This is one of the older parks in Arizona but I thought it was pretty well laid out. We came to see the SF Giants play here for spring training last month. There were a very few select rows that had shade during this early afternoon game but we were thankfully one of them. The ball park itself is pretty easy to get in and out of. We were dropped off but parking seemed to be confusing for a lot of folks....... Another thing that they could improve is widening their main corridor aisles. There are a LOT of people that pay to stand behind the line in the main aisle for the game and it makes it hard to get through. Also, their beer stands only take cash, which is something I haven't seen for quite some time. read more

I've been to several spring training stadiums and this is my least favorite. The concourses are small and crowded, making it difficult to walk around. The space between the rows of seats felt smaller than usual. But the worst was the handicap access. The parking attendants could not direct us to handicap parking. The front of the stadium has a ton of stairs and the ramp is off to the side. I will say I thought the food was good and I appreciated several vegetarian options. But my family would not attend a game at this stadium again. There are other stadiums in the area that provide a much better experience. read more

This is my FAVORITE place to see Spring Training! I love how the mountain is right there, it's easily accessible from the I-10, and there is plenty of seating- from the expensive up close & personal seats, to box seats, to large expanses of grass! I think they have a great selection of food and drink and I've never waited in any long lines. Wish I could give them 5 stars, but unfortunately parking is a nightmare. Allow extra time & bring cash for the pedi-cabs cause chances are, you'll have to park so far away that you'll want one of these guys to take you to & from the stadium. read more

This is a nice spring training venue but there's only half the outfield with lawn... Which sucks. Tickets can get up to $21 for the cheapest available on seats if you wait until last minute. Best way to save money is to buy your tickets at the ticket box in advance to avoid Internet fees. The food and atmosphere in the stadium are subpar compared to almost every other Stadium except for the Oakland athletics (the worst). Like all spring-training stadiums just buy the cheapest ticket available and sit anywhere you want. Stadium is in Tempe which is nice that you don't have to drive through somewhere like Goodyear surprise or Peoria. Also don't get your tickets online. Use box office at beginning of season to obtain tix WITHOUT tax, service charges (lame), delivery charges (what the hell is that) and to avoid the worst charge of all... FLEX PRICING. This is when they rip you off for tix to big games and it gets more expensive the longer you wait. Don't make this mistake. read more

Angels spring training at Diablo was beyond amazing! Did a turn around mid week from LA & it was so worth the drive. My seats were amazing, behind home plate about 6 rows up. I had a perfect view of the team. Allowed me the opportunity to capture my Angels in action with my camera. Excellent shots of Mike Scioscia (my longtime favorite). It was fantabulous being in close proximity to him. Looking forward to return visit next year. The venue doesn't have a bad seat in it. Great food & beverages available. This place is a far cry from most modern Spring Training stadiums in the Cactus League. On the plus side, you are close to the action, and that's part of the allure of going to Spring Training games. You can get draft beer for either $4 or $8, peanuts for $4, and water for $4. (Though the latter two can be had outside the park for even less.) Yes, there is parking onsite for some of the patrons, others must park in overflow lots blocks away and hoof it in. Though, that's probably a better alternative than the absolute clusterf*ck getting out after the game from the onsite lots. Seating is about half stadium seats with backs and armrests; and about half the seats are cheap, metal-bench bleacher seats (and about as comfortable as sitting on a rock for three hours). Not to mention that virtually all of the seats are in the blazing hot sun until later in the game (but there's really only shade for those seats behind home plate). And when it's in the 90s, and there's no wind, it can get pretty brutal sitting in the seats - which would actually more suitable for frying eggs on. Fortunately, the concourse from third base to right field is shaded, but there's not enough room for all the scores of people wanting to stand in the shade behind the green line. So if you want to stand in the concourse on a hot day, you'll get to play the part of a sardine (packed with all the other sardines) to a tee. Somewhat strangely, one of two novelty stores is outside the park (see pic) with portable toilets. They stamp your hand to get back into the park if you use the toilets or visit the store. Overall, it is Spring Training, and it's hard to screw that up, but what the Angels really need to do to upgrade this place is eighty-six those rock-hard bleacher bench seats and widen those concourses like a normal baseball park with some elbow room. I really like this ball-park. Every year for spring training, my boss takes us out to a weekday game (lawn seats) and we do a bit of tail-gating and a bit of game-watching. This place has always had sufficient parking (or we've come early enough) for us to tail-gate in the stadium parking area (W or E lot) and then enjoy the game. The price point for the goodies at the park are, as expected, a bit high.. but I got a 24oz of beer for 9 bux... steep, but afterall, it WAS 24oz and it was all I needed. Our lawn seats were perfect, Left Field and the grass was on steroids: super soft, lush green, and beautifully maintained.. I don't need a blankie to sit on this grass because it's so soft and cushy. The crowd is always nice for these Spring Training mid-week games.. fun, but not crazy and a good mix of old folks and young folks. The bathrooms are amazingly clean and well kept and, overall, the facility itself is well maintained and makes the experience more enjoyable. read more

