A coworker recently asked for moving company recommendations, and I remembered how great of an experience I had with Ted's in 2017. That prompted me to make sure I had left a review, which looks like I didn't, so here I am. The owner, Ted, is an Air Force veteran, and his discipline really shows in his moving company as well. Everything him and his crew moved for me made it in perfect condition with no dings to the walls or doors. I also really liked that when we made it to my new place, we went through the condo and gave each room a name. So as the crew brought boxes and furniture in, I simply had to tell them which room to put it in. They even helped me assemble the furniture and centered everything. Ted's Moving promises to deliver exceptional service and a pleasurable experience. And that is exactly what Ted and his crew delivered for a recent labor-only job for which I had hired them. I hired Ted and his crew to unload a 22-foot rental truck in the Charlotte area. On move day, as I had requested, Ted texted me 30 minutes in advance that he was en route. Ted and his 2 helpers, Vlad and Jeremy, showed up on time and started work as soon as I parked and opened the door of the truck. Ted brought all the required equipment (dollies, carts and a handtruck + straps for the mattress) and even provided a battery-operated fan for me to use while I waited on the back of the truck (to keep an eye on all of the stuff), where temperatures in the summer can exceed 100 degrees. That fan kept me cool throughout the move. Ted and his helpers worked very hard for 4 hours to get all of the items into the elevator and up into the apartment. They honored my requests and never once complained about any aspect of the job, including an additional 150-foot walk across the parking garage no one knew about. Everyone was professional, friendly, and very easy to work with. I am happy to report that all items made it safely into the apartment. Ted, Vlad and Jeremy made sure to unwrap all of the items, place them where requested, and to put all of the boxes in the specific room marked on each box. They also re-assembled a table and removed all of the tape from the moving blankets. It was a stress-free experience from start to finish. Ted and his team just moved me a couple of weeks ago, long distance. I had a seamless move. Ted and his team were very professional and arrived right on schedule (they said they would be there between 8-9 a.m. and arrived at 8 AM). Ted does each of his move's personally! I had quite a lot of stuff to be moved and they worked quickly and efficiently. Prior to the move, I had been emailing with him for a week or two prior to leading up to my move. One thing I did find odd at first was the fact that Ted does not do any interaction via phone call. All communication is done via an email thread. I was a little hesitant to make a deposit at first since I have never encountered something like this before, so I inquired about it. Ted explained that all communication is done via email, so that everything is in writing and there is no chance of "he said/she said". Plus, he indicated, it wouldn't be respectful to customers who he is working with if he constantly was picking up his phone on their time. I completely respected this and understand why he does this. My husband (relocating from a different location), had a terrible experience with his movers. They were late, moved slowly, and were not prepared at all for the move. In the end, there was several instances in which they attempted to fraudulently charge us for the time they took, materials, and other things. The manner in which Ted communicated with me made the whole experience that much easier and to the point, and there was no confusion about pricing, materials, time or date of move. Everything was perfect! All my items were delivered and furniture set up in my new location. Ted's Moving pricing is also very reasonable and affordable. I'd like to give Ted's Moving at least six stars. My expectations were definitely exceeded. I've used movers several times and these guys are fantastic. NOTE: They move, they don't pack. Moving Details (recommended by Ted's Moving but not attached) is who I used and they were also great. But back to Ted's. They wrapped everything in plastic instead of the usual taped moving blanket approach. They put protective coverings on all the doors and around door trim and on the floor. They were very very careful to insure nothing hit any surface. But that's only half the story. The unpack was even more better! We walked through the house and identified what each room was called and they put up all the door and trim protective covers as well. Then my job was to be at the end of the ramp and direct traffic as things came off the truck. Then they removed all the plastic and placed/assembled all the furniture including putting screws in my queen bed's bed slats when they'd never been there before. Ted said it needed to be done right! They did use moving blankets to protect things on the truck as they packed. And amazingly, as they unpacked, they made sure that not one of those blankets touched the floor/ground. It was very interesting to watch. And they worked hard. They started at 9:30 am and finished around 7 pm. They took about an hour for lunch and near the end of the unpacking, they took about a 15 min break when an ice cream truck came by and Ted bought his team treats. There was no standing around! My only groan was the amount of plastic that had to be taken to the dump. It really hurt my recycling heart. Price was ado good. Between Ted's Moving and Moving details, we spent about 1/2 of a quote we got from another moving company that did both. The only tricky thing about the two company approach (a packing company and a separate moving company) is coordinating dates. Ideally you'd pack and move on contiguous days. Unfortunately I had to wait a week between pack and move. Just something to consider when you make your plans. read more

