My favorite outdoor pool in the peninsula! I've been going to Burlingame Aquatics for many years now - I use to even swim competitively! The pool operates as both short (25 yards) and long course (50 meters) depending on the day and time. If it is short course, there are about 20 lanes, but if it is long course, it is usually less lanes due to classes/ other programs being held at BAC. I've dropped into lap swim ($9) but I started to opt in for their 10 day pass which is $85 ($5 savings). I also just learned there is a monthly unlimited pass for $75 which is a great deal if you do plan to come in more than 10x a month. Check out their website for hours and if there will be less lanes due to classes. I love going during the day since you'll get a nice tan afterwards! read more

Centrally located on the Peninsula and close to Burlingame Avenue with its stores and restaurants for après swim shopping and dining, we felt welcome, great since we came solo without the team. (We go to extra swim meets for additional practice competing and improving time). Pool is sparkling clean, staff is welcoming and got us checked in quickly and seeded. I have no complaints about the pool itself; it is truly world-class. However, shouldn't there be proper changing cubicles where one can comfortably change clothes after swimming? There ought to be at least two. We go there to swim, not as prison inmates; we shouldn't be forced to change in an open area or a toilet stall. In my opinion, this is undignified. If you cannot provide even two changing cubicles, that reflects poorly on you. ? I am very unhappy about this situation and expect you to provide a solution. Thank you. read more

Very nice pool. I always get my own lane. Not quite enough hours but the lunch hour swim works for me. Locker rooms are really inadequate. I always seem to get the last parking spot there so I imagine that if it is crowded, you'd have to park somewhere else. read more

Fantastic community lap pool. Employs students. Low cost. Clean and overall welcoming to all. Outdoor, big, and heated. You can't ask for much more, especially for the daily cost. It's really a privilege for the community to have this pool. I love that they have 50m length open on some days. Lanes can get crowded, but I've never had more than 4 to a lane. Parking is easy and Burlingame is very safe. read more

Started to visit here during Covid. A very serious pool with loads of good swimmers.... Pool temperature is pleasant even during winter time. Pool is extremely well maintained and clean. It has two shower spaces at the pool area for quick rinse. Change room is okay and has been reopened post covid. It has a small locker area with a couple of shower stalls (no privacy though). I prefer to wash at home but it looks like it can do the job. Lap swim area is normally a little deep, which is great. There is a recreational area and kids friendly smaller pool available too. Saw some happy kiddos over these days. Could be a good place to get little ones over too. It comes with plenty of parking options around. Would love coming back. read more

Three stars for being clean, ability to swim 50 yd. lengths, and multiple lap swim lanes. Two stars off because of policies that are different from most public pools and small changing area. I used to swim here regularly in the past. Getting back to my swimming roots, I find the policies have changed, especially if you are just an occasional swimmer, swimming only once a week or less than that. a. Cashless - I have credit cards but I am concerned for people who don't or don't want their spending tracked. In NYC, cashless places are not allowed because it cuts out a sector of people who don't qualify for credit cards. b. ? Need to register and show ID - first-time I've ever encountered this policy. Back in the day, registration made sense if you wanted a card that allowed a certain number of swims or discount as a Burlingame resident but I was asked for my photo ID just to swim this one time. This is not communicated well on the website besides which I would prefer not to share personal info just to swim once. c. No way to lock lockers - So don't carry any valuable or less-than-valuables you are afraid of people stealing. This is also why I didn't carry my credit/ ID card with me onto the facilities originally. Fortunately, I had them nearby elsewhere. Burlingame is usually safe but the chances of theft are not zero. d. Small changing rooms - OK when it's an off-time but when there are a lot of lap swimmers or classes/ teams at the same time, you either have to wait or get out of the pool early. I live close enough I used to just go home and shower. read more

Since my previous review, this pool has been completely rebuilt - re-opening in 2020. So it is a brand new pool. The deep end is now 8" deep (still plenty deep), and they put in a walk-in ramp for handicap access in the shallow end. Very little was done to the locker rooms. A really nice 50m pool (most of the time set up for 25y - check the schedule for set up). There is also a small kids pool where they do/did lessons for toddlers. I believe you have to use their on-line booking system to make a reservation for a lane etc - I do not think there is an ability to drop-in. Don't use the showers here, I got a foot infection where I had to go to emergency. I was prescribed both oral and topical antibiotics for it. Some type of flesh eating bacteria (nasty). Also the staff were very unfriendly. read more

