They have all kinds of hot brands. No, seriously, like they will burn you. Besides the custom hat bar, limited edition releases, and free boot shines, the flagship store in Austin is special because they offer free leather branding where you can get initials or symbols on your items. No cats (yet) but they had all the letters, longhorns, hearts, etc. I got bats on each, courtesy Kennedy, the "brand manager". Bats. Boots. Battlestar Galactica. By the way, the drink they handed me told me, "Nice handmade boots- I like the lemonwood pegging" and I thanked it. And then the drink said, "Those have tri-layer insoles, you have good taste," and I was like, "Thanks again". And later my drink said, "Of all the soft premium leathers, I think goat suits you best- you look great" and it freaked me out so I asked why my drink keeps saying all these nice things, and they told me the drinks are complimentary. read more

SOCO, once the pearl of the city in the early 2010's. Awesome little curio shops abound, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and numerous Austin weirdness abound. We found ourselves often during the weekends and alway popped into Allen's Boots, since in the late 70's, my honey pie used to sell boots there. I have had several lovely prezzies for Birthday's and Christmases of yeehaw boots. For my birthday this year, she found herself in the Western/Boot mile at Tecovas. SOCO, isn't what it used to be and has become a tourist trap with no less then I think 4 back to back Western shops and other overpriced shops, that all seem to have the same things. Vespaio/Guero's are still around, much to our happiness. On my day, there was a familiar looking wrapped box awaiting me. Inside, there was a box from Tecovas with a pair of their "The Dean" boots. They were very nice and a half size, with a zipper on the side. Coolio. Don't know the official name for this style. I put them on and they were bit tight, but endured it for the first time I worn them for any period of time. The Suze, expert in all things boots, thought we should go back to Teconas and get a different size. Holy mass of Cowboy wanna'be's Batman. The store was packed, mass confusion, not sure who actually worked there and who was shopping or just being "Seen". I was able to finally find, what looked like somebody over 23, that was behind a register and explained our dilemma. He was the right guy and he mentioned he felt that a wider boot was probably the issue and disappeared to source a pair for me. We just hung around. They had a bar or something offering a complimentary shot of whiskey, if I recall. It was somewhat of a chaotic lay out made even more confusing due to the number of peeps milling about. Bootman came back and luckily they did have a wider size in the same size. We grabbed a chair, that had become available and I slipped on the boots. They definitely felt better and I walked a little circle a few times and we got the heck out of there. Diligently trying to get new pair broken in properly, I wore them to the office a few times. A date night and such. My right boot, just wasn't right. My little toe was always numb/asleep with the pressure of the boot around them. They just didn't ease up. To Suzie's dismay, I just didn't put them on again for a month or so. An impromptu staycation weekend, staying at South Congress Hotel, Suze choose to go back into Tecovas and get a resolution. She wasn't to pleased that dropping $1000 for a pair of boots, that I just couldn't wear, there wasn't something they should be able to do. Luckily, since they were located across the street from SCH, she dropped in with the boots right after they opened. There was something amiss with the toe box and when she explained the issue, she was met with zippo assistance or concern frankly. They let her know there wasn't anything they could do and perhaps she could take them to a cobbler to ascertain and fix it. Err.. what? Don't you guys make these boots? Curiously not standing behind a pricey purchase, that I couldn't enjoy, isn't real Cowboy hospitality now is it? And no amounts of complimentary booze, although, delicious for sure, will see us in your establishment again. Meanwhile, we are out a grand. My suggestion, hitch your horse up to any other Western wear/Boot store in Austin. Heck, head to Allen's next door, which Suze wishes she would have all along. read more

The staff was amazing and the gentleman that helped and was very knowledgeable his name started with an E. Felt very welcoming even though it was a busy Saturday. I just really dig the concept of the little bar in the shoe store or being served a drink sitting on one of the leather sofas. It makes it so much more fun. This shop attracts locals as well as tourists. They offer top-quality boots, clothing, etc. At reasonable prices. I love that they'll clean and stretch your boots for you (free) anytime after purchase. Always a bonus when a boot shop offers that.- The sales staff work their butts off. We've been happy with our purchases. Our reactive rescue can sometimes get overwhelmed in busy situations and the employees are super understanding and kind. read more