My 2016 tour of the Cactus League ends here at the 10th and final stadium. Welcome to the king of paradoxes! Tempe's Diablo Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim... I'm just gonna refer to them as the Angels, and point out that Diablo is Spanish for devil. Enough said. Originally built in the late 60's, this is the oldest stadium in the Cactus League by a mile! And the Angels have been training here for over 20 of those years. I've driven by this stadium thousands of times. This was my first visit and it was a gorgeous day. Gotta love Arizona! This place has character! The moment you walk through the ticketing gate, you are in the stadium and you almost feel like you're on the field. Clearly the topography plays an important role in the siting here. Otherwise, you wouldn't have such a grand stair up to the entrance, or the ramps, or the buttes beyond left field. For such an old ball park, the wide, open concourse is perfect! You can stroll to your seat, grab a bite to eat, and watch the action the whole time. The concourse isn't a full 360 degree around the park (and the only one in the Cactus League), but I don't mind this. The stadium seats less than 10,000 and it feels intimate. Compare that with Scottsdale's attempt to cram in an extra 2,000 seats without parking. Getting to Diablo Stadium is super easy off the 143 from I-10. Tempe police officers did a great job directing vehicles in and out. I parked in the east lot for $5. If you're like me, and you want to sit on the lawn, shoot for this lot. There is one gate they open after the game and it's a super short walk back to your vehicle, while everyone else funnels out of the stadium. The lawn is limited to a small area down the third base line and wraps around left field, eventually stopping at center field. Works for me! The interstate backdrop beyond the right field fence means you are closer to the freeway in this stadium than any other. It didn't bother me, although it does contribute some ambient background noise that fights the PA system. The freeway probably makes the Angels feel at home. I was happy to see Four Peaks and the Tempe Tap Room represented here. Food wise, it's just typical ball park fare. Which is exactly what I would expect in So Cal. What I didn't expect, was that the game would end in a draw. After only nine innings... Not sure why they didn't play the 10th. Regardless, the Indians and the Angels left it at 1-1. It's a fitting end to my tour in 2016, seeing how it started in Goodyear, also watching the Indians play. Despite the renovations in 2005, this stadium feels way behind the curve in terms of what everyone else is playing in. That said, it wouldn't take much to bring it up to speed. Remove the bleachers on the first base line and add some lawn seating to balance the park; Add some shade off the press box for those in the seats; Add a second floor deck above the concession stands behind the third base line; Move the home teams bull pen from beyond right field and put it back on the field for the fans to see. Hey, if the visitors can warm up near the left field foul pole, so should home. Oh, and it's time for a new sound system. These aren't complaints. Just suggestions to take what feels like the Fenway Park of the Cactus League, and extend its lease on life, without ruining it's ambiance. This is a fun little park that deserves to sell out every game. Stop complaining about the drive to Camelback Ranch and go to Tempe! read more

