My go-to store for cheap underwear. Most of the floor stock people don't speak English (well or otherwise), a lot of things have a weird musky imported odor, and there's a lot of low quality clothes/shoes/houseware. But sometimes you find a gem and it's exactly what you were looking for. The housewares section upstairs actually has some useful stuff, but most things are overpriced for the quality you're getting. Very big and busy discount store on 18th avenue. Can get messy at times because of it's size but they have a great variety of cheap everyday items. Don't expect a quiet easy shopping expereince, and if you can get past that you will get your product at a low price. They have some brand name items and oddball, off brand stuff that makes the store fun to shop. Customer service is hit and miss, it all depends on who you ask. You can probably predict their answer to your question just by looking at them, so they lose a star for that, otherwise look around and have fun! read more

My mother is a longtime customer of Telco and has been to several of its locations- this store is the only one where she consistently has negative experiences. There is no sign that there is no available elevator, even for senior citizens with disabilities, and my mother was not able to carry her merchandise down the staircase. No staff member offered assistance. Then, at the register, items that were clearly marked as being 25% off in multiple areas (including the front window) were ringing up full price or 20% off. When my mother told the cashier that the items were supposed to be 25% off, she called her manager, who insisted that the items were 20% off. When my mother corrected them again, the manager then went to look, and confirmed after having my mother wait several minutes, that my mother had indeed been correct. There was no apology, but instead another wait to override, even though the correct percentage went through. In this particular Telco, the customer is always wrong. This is not a good way to do business. read more

Telco- where have you been all my life? Seriously, I need to come to Bensonhurst more often because of the discount clothing shopping. They have cute dresses, tops, workout clothes, and everything in between for less... much less. They have a decent shoe section as well. The upstairs is filled with home decor and bath items. They have discounted kitchen appliances and dish sets. I also saw a lot of bed sheets and bathroom rugs for decent prices. They have the best odds and ends here I would definitely come back if I had more time. I didn't end up getting anything because I was in a rush. One of the few underrecognized gems of 18th Ave N line, which has grown so much in the last decade but continues to retain its historic Italian presence. My mother who moved from the city misses this place the most. Fortunately this store is still the same as I remember it from my childhood, albeit a little more interesting now that I have a frame of reference! You can think of it as a cozier version of Burlington's. There are many discounted brand name clothes here; the ones I've gotten here are somehow much nicer than the ones I've gotten directly from the brand. This might be due to the meticulous selection process that items coming in here must go through, with the business's model and absence of space to really become another Marshall's/TJMaxx or Target. Which is fine with me - I prefer this handpicked variety, and there are still so many options to choose from, and restocking so frequently, that I never feel lacking. I really like the velvet coat hangers for the price, the winter coat selection, the shoes that I can comfortably wear to interviews and work. This is definitely a popular shopping area on 18th ave. when I was young I remember making my long treks to this area from my part of bensonhurst near 86th street to this 60ish street area (hey thats long for a kid!) to shop for random goodies. This place, you never know what they will have from good brand names to crazy funky things you wont find in a normal store (simpsons boxers! homers face all over my tush, who wouldnt like that) I remember coming home from the city after i bought what i thought was a cute shirt, then i stopped by this place and found a cute shirt for two bucks! and it totally trumped on the cuteness. and sometimes youll find decent knock offs on your fave things, like vans slip ons. I love Telco. They have practically everything and they are so cheap. If I need a pair of knockaround jeans, cheap boxers, socks, shirts etc I come here. The upstairs has great household items, as an amateur cook I love all the cooking supplies they have, recently they had the cool scrub buddy sponge from Shark Tank for only 2 bucks each. When I first moved to Bensonhurst a few years back I got all my bathroom and kitchen supplies here. Also dont sleep on their DVD rack, I recently got the entire old Superfriends series (you know the one wth the Legion of Doom and the Wonder Twins) for 10 bucks. Sure the place is a bit haphazard with the racks forming a maze but I think thats part of the discount fun! read more

Normally very good store and merchandise. Bought package of 6 pair mens boxer briefs for ten bucks. Brand name "michael adams". Do not buy this brand. This is funny, they have no flap. Lol. I rarely give review on yelp and this lady has very rude attitude towards customer! She doesn't let customer touch or check out the item on the shelf and when I asked this lady to show me the item on the shelf instead, she refused! Also, there isn't any sign in the store saying no pets allowed in the store, I bought my dog with me and My mom was holding him in her hand, but somehow my dog tail touch her hand when she walked passed by my mom, she demanded my mom to apology to her! Their home items upstairs are a great deal, but I realized why their prices on clothing and other fabric materials are so cheap: BED BUGS. I am a hygienic person, and don't shop at thrift stores because of bed bugs. Well, I purchased a few items from Telco, and I didn't even wear them, and got a few bed bug bites from handling them. I know it is bed bugs because of the bites and because I saw a small one. I am so upset because I know bed bug infestations can be hard to beat. Until there comes a rating like restaurants have for clothing stores regarding bedbugs, please shop at more well known stores that has a budget to treat their stores annually. Fabric items from 99 cent and other discount stores have the same issue. You can purchase even nicer items for just $5 - $10 more from Mandees, Forever 21 or H & M or at outlets for $20 - $50 more, but that will last you 3 years longer than cheaper items. I will seriously restrict purchases to non-fabric home items to avoid any bed bugs. Even keeping them in sealed bags as I usually do until I launder didn't help. read more

