We tried a bit of everything and all was excellent. 12oz Filet was cooked perfectly. The seared Tuna tasted fresh and portions were huge. The portobello dish was great for a vegan option. Both soups were tasty and the baked feta appetizer hit the spot We've been waiting for a local spot to offer a relaxing and upscale environment where we could get excellent steaks and it's finally here The best part of our meal was the homemade strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Came in for dinner with my boyfriend and this was our first time here. We both had the New York Strip with Mashed Potatoes and agreed the seasoning for the steaks were great. However, the steaks were not as tender as we hoped and some parts were too hard to eat; they had some toughness to them which was a shame as there is a decent price tag to their meats. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, however shortly after we received our food, the lights dimmed (which is very normal while dining in restaurants) however, it was a little to dark to see each other and we felt as if we had to whisper the whole time. We did also notice that the online menu and reviews of food didn't completely match the menu we were given. There were some things we wanted to try but they weren't listed so maybe they have different menus depending on time of day/week or maybe some items were removed? Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. All in all our experience wasn't bad, but nothing stood out either. read more

My salad was meh, but edible. I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the strip. Both of our steaks were flavorless and the filet was extremely tough. Rules say dress code, but couple seated next to us he wore old jeans/ t-shirt, and a baseball cap he never took off. Others wore shorts and t-shirts. Ordered lobster bisque HOT, but arrived luke-warm. Her blackened salmon was salty. My filet was tender, but the Oscar topping mostly chopped vegetables with room temperature bechamel sauce on the side. Bacon-wrapped asparagus and loaded mash potatoes were good. Took a group of 5 here for a business dinner tonight. The food is a bit on the expensive side but is hands down the best steak place in CR. The brussel sprouts and calamari appetizers were spot on. I had the filet and everyone else in my group had the sirloin. The filet was super tender and cooked to perfection at medium rare. Parmesan risotto was excellent as a side. Drinks were good. My wife and I enjoyed a great dinner at Midtown Reserve. Our server took our cue on a leisurely pace for cocktails, appetizers, etc. We had crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and they were delicious. The mushrooms had a great texture and the crab stuffing was fresh. Fresh seafood in the middle of the continent is a challenge, and the crab met that challenge. We enjoyed the bread basket with a honey butter that had a hint of cinnamon. With the soft bun, it was like eating a cinnamon roll. Definitely not something that you would find at most places. The lobster bisque could use some work. The lobster was fresh (once again, not easily done in the middle of the continent), but the base didn't have enough of a creamy texture and the spices didn't have any depth. I know that they can do better with these high quality ingredients. We both selected fillets and the steaks were a 10 on a 5 point scale. Hands down the best steak I have ever had at home or in high end restaurants in Wichita, Dallas, Houston, Chicago or DC. The sear was 1/4 inch of well done and the rest was medium rare perfection. Just the most tender beef ever and I don't think it is something that I could replicate with the sous vide and a hot grill. We eat steaks, beef and wild game, at least every other week and I have to say that this was a memorable dining experience. I can remember the best soup that I have ever had, the best dessert I have ever had and now the best steak I have ever had. Our dessert was a base of a chocolate brownie on praline crumbles, a scoop of ice cream that was covered with a hard chocolate shell and hot caramel over the top. On the memorable dining experience scale I can think of the bread pudding soufflé at Commander's Palace New Orleans as the top, but this is the second. We have been looking for a high end steak place since we moved here and this is definitely it. read more

The ambiance is lacking which makes sense as it is a small place on the side of a multipurpose building. Service was good but not particularly exceptional. There also was not many drink options including wine. But, when it's over $50 for a filet with no sides, and 5 scallops for almost $40, I would have rather gotten sides and possibly more food somewhere else. Went here for dinner recently with another couple. The calamari was tough, and my husband's steak was over cooked. This is our third time trying this place, but they have a little work to do. My main complaint was this, we took our own nice bottle of wine, fully understanding we would pay a $25 corking fee, that is usual. What is not usual is we were also charged $10 to "rent" our wine glasses. Never have I heard of this, and I've been to much nicer top end restaurants than this. First the good news. Been there twice and the steaks are wonderful. However at $49, no sides, no salads, etc. as everything else is going to add a higher cost. Appetizer, salad, vegetable, perhaps desert will crush a 100 dollars. They have a strange reservation system. We booked a day in advance and were told all times were booked except 5:00 PM so we took it. No one in the restaurant at 5 but by 5:20 another couple showed up. We saw no other dinners until well after 6 PM and there were plenty of empty tables after 6. Wait staff was reasonable but not real attentive. Our check arrived before we had finished our meal. Most of the staff huddled at the front in mutual conversations and little attention to the limited number of customers. Saw one couple come in close to 6 but were turned away as they had no reservation. Strange they would not be seated when there were quite a few empty tables. Guessing that they do not need to be full to make a profit with the price of menu items. read more
