I recently had the displeasure of experiencing the results of Tech Umma's "professional installation" of a surveillance camera system. There are many words I would use to describe the results of the work that I saw, but professional is NOT one of them. Lazy, Inept, Unprofessional, Deplorable, Untrained are all much more accurate descriptions. The lack of an actual risk or security assessment for the home was the first mistake. There was no discussion regarding the security needs based upon the design and layout of the home and surrounding landscape. The placement of the cameras was the next example of the inept or untrained technician. The locations were NOT conducive to ever being able to make a positive identification of someone approaching your home. While all four sides of the home had a camera, there were many blind spots and the cameras were placed too far away from the entry points to be useful. The quality of the installation was deplorable and showed that the technician had zero training in regards to how homes are constructed and proper building codes. The technician drilled a hole through the carpet and subfloor to run the wires down into the garage. The wires were left exposed across the garage ceiling and were not properly secured. Once the wires were routed through the exterior wall, they were contained inside PVC conduit (plastic pipe used to protect electrical and low voltage wires). The conduit was not properly secured to the wall. The screws used to secure the conduit brackets were not long enough to penetrate the stucco and grab the wood backing. This caused the conduit to sag. The technician used a wooden twig to plug up several holes created while attempting to secure the conduit. When the technician had to negotiate a corner where a downspout was in the way, the technician just ran the wires out of the conduit, behind the downspout and then back into conduit. Once the conduit was out of sight behind a patio roof, the technician stopped using the conduit and just left the wires exposed. To seal up most of the holes, the technician used copious amounts of silicone caulking and plastic bags. This included holes in the conduit, and holes in both the interior and exterior walls of the home. Based upon the work I observed and had to fix, I would never recommend this company to anyone! read more

We had a couple of security companies out to look at the property but each determined that their system would be difficult to install because my property is so deep. (Wifi issues). They were not married to the "wireless" camera idea which was not going to work for my house, but instead helped me to first determine which areas of my home most need camera coverage and second how to get cameras there without marring my home with wires. The wires that were run are beautifully concealed. I do not notice them at all and the security system runs perfectly. I would also like to add that this company exceeds in professionalism. They were very respectful of my home and property, taking care to clean up as they went along, and I found them to be very gracious, kind men. They have also gotten back to me with a couple of follow up questions now and have been quick to help me to understand any issues I have had with my new system. These guys installed a security camera system for us about 3 years ago. I generally don't review if my experience wasn't great or that bad either. It would have been a 3 star then. It's a one star now! 3 of the cameras were installed inside our home as we had/ have very young children and would be having people watch them here and wanted to monitor, as needed. The crew didn't clean up anything. Wherever they drilled into a wall or floor, the debris was I guess, my problem. Everything worked, which was the most important to me, so I just let it slide. I cleaned it up. Why complain now? About 3 months ago, the DVR stopped working and was making a beeping sound. I texted them and was told it was likely a hard drive issue. Sent them pics. as requested and asked if they could help. Nothing! Waited about 4 weeks and asked again if they could help. Nothing. You know, you can leave a mess, and I'm a big boy and I'll clean it up. You want to just ignore your clients once you have the check. I'm a big boy there too will let people know what they may be signing up for. I have 2 words for you... Shop vac! Oh, wait, 2 more... Customer service! Ended up contacting another company that resolved the issue in 30 minutes, but that's for another review. read more