If you're like me, and live in San Francisco, you sometimes want some sunshine and warmth while you swim. Burlingame Aquatic Center has it. You can check online or call in to see when they have lap swimming. Sunday's the pool is set up for long-course, so you can swim for 50 meters before a wall needs to be dealt with. This past year, I've been in search of the perfect outdoor pool. After an extensive search around the Bay Area (San Jose all the way up to SF proper), Burlingame takes top honors, hands down. Beautifully clean pool, appropriate temperature for swimming year round, and, compared with other public pools in the area, surprisingly uncrowded. I've never had to wait for a lane, even on weekends. Speaking of weekends, awesome hours - pretty much 9am to 4:30pm both Saturday and Sunday, and Sunday is long course day - difficult to find! $7 for a drop-in is much cheaper than any other public pools in the area, and you can buy either monthly passes or drop-in packages. Plenty of street parking. Locker rooms/showers are pretty small, but never had an issue maneuvering around folks. I like to think of this as my hidden gem pool, so you are lucky I'm sharing it. Go away, because I don't like circle swim. read more

Missing your Vitamin D on the rainy days? Why not go for an outdoor swim?! I don't know if you've noticed, but it's already pretty wet in the pool, and it is extremely pleasant to let the pitter patter cool off your face while you work out. The BAC pool is gorgeous and perfect in design: 50 meter pool, and they do switch to long course several times a week, year-round. The flags are always up, and it doesn't seem to get too crowded. They have a small, side pool (i.e. pee-containment unit) for babies and kids swim lessons. Hawt water polo players to ogle while you're kicking. Unfortunately, it seems to be closed a lot - whether for swim meets or for maintenance, it's pretty regular - good news is they email you about it if you have a pass. The pool is generally pretty clean, although it could be better. The single worst feature of the facility is the teeny tiny locker room and accompanying miniscule shower set-up. If you love showering *closely* with two other women you don't know, and then sticking your butt in their faces as you hop around on one foot trying to get dressed in the tent size dressing space, then this set-up is for you. Forget about trying to shower when swim club/masters' has just finished their work-outs. But really, I don't go swimming to lounge around in a locker room. The pool itself is really quite nice, and you can't beat the outdoor swimming - rain or shine (hold the lightning). read more

I've been a lifeguard for 10 years now (I am 26) and I have never been so aloof as any of the LGs that work here (even when I was 16). I am pretty confident that if there was a medical emergency, they could pull through and handle it, but their customer service is awful. As a LG, you are face of the business, and, it would be nice to have a friendly face to say hello to, instead of some deadpan kid saying "uhhhhhh" every other word. When I signed up to do lap swimming (I bought a 3 mo groupon for $70ish), they didn't even give me any sort of orientation and they also didn't let me know just how often they change their schedule. They could have just kindly let me know, "the high school uses this pool, and there are a lot of swim meets held here, so times change pretty often"... But I got nothing. Since there was no orientation or dialogue whatsoever, I also walked through the men's locker room and no one stopped me. Yea, my own fault for not reading signs, but really, be a little bit more aware and concerned for your new members. They also do not return phone calls, and when they do pick up the phone, it is hard to get out any reasonable information from them. I really do understand having a bunch of unhappy patrons calling you is difficult, BUT if you are answering the phone, you should know how to answer questions instead of getting flustered and not having an answer for me. Horrible locker room facilities. I'm not modest , I don't mind communal showers, but I do mind not having anywhere to change. The pool is clean and nice. Good cool temperature. I love an outdoor pool. But, it's still a business, act like you want to make your patrons happy so that they'll come back. read more

Stay away at all costs! This is the dirtiest pool I have ever visited! While the pool deck itself looks nice, the water is so dirty. I have never seen so much debris inside such a large pool. I question if they ever clean it? While I can't speak for the men's locker room, the women's locker room is a mess and also never seems to be cleaned or restocked. I had to use the restroom and every stall was out of toilet paper. There is only a small area to change and shower in, which would be fine if it were actually clean, but there is hair and dirt everywhere. (I've uploaded images) They also have very young lifeguards running the front desk on what seems like their down shift (I guarded in college) and who don't seem to know what they're doing. I've also tried to get in contact with management and they never respond to emails. Would not recommend this place. read more

For the last year I've taken my son to lessons here. The instructors are hit or miss. Some are very engaging and actually teach, some just make the kids do laps. That's okay with me, he's swimming and that's the point. Recently, I had several bad interactions with a front desk person and emailed the Director and Executive Director with no response. I'm not quite sure how not responding to emails is a good business practice or good customer experience, but I guess it's time to find another facility for swim lessons. I refuse to deal with front desk teenagers who are lazy and disrespectful. read more