Picture this - you have this pair of wedge sandals that you LOVE and they are about 4 years old and are starting to bite the dust so all summer long you have been on the lookout for a new, similar, equally comfortable-yet-stylish pair of sandals. Then, one unassuming evening you have to buy a new pair of sheets (hint to party hosts - if you're hosting a brunch, and the tomato juice runs out do not allow your guests to then drink straight shmirnoff...no matter how much they may want to. Unless you want to have to buy new sheets.) and you step into a store like Telco with sandals no where near the top of your mind and there BEHOLD atop a stand that says $5 (yes, Five Dollars) sits the absolutely perfect pair of black wedge sandals...as though they were just waiting to fill the shoes (ouch, that hurts even me) of your beloved old pair, and not a day too soon for the old sandals have lost half of the footbed...and are torn at the strap... Oh, and next to the sandals is a totally cute pair of black heels that were ALSO $5 and also walked the line between comfy and cute and also came home with me and now I want it to be fall so I have an excuse to wear them. and yes, I bought some new sheets too. mission accomplished. They were $10. total bill= $20.98 and so much happiness achieved for such a small sum. read more

a great place to go if you are looking cheap, inexpensive every day items. during the holidays they have a great selections of ornaments and decorations for a fraction of the cost. they have everyday household items much cheaper than anywhere else and its good quality. Telco is defiantly the place to go to for low budget shopping. It has a variety of clothing that range from things like underwear to jeans. I personally shop here for the socks and underwear. Other products of theirs don't interest me as much. Most of the workers are foreign with heavy accents so you might not get the help you might be looking for. The clothes their are not top notch but worth the cheap money you are paying for. If you spend some times in the store I can assure you that you will eventually find something that interests you that is worth buying. when in bensonhurst on 18th st it's a must to visit telco for cheap clothing, housewares , personal items and much more. the times and people have change as this once italian hood is now mostly china and who enjoy finding bargains like the rest of us. the quality of clothing and accessories may not be grade a but for the prices you really can't complain much . the main level is clothing , shoes , etc and the upper level which is via the steps has plenty of stuff for the home as i grabbed a few lamps and picture frames for the crib. i usually pick up some tube socks which last as long as you would expect for 3 bucks for 5 pairs and always look around the footware section as you can score some decent brand sneakers at frugal prices . the folks who work here are limited in the verbal skills department but they do keep it place neat and organized . if you find yourself in bensonhurst i would recommend a visit to telco discounts on 18th ave . read more

The manager was very rude and insulting. She insulted me by talking about me as if I wasn't there. Very nasty and very poor customer service skills. Her name was Lana. I usually shop at Telco for the white knee hi's (3in pack for $0.99.) Comes in handy when you work in the nursing field and daily you must wear a clean fresh new pair and at the end of my shift in the garbage they go. I also like their upstairs dept for household items many nice things for the home. The nice young gentle man who is at the entrance of the door he is so cool and you always find him chatting with Telco's customers and he is always smiling and greeting Telco's customers very nice guy. Telco should feel privilege to have him working there you can tell customers love him. As for the cashiers they need to not chat so much among each other when ringing up customers. They should concentrate more on the customers not chat chat with each other and they need to greet the customer and say "Thank you" when giving the customers the receipt at end of the transactions most of them do not even say a simple "Thank you". I have myself said "Hello" when I start to put my things on counter and no respond because the cashiers are too busy yapping among each other and at the end no "Thank you". Ladies a little more customer service towards your customers thats what pays your salaries. As for the lady who I believe is the manager. All I can say is "Lord have mercy", its a department store not a beauty pageant. She should at least smile and greet the customers making sure all is going smoothly. Some people tend to forget the customer is what keeps a store going and salaries paid. The nice gentleman at the door is the one that says "Thank you" and have a nice day. The cashiers and the manager can learn from him. I am sure Telco's customers look forward to his awesome personality he has. This is another emotional place for me. I've spent many hours of my childhood going here to shop with my mother, my aunts, and my grandmother, of blessed memory. Lots of family presents were bought and exchanged here, over the years, and it is a throwback to the old 18th Avenue, for me, when you had Trunzo's on the next block, and before all the banks, frozen yogurt shops, and Chinese markets. They used to be on the next block, and the current location used to be Berta 67, which had very beautiful and unique items for the home, kitchen, and bathroom. Berta's is completely gone from Brooklyn now, sadly, as the clientele who shopped there passed on. But Telco seems to have adapted to the new immigrants, as most workers don't speak ANY English whatsoever, and the selection and quality isn't as good as it once was. Nonetheless, it's a good place to pick up cheap items for the home. I wouldn't trust most of the clothing sold here; I'd be afraid they either pirated it off trucks or got it off cadavers. I definitely enjoy shopping upstairs in the household section, even if only to browse. It makes a good activity on a boring Bensonhurst afternoon. read more
