I've been a regular client of Teddy's since 2022, when I found her through Yelp and Google reviews. Unlike stylists I'd visited before who claimed they could handle curls like mine (spoiler: they couldn't), Teddy proudly showcased photos of curly clients--without blow drying their hair straight for the "after" shot. Since seeing Teddy, we've worked together to find a hairstyle that's not only the healthiest and best for my curls, but also the most low-maintenance I've ever had. I seriously get compliments all the time--one time, someone even (safely) stopped their car to roll down their window just to tell me how amazing my hair looked! Teddy is a superstar. I tried to cut my own bangs and really did a number on my hair. I desperately needed a gifted and non judgemental person to rescue me and I reached out to Teddy. This was my first cut with her and honestly she saved me. I looked so wild before I went in and we had a blast getting to know each other, while she gave me a great cut that complemented my face so well. If you saw the before, you'd think the after would've been impossible, but she pulled it off. It was a no brainer to book my next cut with her once it had grown out a bit and needed a fresh trim. I brought in a series of ideas from pixie to 70s shag (and everything in between) and he crafted the most amazing cut that captured all of the best parts of my inspo pictures, but suited me perfectly. I've lived in LA for over six years and had to sit through so many bad haircuts. You think in a place where looks are key that a great hairstylist would be a dime a dozen. Where do I even start?! I have spent 5 years in LA bouncing from one hair stylist to another because I could never find one that did my hair perfectly and just the way I like... UNTIL NOW.  I first went to Teddy looking for a gray/blonde balayage. I'm Asian and my hair is pretty much pure black, so I knew that I had to be careful because I've seen one too many Asians with yellow, brassy (and even green!!!) hair! After looking at my hair, Teddy walked me through the steps that we would have to take, which involved me coming in a couple times over the course of a couple months.  The one thing that stood out to me was Teddy's level of care that she showed. Many people expect to walk into a salon with black hair and walk out with silver hair, and many hairdressers oblige even though they know it will destroy your hair! But not Teddy. Teddy puts the health of your hair first and makes sure that even after the procedure, you have shiny, healthy locks that don't feel like straw (because ew, crunchy hair?!). She was honest and transparent with her expectations, which made me feel so at ease with her, knowing that my hair would be taken care of.   After my initial call with her over the phone, I went into her salon, and I saw that Teddy had bought a special toner bleach just for my hair! I was absolutely astounded as that is going above and beyond! Teddy also blocked out her whole entire day for me and spent SIX HOURS making my hair ABSOLUTELY perfect. Like WHAT?!?! When you find a hair dresser that is willing to do that for you, you know you've found a keeper! I also may or may not have screamed in happiness after she was done because of how AMAZINGLY it turned out!!!!  I'm writing this review 6 weeks after the photo I'm attaching to this post, and I still get compliments from people walking by who want to know where I got my hair done! Also bonus: since I'm a current medical student, I needed something that would be low maintenance and Teddy absolutely delivered, so to all my ladies that don't want to have to spent too much time/money on upkeep, this is especially for you! My hair has grown out beautifully and the money I spent could not have been more worth it.  Honestly I could go on for paragraphs about how amazing Teddy is, but I think her work speaks for itself. Teddy is a legitimate hair wizard. I'm not sure what the hairstylist version of Hogwarts is, but she for sure went there and has benevolently brought her magic to us non-magical folks in order to help us look goooooood. When Teddy's name was dropped in my lap, I was in desperate need of someone who knew how to do red hair. I hadn't found a place in LA that I loved and I think my hair was suffering for it. But then Teddy appeared. She's like Glenda the Good Witch, but with an awesome shag. Teddy took the time to look at my hair, assess the damage done by the previous place I went to in LA, and work out a plan to not only give it an amazing red color, but to cut my hair in a way that worked repair the past damage while letting me to keep it long. And (as if that wasn't baller enough) when I had hormonal hair loss after giving birth, she found a way to cut my hair that disguised the temporary thinning and also somehow made my hair look thicker. Like I said...magic. It doesn't hurt that she is also a delight of a human (wizard). I have lots of hair, so my appointments take lots of time. She is so easy to be around, it's genuinely like having a good hang out sesh with a great friend where you just HAPPEN to leave with better-looking hair. I would recommend her to anyone. I love what Teddy did to my hair! I am writing this review 3 months after I went in to get my hair done. I asked for something that was low maintenance and would grow out well because I wouldn't have time to come back in for 3-4 months -- which wasn't an easy ask since I have light brown hair and was mostly honey