Are you a bargain hunter? I've got the place for you! You can find a lot of things here on sale. It is a wholesale dealer that sells something that did not sell well in other stores at a nice discount. Some of the items are imperfect products. I love to go in here and walk around for an hour seeing what "treasures" I can find. They have parking lot. One thing to note another reviewer mentioned: The ceilings are leaky. so look up before buying ‍ steer clear of buckets if you can get past these things and have it not bother you in favor of a deal, it's an ok store. It's huge! Some of my best things purchased in here tend to be home decor items personally. They sell 1$ ornaments for the holidays. My favorites are my curtains for my apartment. I also love that they have 5-6$ throw pillows. I constantly come around to replace bathroom rugs and shower curtains and this is the best place to find things that are of good quality on a deal. Think of the things you 100% need but like don't want to spend a fortune on. NWL has your back there. They have a large section of cleaning products which sells things like 5$ Lysol spray and stuff you prob already buy but pay a lot more for. Reminds me of like pergament or even Bobby's. The service is ok you have to be mindful when you are ringing items up that they won't overcharge you - I'm sure they don't intend to but sometimes there are so many items the prices on the tags aren't always updated correctly. read more

They do not accept gift cards a lot of the electronic stuff is factory returns or refurbished look at the small print. Cashiers are rude too. A lot of the stock workers do not speak english takes you almost an hour to find someone who speaks English and even then they are rude like you interrupted them. read more

As much as I love liquidation wholesalers, National Wholesale Liquidators was so stuffy and my eyes were so dry and irritated. Nonetheless, I couldn't help staying and exploring their large selection of clothes, snacks, appliances, and other goodies. They sell affordable items and name brand products for less. The products are often items that were returned or unable to be sold, but still function-able and close to brand new. Something to watch out for is their snacks and food. Most times the product is expired or close to expired, but if you don't care about expiration dates, the prices are worth the amount you're getting. Other than the store being stuffy and irritating my eyes, I hate the parking they have. I genuinely had a hard time parking and leaving the parking spot since there the parking spots are diagonal and I had to enter the spot the opposite way of the curb spacing. tl;dr - stuffy store, free parking but hard to get into a spot if you enter the opposite way of the diagonal spot, food may be expired, lots of options and affordable items. read more

I purchased a jar of chopped garlic from this store. While preparing my food, I looked into the top for the jar and found dead bugs. I was horrified and threw away the meal that I was preparing. This is gross and I am confused. How did bugs get into a sealed jar ? Please stay far away from this store. I wish I could give them 0 stars ! read more

I am wearing an irregular shirt I bought here on the way to a job interview. A weird story, a weird interview, a weird store, a weird shirt. I love the liquidated inventory and the pricing is random enough that there is a sense of discovering treasure. I just told this story after getting a compliment on this shirt ten minutes ago. I might have paid as much as $12 for it, but some of the clothes were less - I know I also bought something for $4 and another for $6. whichever it was, I am pleased with my experience and would definitely shoo here again if I wasn't looking for something specific. read more

Given that the entire city is infested, it is not unexpected for rodents to be seen on occasion in NYC stores. Sadly, this store is not taking any measures to fight the infestation. It's one thing to see a mouse on the floor, it's another if they are "occupying" the store shelves. I reached for a jar of strawberry preserves and a nasty mouse/rat jumped from the back of the shelf and somehow bounced right on the shelf above. I don't even know how it did that. They say you can't go home again, but sometimes you can step a few years into the past. Out by where I live in New Jersey, the "National Wholesale Liquidators" chain used to be one of my go to places for...well a really odd variety of things. Sometimes it was housewares, other times it was a rug, yet another time it would be for obscure toys on clearance. When you needed something for a reasonable price, but weren't sure where to go, stopping there was generally not a bad call as a first stop. However, several years ago, the two main NWL's that I frequented both closed. I thought the chain was gone as I stopped seeing their fliers as well. Fast forward to a month ago and my mother talked about this great store she wanted to visit to pick up some type of lotion that she couldn't find anywhere else. I offered a "Pshaw" to that and promptly visited several Duane Reades and a mom and pop pharmacy thinking "How rare could this be? It's a major brand name?" Turns out the specific lotion she wanted could only be found at...you guessed it...National Wholesale Liquidators! Off the beaten path in Brooklyn, this NWL looks like it has been around for quite some time. The signage is old and worn and the interior looks like it was fashionable some time around the Nixon era. If you think that's a criticism, don't. That's actually part of the charm of this store. Oddly arranged shelves, sometimes illogical arrangement of items, a random "As Seen on TV" section in the middle of the store and a cooler completely dedicated to Blue Bunny ice cream products. Yes, this was the NWL I remembered and stepping into this store was like stepping back in time. The prices here were quite reasonable and in some cases much cheaper than what you'd find in pharmacies or a Target. Their selection is a bit chaotic, but they do carry plenty of brand name items (along with some generics). This includes everything from peanuts to tissue. Still, it's an interesting shopping experience if stores like this were part of your shopping experience as a kid or young adult. Side note: there is a cat that prowls the premesis keeping it vermin free. Tread lightly and you may spot him before he dashes away! read more

