquiring about an LCD repair for my older MacBook Air. They quoted me $300 then tried to get me to trade in my MacBook for one of their used laptops. They were only willing to offer a $100 trade in value then showed me a number of their used laptops one of which was a totally busted one where the screen wouldn't even stand up straight. I was offended they even tried to sell me this laptop! If they are in the business of fixing laptops, perhaps they should put their skills to use and actually fix things before trying to pawn them off to someone else! All to say, I went around the corner to Bee Fixed where they fixed my laptop for half the price, I'll be deferring to them for all my Mac repairs! read more

I went in there today because I needed a charger for my MacBook Air. I was greeted as soon as I went in. There were two guys at the registers, I was helped by a white male who was very forward not rude but was only business. He cashed me out and told me I would have to remove all the plastic from the charger otherwise it wouldn't work. The hispanic - looking guy in the next register was alot friendlier and told the other guy he should take the plastic off the charger. They were both nice, but the white male appeared annoyed .
