Came here for a Valentine's day dinner, and walked out with a new favorite dinner spot! My boyfriend and I ordered the crab cakes, caesar salads, and ordered their butter flight (secret menu item but must have!) for our appetizers. All of which were delicious. For entrees, I got the shrimp pesto pasta and my boyfriend got the steak diane with loaded mashed potatoes. Personally I was blown away with the homemade creamy pesto sauce, the noodles were so unique and the shrimp was cooked so well. My boyfriend's steak was tender and flavorful, and he said he enjoyed it. We also got the limited edition red velvet cake for valentines which we took to go. The back room was decorated for Valentines which is something I personally love when restaurants do! Super cozy and seasonal. The service was great, our waiter was so sweet and attentive. We gave this place another chance and unfortunately were extremely disappointed again. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the service was good, and the drinks were well made. We tried the duck wontons -- they were okay but not my favorite. The French onion soup was good. However, they simply cannot cook a steak properly. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare and it came out raw and severely undercooked. The fat wasn't even rendered. The manager did remove it from the bill, which we appreciated, but the steak should never have been served in the first place. It felt like the expediter was asleep at the pass. It's frustrating because the restaurant has great potential -- the atmosphere is beautiful and the service staff does a good job -- but the kitchen clearly lacks standards and consistency. 1 out of 5. EAT STEAK! I had chicken smothered Iexpected soft juicy chicken breast and it was like a plank of wood. I loved the veggies and my husband and grandson loved their steaks. One got the sirloin and one the delmonico. Cooked just right. They were both succulent so juicy and flavorful. The atmosphere and service were great! We did not have reservations but they were able to get us a table. Would go again and eat steak. Lol read more

Overall it was an acceptable experience. I ordered the demonic steak, a cut from the ribeye. It came out way over cooked. They prepared another for me. Meanwhile I had a house salad with pesto vinaigrette dressing. Needed more pesto. But was ok. The side of Brussel sprouts were tasty but under cooked Hard and needing more seasoning .Steak was re-presented and cooked as requested (med-rare). Had the hen butter topping as an extra. Feel the beef was mediocre at best. Supposedly aged 21 days. Not impressed with the food, but those attending the service were very good. Will not return. This is a late review, so my apologies. I had my birthday dinner here on October 7th. A couple of staff members from LP Street Food highly recommended the restaurant. And they were spot on. I chose to sit at the bar for my meal. I started with an appetizer of crab-stuffed mushrooms. They were rich in flavor and delectable, with just enough crab to not overpower the mushrooms' taste. The main course was a 10oz sirloin cooked medium with breaded Lobster Tail and Tater Tots. Initially, I was opting for the NY strip; however, the young lady who tended the bar and took my order mentioned this was their special. And since it was my birthday, I said what the heck? Let's do it. And I was not disappointed. Coming from Texas and having dined on grass-fed beef all the time, this was new to me. I will say I prefer the corn-fed variant. Tastier and with a buttery and slightly sweet flavor. I ordered it cooked medium and it literally melted in my mouth with each bite. Absolutely delicious. Went there several months ago and will not be back. My teenage son and I arrived about an hour before closing and were seated off in a side section with no one else, which would have been quiet and peaceful, except that within a few minutes someone brought out a bright yellow mop bucket and placed it right in my line of sight and left it there for the duration of our meal. If memory serves, they were also cleaning empty tabletops around us. I don't know if the tables generally have tablecloths, but ours did not, and our plates literally slid around on the pretty black -- but slick -- table as we attempted to cut our food. The food itself was good, though not exceptional, but the overall sense that we were interrupting their efforts to close up for the night made the entire experience unpleasant. The reason is for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the "heartland" of the USA, it is a 5 STAR REVIEW here. I LOVE this place; it is the true "middle America flyover state" restaurant. This is as "SALT OF THE EARTH" as it gets! These people as hardworking, "get it done" as you will find...but that means this: restaurants are NOT their first love. They work too hard growing the world's food . We call it the three big "F's" here in Iowa, Heartland USA: Farming, Feeding, and Forn... well, you get the picture. Hard working and BIG Families are the norm. In other words, this is not STEAK 44 in Scottsdale, AZ (see my other reviews). You will, however, have excellent service, wine "pours" worthy of a king for a reasonable price, and you will leave quite satisfied. If you are ever in Cedar Rapids, it is worthy of a "try" on your part. Don't order exotic preps...just the basics, as in rare, medium rare, etc. What? you want a well done steak??? We came for my 66th Birthday, and oh, what a treat! Their Stuffed Jalapeno appetizer was incredible. Justin recommended the Jalapeno Ranch dressing, and he was spot-on... I had a red blend, and Debbie had the Phantom Chardonnay, perfect choices... Their rolls came with four different butters, all good, but the garlic and chive was the tops. Caesar Salads were a great way to start the dinner, and then out came their Steak Dianne and their special Delmonico Steak with a peppercorn sauce and onions Strings... Perfect! The brussels were good, but a touch al dente, while the creamed spinach was perfection again... Secret, we ate half the salads, bringing the rest home. And we ate half the main dishes as well, the balance for tomorrow... To finish, a Limoncello cake with raspberry sauce. It was light, fresh, not overly rich - a perfect finish... DUCK WONTONS 4 duck and sweet corn wantons, with cream cheese and drizzled with raspberry sauce. This was my favorite appetizer, a true foodie experience that artfully mixes flavors. It's a true art. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES Lightly battered green tomatoes with melted fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. The cheese was through the roof. BRUSCHETTA Marinated diced tomatoes and fresh basil, topped with fresh goat cheese on ciabatta bread. NEW YORK STRIP The steak was cooked perfectly and came with nice grill marks. This restaurant is definitely worth checking out. We are lucky we have a place like this in Cedar Rapids. The food and drinks are great and the experience is even greater. You can dine inside the main restaurant, enjoy the large outside patio on nice days or find your way to the back bar full of tv's. The menu has a lot of choices and the food is excellent. read more