This stadium has been around for a long time, but it's a great stadium tucked away in Tempe. It's a smaller stadium when compared to some of the new ones, but it's got a great, intimate feel to it. The fans here are hardcore about the L.A. Angels of Anaheim, and they are a blast to be around. People come here to watch baseball and have a great time. The food is pretty good, but I didn't see any Southern Cali inspired menu items or beer. They do have some great beers, including a personal favorite of mine - Mirror Pond. The lawn is small here, and there aren't a lot of available seats out there. The stadium is always crowded, so give yourself extra time to get food, a good beer or use the rest room. Parking is not as complicated as the wonderful people in the orange shirts would have you think. Drive past the street the stadium is on, and you can park on a couple different side streets within the industrial complex for free. You'll walk a block more, but you'll get in and out with no problems. * This spring training, I took on an aggressive goal. As far as Spring Training stadiums go in AZ this one is definitely not one of the better ones. The parking lot beyond the outfield fence is a significant walk considering the distance to the main gate. The scoreboard is very dated, forget about replays. The food options are definitely better in other parks like Sloan and Salt River. If you're an Angels fan I'd recommend checking them out during a "road game". read more

There is nothing like Spring Baseball, and this was my first visit to see the Angels in Tempe. This is the type of event that had helped me survive the very cold winter days. I knew I had these tickets and it was great to look forward to the trip. I must say we must have seen the hottest spring game of the year as the temperature clocked in at 92 degrees, and this was okay, as it was snowing at my house and I had my sun block on. The Angels were playing the Brewers and it ended up going into extra innings. Our only concern with the facility was the leg room and the width of the chairs. One of the friendly ushers let us know that they had been averaging about 8,000 folks a game, and I wondered how many of them were as cramped as we were in our seats. The other concern I had was the fact that everything is ridiculously overpriced. I don't mind helping to pay salaries, but beers were over $10, and I was thinking that there are times when you can get a 12-pack for that price. I know prices help prevent drunken behavior, but why punish the many for the poor behavior of a few. it would be best to simply cut them off, and allow others to pay a more reasonable price. How about the food? We had the Portebella Sandwich, and it sounded much better than it was. This ballpark has all the items that you'd suspect, but none of the character of other parks. It would have been nice to see some regional favorites, but it didn't happen. My advice, eat elsewhere prior to the game. Our game went an extra inning and ended up a tie. We had seats very close to home plate, and, heck, my wife was even engaged in the game. Now if you can help some of the Angels not strike out, I would really appreciate it. Weekday baseball game produced a pleasant experience. We had to pay $5 to park, but I noticed some spots before you get the police crosswalk that appeared free. Beer prices were essentially the same here as in surprise, but in a twist wine was only $6, undercutting beer for once. You cannot walk around the entire stadium, but not a big deal really. The cheapest tickets are $15 lawn seats and the grass is nice (unless your laying down and the guy behind you is also laying down with his shoes off). Younger crowd than Surprise, but all the ancient ushers evened up the playing field. I did try a decent pretzel at $3.50, but you should add a side of cheese to make it better. The experience though is a bit sullied as there seems be a dozen brothers hawking tickets (to a 3/4 full stadium) as you drove through the gauntlet to the park. Also if the Reds and Angels are playing, can you guys talk before the game and decide which teams wears red! read more

