I'm a "frequent flyer" of Brite Idea Tattoo, so keep in mind I might be biased a bit heavily in the…read morepositive direction. The studio itself is very modern and professional, with wooden floors, comfortable seating and ample space. The walls are adorned with pieces of art by Zera Anderson (who owns the joint and tattoos). Also, it is a small business owned by a local resident of the community. Over the summer, Jodi (who owned Ink For Life, formerly down the strip) is in town doing work, which long-standing customers are happy to take advantage of, but the majority of the year Zera herself is the only acting artist. This means two things necessarily - first, there is generally a wait time between when you come in to make an appointment and when your appointment actually is; second, Zera is talented enough to warrant being the only artist working out of the studio. Of the six tattoos I have, she has done five and they are each elaborate, unique and incredible. On many occasions I have been asked to pass on "regards to my artist" on behalf of random bystanders who saw them and were impressed. If you want quality ink done, Brite Idea Tattoo is definitely worth checking out. If you don't live nearby, it would still be worthwhile to travel out to visit. I have no doubt that I will have many future inking adventures here.

Woman owned and doing incredible work, the artists here (Zera who owns it, along with Janet and Sarah) are absolutely phenomenal and do brilliant work. Their custom pieces are miles beyond anything you could have imagined, and their beautifully created flash pieces are stunning as well. Great for first timers and those covered in ink alike, I cannot recommend this place enough. I usually see Sarah, and she is particularly good with those who are brand new and/or those who have chronic pain (like me!) and may need accommodations, extra breaks, etc.

The first thing that struck me was how busy it was on a Wednesday evening. Even so, the receptionist was pleasant and I was given paperwork to complete pretty quickly. The vibe is a friendly, relaxed one - lots of great art on the walls, a case of body jewelry to peruse, and a slideshow on a TV which displayed information and pictures of work by the tattoo artists and piercer. I observed a couple of guys getting tattoos, and my partner & I chatted with the receptionist as we waited. "Evil" Dave, the piercer, had just finished piercing the navels of two teenage girls, accompanied by their guardian - they looked a little wan when they came out, but there were no tears. I was there to get my nostril pierced, and from the time Dave walked me back to the time I was walking out of the place only a short fifteen minutes had elapsed. Dave was happy to let my partner watch the procedure, and he explained every step in detail. I was impressed with his degree of care and knowledge. He also has a great piercing 'bedside manner' - just the right blend of information and jokes - which put me totally at ease. If I ever get another piercing in the Ann Arbor area, it will definitely be at Liquid Swordz.

Was clean and when I was there it was only the owner working so we had the space to ourselves which made me feel more relaxed. Even walked me to my car because it isn't the best area, love how he went above and beyond!