Swimming the way it is supposed to be! Outside, long course (50m) on select days, short course (25y) on others, clear, blue water, the warm kiss of the sun, the scent of nearby eucalyptus trees makes you want to stay in the water all day. Really easy to get to, just south of SFO, hours are convenient for a pre or post work swim, or even a lunchtime dip, which is my favorite. The first hour is usually the most crowded, then thins out considerably. Never extremely crowded. Open year round, but call in case of last minute closures. Lockers are decent size with ample deck space to drop yourself. Showers are adequate. The aquatic center is next to Burlingame High School. If you go at lunch during the week you can hear the class bell and see the kids walking to and from class in the distance - makes you feel like you are playing hookie. read more

This outdoor swimming pool has big wide lanes for short course and long course. They have various swim pass packages that you can purchase online. You can purchase family packages if you want to save some bucks. However, if you are the only one in your family that need to go to this money, then you don't need to buy this package. If you don't know how to swim, this pool is for you. They offer aqua fit, private and group classes including for babies and adults. All the classes are 30 minutes. The price for private class is $40 but group classes change depending on package. The water is warm, especially early morning and in cold weather. The babies pool is warmer, so, don't worry your kids will enjoy the water! You can easily get some buoys, paddle boards and fins here. They also sell accessories like swimmingly sunglasses, caps, etc. There is a parking outside, just a minute walking distance from pool. The regular staff is very nice and helpful. Don't surprise if you meet different people every time at the front desk . Sometimes those people can't answer all your questions, they even don't know how to register you online Although the swimming pool area is big and nice, there are many cons here too. The main thing that I don't like at this swimming pool and give 4 stars, is their locker room. It's very tiny and only one shower room with 3 showers. The one shower of those 3 doesn't work for a long time and no one fixes it. I can't say that this shower room is always clean either. The other cons, they don't have dryers. So, bring extra bag for your wet clothes. There is only one changing table in the handicapped section in shower room. No changing tables for babies. read more

For a local pool it's ok, but there's definitely better choices out there. The temp is a few degrees colder than ideal, even for hard working swimmers who heat up. The locker room showers are dirty and only 1 or 2 of the shower heads really works well. The biggest turn off is the schedule. I've gone for lap swim and many times and more than a handful swims have been cut short due to other events that haven't been listed on their site. Frustrating to get in a short swim. Especially with that expensive $7 a visit for walk in lap swims. If you swim more than 3 times a week you may want to consider other pools in the area that offer more flexible, and consistent, open hours. PJCC in foster city comes to mind, and with that competitive price you get a gym and many other things. read more

Great place for recreational swim. It's $5/adult for rec swim and $7/adult for lap swim. There are two pools: one that is 3.5 feet for kids and another that has lap and rec swim from 3-13 feet. It gets crowded and there's no place near the pools for towels, so I had to put my towel and sunscreen on the floor. The women's locker room was small and moderately clean. read more

I love BAC! Club swimming here was always so fun, and now I swim there on the high school swim team. They employ a lot of students which is very nice of them, and I urge people to be a little bit patient with the management because they might be a little bit less experience than you're used to. This review is for their youth swim lesson program (NOT the swim team, NOT the lap swimming) ONLY. This place is completely disorganize and has poorly trained instructors who are mostly just high school students who are swimmers themselves with little previous experience with kids or teaching them how to swim. Moreover, you do not know who the instructor is going to be until the class happen and it is not always the same instructor. My kid wouldnt get in the pool one lesson because it was a new instructor. What a waste of time and money that was....There is no communication besides in person. They do not reply to emails and often promise to send information that is never sent. Finally, their prices are really not all that different from the various private swim academies in the area. Bottom line, if you are looking for your kids to learn how to swim, I would NOT take them here. I do not have experience with their actual swim team program, but my sense is that it is more professional and well run than the swim lesson program. read more