I had Ted's Moving come out today (Aug 20, 2016) to assist with a move. I was amazed at how they cared for every piece of furniture and appliance we had. From wrapping the door frame with protective coverings to shrink wrapping everything to prevent damage, they were amazing. Execution was flawless and their help made the move so much easier. Outstanding. This past week I had to scramble to find a moving service, and Ted's Moving came through with flying colors--pun intended. Ted is (and many of his employees are) in the Air Force, moving people on nights and weekends. My Truck Buddy was booked and recommended Ted's Moving. Same story with Bookstore Movers, Haul Zing, and Suburban Solutions. Within hours of receiving my email inquiry, Ted himself responded and let me know his one opening (due to a rescheduling of another client): the next evening. Having to shift another appointment, I wasn't able to confirm until 2 PM on the day Ted had indicated he would be available between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. Having heard nightmare stories about other moving companies, I have always stuck to the rule about renting my own truck and hiring labor only (that way, there's no possibility of having your stuff held ransom in somebody else's vehicle, while the cost increases unreasonably). Even on that short notice, Ted made it happen, letting me know that he would arrive at 6:00 PM. He and the other three men in his crew arrived at 6:00 on the dot (sorry, Ted, I mean "1800 hours"). I was stuck in traffic and didn't arrive until 6:20. More on that, later. They all handled the move perfectly, with a positive attitude, dilligent and safe work, no time-wasting, and nothing damaged. At the conclusion of the move, Ted tried to charge me starting at 6:20 PM, regardless of the fact that he and his team had arrived on time, 20 minutes earlier. Needless to say, I insisted on paying him starting at the time we had agreed they would arrive, and I threw in a $50 tip in appreciation for the job well done. Ted even offered to come back the next evening to help re-arrange furniture if I wanted it in a different place. This wasn't necessary, but it was a very considerate offer. Oh, and Ted's price ($100/hour for a 4-man team, timed to the nearest 15 minutes, with a $50 travel/equipment fee) was about half of Great Scott Moving, who also discouraged me from using my own truck. Yeah, thanks anyway. Ted takes a personal check, which is helpful for tax purposes. Highly professional outfit. See for yourself. read more

We were hesitant to hire movers at first because of the cost, but I must say, Ted and his crew are worth EVERY PENNY. Not only are they affordable, but they do excellent work. They think of everything! We were amazed at how efficient they were while also ensuring all of our items were protected. The team is also SO nice!!! I used Ted for a fairly large 2bed/2bath move from Arlington to Ashburn. I took the 5am spot on Saturday and at 4:50am I had three military guys at my house ready to go. I liked that fact that they were all military, all squared away, and every sentence ended with "sir". They were quick, efficient, in shape, and never complained. Ted's communication before and during the move was excellent and he really knows how to move. The other guys described him as "the ultimate Tetras guy" because his packing ability is amazing. He carefully put more stuff in a 26ft truck that I ever thought was possible. The guy is a complete work horse! I was 100% pleased with Ted and the "loading" crew, but there were two mishaps with the "unloading" crew that almost dropped this rating to four stars. One guy walked straight into a wall with a piece of furniture and took a half-dollar size divot out of the wall (plaster and paint required). He just quickly looked at me and said; "my bad". OK, things happen on a move. A short time later, the same guy tilts a dresser back and then tries to slide it forward on the wood floor which left two, 2" gashes on the wood floor. Again, he just looks over at me and says: "my bad". If this was a big moving company I would have had their insurance pay for it, but its a bunch of military guys making some extra money on the weekend. In short, I would use Ted again and I would recommend him to a friend. read more

No need to look anywhere else for a great moving company...Ted's Moving was AMAZING and made my move smooth and easy! I booked them online about a week before my move and within a few hours of making my reservation they called to confirm all the details. The day of the move they showed up on time, prepared and you could tell they were professionals with experience. They came with blankets, items to protect the door, rubber bands and other moving equipment to transport everything safely and efficiently. They came up to my apartment assessed the area and went at it. Within 75 minutes they had moved everything out and strategically loaded the moving truck. We then made the short commute over to the storage facility where they proceeded to unload the truck and strategically fill the storage unit.