This is a very nice Spring Training ballpark, but not as great as Surprise Stadium nor Scottsdale Stadium. You do have the unique view that reminds you that you're in Arizona, such as the butte that is impossible to miss behind the left field foul pole. They have plenty of lawn seating, but the ballpark isn't as big since you don't have any seats located in center or right fields. Their tickets are also more expensive than Surprise Stadium & Phoenix Municipal Stadium. There are two different places to park. Either by the front entrance of the stadium, or behind the center or right fields of the stadium. Just beware..; even though it's rare, if a player crushes a ball to right field.., there's a slight possibility that your car may be nailed by a baseball if you're parked too close to the ballpark. FYI.., you share the same parking lot as the players; so you may run into a player or two when you're returning to your car. Back in 2007, I left a game around the 6th inning since I was under a tight schedule that afternoon. I happened to exit the ballpark at the same time as the former San Francisco Giants' Rich Aurilia. Since he lives in Arizona and he started in today's game, he was done with his workout for the day; so he walked out with his baseball bag & bats, got into his 2007 Mercedez Benz (which he was just parked a few rows away from us) and drove away. This was the first game I have gone to for this new football league. It was definitely fun and worth it. The tickets are very reasonable and we sat right up near the field. Finally as a long time Angel fan I hit up a spring training session in AZ. It did not disappoint at all. My wife and went out and got to catch a game and scored some autographs. We stayed at the Comfort Inn that was about a mile away and walked to Tempe Diablo so we didn't have to deal with the parking. It was a Saturday game so it was sold out and pretty crowded. We lined up and scored a few autographs so I was pretty stoked. Our seats were in the Honey Brown Sweet Spot, which is the shaded area that is an all you can it section. (beast mode engaged) Seriously if you can get one of the tickets it will save you on a hot day and make sure your ready to eat. They serve up dogs, burgers and sausages. They also have peanuts, kettle chips and other little munchies that will keep you coming back for more. I was really hoping for a nacho bar. : ( I really enjoyed this little spot, its got a nice feel to it, its small and has a intimate feel. I came here in March to watch a spring training game between the Athletics and the Angels. We got to the game about two hours early, so parking was very easy. For about the first 30 minutes after the gates opened, they played hip hop music over the PA system. It seemed like it was streamed directly from Pandora. It's music that I normally listen to, but I heard older fans near me say to each other that they didn't like the music. I thought that it was amusing that the music that they were playing was not censored at all and there were sexually explicit lyrics and lyrics with profanity blasted throughout the stadium. At that time, the stadium was pretty empty and I didn't really see many children around. Finally, they stopped a pretty graphic song in the middle and started playing much more tame music. I had a good time at the game, but this isn't one of my favorite spring training parks. The food choices are, in my opinion, the worst in the Cactus League. I like indulging in ballpark food, but there just weren't very many options even for someone looking to spend money. read more

OK, so this is my 2nd stadium I've been to for Spring Training, but unfortunately I visited Camelback first so going to Tempe Diablo is like taking a huge step down. For what it's worth, the stadium is dated. I believe the Angels have been playing here for like 20 years. The scoreboard could definitely use an upgrade to a modern Jumbotron instead of the old high school type that it is. The views though are nice, the stadium is clean, you can walk around the grounds but it's not adjacent like Camelback and will take a ways to walk from just the parking lot to the playing fields. I'm not sure why, but they charge $5 for parking when a lot of other stadiums are free. Since it's not as large, they don't have a lot of food options. Also, during sellout games, they really do pack them in. We got lawn seats and it was wall-to-wall people and oversold in my opinion. I do love the Angels, but wish they had a more modern facility. read more

This was our first time at Spring Training and if we are being perfectly honest...it will probably be our last time. Nothing personal against the Angels or Tempe Diablo Stadium but it just wasn't worth the drive from California for us when our home stadium is a short 15 minute drive from us back in Anaheim. With that said, this stadium really needs a lot of work. I fully understand that this is a small "minor league" size field but the seats are just way too close together for comfort. You're squished together like sardines so you better get friendly with your neighbors. On top of that, the concourses are just way too narrow! It's a safety concern! You can't get anywhere! It is extremely difficult to move about the stadium. I mean forget going to the restroom or getting a drink! I thought that the stadium just felt run down and old. The lack of shade really gets to you also considering that it's HOT in Arizona during Spring Training. The one good thing about this stadium is that it does provide opportunity for the fans to meet and greet with the players. Unfortunately I was unable to snag an autograph this time around but there were many that did! I probably won't be back and will stick to the regular season games but at least I can say that I've been to Spring Training now! Go Angels! 2/5 read more