blonde. Even as it's been growing out I've loved the style and color. No steaks and no brown/blonde line. I'd definitely recommend Teddy. Teddy is by far the best hair stylist I have ever been to. I started seeing her when I was working in LA and continue to go to her even though I am now in San Francisco. The way she cuts and highlights my hair is so thorough and natural looking that I only have to get it done about every 6 months. The highlights and the cut both grow out so nicely that even when the 6 month mark hits, my hair still looks natural. I first came to her with a bunch of old, crispy blonde highlights and fried ends. After just the first appointment she was able to transform the color and cut it in such a way that I can air dry it if I want and it still looks good. I have baby fine hair and have always had issues with it going flat in an hour. Not after she cut it! My hair somehow always comes out healthier after she highlights it, too! Ok on the real....in a place like LA where everyone's hair looks AMAZING at all times, Teddy is your new best friend for every girl ballin' on a budget. She still costs what you would expect for insanely good coloring jobs, but her pricing is so much more reasonable than any other top stylists around for the 5 star hair treatment you get. She's an absolute expert at coloring/ highlighting in a way that grows out beautifully (since if you're anything like me, money has been a little tight this year so I've gone months between appointments!) I've also come to her for a botched at-home dye job I tried during the pandemic which turned my hair orange (desperate) and she corrected it seamlesslyyy. Here is why. 1) teddy understands all types of hair textures, how they grow out, how they achieve volume, and how to cut wavy and curly hair to give it luscious natural beauty and movement in a way I have never gotten from any other stylist 2) She is not only an expert colorist but also an educator of colorists and whether you are have always dyed your hair or never tried you are in ultra professional hands to achieve what you want 3) she respects that some of us are drip dry, shower and go type of people that need a style that will look soft and gorgeous even when we put in minimal effort 4) she will give you a cut and style that grows out beautifully - to her own detriment a teddy cut will look fab even after a few months, she works the layers and the shapes to give you something that will last 5) she is a tender and wonderful person and spending time with her is a goddamn delight. I found Teddy on Yelp when I was in desperate need of haircut. I have extremely thick, long, curly hair and frankly I have never had a good haircut . I have tried so many different people in LA and I always leave unhappy and like I spent way too much money. When I made an appointment with Teddy online, I made sure to leave a note that I was nervous and that I wanted to talk prior b/c I had several bad experiences. She talked to me for 10 mins. before she picked up a scissor. She really listened to what I wanted. She told me what she was doing the whole time and made sure I was comfortable before she continued every step of the way. She left the length long while giving my hair much needed layers and volume. She told me since it was my first time with her, she was cutting conservatively but that she has a 3 week guarantee. If I didn't like something, wanted more or an adjustment, I could come back at no cost. I took her up on that offer and returned a week later. She again listened to me and cut my hair the way I wanted. I haven't worn my hair down in YEARS b/c there was just so much of it. I have been wearing it down often now b/c it just so light and easy to manage. She is AMAZING and worth every penny. The first stylist I have had that did not push her opinion on me. She realizes everyone wears their hair different, has their own products and what makes them comfortable. She listens to what you want. She is a savor and I will be back to her no doubt. Most curly girls know that slept on curly hair is almost always a unpresentable disaster requiring an updo or simply washing it all over again. I have never in my life woken up without a blowout and not looked like a cave woman with a rats nest for hair. Except for today. I've been a New Yorker for over 30 years and in my time in the city I have gone to many and I mean many hair stylists from Fredrick Fekkai to Dramatics and everything in between. I've always for the most part been okay with my hair as I never did anything too drastic. I figured someone that in demand must be really good so I made the appointment and went for it. I'm happy to say that I LOVE my hair color. I asked Teddy for a red (which I had never done before) and she delivered a beautiful rich color with plenty of dimension. I love it and it looks good with out me having to wear a bit of makeup if I don't want to because it complements my natural skin color. Before I met Teddy I honestly didn't put much thought into my hair -- I just figured it would never do what I wanted it to, and (like many men) the best I could hope for was a "less-than-terrible hair day." I've been religiously going to Teddy for the past 4 years and cannot imagine ever going to another stylist now! I've been seeing her since I was 19 and she has taken me through almost every hair shade imaginable, including a very unfortunate bleaching experience that I tried to do myself, she completely saved my hair.
