Our 5 year old daughter has LOVED her week at Headfirst (Multi-Sport, St. Albans). I'm writing this…read morereview because I had some concerns after reading other comments - but I think for most children Headfirst would probably be a great experience. It is an investment, but not out of line with other options in major East Coast cities. We are visiting DC from out of town and were all anxious before the first day, but the week at camp has exceeded our expectations. Other kids have been great and every interaction we've had with the counselors/coaches has been very positive. Our daughter has looked forward to camp every morning and informed me last night that she didn't want to go home because she "didn't want to leave" her camp. It's definitely a bigger camp, so that is a consideration if your child would benefit from a lower staff:child ratio. The counselors are on the younger side, but for us - this was a plus because the energy was high and infectious.

To say this camp program is ran very poorly is an understatement. Our 4 year old daughter went…read morethrough 2 other camps this summer and a full year of preschool without a scratch. We enrolled her in the Headstart summer program at Flint Hill for only 2 weeks and she was injured twice and required medical attention, each time more serious and the last time due to a broken hula hoop, which is total quality control and lack of supervision and care of the kids. It could have been a lot worse as it was close to her eyes. The management seems to be ran by unqualified individuals who did not even inform us the first time she got hurt until we pick up our daughter from camp. Stay away unless you want mediocre and carelessness for your child.

A year ago they double charged me thousands of dollars and have promised me, in writing, on a near monthly basis, that my refund is imminent. I am still waiting for my money. The shadiness is out of control. Lynn, the program director, never reveals her last name to parents. Tsion, the camp founder, seems more intent on marketing herself on instagram than running a quality program. Lastly, they speak of accounting like it is some sort of anonymous overlord, as if they have no control over their own company. I think I am going to have no choice but to sue these people.

Our invoice said Columbia Heights and this was also confirmed by a staff person signing emails "Lynn." When we showed up Monday morning to the Dance Institute of Washington, not only was no camp there, they said they had never even heard of Kidovation! During repeated attempts that morning, no one answered either phone number listed on their website. We also emailed to ask what was going on and did initially get replies from "Lynn" stating that they had consolidated locations and were only in NE now. She claims we were informed (we were not! And we literally just registered days ago so they presumably knew about a location change by then and they confirmed our location) and suggested we should go to the NE location. We repeatedly asked to be called. She said she would call at 10:30am, but we decided to drive to the NE location thinking it would be easier to get an answer in person. In the meantime, we emailed asking for a refund as the NE location was too far for us to do with our other child's camp pickup and drop off and due to the lack of communication and professionalism we did not feel it was safe to leave our daughter in their care; 5 minutes before we arrived at the NE location, they emailed saying they would process it. No one ever called us. Since we were so close and because we had now discovered several yelp reviews with similar claims as ours and all the trouble people had in getting refunds, we decided to still go inside at the NE location to see if we could speak with Lynn in person and get our refund more promptly. Staff there hadn't even heard of Lynn but told us they weren't surprised at all to hear about our experience and texted Tsion (the owner) for us who said she would refund us by the end of the day. Very unsurprisingly, we did not receive a refund. Through persistent calling and emailing on Tuesday and mentioning we had been in touch with other families who had similar experiences, we were able to get a refund processed. At best, this "camp" seems disorganized with nonexistent communication and at worst, fraudulent. I don't know if any of the positive reviews are real, but I would never recommend this business to anyone.

The courts were constantly dirty, the lighting was terrible, and the equipment looked old and barely maintained. Half the time there were scheduling issues, and staff acted annoyed whenever anyone asked for help especially some blonde women at the front desk who desperately needs some Botox. The locker rooms smelled bad, and there never seemed to be enough space during busy hours. The whole gym also felt really unorganized, especially during tournaments and peak times. It was hard to find available courts, and communication from the staff was almost nonexistent. I've been to much better gyms that actually care about keeping the place clean and making members feel welcome. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone

Justin and Jasmine made sure we stayed hydrated, and regularly brought us into the air conditioning to avoid overheating. They ensured our safety every moment we were there. The rope course was insanely fun, the giant swing and zip line were a blast and our favorite part was honestly the rock climbing! Justin and Jasmine were fantastic - we will definitely come back (preferably not during a heat wave haha) and hope they will be our guides again - every single person today made it memorable for my family! The summer breeze running through my hair as I breath in the scene of the wharf on both sides for 2 hours as we engage in small talk with the crew and other patrons - what more could I ask for on a Saturday evening? It's BYOB and food so we stopped by Chop't, grabbed a couple wraps so we could eat something easily handheld, and 2 bottles of wine. Make sure to bring your own cups and utensils. There is a tiny bathroom downstairs (I believe they're called "heads"), but I'd suggest you use the bathroom before heading on board- never fun to be drunk and crammed into a coffin sized bathroom with nowhere to wash your hands (they do have sanitizers though). The staff will guide you to the bathroom beforehand so take advantage of that. There's no "tour guide," but feel free to engage with the crew and ask any questions. We're technically from the area, and I'm very familiar with The Wharf, so I didn't need any of that. I was more in it for the scenery and being on water while watching the sun set. We had a fantastic time and would definitely do it again!

I get they were mainly coordinating the many things that come with sailing, and I wasn't looking for a tour guide or anything, but mom and I only knew what we were near because we happened to overhear it since we sat right next to one of them. Even when we tried to initiate conversation and ask questions, they weren't very talkative. Even though mom and I were talking, it was still a quiet and awkward ride. At the end, he went around and chit chatted a little bit with all the different groups, but not with us, maybe because we already talked to him by asking him questions? We definitely got a weird vibe from it all. The check-in process is smooth and the boat is spacious with a bathroom below deck too and they let you bring your own drinks and snacks, but I'd probably go for another company next time
