I could not have been in better hands. Dr. Yien's staff made me feel very welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived for my appointments. His office is clean, warm, and comfortable. Dr. Yien explained my dental problems and quickly put me at ease. He thoroughly described each issue and described the procedures he would utilize to repair the defects. Dr. Yien ensured that I was comfortable and that I experienced no discomfort. And his work was exemplary. It is a wonderful thing to enter a doctor's office with apprehension, and to leave a short time later feeling such great relief! Dr. Yien not only does his job very well, he does it while expressing empathy and compassion. I even went to a dentist who offered botox as a sideline...really! I found Dr. Yein's office over six years ago by chance. I knew right away that I made the right choice. Dr. Yein is not only extremely knowledge, but is honest and will actually give you options with your dental care. He cares about his patients! I am grateful that if I have a dental emergeny....he will take care of it right away. I know...that's unheard of these days. Lea, the office manager is so friendly, caring and always takes the time to work the "kinks" out of making the billing a breeze. Thea, along with his other staff members are so nice, professional, and take the time to accomodat the "regulars" and new patients. She doesn't judge. She takes the time to accommodate. And to make sure that you know before, during, and after what will / is / has happened -- and not just know, but also understand and heartily approve of. Because this isn't just another procedure for her: it's a team effort to keep you healthy. I love how she thinks holistically. I've never had a dentist palpate my neck or jaw to check for proximal causes of dental pain. Or check my blood pressure (and actually discuss what normal BP is for me). Or give me fun, boldly colored, polarized sunglasses to protect my eyes from her bright light. Or discuss my health history, especially with any modicum of interest beyond how it might influence the procedure at hand. She does. :) And you might think a small, independent dental office tucked into the mountains would have heart but not tech. But no, you'd be wrong. I really appreciated the easy-to-put-on blood pressure wrist cuff, tiny dental camera that takes super clear photos, and lovely device that suctions while also holding my mouth open (but not too wide!). The front office folks even text! And not with those "press 1 if" instructions - just genuine conversation to confirm details & get reminders. The assistants and front office folks are just as kind, warm, welcoming, and up-to-date. Like Dr. Chang, they communicate clearly and handle every last detail. After taking X-rays, I was told that two of my previous root canals had failed, were infected, and that I would need extensive treatment, including removing teeth, bone grafts, and four implants--an estimated cost of approximately $16,000. I was devastated because I had always maintained regular dental care with my longtime dentist. Before moving forward with such a life-changing and expensive treatment plan, I scheduled an appointment with my previous dentist for a second opinion. After reviewing new X-rays and examining my teeth, she told me there was absolutely no evidence of infection, my root canals were healthy, and the X-rays taken by this office were not even adequate to diagnose the infection they claimed I had. Needless to say, I was incredibly relieved--but also deeply concerned. Had I not had a trusted dentist to seek a second opinion, I might have undergone unnecessary procedures that would have permanently altered my teeth and cost thousands of dollars. I want you to realize that for over 20 years, we have been patients, first with Dr. Benson and then with Dr. Baron. We have referred others to both of them. Through those years Dr Benson and Dr Baron also had loyal, professionally attentive and friendly office staff, and many were there for years! The crown fell out 2 hours later. Borderline malpractice. He obviously doesn't care about the quality of his work. Not only would I not recommend, but I will actively warn people to avoid him. Multiple dentists I've told have referred to him as a quack. Save your time and money. *Update 1: was reimbursed for this "service" after the crown fell out, which I felt was decent. But after reading this yelp review, in which i stated fairly my experience with this dentist, *he called me* and then re-billed me, claiming that the crown did not properly fit (in which case, he should've said something at the appointment, no?). I have since gone to a dentist in Fremont who had no problem fitting the crown and cementing it properly. At this point, I'm considering contacting a consumer affairs attorney and whichever licensing bureau is relevant. **update 2: I didn't have time to listen to the full voicemail when it was initially received (it was almost 3 minutes long), and I have just discovered that at the end of it Dr. Alderete expressly stated that he would rescind the second billing if I remove my negative yelp review.