I grew up in a family who loves baseball, starting with my grandfather's love of the Dodgers. I have been to many a Dodger game in LA but unlike my grandpa, I have been a lifelong fan of the Angels, having lived practically my entire life in Orange County. I have been to countless baseball games in Angel stadium in Anaheim, CA, but on a recent trip to AZ, was finally able to take in my first Spring Training game here at Tempe Diablo Stadium. I had an awesome time. I purchased my tickets online and was pleased with the prices as I knew this stadium was not that large, and I am used to regular season Angel Stadium ticket prices. You can opt to buy seat tickets or lawn tickets which are general seating and cheaper. My two tickets were $50.00 total, and after fees, it ended up being $58.50 for the two seats. I have never been to another spring training stadium, but I was impressed with Tempe Diablo. The stadium seats about 10,000 people as opposed to the 45,000 or so that regular Angel stadium seats, so you can get a much better view of the field here at Diablo. OK, yes, it is older, and yes, it doesn't have super fancy stuff like other stadiums do, but who cares?! This is spring training, people! I could get all that I needed here to watch two MLB baseball teams play pre-season and it was cheaper than being a regular reason game. Parking here at the stadium was $5. We encountered a lot of the staff outside before we got in at the vendor booths and stadium workers who were super nice and helpful. I was excited when we entered the stadium. I love watching baseball games live. We were about 12 rows back from the field and we had a great view of the game. Food wasn't necessarily cheap but it wasn't also as ridiculous as going to a regular season Angel game either. There were places to get food throughout the stadium as well as vendors roaming the seats selling beer, peanuts, snow cones, cotton candy, soda, etc. It was warm here on this day in Tempe but not too bad and we enjoyed beer, water, soda, a snow cone as well as a hot dog and brat. You can even get the ginormous batting cap full of nachos here like at regular Angel games. Staff throughout the stadium selling food were great, also. Having now had a taste of my first live spring training game and knowing now that there are many stadiums throughout AZ that I can watch the Angels and other MLB teams play, I can't wait to come back again next year to take in more games during spring training season. read more

The parking situation probably blows because its in in the back of an Industrial Park. Very strange. My husband was none too pleased about having to drive our car off a curb to get out of the dirt lot. And its $5....$5 to park in a dirt lot. Makes the $3 valet at Postino even more palatable. I enjoyed the small venue and for the Giants game it was packed. (I don't think they sell out their other spring training games though....)I'm pretty sure the sight lines are good from anywhere, save the extreme ends of the baselines. The stadium reminded me a lot of the actual Angel Stadium including the Disney-fied outfits worn by ushers and ticket takers. (Why the straw hats, why?!) Its in Tempe but just a short drive from Mill so you can head there before or after the game. And I heard a rumor they run a shuttle from Mill so thats something to look into for future games. Oh, and I definitely saw the same Pepsi truck drive by on the highway four times and I began to wonder if that was their way of advertising. read more

Loving baseball like I do, I just had to come down for a Spring Training experience and boy am I glad I did. Frankly, I spent less time watching games than I did driving around Phoenix and the surounding area because after a few innings of watching players you have never heard of do their thing, you get a little bored and your butt gets itchy for more action. Plus, I was born in Phoenix, and hadn't been down here since I was a wee little lad and wanted to relive my youth. It is very cool however to go from park to park just to see how different they all are and with so many teams moving from Florida to Arizona, the place is now very crowded. I saw the A's at Phoenix Muni, the Giants at Scottsdale Muni, Seattle at their new complex, Milwaukee at Marysvale and the Angels at Tempe Diablo. Of all the parks, Tempe Diablo was pretty cool, not because you have an incredibly busy freeway right off of the right field line but because of the awesome mountain right behind the left field fence. It makes the park desert-like. The food is also very good as long as you like hot dogs and cokes. The parking really convenient as long as you get there early before the lot fills up because the park is way off by itself in an industral area and there is NO PARKING on the side streets allowed. Finally, if you get there early and love getting player pictures and autographs, this is the place for you cause they can't escape walking from the practice fields, through the lot into the main park. No other park does this and generally the players are pretty good about stopping if you are nice to them. Personally, I have never been an autograph kind of guy. What does having someone sign their name to something do anyway? Never understood the mind-set of that. They don't care about you and frankly, do you really care about them? All in all, if you are making the Spring Training trip, this is one of the better parks to visit. It is never that crowded so you can get a good seat and you can get yourself in and out with ease. And remember, the Angels are one of the hot teams now to so see them while they are one of the best teams. read more

