This is a great place to "get your feet wet" if you are new to kayaking (sorry, had to do it!) I say that because it is an easy put-in with lots of help from the staff. Water is calm and wide-open from the launch site so you have plenty of time to get your sea legs before you set off. Excellent place for groups or families. Very affordable. Singles are $10 for one hour rental, $15 for two. Doubles are $15/20. Life jackets, complimentary! There is a much longer trip you can take, but I can't give pricing or comment since we did the shorter route. Standard disclosures and waivers must be signed. Staff give you all the low-down on the routes and what you can expect to see along the way. It was fun to paddle both open lake and river sections. On the lake we mingled with swans and lily pads, on the river we enjoyed some beautiful and quiet spots with overhanging trees and a nice, gentle current. Although this review is for the paddling company where you rent your equipment, I will add a brief note to say it is located in Indian Crossing Trails Park and there is a public, free launch in the same location. So if your friend has a kayak, but you don't, no one is left out! The park itself is a lovely location with convenient parking for kayakers bringing their own or renting. read more

Just had the absolutely weirdest run in with the female blonde owner of this business. Out hiking the trails for the first time and decided to see what prices were at the kayak business when the blonde owner comes up super friendly and within 20-30 seconds conversation chews on me for absolute stupidest reason! What did I do that was so bad? She comes up and is super pleasant to talk to and I'm talking about how awesome the trails are and first time walking them and I'm seeing her kayakers the whole time having fun on the river which I made the mistake of telling her was dirty!!!!!!! Upon saying this to the owner she unloaded on me and says "I don't come to your business and insult your business"! To say the conversation from there only went downhill is an understatement. I was only telling the truth as the water was very chummy and stagnant on the river I noticed. Now in her defense I get it she's passionate about her business and the lake and river BUT she was 100% wrong in attacking me just for commenting on the river being dirty. To the owner who got nasty with me you were super nice and pleasant for 20 seconds until you lost your crap when I only said your precious river was dirty. Literally all I said and I was not insulting your business one bit. I looked at your prices online and they are really affordable and also all I saw on the river and lake were happy customers so there's that! I hope you think over how you attacked me and realize it was not warranted and you need to do better! Go out for a peaceful hike and get a bitter business owner in return. A good place to rent kayaks or canoes. They have a great amount available. You can choose your time limit and how far you want to go. Just visited this paddling location relatively recently and did the shorter (estimated at 2 hours completion time) river track. Allegedly, it is the "twistiest" river in the world! It was definitely at least close. There are a lot of fun little areas where speed picks up as well. If you are not able to carry a kayak, I would not recommend the river trails, just stick to the lake. On the smaller river run, there are two spots you have to take your kayak out and drag or carry it across a lot and then up a small hill. I absolutely loved it! There is a marsh-like area on the side of the lake where we saw tons of birds and deer! The staff members were all great. Can't wait to come back and do the longer run, which I've heard from acquaintances is great. read more

This place is great. They offer ride-on-top kayaks which take you across a lake and down the river mentioned in Ripley's Believe-it-or-not as the most crooked river in the world. When you travel down it, you'll know why. We went a few days after a good rain, so the water was a bit high. There's a dam that you have to portage around. At the bottom, the water was super fast and fun. Hold on for a fun ride! The river will give your maneuvering skills a run for your money. I thoroughly enjoyed the route, and the person running the business gave us plenty of information and was super helpful. read more

Went with 4 of my friends for a little birthday fun and we all had an amazing time! They were very informative and knowledgeable they answered all our questions and helped us make a decision of which trip to take. We stayed out twice as long as it should have taken us just bc we enjoyed it so much. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to go kayaking! Just did the 4 hour trip with low water conditions and it was great, shallow in alot of spots for the first half but even with the river not having been in the best conditions since we are in a drought i have to say one very important thing. Mark and Jen (The Owners) made this trip the best we have had. Mark took his time and showed us alot about the river and about Tecumseh in general, while he was taking us to the launch site. Also he was extremely friendly on the phone when we made our appointment. When we got back to base we saw how busy everything had gotten and even though she had alot of people asking her things from every side Jen took her time to give us her full attention and genuinely wanted to know how our trip was (did we see wildlife, how was the river, did we have fun) and sincerely thanked us for choosing to rent from them and kayak in Tecumseh... The 4 hour trip was the best option! It was low in a few spots but I also felt it was challenging rather than just floating down the river. Very scenic and secluded in the beginning which made the ride peaceful. A view little rapids but wasn't too bad. I will definitely be back! read more

Ok so.... the good (1) great price (2) friendly staff (3) pretty good maneuvering skills are needed once you get to the actual river. Lots of twist and turns and downed trees to maneuver around and duck under. The bad (1) there were a few spots where my teenager and/or I got stuck due to low water in the pond and the river (2) the portaging... they made it sound like no big deal but you have to paddle the canal to get to a portage to the river. There you get out, have to carry the kayak (and these are heavy) across a parking lot and down a trail. THANK GOD there was a teenage boy sitting at a picnic table and asked if we needed help! After getting through the (fun and very twisty) river you come to a point where you have to drag your kayak up a hill. Not just any hill but a hill as tall as a house and a very steep one at that. There's no ropes or anything to help pull it up!!! I had to sit for 10 minutes before even attempting it. Im happy I did it but won't do it again unless I went with some burly dude to help me with the portaging. OR if they had available those portaging wheels and a pulley system for that huge hill. I think my 14 year old never wants to kayak again. (She does at camp and up north so I thought this would be fun for us ) Also... I took my moderately experienced 14 year old but DO NOT ATTEMPT THE RIVER LOOP WITH CHILDREN/inexperienced kayakers. read more
