I called Mad PC and Mark came over and tried a few things that didn't work. He ended up taking the computer with him and I had little to no hope that it was going to be able to be recovered. Next day he texted me to let mw know that he was still working on it. He was able to recover the database and make my job easier again, instead of having to search through cabinets full of paper files, we have our comptuer database of customers back again and at a very reasonable price. Instead, I was told I might need a whole new PC and that the turnaround would take 5-6 days--unless I paid a $100 rush fee just to get in line with 12 other people. On top of that, there was a diagnostic fee of $30-$50, plus repair costs starting at $500 and up. At that point, it felt more like a cash grab than a genuine repair service. Frustrated, I looked elsewhere and found a tech on Craigslist who charged a straightforward $50 per hour. He came to my place, diagnosed the issue, and identified the necessary part. Since he was a mobile tech and I caught him at the end of his shift, he had to order it. The part arrived two days later, and while I was able to install it myself, he was readily available to help if needed. In the end, I saved both time and money by going with a more transparent and reliable option. Safe to say, I won't be returning to this shop. I've included photos of the error messages I got when my cpu messed up. Not in correct order but the black screen was the final message prompting me to go into the repair shop.

He suggested an upgrade to an SSD drive and said the computer would improve its bootup from about 2 minutes to less than 30 seconds. Took the advice, had him ghost the old drive to the new SSD.
