As stated in another review HE IS NOT AN ARCHITECT! We started our project in November of 2018 and we are now in June of 2019 and the plans are still not completed and have been returned to us from the county with needless mistakes, Like major points missing... just to name a few... no electrical panel for the entire house, measurements for required items that need to be certain distances from each other not notated and the list goes on of six pages of corrections. Ted was told our budget and has a good relationship with a contractor that we were considering to use. They were both in emails and communication with us about said budget. Multiple times and even the first meeting the building was way over budget. He sited finishes that were EXTREMELY high end. When we received the plans for the first time, 50% of our wants were not drawn into the plans. Things like how many bedrooms we wanted and also bathrooms. All very simple requests. when the plans were returned again the budget was blown by 300k. Ted doesn't write down or remember half of what you tell him.So every time any changes were requested it took weeks/months to do. Also communication about needed steps is non existent. If you are not a an expert at drawing and submitting your plans go with anyone else. It was a total waste of time and money dealing with this "design" team. I have countless number of emails and texts proving everything said here. I wish I could go back and undo this past 8 months becuase this was suppose to be fun but it has been an utter nightmare. Here is my advice if you want to use this design team... 1. make sure you get every deadline in writing(ted will not answer you when asking for one, I have tons of texts and emails proving this it goes radio silence when asking for a firm date for him to complete a task) 2. Know everything there is to know about building a house(because the poor communication skills and lack of getting things done in timely manner will result in years of planning) 3. know that they put high end finishes in the designs even though they dont tell you. There is nothing that said anything about what type of wall finishes would be used and we did not ask for things to be put in but when the final plans showed up they were all in there... $50k worth of fancy plaster that we cant even paint) 4. Make sure you walk the plans in with his plan runner Lise when you are ready to submit plans(they charge you for this and you have no say how it actually goes). They dont do anything in a timely manner. She LIES about everything!!! 5. no phone calls only text and emails to make sure you cover your tracks and have proof what is going on. 6. Do not give them BLANK CHECKS thank god that we did not give them what they asked for. They wanted 5 blank checks. They could have emptied our accounts. read more

Unfortunately, all of the other reviews are accurate. Ted was quite eager to get our business and was in frequent contact until we had signed and paid and we had his original design. Once it was done, we had an impossible time getting ahold of him. We would request changes to plans and they would be completely ignored and left out or forgotten. After a year and a half, our plans are FINALLY in permitting, and sure enough we got comments back on some of the stuff that we had requested to change on the plans in advance of submission. It was never changed. It has been extremely frustrating. It looks as though we will finally get started in the next few months (if Ted's guys actually get the proper paperwork to the city)... We will be moving out of our house for over six months with our toddler and now a new baby... The project was supposed to be FINISHED before the baby came... But here we are... Frustrating. Disappointing. The end design was beautiful though... So that's the 2 stars. read more

We are just finishing a big remodel based on plans Ted drew. Ted is a draftsman, not an architect. We have a challenging house on the river and we came up with the solutions to the problems -- he drafted them for us. His plans were ok. So if you know exactly what you want, he will draft that for you. If you have a challenging house, spend the extra money and get an architect. read more

I have been working with Ted for almost a year 9/17/18 will be exactly a year. Ted is a good talker but not very good at communicating once he has your money ( it was my mistake to pay him off). Ted told us in September of 2017 that we should be braking ground in February of 2018, then he said something came up and we should be breaking ground in April. April came and went and we are still waiting. He doesn't return calls or emails. Beware of working with him and his friend Lise Stubbs. He lies a lot, so make sure you call the engineer or the city to check on things your self . read more

If I could give Ted less stars then one, I would have! Our builder used him as a designer and after our initial meeting we him, we signed a contract with him, made an initial deposit (half of his fees) and went ahead to start drafting a design to build a new house. Unfortunately, we had to pause in the midst of COVID breakout to gather more finances. We were thinking to resume in 6-12 months. We asked Ted to calculate compensation for his time and then to return whatever was left of that deposit to us. We were shocked that after meeting with him twice and getting a rough draft of a simple 2,200 sq ft house our fee was $4,900. He factored in every minute he spent with us on both meetings and even his miles/driving time to see us - and we had no idea. I don't know why anyone would do that to his returning clients. Beware - there is nowhere in the contract stating that. It is clearly written $150/hr for the work done so far. Please be careful - he only cares about money! read more
