I brought my HP laptop in for service as the screen inexplicably went dark one evening. I was able…read moreto get video from the on-board HDMI, so I knew the issue had to be isolated to the LCD. ECG quickly diagnosed my issue as a short circuit in a ribbon cable from the motherboard to the LCD. This essentially "fried" the screen. It was an issue that just comes about from opening and closing the screen, and I was unlucky enough for the odds to eventually "favor" my laptop. The repair was quick (less than a week to diagnose, order, receive, and install the part). ECG even seemed to optimize my startup, as the laptop seems to start up faster than it did previously, so that was a nice bonus. The final bill was about 30% UNDER the quoted estimate at drop-off, so how can anyone argue with that? Hopefully I won't need their services again anytime soon, but if I do, I plan on revisiting this "garage". :)

(I had caused the very! light! damage myself). Kyle (the owner) offered to replace the screen for less than Apple would charge, but ended up finding a different solution that cost me around $100 and 1-2 hours of work for him. He was straightforward with his pricing and the small risk of the repair, and took the time to answer all my questions. He even cleaned my screen. (Note: A repair of your Mac may void your Apple warranty. Mine had expired by the time I came to this shop.) Hundreds less than the Apple cost and not being without my work computer for a week was a huge blessing. I prefer to support small businesses, and I definitely recommend this shop!

Danger Danger Will Robinson!!! Avoid this business at all costs! Total rip-off.. they will ruin…read moreyour device and then blame you. Here's what happened to me: On 1/11/16, I dropped off my iPad Mini at the Mt. Dora location of Laptop Repair of Leesburg in order for them to replace the screen, which was cracked. Other than the cracked screen, which was purely cosmetic, the iPad functioned perfectly. When I picked up the iPad, I was told the screen was replaced and all was well. I didn't really test it out as I figured all that they would have done is replace the screen, and the screen looked great. There were notes on the invoice that the iPad was "bent" and needed to be kept in a protective case. The charge was $138.03, invoice number 05736. I signed the release form and left, stopping on the way home to buy an Otterbox. When I got home, I noticed that the iPad was unresponsive and consistently responded to "touches" that weren't being made, as if a ghost were touching the screen. I took the iPad back to Laptop Repair and was told the repair was under warranty and so they would fix it at no charge. The young lady who took the iPad in noted the "ghost" typing and said she was familiar with the issue. She said the repair would take about a week. Two weeks later I called to get an update, having not heard from anyone at Laptop Repair. I spoke to a gentleman with a heavy accent who said he had tried to repair my iPad but that "the motherboard was bad and needed to be replaced" and that I "should just get a new iPad". I told him that the iPad had functioned perfectly before they replaced the screen, and he said he would try again to fix it. He never called me back, so I called again a week later and he said the iPad could not be repaired and I "should just get a new one". I picked up the iPad and took it to I Fix Your I in Altamonte Springs. When I told them what was going on, they said that this happened a lot and asked to see the iPad. When I handed Nick the iPad, he simply ran his fingernail along the screen and it popped right off. "Not a good sign," he said. He then told me that inexperienced or careless repair techs would often break or disconnect the connectors that connect the digitizer from the screen to the motherboard. He said he suspected that was what had happened, and that, if it was, it would be $100 to replace or resolder the connectors. When Nick called with the estimate, he said that is exactly what had happened, that someone had been careless when replacing the screen and had broken off the connectors. He said nothing at all was wrong with the motherboard and that the repairs could be made for $100. When I picked up the iPad, it functioned perfectly, and I was charged $105.92, invoice number 152340. They also noted that the iPad was not "bent" at all. I Fix Your I noted on my invoice that the repair was: "Digi connector repair - botched by another shop." I contacted Laptop Repair for a refund of both the charges for the initial damage done during the attempted repair by Laptop Repair and a refund of the charges I paid to I Fix Your I to correct the damage done by Laptop Repair, a total of $243.95. Six days later I received an email denying any refund because I had signed the release form when I picked up the iPad the first time. Please take my advice and avoid this shop at all costs!!!!
