Too Big to Trail The…read moreHalf Moon Bay Coastal Trail is an amalgam of several trails that run thru HMB and goes for 11.5-miles one-way from start to finish. The southerly end is at the Cowell Ranch Trail in HMB and runs all the way north to Dardanelle Trail in Moss Beach. The Good: *Great views *Easy flat to moderate trails *Trails are mostly AC with some compact dirt, as well, and they are mostly in good to great shape. *Bike, dog, & horse friendly *Multiple beach access *Lots of different (free) parking lots up and down the coast The Meh: *Little to no shade for most of the trail. This isn't really a big deal, as HMB is almost always cloudy, foggy, and cold--but there's always a few days a year where it can get into the 80s and low 90s. The Ugly: *Some of the lots do require payment, so be sure to check signage before parking. Oh, and in case you're wondering, they most definitely *DO* enforce parking. Conclusion: One of my all-time favorite trails in The Bay.

I had tough time figuring out how to come here when a sale starts. Fortunately, there is an app called FishLine. The app is not very intuitive, but this is the only way to reliably find a sale. Some fisherman use it. When they start a sale they post it in the app. They even provide their number, so we can book before going. I was waiting for a King Salmon sale. King salmon is $15/lb in all boats. One thing to notice is that, they will only sell the whole fish. And they wont clean it in a boat. He said that is the law. So the salmon I picked cost $180. It was the smallest one. Bigger ones could have gone about $200. I had to watch youtube video and figure out how to cut it. It was a messy affair, but I got it done. I saw people buying a lot of halibut from a shed in the harbor. Not sure if they will cut and clean.

There's a small free parking lot here as well. If you have to use the bathroom, it's well maintained and clean. We enjoy the coastal beaches. It's beautiful and serene. It's even more relaxing to hear the waves with a sunset or sunrise. I still enjoy a foggy morning with a good cup of coffee. It's a nice walk to enjoy mother nature. If you enjoy animals, the seals are fun to watch! Lots of birds flying around, too.

Moss Prevention A…read morethree-mile stretch of beach located in the eponymous census-designated place of Moss Beach that features typical amazing California coastal views and clifftops. The Good: * Free to visit. * Small parking lot. * Restrooms in the parking lot. * The main reason people come here is for the amazing tidepooling at the J.V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, which is a tidal reef ecosystem that one can explore during low tide. * The Cypress Grove at the top is a fun place for photos. The Meh: * A fairly tall staircase is required to access the beach area, and if you cannot handle a few flights, then it is best to skip this place; it is definitely not ADA compliant. * As far as beaches go, if it were not for the tidepooling, I doubt I would ever come here for the beach itself. It is small and not really noteworthy, especially since you have to schlep your stuff down that huge flight of stairs. The Ugly: * The parking lot is not that large and fills up very quickly, especially during the summer months. There is neighborhood street parking available, but I would personally prefer not to bother the neighbors. Conclusion: Come for the exploration and not much else.

I wish there were a few more picnic benches…read moreavailable - they have more available within the playground itself which is technically animal-free but since we had our dog and the one table outside the perimeter was taken, we decided to take our chances and break the rule. Trash cans and bathrooms are on site, it's nice for adults to be able to sit back and enjoy while keeping a close eye on their kids. The park is set back a little bit from the street and has trees surrounding it which helps to provide a buffer on a windy day. There is also a hiking/biking trail available here if you want to go on a short hike.

So naturally, when it came to finding a preschool for my daughter when we moved to HMB, I was very particular in what I was looking for. I visited a few preschools in the area that made me shudder. I visited some that were pretty decent. But CCP-HMB Preschool was by far above the rest in meeting my standards. There are things that I still wish were different- i.e. the lack of grass/garden/nature outdoors but I think this school does what they can to make up for the mostly asphalt playground. Highlights that made me enroll my daughter: Small classroom ratios*interactive teachers*efforts made to do regular field trips to the library, downtown, feed & fuel, etc* Music class with John* Ample supervision with bathrooms & classrooms close to each other* lots of art & math supplies * professionalism of the greater CCP organization* Efforts made to have bilingual staff* an understanding of and efforts made to implement the ECERS/DRDP & NAEYC Accreditation standards.

My daughter is a preschooler here and has really enjoyed her teachers and new friends…read more I really needed fulltime care for her and it was great to know that they accepted 2.5year olds and were going to help me potty train her too. That was such a relief to me as I wasn't going to force my daughter to be diaper-free before she was ready... but at the same time, I needed her to go to preschool. I was surprised at how much they do for the children. It wasn't immediately known to me all the activities that the kids do during the day. They do many art projects, zoophonics, healthy habits, yoga, walks around town, trips to the library etc. Wish I'd known this before, it would have made the selection a no-brainer. The teachers are very nurturing and caring. My daughter just loves her school and I'm very happy she's there and that they do a wonderful job. The peace of mind this gives me makes all the difference.

It takes you the to the parking entrance. There is a $5 parking fee for the day. Ask the park rangers where to go next when you pay for the parking. You will drive down the road after turning right and see a white trailer.

She really improved his strokes and taught him various things such as a flip turn, two hand touch in butterfly and breaststroke, diving, corrected his breaststroke kick and his butterfly kick. She is excellent with technique! My son was able to join a summer team last year and this year. He knows all 4 strokes now and has become a really good swimmer, and he just turned 8! I highly recommend her!

Once on the beach you have 30 foot cliff that no dog can climb. Most people and dogs are especially nice. People are there to relax, take in the beach and have a good time. For dogs? It's as though my dog levitates! She knows when we're going to the beach. She asks to go every day but that's not possible yet. The best part is that it's not far from home. I say, get to any beach. My family, Trixie and I can't get enough of this beach. Also, every summer, there are a couple of surf camps for kids! Yes, my son attended a bunch of those camps and will for the rest of his life have a love for being in the ocean, riding a surfboard! A few really great restaurants near by too!