Made the 45 min drive to ATX to get DH some boots he's been looking at. Unfortunately, they didn't have that specific style. It's a steel toe work boot they make but didn't have. He'll have to order online. He did try something similar to make sure he gets the right size. It was a busy place on a Saturday. They offered complimentary drinks which we did not partake of. When you win a dance contest at The Longtime and win two pairs of boots, it's always a good thing! If you are visiting Austin, a trip down South Congress blvd is a journey down Leather Alley. All of Austin's best Cowboy clothing stores are down there. But- one boot store is separate from the others! The moment you walk into Tecovas you will be greeted at the door - it's a nice touch. The quality is as good as it gets. I have plenty of dress-boots, (ostrich, lizard etc). Tecovas are super comfortable. My wife and I wear EveningStars to dance with - the first night we wore them dancing, they were great. My wife's were a size larger than they should've been and the following day Darrell took awesome care of us. He even remembered our names. Since then, we have had friends from Australia visit and sent them in. It was a Saturday afternoon and the streets were packed. They were in a hurry to make their plane home before stopping in. Despite the crowd, they were in and out quickly, having purchased several pairs of boots and other items. Their observation is that only The Beautiful People work there!!!! I'd have to agree! I love the brand, I just wish they had a boot that fit my foot really well. I have a very hard time finding a boot that fits so it's not just Tecovas. I still rep them with hats, belt buckle, shirts, etc. Maybe I'll buy a pair someday & "make" them fit. For what you get in a boot for the price, they seem very high quality. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pair. The salesmen are always friendly, & they give you free whiskey in the store. I do, however, wish they had more knowledgeable staff. I have probably tried on 10x or more pairs of boots in there on several occasions & always voiced how my heal slips more than it should. Never once did anyone attempt to help with that issue. Instead they more so shrug their shoulders & say we wish they fit better! A Tecovas employee (Domain location) referred me to Tecovas Trading Post to find a pair of discontinued Tecovas boots. I bought a 'new' pair of brown Jamie boots based on the seller's photo. When I received the boots, they are ORANGE. Literally orange. And the soles show signs of wear. So I emailed customer service who sent this: "As noted on the Tecovas site, natural variations in animal hides mean that some color differences can be expected between individual pieces, even within the same color." I've bought, literally, hundreds of pairs of leather shoes online and I've never been sent a completely different color. Tecovas/Trading Post - you need to do better. The boots I'm stuck with were defintely misrepresented by the seller. I'm out $253 for a pair of ORANGE boots I'll never wear, but I now know Tecovas Trading Post only cares about their sellers. Wish I could post the seller's photo along side a photo of what the boots actually look like. I'm so disappointed. read more

Had the best experience in the Tecovas location here. I walked in and was browsing for no more than 15 seconds before I was approached by Xavier who couldn't have been more knowledgeable and passionate about so many of Tecovas products. I never felt like I was being sold to and he was back and forth making sure I had the perfect fit and offered some guidance around styling professional dress clothes with the boots I selected. What an incredible store - I guess there's a reason why this brand is doing so well. As someone who's new to the boot world and from Los Angeles visiting, I as alittle confused on where to start. That's where Sarah came in to help. She walked me through the store selections of boots and mentioned her own take on what she liked and thought would fit my vibe. I walked into the store on a Friday afternoon by myself determined to buy my first pair of boots and I walked out empty handed due to the terrible service. I walked in and although someone opened the door for me, as I started walking around looking for boots I counted about 5 employees who saw and I made eye contact with and not a single one of them greeted me or offered to help me. I wasn't tripping about it at first until a minute after I walked in two blonde ladies came in about 3 employees immediately approached them, welcomed them, and even asked them if they wanted something to drink. I am only writing this review because I am a visible woman of color who was ignored and not helped at all while Tecovas employees visibly chose to help and greet white customers instead. I came to this store because my sister, many influencers on Tik Tok, and many Yelp reviews recommended this place. I was mostly there because many reviews indicated this place to be the most affordable but I didn't imagine cheap boots were synonymous to cheap and racially profiling customer service. So disappointed to leave this review, but don't want others to waste their money. Bought a pair of Cartwright boots in goat leather. Regular wear 1-3 days per week, we live in California so not real wet weather etc. Had some pretty significant defects after a little under a year. I emailed straight away with no response. Had to chase them for a year to get someone to respond. Finally they asked for photos. I sent them away and they responded by quickly by saying this is normal wear and tear however their standard 6 month warranty would have expired anyway. Any bootmaker worth value of boots would laugh at a 6 month warranty under normal wear and tear. This is just another new startup that sacrificed quality and integrity for a little slick marketing to make a quick buck. Spend an extra $100 and get a real pair of boot from someone who cares about their product. read more

