Do use Road Haugs moving company for the following reasons: 1. They sell you a Ruth Chris experience (and price) and deliver a Burger King experience. Save you money and go with Two Men and a Truck. 2. The customer rep Shannon had an attitude like she was doing me a favor for paying them a premium to move me. She was confused about how I was going to pay, and at one point she said I would have to pay on the day of the move. I then told her the salesperson told me they would bill me. So now I am confused and a little frustrated even before the movers showed up. 3. The movers were definitely not Ruth Chris level, I think they saw 5 hours in the estimate and milked it to the 5 hours. When we got to my new place the mover said he was just going to leave all the boxes in the living room, I replied "Well I am glad I spent the time to write what part of the house my boxes should go. They ignored that comment and walked away. The movers had me sign 4 documents including the bill but never left me a copy of the bill. From the beginning to the end of the move this company is not professional and does not deserve to charge their exorbitant rates. read more

This move was actually the fourth time I have used Roadhaugs and I could not be any more pleased. Even though I was a returning customer known to them from the first contact through the last of the delivery, and then the third-party people who came to uncrate some of the special furniture, communication was crystal clear, very positive and informative. Above all else their ability to truly communicate and keep their customers up to date is so helpful and keeps things consistent. Much appreciated. Bruce was extremely helpful getting everything planned and scheduled and Shannon, as always, followed through and kept everything moving along the entire time. There's something special about Roadhaugs that nobody else seems to have and that is they care about their clients and treat them as their own family. Some of the packers that came to pack and load the house were with me on the first move so they knew my things and they knew the routine because I have some unusual and valuable furniture and instruments. The delivery crew that showed up here at the house to drop everything off, totally new to me and I knew none of them when they arrived, but by the time they left, we were all on very friendly terms, and I cannot speak highly enough about them. They were all absolutely magnificent and always are with Roadhaugs. Not only would I recommend them in the highest regard to anyone who has a relocation coming up or even if you need something moved in your home or from one building to another. They move for the Steinway piano gallery in Charlotte, and were recommended to me by another musician and colleague friend of mine who had used them before as well. The fact that they were expert movers, I would even go so far as to say "white glove" movers, makes them even more desirable and trusting ones life possessions and memories with them. Again, I cannot thank Roadhaugs enough and will absolutely use them again should I need to relocate but, at this point, I'm hoping that's not in my future! I will also continue to, and have, recommended them to friends and colleagues who will be moving or who need assistance with their instruments. We were downsizing after 21 years in our large luxury home . Joe and his wonderful team were friendly, helpful, respectful of us and our furniture, dedicated to the move, and were on time to load one day and unload the next. To be clear, it's a shame, but this review is based on the claim for a $150 glass-framed print their team decided to pack / wrap with another print and was damaged during the move. The glass for the print was obviously broken and their compensation to me was for $3.00 to replace it. It was clear, that their team would pack some prints (this being one of them). The customer service up to that point and during the move was solid but as a consumer who has seen a steady decline on customer service over that past few years, Road Haugs is now in that category. Everything from first contact to schedule to being all moved into our new home was seamless. I was moving from an apartment to a house 4 miles away. I did my research and liked that Road Haugs used 3 movers instead of two among other things. Time is money right? My first contact with Dave showed his knowledge, professional demeanor and his willingness to provide me with excellent customer service. He was the only one out of four others (Fox and Hornet being two of the other contenders) that asked me what types of items I'd be moving. That's very important I think when you're trying to get a reasonable estimate of cost so you can compare apples to oranges. I had a few delays on my end because I was coordinating work being done on my new house. Dave answered all my questions, was readily available and made me feel comfortable I had chosen the right moving company. When the team led by Morris, showed up this morning they were a bit late. It gave me more time to start cleaning so I was actually grateful for that. When I saw a 60 year old man, a 25 year old young woman and a 35 ish man I was a bit concerned they might have to go longer. They had a four hour window. Fortunately they only charge for travel time and the time I would end up using them. The estimate was for four hours including travel so 4.5 hours in total and under 800.00. They worked their butts off, got it all done, carefully wrapped all of my heavy antique furniture and worked with me directing things quite well. My painters weren't finished so these movers worked to help me put the furniture safely out of the way. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that. Thank you all very much for relieving me of so much stress during a much anticipated but stressful move. read more

