Techloop ordered a new screen and when that didn't solve the problem, because they determined it was ultimately caused by a chip failure, they a) sent the screen back and refunded my money and b) did not charge me anything for i) trying to diagnose and fix the phone and ii) helping me migrate to a new phone I had purchased online. Jimmy and hours brother Nabell are really honest people. They share what's the best way in handing my everlooping device that will not boot to my home screen on my phone. Initially we thought changing the battery MIGHT work to bypass, but with no luck. Options remain to send it in a lab to pull my photos from the tiny hard drive, possible for several hundred dollars or hold off until pricing improves. So I'm holding off on it for now. I wanted to write about this specific shop on Burlingame Ave. These guys are awesome. I've been coming here for all of my tech/IT needs for about a year now and they have always treated me well and have been very fair with their pricing and services. In fact just recently, I needed an extra computer and they worked within my budget and gave me WAY more than we agreed on. I needed a used phone but they did not have any more in stock. Instead of just sending me on my way, the staff gave some insight on where to find phones inexpensively as well as which phones to look for in a certain price range. Sure enough, when I got home and checked and found the phone I was looking for online, I knew how much I needed to pay. Broke both my hdmi and power ports on my NVIDIA RTX 3080 video card. Jimmy and his brother replaced both. Without knowing me they let me walk out of the store without paying. Said that they wanted me to test it first to make sure I was happy. That was their primary concern. My happiness. Not money. When I tested the card, it didn't work. Because I did not order the correct power ports. They re-replaced the power ports for FREE. Even though it was my fault. They fixed the card so quickly I was able to sell the GPU for maximum profit. They replace the hdmi 2.1 port. I tested the 4k 120hz in games which worked great. Actually, the GPU performed better after their repair than when new. Was able to sell the card online for almost $2k thanks to Jimmy and his team. Paid them $200. Offered them more but they would not take it. Here was my experience: My computer was at the shop for over 30 days. I received no updates. No responses to texts (which fine, maybe that's a rule of theirs.) But my phone calls weren't returned either. Even after I spoke with him on the phone and he said he would call me back, he did not. I Picked up my computer in the same condition it was left in. I'm really trying to find a reason to give more than one stars. I guess 2-stars because he's nice? When i went for a run, my iwatch hit a crosswalk post. I thought it was nothing but by the end of the day i bricked my iwatch. I went to the apple store and of course its out of warranty. With no other place the best option was to replace the watch for the later one with the similar spec for 350. When all was lost, Techloop took my watch, and gave me a reasonable price to fix. I went in to fix my IPhone XR screen and the day after it was fixed, I dropped my phone on a carpet from 2Ft high and it had cracked. I know it's my fault but I haven't cracked my phone so easily ever. I went back in and got charged again for the fix. Few weeks later the screen cracked and there was internal problems with the screen also. Blue lights and black spots. Not only that but some of the screen was also coming off from the corner. I have posted a FB review, but wanted to make sure I got one on Yelp as well! Jimmy is THE best! I had a small 11" laptop that looked like it was toast, but he was able to resurrect it for me and it works perfectly now! I bought it because it was light weight to travel with, but seldom use it. My Dell 17" is WAY too heavy to schlep on a trip. The Acer began with Vista, then upgraded to XP and of course, Microsoft would NOT let it upgrade to at least 7! Jimmy transferred my docs to a flash drive, I brought a few CD's of programs that I wanted back on, he uploaded 7 and my discs and all is great now! Even downloaded two printers I needed to have on it to offices I travel to now. He has SO much patience, is polite and professional. SO many people came in and out for their phones to be fixed who thought they'd lost all hope AND for WAY more reasonable prices than Apple repair for certain! I don't know what's going on with this place, but something isn't right. Can't understand all the 5 star reviews. 1. Nice guy. 2. Terrible communication and follow through. 3. He claimed "no problem" then couldn't fix the phone, or really say why. Brought a Android phone in that was shutting down. Jimmy says "shouldn't be a problem, almost everything on this is fixable, except for the screen". He wrote my number down on a sticky note and stuck it to the phone. He calls me a few hours later and says the phone is ready. I go to pick it up and it's still shutting down. He then claims it's because I don't have a lot of memory left. I was sceptical, but wiped the memory. Still shutting down. I leave again. I call back and he says they ordered a battery. five days later, I call and when he finally remembers me or found the phone (he always acts like it's been a month since I brought it in) , he mumbles something about it not being worth fixing. Maybe he's better with Apple and Mac's, but you still need to communicate! The rent can't be cheap, but the place is a bit of a flea market. I honestly don't understand how he stays in business, and remember having the same feeling when I brought another phone in a couple of years ago, with the same result. So just got my phone screen fixed They price match They have generic iPhone screen replacements for a reasonable price But he needed my passcode 2-3 times to "check my phone was functioning properly" but who needs a fingerprint and passcode that many times unless you're trying to do something??? I say this now though not thinking it before because as he processed the sale he added more tax!