Just shared a Valentine's Day dinner here and wanted to provide some feedback for management. Spent a little over $300 for 2. - we like to eat. Positives - the service and appetizers were phenomenal. Kind and efficient (the service), hot and tasty (the apps). I couldn't done with just apps. Areas of opportunity: 1. The lighting in the spillover area is clearly way too bright for dinner on any day. It was brighter than chuckee cheese. Please address this with the multiple cost effective solutions available. Just wasn't cute at all for a steakhouse. So disappointed having a date night there. 2. The Steaks: nice pick of cuts for price and temperature was prepared nearly perfect. HOWEVER, it was extremely bland lacking any type of seasoning. The steak tasted like it was literally just thrown on the grill. Unfortunately, I was left adding salt, pepper and dousing it in A1 sauce. As a Chicago native I felt embarrassed doing so and couldn't finish it as there were large parts where the rind wasnt grilled down properly. So disappointed. 3. The hot sides: same as the steaks, Under seasoned and lacked attention to quality. Please revisit the Mac and cheese; I can see what you're going for but it's not there yet. Allow cheese to thicken more, salt the noodles, less soupy texture and shred your own cheese so there's a more creamy consistency. I couldn't finish my loaded mash, Mac n cheese, broccoli, or the ice berg salad. Disappointed. 4. Presentation of drinks could be refined a bit. I understand the rush Valentines day brings but the tavern feel in a steakhouse wasn't doing it. Receiving the same large cup for different drinks isn't what someone expects from a steakhouse. Going to an acclaimed steak house over a chain like Texas Roadhouse is a deliberate choice because of what you'd expect from food, its presentation (many of our plates were chipped), ambiance, drinks, and service. I'm hoping y'all slow down, quality control, and make some small changes to your establishment and ops. Would be open to dining once more for good measure. read more

We recently had dinner at Kingston's with some friends and the service was outstanding. We sat in the bar area and our server was very friendly and on-top of our orders. The food has always been very good, and we love the desert! Easy parking and love the atmosphere. Even when they are busy it doesn't feel like it. read more

Went out with another couple to celebrate my wife's birthday on a Sunday evening where there was only a couple other tables in the restaurant. Our server was very pleasant and everything was well until my wife's steak (the filet mignon) arrived. She had ordered it medium and it took just one look for the server to observe that it was well done and then some. This was not a big deal and these things happen. He sent it back and they promptly brought out another steak. Unfortunately, they were a little too prompt as the next steak that came out was completely raw on the inside not even to the point that I would say rare. The man who had brought the steak out who I'm assuming was the manager observed that this one was cooked incorrectly as well and took it back. Finally that same steak was returned which at this point even if at the right temperature was dry and flavorless due to being fired and cut into multiple times. They did comp us with two free desserts in an attempt to salvage what was otherwise a very disappointing evening. Mistakes happen but at the price point and with the steakhouse in the name the expectations were much higher. read more

We were super excited to try this place. We are new to the area and love great food & drinks. Was super disappointed being charged for ice & blue cheese stuffed olives for my dirty martini on the rocks!!! My drink arrived with no "dirty". My spouse had to go to bar to ask for olive juice. The drink arrived with little ice, so asked for more ice. Who knew that they charge for ice and for blue cheese stuffed olives!? We have been all over the USA & have never been up charged for ice or blue cheese stuffed olives. The outdoor patio is lovely with nice fire pits and the salmon bites were delicious. I am picky with steaks and I quite enjoyed my ribeye. My wife loved her Monster Burger. Service was excellent. I did deduct a star since our food came out and a few looked like they were finished before the others and they sat in a warmer or something. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The salad had fresh ingredients. However, the food was lacking any seasoning even with adding salt and pepper. Overall great experience. Service, buschetta, bread all great. Steak also really good, but for me I thought the seasoning a bit salty, I'd probably just get light seasoning next time. Really only gripe is, charging for toppings on a baked potato?? I've never seen that before, it's not much, but still, the potato is already an upcharge. I was so excited to finally try this restaurant. Even though the prices are high. The server was awful. He never came to check on our food or ask if we needed anything after we were served. the béarnaise sauce was terrible. I got the Oscar style fillet, and it was horrible. The cheese sauce on the Lyonnaise potatoes was thick and goopy and didn't taste like cheese sauce. Very disappointing. The lighting is also horrible bright white lights in the chandeliers. read more