Terrible Product + Awful Service = Never Again. I have sensitive feet (from 30 years of soccer). I let the staff know this but it didn't seem to matter. The 1st pair didn't come close to going on my feet so after getting a pair, 2 young female associates, not only did not help getting the boots on, but when I struggled to get them off I think they enjoyed watching me struggle. Finally, a nicer young male associate took pity walked over and gave me a boot jack. Later in the day I realized that the top of my right foot was bruised and so sore I almost couldn't walk. We were actually surprised to find a brick and mortar store on a recent visit from California to Austin, Tx. We thought Tecovas was only online. I purchased Ostrich Ropers for my husband previously for an anniversary gift. Beautiful boots. We visited the week before Thanksgiving and, of course, I found a shoe (mule) I loved. Knowing there would be a sale the following week, I decided to wait. Jacci told me I could just order online as they don't receive commission. She was super helpful. When I got the notice of the sale and went to order, my preferred size and color was sold out online . I called the store, but the associate I spoke with couldn't find it (but the computer showed it available). I called another day and Jacci was available. She remembered me! She took the time, in spite of the store being busy, to find my shoe and place the order for shipping. I ended up getting two colors thanks to Jacci, a salesperson who took time to ensure customer satisfaction! I will definitely visit the store again when we're back in town, just because of her excellent service! I've been wanting to order a pair of Tecovas for the longest time but didn't really want to deal with the shipping and the exchanging just in case the shoes sizing is wonky since the shoes I wear range in sizes depending on the brand. I was driving into Austin from Houston for a concert at the Austin360 Amphitheater and decided to make a quick detour to SoCo and stop by the store just to try on a couple of pairs of boots to see what size I should get. Parking was a bit of a pain in the butt since it is South Congress on a Saturday, but it didn't take me too long to find parking. When I walked in the store, there were several other customers browsing and trying on boots but they were all females and I was the only male in the store looking at men's boots. Well, at least nobody else was in the men section. As I was browsing, a staff quickly came to my aid to see if he could help me and to answer any of my questions, which I had. A lot. Long story short, he was super helpful in answering all of my questions about the different materials, fit, and care; and also patient in getting the different sizes I wanted to try on. Unfortunately, the pair of boots in the color I wanted and the size I needed weren't in stock so I had to place the order online to be delivered. He put in the order from me at the store and told me that they should ship out on Monday and I should get them, at the latest, by Friday of the following week. They were delivered Tuesday. Overall, it was a great shopping experience. And this is coming from someone who LOATHES having to physically go to a store to purchase any clothing items. But I enjoyed my visit to Tecovas. And also, the staff informed me that Tecovas was opening a brick and mortar store in Houston, TX - and if he had his information correct, it would be in the Rice Village area. A place that smells of quality leather, adorned with beautiful layered tribal-like rugs, and most importantly - that offers you a Topo Chico immediately - is a five star place for me. Genuine leather boots line the walls with some really kick ass designs suitable for ranch to casual office wear. Though I didn't purchase a pair, my experience made me want to return when I am ready for my pair! Super friendly sales people who are more than willing to help you try on some boots - they're handmade and pretty comfy.