We had a chair delivered and this was the company who brought the chair. They contacted us to let us know when they would arrive. The moving team was very careful with my belongings and courteous. However, they were late twice. This was a long distance move , about a 2 1/2 hour drive and there were two trucks involved,They loaded me one day and delivered the next. Both times they were late. Granted, the move involved many belongings from a full house. I cannot complain about most of the day, but towards around 7:30 PM, they were in a hurry to get out of here because of their drive back. they left lawn furniture and child's outdoor furniture to the side of the house. Boxes were piled in my garage and were not in the rooms where they were supposed to be placed. When I complained to the office the following day, I was told that I had signed off on the paperwork that I did a final inspection. It is ludicrous to think that I would have inspected every single box that they unloaded from the truck and placed into the rooms where they belonged. The onus should not be placed on the customer, but should be the responsibility of the team to follow the instructions and place the items where they belong. I would never use this company again to move. Customer service is abominable. read more

Road Haugs in Indian Trail, NC is who Anthropologie used for "white glove" service. There were two movers and one of the pieces had to go upstairs. The men scratched and gouged the floor around the furniture piece and gouged the wall coming up the stairs. I submitted a claim with pictures and invoices to repair. My son was asked to look over the furniture and did not see anything. He signed off that the property was in good order not thinking or noticing the floor at the time. After the men left he did notice and called immediately. Ryder and Road Haugs are denying the claim because the damage was not noticed and signed off positively. That doesn't change the fact that there was damage however, and now I'm out $1600. I do not recommend this Company, sorry to say. read more

My husband and I moved on the Friday after Thanksgiving this past year (2019). Although the move went off without much of a hitch a few things stood out to me: 1. Shannon, the lady who took our reservation for moving and walked us through everything was a gem and a joy to talk to and work with. I have nothing bad to say about her. 2. The men who came to move us didn't quite move as quickly as I'd hoped they would, and there were a few times we noticed one or two of them messing on their cell phones rather than working. 3. Of everything that they moved and wrapped with care, only ONE thing was damaged. The front door was removed to get the refrigerator out of the door, and before I knew they were doing it I saw that my BRAND new LG fridge was being taken out the door with NO blanket or wrap around it. There are two long scratches on the freezer door now that cannot be repaired. Given that we did NOT spend an extra $300 on the higher insurance plan, we were only refunded around $160 for the damage done. I was extremely displeased with the lack of service and accountability on their part regarding this wanton lack of care with something so expensive, but I really didn't have a leg to stand on after reading the contract. I guess I can only be glad they didn't just toss the thing down the stairs!? In any case. I'd say that this is a decent moving company, but unless you're ok with things being damaged, please spend the extra money on the higher insurance package. read more

"I mean, they got the job done, didn't they?" -Shannon @ RoadHaugs If your ONLY concern is that eventually, at some point in the day, probably 4 hours later than contracted for, you want your stuff moved, this company is for you. Here are the highlights of my experience, details left out so this doesn't turn into a short novel. Movers were promised to arrive between 8-10 am. At noon, the job was beginning. Of the 3 men hired: 1 wasn't feeling well and sat in the truck the entire load time, 1 was either still drunk or had been way too recently to be of much use, and the other was as expected. Sir DrinksTooMuch managed to jam the loading ramp on the vanline's truck I hired to drive my belongings across state lines which added an hour of repair time to my final bill. They finished out the day by leaving my property without hanging my front door that had been removed to facilitate the move. But don't worry, when I contacted the office about how wrong the day had gone, their level of concern was just as impressive. See Shannon's response above. Would highly recommend this company for your moving needs. Had a tight time frame, during Thanksgiving week, and they worked with me to get the job done. Had a big wall unit that needed to be moved from the garage, through front door up a flight of stairs. The original moving company we hired to move from an apartment to a new townhouse wouldn't move it and left it in the garage. Road Haugs sent out Bruce to check out the situation and had such a positive attitude that I felt we might be able to get it out of the garage and into the townhouse. They came that same day, removed the front outside railing, protected the stairs and railing inside with blankets and got the piece up in less then 1/2 hour with no damage to anything. Before they left they put back the outside railing. Very professional team and just really nice guys. This is a wonderful moving company. When I called to schedule an estimate Shannon got someone out to our apartment in a timely manner. Can't say enough about Shannon...she was great! Bruce came to the apartment and gave me a tIme /cost estimate. He was knowledgable, personable, and answered all my questions. We scheduled the move. The day of the move they showed up when they were supposed to and moved quickly to get all our things into the truck. At our new home 20 miles away they again moved quickly and efficiently to get our things in the house with only one e ding to my master door frame. I called Shannon and sent her pucs of the minor damage and she had bruce call me to set up a time to come to the house. He did a great job sanding and painting the frame to get it repaired. Chris and Jeff were great! My Ethan Allen Double Library Bookcase made it, safe and sound, from Waxhaw to Steele Creek without issue and it is heavy as heck. They fully wrapped all the pieces in blankets and protected the glass doors and shelves. They put it in place and made sure it was exactly where I wanted it before they left. They were both friendly, efficient and professional. All in all, it was a very positive experience from scheduling the move right through to the end.
