DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! My little brother was a computer engineer and a hacker for the federal government at Sandia National Labs (DOE & DOD)! I used to work for Phillips Labs/DOD at KAFB as an engineering Tech! So I know personally from experience that, for the most part, "computer nerds" aren't the most sociable people with infectious personalities. This guy DJ, the owner, is just like that. His customer service skills are extremely piss poor! He keeps pushing you to pay $50 for a consulting fee without detailed explanation of his capabilities and any assurance whatsoever that he can get the job done. When this was SIMPLY and respectfully stated to him as a potential customer concern, he threw a tantrum like a little kid and hung up like a little punk. Computers are major purchases where you are spending as much as $3000 or more!!! Thats not chump change in this current economy. I was prepared to drop that because I need what I need and I have the money. However, just because a person may be smart enough to understand everything about motherboards, RAM Memory, and processor chips doesn't mean he knows how to conduct business properly!!! That seems to be the case here! If you are spending hundreds upon thousands of dollars, you want to be assured that you have someone that's going to be reliable and personable enough to answer your basic questions! Trust and believe that I know enough about computers that I'm not just asking errant non-applicable nonsense! When you get down to brass tacks, I just wanted to be assured that he was capable of delivering what i needed for the amount of money I was planning to spend (thousands) with him as opposed to going to a big box retail store. This is an awesome local business. I needed to refresh a tired laptop. Eppie sent me a quote with some options, all of which seemed reasonable. I stopped by with the laptop and discussed my upgrade needs. They gave me good options and didn't try to up sell me, although it probably would have been possible. They imaged the old HD and put in a new SSD in less than 24 hours. Excellent work and service. Update: in May 2017, Daniel and his team replaced my SSD and my old Toshiba has been better than new! I also asked them to change the battery, which arrived after the SSD was completed. I installed the battery myself, but unfortunately the laptop didn't work when not connected to power. After almost a year, I took the laptop back to have them evaluate the power issue. David did the troubleshooting and determined the battery was bad, which they replaced for free. I read the reviews online and visited their website, I was very impressed. When I went to Tech 505, the customer service was poor and they really did not seem interstested in my issues. I was just told there was a $26 diagnostic charge and they would call me in a couple of days. They called me back four days later and let me know it was going to be $250 to fix my tablet. I had to ask what the charges were for and what was wrong with my tablet. I feel like they are just 'doing their job' and there is lack of customer service and communication. So far, working with this company has been a 5-star experience. Our desktop computer was really acting up, freezing and crashing, and like so many aspects of life we simply didn't have time for that to happen. My 14 year-old daughter depended on the machine to print out her homework; my wife planned her classroom activities on the Excel spreadsheets. Since my laptop was my office, I couldn't afford the time to share. Still, I did spend some time frustrated. The computer wasn't even three years old and yet it was crippled? Shouldn't there be a company warranty on that? How much would it cost to fix up? And what about the time I'd have to spend finding a repair company and transporting the hunk of junk? I've pledged to shop local whenever possible and so I vowed to find a local solution. Unfortunately, Yelp didn't have much in the way of resources; I called a few and they either didn't answer or seemed more involved in large corporate accounts. So I gave in and used the Google ("Release the Google!") and bang, Tech505 popped up. It was pretty close to my home, and when I called a very friendly voice promised he would keep the doors open a little late for me. From here, everything worked beautifully. Dan actually promised to call the following morning to report on his initial diagnosis, which I thought was a fabulous turn-around period. He did call, too, around noon the next day, with great news: a memory stick was damaged and would need to be replaced, and as long as I approved of the charge he would have the computer ready within the HOUR. Remember that time issue? Big sigh of relief. So in less than 24 hours my computer was returned in brilliant shape, running faster because the tech discovered I was running two anti-virus programs when I only needed one. The price was absolutely fair. While I'm sure the tech didn't have a lot to do here, I also know he could've ripped me off and I firmly believe this wasn't the case. Unassuming and down to earth, this quiet, yet brilliant operation seeks to please. My macbook air had water damage, well, more specifically, pomegranate juice. As the spill spread across the keyboard, the computer became inoperable in seconds. When I visited Tech505, I wasn't all that impressed. They spoke so casually about my computer saying there was a 98% chance they could get it back into full 100% working order. Quite a statement given that Apple wanted to charge me $800 to simply look at the computer, with no promises. Just shows you how bad Apple has gotten with their customer service. After residing for a week with the massive brain trust at Tech505, my macbook air is singing again. Their prices are fair and their turn-around is excellent. I called all the other computer stores in Albuquerque (along with a few out of state) and nobody said they could deliver what Tech505 did. I am SUPER GRATEFUL! I recently took a laptop to Tech505 after being told at another computer repair place (which will remain nameless) in Albuquerque. Anyway the other place told me that my computer could not be fixed and started showing me new and not so new computers. Since I had a back up laptop it wasn't a huge problem. Since that time I discovered Tech505 (see previous review) and decided to take the broken laptop that I hadn't used in almost 2 years to Tech505. Now I have two working laptops thanks to the guys at Tech505!!! Anyone with an energetic Toddler knows they do not mix well with pricey electronics. Well one time is all it took. I dived as I watched in slow motion my MacBook fall to the floor. I was unable to save it and my screen had the dreaded black seeping screen. I brought my laptop into these very nice owners and one part purchase and 4 days later my laptop was fixed. I live in southern NM and my Mac went into a coma. I tried everything suggested online and finally called Apple. They said I'd likely need my hard drive replaced and referred me to Simply Mac. No one ever answered the phone at Simply Mac, they were just automated messages. I left my name, number, and problem and no one ever called me back. I had to find out if my Mac could be repaired or if I needed to replace it. I am starting grad school online in late August. More than that, however, I had been keeping a journal of sorts on the things my late father did and said in the last year and a half of his life. I had not backed things up as I should have. The thought of losing all those precious details was devastating to me. Absolutely terrible. It took almost two weeks for them to fix my laptop, and when I finally picked it up it had clearly been dropped - so much so that the metal corner of my laptop was bent, and the upper right hand corner of my screen was shattered and dented and also had a 6 inch crack. I called and asked them how they could make up for the severe damage to my computer. He immediately responded that he would not fix my computer, and that when i dropped it off it already had a crack in the screen and he had video footage of my screen being cracked before I brought it in. Mind you, he was able to tell me this without knowing my name, what kind of computer I brought in, or when I brought it in. I spent 600$ on my computer repairs with them, and it was returned to me VERY broken, and the right half of my touch screen does not work anymore. I also called the next day and asked the owner to send me the 'footage' of my cracked screen and of course he never did, because it DOES NOT EXIST. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. We had an HP 2550L printer that started to make bad noises and then wouldn't print. We put in a new drum but that didn't help so we took it to Tech505 to see what was wrong. The tech said that the gear was going so it couldn't be repaired. However he said he had a 2550N in the shop that he would sell to us very reasonably. We said OK. Then he told us that he had a new drum and new toner cartridges for the printer that had been donated to the shop and he would give them to us. When we got the printer home we were having a problem with the connection. We called the shop and the tech connected the printer to our computer via remote. We can't say enough good things about the service at Tech505 - it's really great! read more

I have recycled computers there and the staff was so helpful. Took laptop in because it was over heating. They made sure all parts were working properly. They blew out the massive amount of dust that had collected over time. That was the cause of the over heating. Will take my laptop there anytime I'm having trouble with it.