I agree that NWL is like a 99 cent store on steroids. Tons of cheap but useful stuff, including electronics, bedding, cleaning supplies, cooking supplies, snacks, clothes, automotive, tools/hardware, furniture, back to school stationery, and much more. The quality isn't always the greatest (definitely do some QA first), but that's what happens when almost the entire store's stock is imported from China. I'd like to particularly call out their auto parts section as well as their picture frames and stationery. You'll find most of what you want if it falls within those three departments. Moving into a dorm or into a new apartment? Definitely stop by NWL before going to Target or something similar, as you'll probably find a few gems you wouldn't find elsewhere. There is clothing, food and hardware sections. This place is in my nightmares this is a place that keeps me I prisoned while my wife strolls each and every nook and crevice. The long ass lines make me want to freak out but I calmly just patiently wait and imagine the Walking Dead devour the checkout lady. As I become part off a human traffic jam I envision speeding up the Westside Highway on my motorcycle while insisting we do not buy anything edible even though pickled eggs sounds delicious. read more

*this place is so huge you could spend hours here if you browse through every aisle. *the prices are so cheap and tempting that your impulsive buying skills might skyrocket and you'll go home with bags of stuff you did not intend to buy originally. *some of my favorite purchases from this store includes CDs, CD and DVD holders, some books, cheap buys at the beauty/makeup section, and some household stuff. The prices on most of the stuff in the beauty/makeup section are not really discounted compared to other stores, and a lot of the household items are not very high in quality (thin mugs and plates). You really have to dig through to find the hidden gems! read more

Anyways, I bought a bunch of odds and ends like food, shoes, clothing, and home goods. I can't wait to see how long they last and depending on that I will probably change my rating. Anyways, I still treasure this place because it is like a upscale Bergament. If you've been to Bergament then you'd know what I'm talking about. I bought ear phones here and I'm waiting to see how long that lasts. The ear phones sound good and they cost half the price of what I would normally pay. Open on Christmas. I feel like the previous statement could potentially stand alone as the entire review, but I suppose I'll add a bit more color. National Wholesale Liquidators, is exactly what its name suggests. It is a huge discount emporium that houses everything - perfume, clothing, electronics, household items - that you can imagine (and some things you can't) at closeout prices. One thing to remember that these are liquidated items - varying in age, and mostly offered at a discount because they didn't sell that well at retail. You really can spend hours in here if you do not arrive prepared with a list of things that you need to buy. Case in point, I wandered in thinking I can spare 30 mins looking for random home goods I might like to spruce up the lonely headquarters. What happened? I wound up staying for 2+ hours and left with 3 big bags of crap. And by crap I mean chips and mugs. To be fair, my intentions were to purchase a watering can, which surprisingly they do not have. I also were eyeing at some flower pots but due to my mode of transportation (legs, big strong ones I assure you) I had to forgo the extra load of items because I can only carry so much with my arms (equally as chunky as them aforementioned legs). A bit of a downgrade for NAT LIQ based on this weekend as there were only two registers open and one express register. Unfortunately a biker type woman was buying her entire 2013 wardrobe and it looked like that would be at least an hour -with some items not ticketed... The other regular register had 10 people lined up. Headed to express -which wasn't at all express as a patron who had far more than 10 items was there. No effort was made to open any new registers despite plenty of staff wandering aimlessly through the store. Still great prices though! read more

It's no frills cheap shopping here. I mean I would never ever come here to get any food products, but if garbage bags and paper towels and plastic cups are what you need then this place has the best prices by far. We're renovating our home and I drop by here almost every other day to pick up all things necessary (like brooms, rope, garbage cans, etc). It's a big warehouse kind of space that really does sell everything from home supplies, beauty products, food items, electronics, clothing and furniture all under one roof. A sort of one stop shop. THe parking lot is huge and makes it easy for you to run and out without worrying about where to leave your car. read more

