San Gabriel Park is huge, scenic, and with pristine manicured grounds. There is a little something for everyone - playground for children, walking and cycling trails for adults and fishing for adults as well. Quite honestly, I was surprised to see how many folks were fishing in the San Gabriel River. San Gabriel Park is located along the San Gabriel River. Although the San Gabriel Park is quite large, it has the feel of being absolutely serene simultaneously. The park has picnic tables, places to sit along the river and places to hang out if you want to meditate or take in the park's beauty alone. This park is definitely family-centric with playgrounds, open fields, and shaded areas for picnics or self-discovery.

There are several parks along the way where you can sit or have a picnic. There is even a few places that have children's playgrounds. These sites also come with running water and electricity, as a reminder be sure to grab your parking pass on the way in and stick it on your windshield. Pros-I rented campsite #32 and I was beyond satisfied. Steps away from the lake and seeing all the boaters and water skiing going on was awesome. My campsite had its own path down to the lake so it was such easy access. The camp host or volunteers were very nice and would wave while driving by making me feel very much at home. I went during the wk so it was peace and quiet a great get away if you want to just leave the hustle and grind of everyday city life. Cons- when rented a site close to the water keep in mind the wind conditions, shouldn't be an issue if you are coming with an RV but I had a tent and it was extremely windy sometimes blowing my belonging off the pavilion table. No question about it I will be returning again soon!

Those are narrow and the grass is high in those sections so keep that in mind. There are some nice canopy areas with trees that go over the path providing shade. This seems like a park you'd go early in the morning to walk. Parking was scarce. We found a tiny lot near the entrance so be aware. The river is nice and you're sure to see some turtles and birds here.

I sought this place out because it has a number of nice hiking trails. There's even a look trail that will let you go close to five miles without having to turn back. While it looks like the trail dead ends at a fence, if you continue climbing the hill you'll see that the trail continues on to the left about halfway up. Tip: The loop trail is actually a figure eight; not only that but the scenery is very pleasant; there's even cliffs and a small cave :-) The trails here go through an Austin City Park, but the land is actually owned by an HOA so please be respectful and take your trash and dog poop out with you leave.

Inside the park is a huge parking lot making it great for housing Hutto residents for big events like Fourth of July, but there's also a large pond (or two large ponds) which are usually well stocked with fish, an amphitheater that is used for park events though sadly Brushy Creek Amphitheater is not currently booking events, and plenty of other space for roaming. The gazebo area is very nice and gives you beautiful access to Brushy Creek itself. There's not much pathways for running though, so I don't recommend this place for working out I do think this place will become less populated once Fritz Park is completed as that park is going to be fantastic, but until then, this is a great spot for Hutto. RIYL: A big ol' park.

This is a small park located in the Lakeline Ranch subdivision. It is perhaps an acre or more in…read moresize with few amenities. Off to the side is a play area with some swings and even a share a book kiosk. At the center of a park is a paved sidewalk flanked by four benches with bushes and crêpe myrtles at the center. Otherwise, the property consists entirely of open green space and cedar trees. It's basically just a nice open space that enhances the neighborhood's overall value.

We visited over the weekend for the grand reopening of Joanne Land Playground and it is truly…read moreamazing. It has so many wonderful obstacles and slides for the children to enjoy. I don't want to upload pics due to children are present but please go check it out because you won't be disappointed. The main stage is nice and there is a pavilion for you to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere while reading a book or just taking a moment to chill. I always enjoy coming here to cycle or walk but really appreciate the playground upgrade for the children.

Yes you can pull it apart and say no water feature or water access but after just a ten minute drive from my home it was a treat to be in the manicured open spaces !!! Now we know there are porcupines there and they can be seen in the trees we will make it a challenge like seeing a moose in Maine or a koala in Australia . When we asked to purchase a park pass she directed us to park and enter the office. We parked and met with another kind employee who explained that a park pass would allow us entry to various other WILCO parks - but NOT Garey Park! So don't ask. Haha The pass will also get you certain discounts at other WILCO parks. After paying for our pass we went ahead and ventured to the first trail we could find. I will say this is a beautiful area! Nice, clean, and a fairly easy walk. Don't forget you water though. We ran into an older woman who was walking with a friend - they didn't have enough water. There are plenty of trails to walk but I will say the maps are not the best. If the park would add a teeny little sticker that said "you are here" it would be a load of help. Also, some of the markers are a little confusing. The park did add QR codes to scan so that you could pull a map up on your phone but it takes some time considering it doesn't pin your location. All in all, excited to come back to see what else the park has in store for us. It has great potential. Just need to see more of it. (And fix the maps!... might just be a 'me' problem though.)
