Likewise, they have a sizable inventory of items for those weekend projects around the house. I strongly recommend this place, although they can be rather pricey on some items, when compared to large retail chains. However, since there is no other hardware store in town, its much better than driving 30 minutes to nearby Ann Arbor.

They remember me every time and my likes and dislikes (for instance, I don't use plastic bags, I bring my own totes, they don't have to see it to know I have it in my purse with me.) The young man always carries things to my car even if I could probably lift them myself. I try to buy everything from them. Support the local guys, even though there's an ACE Hardware down the street. I don't think I've gone there more than 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years. I just don't need to. I'll go to Lathams. As I said, if they don't have it they'll get it for you. I watched them surf all over the net looking for an unusual environmentally friendly fencing I wanted. They couldn't find it, but she sure exhausted every resource she had looking ( I should point out that I could only find one store in all Ann Arbor that had it.. so don't look down on them for not finding it, neither did those big chains). I bought all the rest of the supplies here. I always will. I can't choose a price range because you can buy sunflower seeds for a quarter or supplies to completely redo your household plumbing. But they are always fair.

You don't need to actually own a tractor to shop at Tractor Supply. The merchandise appeals to the…read moresmall farm hobbyist, or a homeowner who lives in a rural setting with lots of acreage and needs to tame nature just a bit. (Maybe a tractor might be a good idea after all.) Tractor Supply is fancier than the other, locally owned feed stores. They have a lot of the stuff a feed store has, including cow ear tags and horse vaccines, but they also have what I think of as the "tourist" section, with miniature farm animal and tractor toys. They have Carthart work boots & clothing (I got a nice pair of coverall pants here) along with Ararat shoes & boots and other country inspired footwear, pants & shirts for men & women. I won't buy pet food here--not high enough quality for me. Also, don't let your dog eat anything off the floor. There are occasional spills in the pet food section. I have bought cat and dog collars and leashes, certain treats (read the label if you don't want stuff from China) and a few dog toys over the years. They used to have some 1" wide 6' long leather leashes, but I haven't seen them there these days, so I ended up purchasing a nylon leash, which is not as abrasive on the hands, but my dog doesn't pull on her leash. Leather is better when you have a puppy or a dog that still pulls on the leash. One of my best purchases: a pink, rubbery horse brush (out of the horse supply section) with tiny rubber bristles. It fits over your entire hand, like a mitten. I use it on my cats. It's the giant tongue that licks them all over their body. They love it, and it reduces furballs. They have a very basic selection of veggie and flower seeds in the spring. The bagged onion sets, asparagus roots, rhubarb, etc. are a good value, *IF* you can buy them before the dry heat of the store causes them to sprout, dry out and rot. (Sniff the onion sets before you buy. Don't buy them if they smell like "Ew!") They have pet adoption days once in a while. (Dogs and cats, access to low-cost spay and neuter, etc.) Oh, and the baby chicks and ducks! You could start your own little egg farm. The book and magazine section is very nice. The topics include: homesteading, raising animals, horse riding, do-it-yourself, and traditional arts & crafts. Worth having a look now and then for crafty ideas. They have tractor and lawnmower parts, chainsaws, riding mowers and snow blowers. Most of the parts are made in China, but who makes these in the USA any more? They have a decent hardware fittings section. Between Tractor Supply and ACO hardware, you can usually find what you need in Saline ... otherwise head to Stadium Hardware in Ann Arbor, which seems to have every doodad known to humanity. They let us bring our dog in there, and she gets a treat at the checkout register. She loves the place even more than I do.

I can't choose ZERO Stars. I purchased something the…read morebeginning of last month that was recommended by them and they said it would work. It didnt as the Mfg. website says its not for my application. I took it back (w/o a sales slip) and I was told he wouldn't take it back without one even though their unusual yellow price tag was obviously from them. He said MILLIONS of retailers use that tag, how could he be sure it was from them. REALLY!? So, I dug around and found the slip. I took it back today and now he says he "doesn't" want to take it back, its been over a month. Yes, by two days. I asked where was it posted that that was their policy? It's not on the pillar with other return info, nor is it on the sales receipt. He said after a month his supplier wouldn't take it back. I said its in perfect working order and can go back on his shelf. He just started making excuses. Its pretty sad when you try to support small business instead of big box stores and they act like this. $15 was the return amount. They must be pretty hard up for cash to jack a new costumer around like that over fifteen bucks. I will NEVER support them again, nor recommend them. So BEWARE, they have a "selective" return policy. If business has been slow, I'm sure he'll find an excuse why they "don't want to" take it back. Better to have my $15 once,Can't then my return business I guess.

I didn't want to spend a bunch if money if the engine was shot. My wife hit a fence and bent a crossbar on the front end, I told them that. A week later I get my tractor back and the engine still miss fires and the steering is no better as they replaced everything but the part that was bad. $338 later they wont stand behind anything. This time I found a beautiful wine cooler of thick quality. I purchased it to be delivered. Everyone who assisted me was very helpful and nice. The man who delivered my carpet went above and beyond. Very helpful and nice, he even helped me move a few of my heavier pieces of furniture, since he probably noticed I'm just an old lady ;). Offered to help me move more, placed the carpet and took my old carpet away. Thank you!