Very happy to have discovered lap swimming here. It's very close to my house and the pool is great. If it weren't for the fact that swimming has greatly improved my quality of life I would might give 2 stars simply for the "service." Do not expect to even be given a tour or shown where anything is the first time you go. They simply say "enjoy your swim", and I'm like...um where is everything?? Do not expect the slightest level of interest or normal interactions with lifeguards when you have an issue. My first time there I had left my towel and flip flops on the bleachers by my lane. They came and took everything away while I was swimming assuming everything on the bleachers was left there by the kids at the kids camp. I never got it back. One lifeguard started to kind of help me and went looking for my towel then kind of disappeared. Then I flagged down a different guy and he just got me another towel to use from lost and found. When I asked the girl at the front desk about it when I was leaving she was totally unhelpful and disinterested. I had to use a random dirty towel from the lost and found but the worst was the lack of apology, guidance, or interest from anyone there. Locker rooms are lame. It could be less expensive but hey I have a place I can swim at and I've yet to have a circle swim situation and have actually only had to split a lane one time. read more

I did adult swimming lessons here. It wasn't worth it at all. Trainers would just spend 10-15 mins and go about doing their thing. They didn't focus on making sure that I learn swimming by the end of the course. Really disappointed and wouldn't recommend. read more

This is a fantastic pool, with great lap swim hours and very friendly staff! I am a former Master's swimmer, but prefer lap swim these days and the mid-day hours are great. They also do a nice job of notifying people of changes/updates to pool conditions. My one "complaint" is that I don't feel the water is quite warm enough, but I think most people think it is perfect. The locker room is also very small, but I will take that since the pool is so big! read more

been meaning to update -9/11/07: they raised the drop in rates to $5.00 and $40 for a resident swim pass of 10. I'm a lap swimmer and I swim at 2 pools..1 of which is this one. I love how this pool is always clean and is reasonably priced at $4.00 a pop. If you're a Burlingame res like me, you can buy the 10 swim pass for $30. Cheap huh? The pool is 25 x 50 so there are a pretty good amount of lap lanes. Chances are you'll have your own lane or share it with only one other other ('ve been to pools where'd I'd share with 3 others haha). I usually go at night. Their night lap swimming is pretty late at 7P to 830P M-Thrs (not sure if it's extended during summer hours) so there were a few times I've closed out the pool. I've gone Saturday mornings as well. I believe their lap swim starts at 9:45 on Saturdays. Less one star for the locker room facility. For such a gorgeous pool, the locker room doesn't measure up. It gets pretty crowded in there (especially on the weekends). It's VERY small and only had 3 showers in a communal shower area. Let's just say, there are few times where I just wash my hair, throw on some shorts and head straight to my car cuz it's just so crowded...again, that's usually on the weekends. edit/update 5/15: was there last night. MAN, got out of the pool at 8:30 only to find one lady at one shower, a few ladies at the 2nd shower and about 4 or 5 ladies at the last shower. I decided to throw on my pants, put on my sweatshirt and just go straight home to shower. Thankfully, I live close by. read more

Burlingame Aquatic pool is great for swim lessons, Master's swim, lap swim, recreational swim and has an awesome swim team. The life guards and staff are friendly. Sylvia the director of BAC always has a smile on her face and with her soft spoken manner she is able to get the job done effortlessly. The swim team coaches are well respected by their students and their dedication to the team shows when you see the coaches on deck with winter gear on and umbrellas braving the cold and wet weather while the swimmers are in 82 degrees warm water. BAC is a great organization and a great asset to the community. Our daughter has been swimming with the club for 8 years. During that time she has gone from a novice swimmer to a determined young athlete. The BAC coaches stress team spirit while still able to give powerful individual instruction. She has developed friendships outside of her regular school circle. She has grown emotionally and intellectually because of BAC stressing hard work, planning and teamwork. The pool itself is great; nice and big with plenty of space. The coaches are also amazing here and are good at what they do which I really appreciate. However the women's locker room is a complete disaster being not only flat out gross but also cramped. So unless you enjoy changing/showering while stepping over backpacks/bags and also being up close and personal with some strangers, I would recommend you wait to shower/change at home. Now what is the most irritating part about this pool is the front desk staff. They never acknowledge you and could care less about anything. I learned 3 days after my 1st practice that due to medical reasons I couldn't swim for 3 months which covered my entire session. Of course I wanted my money back since I only attended one practice. I have emailed several different members and not one response from anybody. I then called the facility and they said I must speak to the accountant however she was in a meeting while I called and that she would call me back. Shocker: I got no call. read more

I've had experience with both swimming and water polo teams and both stars are for water polo side of it. Swimming instructors are arrogant and not very engaging, our first swim meet was a total failure since nobody could direct us where to go and what to do (like we're supposed to be born with that knowledge). On water polo side, coach Randy is very nice and straight forward. Water in the pool occasionally tends to be too cold, I think they've got some heating issues they need to fix... read more