As I lifelong Angels fan, I write this with hope of improvement. Being the oldest stadium in the Cactus League, the grounds and facility were well maintained. Not as majestic or open as other facilities but clean and comfortable. However the food was atrocious. Like warm hot dogs and shriveled cold bratwurst that was "fresh" were extremely disappointing. The baseball was great but for such a below average facility and crappy quality of food it makes no sense to charge the highest amount for tickets and food. Arte, you need to walk around more. Compared to other spring training facilities and minor league ballparks, color me unimpressed. What is does have: - The outfield grass is the place to be. We roamed around to find the best spots and this seemed the most relaxing. Not too hot, and not too cold. - We liked the fact that the ushers didn't really care where you sit. If you wanted to sit behind home plate, nobody will stop you. - ample seating. Wasn't crowded when we went. - It's still spring training, which you can't bitch about. - easy parking. What it lacks: - Atmosphere! This place is quieter than a library! You could seriously hear a pin drop. Was it apathetic Angels fans? I don't know. But they only played music when there was a pitching change and even then it seemed like an afterthought. It was very surreal to go to a quiet game where nobody seemed to be really interested. I know it's spring training, but come on? - A decent view. You can see the freeway and a University of Phoenix building in right field. Whoop de doo! The left field had a cool view of a mesa however. - Decent food. It has ballpark fare and nothing else. It has nothing to write home about. I've visited Angels' home away from home, also known as Tempe Diablo Stadium, a few times, most recently two weeks ago. The ballpark certainly serves its purpose, but the facility is not nearly as nice as the other ballparks in the area. We came here for a Dodgers/Angels game on a Monday afternoon. The game was sold out, and all the parking spots were taken loooooong before the first pitch. We showed up at 11:30 for a 1 pm game, and we were forced to park in a parking lot of a corporate building far, far away. Walking back to the stadium, we had to, ahem, dodge cars and scalpers, which wasn't exactly an R&R type of activity. Once inside the stadium, I felt much better. Let's face it, there are worse places to be on a Monday afternoon. We had seats just to the left of 3rd base, 5 rows up. I was surprised that such good seats were not seats at all. They were bleacher benches with back support. There was hardly any legroom at all, and when someone needed to get through, it was an adventure in itself. The concourses are also very small and crowded, so getting concessions or walking to the bathroom is no picnic, either. I like how the ballpark is designed to look like a mini Angel Stadium, complete with giant red letters "A" and the view of the mountains to the left and the freeway in centerfield. The ushers at Tempe Diablo Stadium are also among the most lenient and friendliest in all of Cactus League. Well done! read more

I went here for a Spring Training game. I think that it's a great park! There's tons of parking. It's easy to get to. The people are friendly and the weather is perfect in March. read more

Came here to check out spring training game with some co workers! Food selection is bit limited and ok beer selection! Prices sure have gone up for a spring training game! Hot dog was $5 and $11 for a cup of beer! Stadium is a bit outdated compared to the other spring training spots! Overall good time just may be time for newer amenities! read more

Arrive early the park is a far walk if you get here late. They have these rick-shaw kind of dudes but ehhh. we decided to walk . So I'm with my 77 year old Dad who is hard of hearing, the place is packed and trying to buy soft drinks at the window. Handed the clerk a $100 Who then is helping us put lids on the drinks, tell me where the straws are and give us a tray . This turned out to be quite confusing trying to get the attention of my dad. So I handed the clerk the $100 bill and then we left.. ya I know dumb.. without my change.. Again, it was loud, confusing and I'm trying to keep an eye on my 77 year old Dad. So we sit down at our seats about an hour later its hot so I'm about to go and get us another round of drinks and realize I never got my change the first time ($80.00) and panic kicked in. So I go back to the window, the clerk remembered me because I was wearing a Dodger shirt. He didn't quite remember who gave him the $100 bill but he remembered that a manager picked it up out of his drawer. He called the manager over and after he asked me and listened to what happened then Manager told him to give me the change. I gave the guy a tip for "doing the right thing" He easily could have understood that he would have had an $80 overage in his drawer and could have pocketed that money but he did the right thing and it made all the difference to me. I say this place hires really great honest people . Kudos to the honest clerk! Thanks for not making my weekend a $80 lesson learned. read more

