    Their coleslaw is AMAZING
    Jeff O.

This place is so cool. Great ambiance. Family owned and operated. Great diversity of food options. But they do their pork tenderloin really well, fish fry on Fridays (and I think it's always on their menu). Their flat iron is LEGIT. They cook it right. Nice tender and juicy cut. Great beer selection too!

    Even more beautiful inside!

Wonderful experience! We ate here with my brother and his family, a total of 8 including 2 kids. The barn was beautiful, the staff was super friendly, and the food was great! Our favorites were the bartender in bibs and the Cow pie for dessert

    Tenderloin and fries were perfect!

First time ever going tonight and I had to try the tenderloin! I thought it was great! Had to wait a little while for our food but they were very busy! Loved the atmosphere being in an old barn. Will definitely go back again!

We stopped in for our first time tonight! Cute place that is practically in the middle of no where. From the outside it just looks like a barn. But on the inside is beautiful! Great food. Neat atmosphere. Great service by Bailey.

    Best meal ever

Mmm so good! Best in town,or the universe! I'll recommend this place to all my friends

Overpriced. Steak over cooked. Potatoes undercooked, waitress was rude when we were the only table at the time.

We were able to snag a last-minute reservation on OpenTable, and the entire experience was wonderful. Our waitress was incredibly attentive--our water glasses were refilled frequently, and even when the restaurant got busy, she made sure to check on us. We were seated in a cozy, intimate circular booth on the side, which made the evening feel even more special. What I'd Order Again: Alaskan King Crab Legs - Pro tip: Order these as a side to another dish instead of as an entrée--it's much cheaper that way! The crab was incredibly fresh, thanks to their flash-freezing process, and it really hit the spot. Lobster Bisque - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I added this last-minute when our waitress mentioned that people travel just to try it, and it did not disappoint. The freshly cracked pepper, along with the truffle accents, made this so flavorful and rich. Cocktails - The drinks were fantastic! I had the Tweed Jacket cocktail and really enjoyed it. What made it even cooler was that our waitress actually created a cocktail that got added to the menu when she started working there--so cool! Scallops - Perfectly cooked with a stunning presentation. While I've had better on the coasts, I was impressed given that we're in Iowa. Desserts (HIGHLY recommend the homemade coffee ice cream & tiramisu!) - The tiramisu was amazing, and I could tell it was homemade because I nearly choked on the cocoa powder (the ultimate test!). But the real star? The homemade coffee ice cream--absolutely phenomenal. What I Wouldn't Order Again: Jumbo Crab Cake - It was good, but it had that slightly "old crab" taste and reminded me more of snow crab than the rich, sweet crab flavor I was hoping for. Given that I'm from Seattle, my seafood standards are high, so this didn't quite meet expectations. Brussels Sprouts - Great flavor, but I prefer mine extra crispy, and these weren't quite there. 10 oz Filet Mignon - It was cooked to the right temperature, but it wasn't as juicy as other steaks I've had in Iowa. Good, but not particularly memorable. Other Notes: Shareable Side Dishes - One thing I really liked was that their side dishes are all shareable, so they feel more like appetizers than traditional sides. It makes it easy to try a variety, and I definitely want to explore more of them when I come back! Location & Accessibility - Even though Ruthie's is inside a casino, it's tucked on the side, so you don't have to deal with the cigarette smell. Parking is plentiful, though depending on where you park, it might be a bit of a walk. Bathrooms - The restrooms are located outside the restaurant on the right--not too far of a walk. Final Thoughts: Ruthie's is a true gem, and I can see why it's so highly recommended. The service was outstanding, the food was top-tier, and the small details--from our cozy booth to our waitress's personal touch on the cocktail menu--made the night extra special. It's the kind of place that turns a meal into a memory, and I can't wait to come back.

A little out of the way most times but glad way went the extra mile tonight. I recommend this place 100%!!! The filet lollipops, for an appetizer, were amazing!!! Then came our entrees. All of us got steak and NO ONE was disappointed!!! All done to protection, the way a great steakhouse is supposed to operate. Our server was above and beyond helpful in making our decisions easy and would take his advise time and time again when ordering. Filet was perfect and the Gouda cheese potatoes as a side were to die for!! Definitely go here!!!

My husband and I arrived a bit early- parking is really tough on a Friday night in downtown Galena but we scored a spot a block away quickly. So, we headed to the bar to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. $10 Pinot Grigio and Petosi $6.00 on tap- I enjoyed the piano player for a bit! Very talented! Once our party all arrived, we will seated in one of the dining rooms. We started with sharing saganaki, because this is what you do here. Most everyone ordered the filet, but I wanted the salmon and husband had the Greek chicken. The entrees come with a starch and soup or salad so we chose the cream of broccoli and a baked potato. Everything was very tasty and service was excellent as they work on a team - so there was always someone promptly picking up dishes etc. The meal ran about $75 pp as we averaged it out

I left a message with a call back number asking about a reservation. Didn't get a callback, so we were a little concerned walking in at 5:30 on a Thursday evening. First thing we were asked after walking in was do you have a reservation? I explained what I wrote above and he says I think we have a table, no waiting. We usually prefer a booth, there was an empty booth next to our table, so I asked if it was available, was told that had a reservation. We settled into our table, ordered drinks and an appetizer. Then a staff member came over and offered the booth as the reservation was running late. We stayed put, placed our dinner order and relaxed. My partner ordered the small prime rib, I opted for the Greek style Cod. We both chose baked potatos. Our appetizer Greek feta with kalamata olives and tomatoes was very good. We opted out on the salads that came with our meals, but as the restaurant rotated customers we heard several offers for lentil soup instead, sadly not to us. Our meals came, great job with timing the different meals looking great. The medium-rare prime rib was great on top, but the bottom had a 1/8" deep sear that was a surprise. My Greek cod woke me up to a new version of the meal. Very Good and worth coming back for! The room was twice greeted with the exciting display of flaming saganaki, if you've never seen or had it, it's a great display and everyone nearby gets to feel the heat. The small prime rib was larger than any we've had elsewhere, but should have been more carefully cooked as the restaurant was not at capacity. Overall a nice restaurant, you have to love Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin music. Our server was very good, but missed offering the soup. I guess if you're calling for a reservation, call after 4:00 pm during serving hours. Worth returning to try other offerings.