How many times can they re invent themselves. I was at this place a while ago when it was closing down and the media had reported it went bankrupt a 2nd time - I thought oh wow, now it's surely gone. Over many years I have shopped here and I really thought I was getting good value for my dollar. TO my surprise, they are back. So I figured I'd go over there and check out the place. Now I was there like I said above when they were shutting down, when all the racks and other store furniture was for sale and the place was completely empty. When I got there today, I found what appeared to the the exact same store back in business, maybe with new owners. But it appeared almost as though they put all the merchandise in storage, including the store racks and other store furniture and just brought it all back and placed it all exactly in the same places in the same manner as before. When strolling down the food aisles, I sensed all that merchandise was hidden somewhere and brought back ... It all looked kind of dirty, lots of dust on the can tops and the labels on much of the food items seemed weathered. They moved the fruit and vegetable section to the back of the store now. In all the years shopping in this store I have never bought a fruit or vegetable from this place. It all looks terrible and the prices are not great. For .15 centers more for green peppers, I could have primo ones from the supermarket and greater ones for less money at a good fruit market. Looks like the eye glass people are back and the jewelry guy too. What I did notice is that prices are a bit higher than before. Though you can still get very good buys here, know this time around, it's all a bit more. But the store looks more like a dirty dump after this grand re opening because they didn't even paint the place before dumping all the merchandise on the shelves, so the place has that dirty dingy look and feel from them emptying it just a few weeks ago or so and not re freshening the place with a good wash down and a cost of paint. It did seem that they painted new yellow lines in the parking lot! I went into the furniture / bedding / carpet store across the street and that too looked as though it had actually never shut down, but again, I noticed the prices on items I look at there and some times buy were up by a few bucks. I ten to buy single piece carpet mats here and remnants, and these clearly increased in price. I can do better with a carpet runner at Ikea and it will be fresh and clean. I used to come here all the time for discounted brand name products, however lately they seem to be more expensive than usual. The produce out front is terrible, either overpriced or completely rotten. They recently remodeled the inside, eliminating the liquor store and expanding the produce section to indoors. The produce inside was much better and more reasonably priced than other supermarkets nearby. Their overall selection is ok, but I only come here now if I'm in a pinch. VHS box sets for 99 cents, and huge area rugs for next to nothing. Where have you been all my life?

The fake designer glasses with the fake optician in the front, shoulda been my clue to exit stage left! Went in here a few days ago to purchase some household goods. Now years ago this place was like the best, because everything you wanted was under one roof and at bargain basement prices. Okay fine.... Fast forward 10-15 years, "hello 99 cents store, how are you?" The world got introduced to the .99 cents store. Where people thought this store was cheap, they started going to the 99 cents store and saw they could do much better when it came to saving money. I come in and the clue that I should have exited stage left was the guy and girl in the front with the huge display of designer frames. And the "optician". This case was fully loaded with every designer known to man and also had "exclusive" frames that are hard to find. Upon closer inspective of the "designer frames". Straight fugazy! Fake! Ratched! Chanel frames had (MaDe iN itaLy), etched into the insides. Letters was put together like that. What is this a ransome note! No! Need I say more?!?! Toothpaste was 2.99 and there was boxes and boxes of it. Palmolive dish detergent was 2.89 for a small one. You can get these items from the pharmacy on sale for less. The floor is in serious need of repair and went to the section with bathroom rugs and it was old rugs, full of dust and went for $15.00 or more when you can get the same thing at Target. The food section was atrocious! Is this a frozen pizza or a tv dinner? I wasnt going to purchase any food stuffs from here but since this area.was near the register you can't help but see it. The juice boxes looks like it was opened and like someone drank out it. This place has fallen downhill. The place is cheap and usually has parking. Be sure to look at expiration dates though. The place is dirty and often times no one there cares enough to clean up a mess if there's one in an aisle, which happens often. Barely anyone working there even knows where products are so good luck with that. Came in this time to find a new food chopper. They displayed a product that I would have taken but it wasn't actually in stock. The people at the registers are almost always slow and look like they'd rather be anywhere else. I sorely miss this place since moving to Astoria, and the closest one is too far to provide any happiness into my life. The furniture store at NWL was a nightmare! They charge $120 for delivery n then say its a private co. Lie! Once they have yr $ they take forever to deliver. Furniture didnt come until a month and a half later after being told it would take 3 days! Rasheed lies so much ,and then in the end has 2 guys from store come n deliver it n the 2 guys left the 2 boxes of furniture in lobby ! I had to call Rasheed back for him to tell them to come back n bring upstairs! They are lazy n i have never experienced any delivery like this on my life! The customer service could not accept my return for cash refund of the noisy fan with hassles telling me the fan is seasonal product, but their return policy shows nothing about unacceptable policy for seasonal product in their receipt. I do not know whether the lady was lazy to accept my return or this is really their management or owner's policy. I gave 4 stars for the selection, you would be hard pressed not to find what you are looking for here. Organization can use an upgrade but other than that this place is fine. I only saw one person who wasn't at a register working so if your in a rush and need to find something I'm not sure just how much help you will get. I did walk the entire store, every isle and corner. Some things are a steal here and the rest if it is the same price in other places. As long as you don't expect this to be Walmart or Target you'll be fine. This would be a great place to find cheap party supplies, cups, plates etc. read more