Our first game of Spring Training to see the Angels. It is only halfway through spring training and they are out of programs. This is so disappointing since we have new mgmt and it would be nice to see the extended Spring Training roster. Also, the Team Store again is such a disappointment. The other ballparks put Tempe Diablo Stadium to shame. The City of Tempe should be disappointed in the lack of products and poor planning for the programs. They are,also, out of bags in all the Team Stores. If this is contracted out this is not what fans are expecting and the staff should do a better job. We always look forward to our time here, but this does dampen the experience. But we love watching the Angels and the up and coming prospects...although it would be nice to have a program to look at for this info as well. read more

This stadium is terrible. People who travel from far can not watch and interact from a comfortable distance while players practice. Very different from camelback ranch, people can get very close to the players. They charge for parking.... in a small parking lot!!! We had handicapped parking and the guy had us park way to close to other cars. I told the guy we need room for a handicap person but his excuse was that they need room for other cars. BS!! Unlike other stadiums, the national anthem was heard on a small speaker that couldnt be heard clear and it was a recording that sounded like it came from a Captain America movie. Thats just plain lazy, disrespectful, and does not pump anyone up. This place feels like they are hurting for money and seems like a high school atmosphere. Does not give fans (the people that pay there bills) a bang for there buck. To make it worse, organization is terrible there. I really want to like this friendly place. I hope great changes happen for next year when we come and visit! read more

My wife and I drove out from Huntington Beach for Friday's game, D-Backs @ Angels. Our question while baking in our seats was, "since they have lights, why don't they have night games"? Sure, no one can predict the weather when they make the schedule, but watching a night game would be more tolerable than cooking in 95 degree heat. Most folks were watching the game standing in the shade of the concourse. Schedule some night games! I can handle sitting outside on a warm Arizona night, but sitting in that hot Sun at 1:30 got too be too much for most folks. read more

I love this place. I come here once a year for ANGELS spring training. This trip I got a hamburger and 5 combo deal. The hamburger was good. It tool 5-10 minutes but the cashier helping me was really nice and made sure I was the first one to get a fresh hamburger when it was ready. The 5 combo deal can't be beat. For $15 you get 2 hot dogs, 2 drinks(or bottles of water), and a bag of peanuts. I would definitely recommend this deal for people with families or individuals who like to eat. The staff was really nice and the venue was clean. Thanks for years of great experiences. read more

So let's see 7 down 3 to go and I will have every spring Training park here in the Valley of the Sun covered. This was my latest stop.....Tempe Diablo Stadium. I really liked the entrance to the stadium....looks a little bit like the Big "A" in Anaheim. The concourse is large and I really like the green line they have painted with the statement "No Standing Please" it really keeps the concourse free of people just standing around and crowding the concourse. There are great views of the stadium no matter where you sit and the hills that surround the mountain are pretty awesome. I don't know why they don't allow people to sit on those hills and watch the games....but I would really like to see that one day. The food is average and is not to terribly expensive....however a 16oz can of beer will run 8 buck this year. I was told it was 7.25 a year ago....but since I don't drink it didn't really matter to me....LOL. The parking is just okay...just make sure you get there early or you will have a long walk to the stadium...by the way parking is 5 bucks. Now the only reason I didn't give this locale 5 stars was because it doesn't really have a spring training feel like some of the other parks I have been to.....the fans are very subdued.....and the atmosphere is kind of bland. I was extremely shocked by this too because the Angels are expected to contend this year for the World Championship....so you would think the fans would be a little more excited. I was also disappointed with the "Lawn" it is perhaps the smallest I have seen at any other park....and the "Lawn" is suppose to be the highlight really of any spring training park. All in All this is good stadium and I definitely will return again in the future....but just another FYI....autographs are hard to come by here.....so don't really expect to get many unless you catch the players when they are leaving the ballpark. Not much shade, but views are good from most anywhere in the stadium. Beware ... this is one of the few stadiums left that still has bleachers. Quite a few options for food and drinks, which is nice. Don't forget the sunscreen! read more

Parking blows here. Their main parking lot has space for probably 200 cars, then after that it's to each their own on office park side streets and dusty empty lots. Concession options are limited. Compared to other spring training stadiums the food offerings are weak. The only meat option here is a hot dog. I was here this past Saturday to see the Angels and Giants, and other than the parking and concession options, this is a pretty average spring training stadium overlooking the freeway. It has an intimate feel and there's a small area for lawn seating. Our seats in particular were great, just to the left of home plate, so I can't speak confidently on other more average seats. BTW, the map is wrong for whatever reason. It's on Alameda just West of I-10. read more