Here is why you hire Saad, Ahmad, and Sudir from Tech Umma: they have brains, and they use them. They brought their expertise to bear to create a clean installation for my home theatre and network in an older home. I worked with a different home theatre installation company in my previous home, and they did exactly what I described, even though I do not have a background in home theatre installation. As such, what was installed with the other company was terrible. Not with Tech Umma. They politely made excellent suggestions to improve the installation and make it more functional for me. After ordering a security system (Swann NVR) from a big box store, it arrives in the mail, eagerly hooking everything up before actually installing it i come to realize the quality is not that great also realizing how difficult the installation is gonna be (running wires through my attic,wall, etc.....). I start calling around to get quotes on installing my system or purchasing one of their systems. What i have noticed is everyone was not willing to come out and take a look at my property and give me a true quote. all except Tech Umma asked for my address and did a google map estimate which i understand it costs money to make the extra trip and so on. Recently I requested services of television mounts and assembly of a tv stand. Tech Umma does a horrible job with resolving issues with their services. I purchased a tv mount from them, Ahaad assured me the mount could hold up to an 82" tv. A few days later the mount broke with the television falling on the floor. The second problem came when Ahaad offered to assemble a tv stand, of which took him and his crew literally a half day to have not been able to assemble and install. Therefore the tv stand was not mounted, nor did Ahaad or his crew secure the stand for use of leaving it on the floor. Ahaad and his crew left the job undone by leaving the tv stand without any screws or assembly. Overall, I was overcharged for his poorly done services, and as of date none of the issues I brought to Ahaad's attention have been resolved. Super disappointed. Had them come out once before for a flat screen wall mount install and concealed in-the-wall cord job and it went fairly well. We were pleased. So we used them again for another job this time for two tv's (one in the office and one over the fireplace). Cost vs product produced was lopsided in their favor to say the least. I wasn't home when they installed these and I really feel like they tried to swindle my wife. She said they left a huge mess, didn't clean up after themselves and one of the guys was droppin deuces in our bathroom at least two times that she noticed. That's super nasty. Everyone's gotta go but seriously if your sick it's unprofessional to be droppin poop bombs in a customers home. When i got home and saw what happened, I called them back out to reposition the wall mount in one room and remove and replace both mounts in both rooms with fully articulating mounts so the viewing angles would be proper. Super frustrating to have to tell an AV technician the importance of basic alignment between the viewer and where the screen is mounted. Told the owner about his guy blowing up the bathroom and not cleaning it up...wanna know his response? He gave no apology. Nothing. No comment whatsoever. He ran extension cords through the wall (pretty sure that's against National Electric Code) and left big openings for any insect in the walls to cruise right on through. Sloppy looking cords hanging out everywhere, nothing mounted plum, level or properly and even after telling him he left a mess the first time and LEAVING HIM A VACUUM to clean up this time...he didn't do it. So unprofessional. So janky of an instal. Save yourself the time, frustration and money. I could have and should have done it myself with parts from Lowes tor less than $100. Instead got ripped off for $550 and I still had to clean up and RE-DO The job. I'm uber pissed. Avoid this company like the plague!!! read more

Sent message to Tech Umma through YELP to get a quote for getting some wires (1 cable coax, and 1 power cable) hidden behind a wall for a tv we had mounted above our fireplace. Ahmad responded very quickly and was even able to come out the next day. After arriving we discussed a few different options for how this project was going to completed, and Ahmad even had some suggestions for solutions, but ultimately was still very accommodating in working with my requests. They were very polite and even cleaned-up, and offered to mop our hardwood floor after they had already vacuumed. They did a great job leaving only one small circular dry wall patch as they were able to run some of wiring behind the baseboard which was something I hadn't thought of. Also they are competitively priced. They seem like very honest and nice people. 1 thing that could use Improvement is cleaning up after the install, as I had to sweep away their mess. Tech Umma did a amazing job installing 7.2 surround sound, additional zone 2 channel speakers for my kitchen and mount my 55'' TV on a media center. No job is too big for them. They came at 10:00am left at 9:00pm. It took them longer than they anticipated but they completed the job without rescheduling. Extremely courteous, they understood my needs and they did not disappoint. All this for a fraction of the cost what others quoted me. I contacted these gentlemen and told them I already had a mount on my wall and just needed my TV mounted on it. They came over same day, determined the mount wouldn't fit, went out and got the appropriate mount, came back and installed it which involved a bit of customization as the mount was over a fireplace which can be a lot more challenging than mounting on a regular wall.