This was our first trip to Spring Training, despite being big Angels fans and living within driving distance in Orange County, CA. Went to the afternoon Diamondbacks game as well as the afternoon Dodgers game, both at Angels Diablo stadium. Chose to stay at the Homewood Suites as we only wanted 2 nights and the Buttes required 3. Very pleased with Homewood Suites - convenient, free parking, free wifi, free breakfast and only 1/4 mile away. (The Marriott Buttes also looked nice & certainly close, but we didn't go up there.) We chose to drive to the stadium, but Homewood suites also has a free shuttle that will drop you off/pick you up. We got to the stadium super early (9am for a 1pm game) in an effort to get some autographs and check out batting practice. Our experience with the parking guys was awesome. They were a bunch of retirees and super nice to us. I'm sure going at slow time helped with that. We bought an extra spot so we could tailgate a bit and have some shade. Cars are only $5 and $25 for RVs. Autographs were scarce and the big guys were all practicing in the stadium, but it was still fun to walk around the minor league area and watch some of those guys. The practice fields are great! The staff at the practice fields (more retiree guys) were super sweet and helpful. I was amazed at how kind they were to us and our son. Jack was one of the guys in particular who tossed a ball to our son and really made him feel special. Another one of the guys had rosters with names to go with all the numbers for the rookies, which was fun to check out. There was a pitching mound where the kids could throw to a parent and plenty of up close viewing of activities. For all those who complained of no toilets in the parking area, there are restrooms next to practice field #2, which was open both days. If you go during the day and it's sunny, it's going to be really HOT! We had awesome seats behind home plate and then behind Angels dugout. Both were crazy HOT! You will pay $22 for a spray fan in the gift shop, so bring your own! We actually ended up sitting in our seats only 1/2 the time because our child really wanted autographs and that wasn't the place to get them. If you're not looking for autographs, the seats are great! They're actual seats rather than bench seats, which makes a difference. If it's hot out, bring a towel to sit on - you will thank me! If I had a toddler, would probably pick the lawn so my kid could run around. Autographs at the stadium were pretty light as well. We went in at 11:30 both days when doors opened and very few of the guys were signing. Those who did sign typically only did a couple then moved on. That was a long 9 hours (cumulative) of waiting with our son and his pen/ball. I totally understand they can only do so much, but did think our son would be able to get a few more given the time he put into waiting. I was, however, impressed with how long Hector Santiago and CJ Wilson spent signing on their way out. Stadium staff (again, more retirees) were super helpful in helping us understand where/when to go and also in letting us move around our seats. The other totally awesome part of this stadium was the Legends concession director, Scott. We have some food allergies to gluten, soy and dairy so I called ahead to find out if any of their hot dogs, burgers, etc would work for us since it's never a good idea to try and ask in the middle of a busy game. Not only did Scott call me back, but he offered to specially order hot dogs and buns that worked with our allergies. This was SO way above and beyond anything I'd expected. I was just hoping to hear the ingredients in a few items and then realize I'd need to bring something myself. I actually felt badly having him order in the items since there were only 2 of us eating them for 2 days. However, he was super accommodating and really wanted to help us out. He called us before the first game to let us know which concession stand they would be at, that the staff would be alerted to them/us, that the hot dogs would be kept separate and then read me the ingredients so I was comfortable and gave me his cell phone in case of any troubles. WHAT!?! Yes - he said it was his pleasure to make sure fans have the best experience possible. He also said he will do it at Anaheim Angels stadium too (although I know they often have options there). btw - the hot dogs/buns he ordered in were very high quality and we paid the same as the regular hot dogs - amazing! The staff who handled us for them in the concession booth were totally friendly and ready for us as well. Thank you, Scott and staff! (if you're also on special diet - check out Picazzo's in Tempe for dinner after the game) We are already looking forward to our return to Spring Training and Tempe Diablo Stadium next year! read more
