We were recently at Mountain America Stadium for the class of 2026 graduation ceremony. There were some positives and negatives to our experience, but overall it was a fine time, and wouldn't deter me from visiting again for a game or other occasion in the future. I appreciate that the stadium is so close to the Light Rail stop, making it easy to avoid the parking issues other reviewers mention. We arrived fairly early for the ceremony, and were able to grab some solid seats in the shade. There are several concession stands and other food options surrounding the seating, and we found the prices to be pretty typical compared to other sporting venues. The concession stands were mostly well stocked ... with the exception of soft pretzels, which ran out before the ceremony began, and we were told to go check another stand after waiting in a 20 minute line. No thanks, we don't need a pretzel that badly! Entering the stadium was no problem, as there was a steady flow of folks filing in without any major slow-downs. Exiting, however, was a different story. This may just be par for the course with graduation, but the exit stairs were completely full, and felt rather unsafe. I'm not sure the best solution for this, but it's something to note, especially if you're claustrophobic. read more

It's a fine stadium that is obviously home to the ASU sun devils. Been here for one game and now a graduation ceremony. It has good seating and a decent amount of space to fit enough people in it. But it's not the best stadium I've ever been to. It has its share of problems such as parking being a pain to find. Along with it feeling a bit outdated because of its design. But if you're a sun devil you'll love it since it's your home stadium. read more

Abandon all hope ye who enter here! Came here with some friends recently to watch the season opener. The ASU vs NAU opener game took place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with Arizona State defeating Northern Arizona 38-19. The Sun Devils football team is currently ranked Aw yis! Fork 'em, Devils! These veins bleed Yelp-red half the time, maroon-and-gold the other half. It's a great stadium. There's a lot of food and drinks options. I didn't pop into the restrooms so no thoughts on that. Regardless, if you're here for a game, you'll have fun! Go, Devils! Fear the flame. Rise and shout! read more

As an alumni nothing feels better than seeing your team beat #7 ranked school on the hometurf. Nicely organized crowd control and entrance. It was annoying how they had some gates on the sidewalk but I know they just needed it for crowd control. They have lots of food options and drink stations. I did enjoy the updates to the seats since I've last been here. I'm thankful for the shady seats because although it was October it was quite hot outside. read more

Previously called Sun Devil Stadium until 2023, Arizona State University's Mountain America Stadium is a special place to be when visiting the ASU Tempe Campus. It is home to the ASU Sun Devil football team, which just switched from the Pac 12 Conference to the Big 12 Conference this past year. The stadium seats more than 53,000 fans, which decreased from almost 75,000 fans in 2018. This stadium used to host the Fiesta Bowl or the Cactus Bowl every year for many years. It was also home to at the Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Cardinals over the years. I was in the Mountain America Stadium last night for ASU's annual Change the World event, where students competed for scholarships by sharing their pitches and displays to "change the world" over the course of the evening. ASU also hosts other events from Sun Devil Welcome (at the start of the year), graduation ceremonies (at the end of the academic year), InfernoFest (big concert), Pat's Run, and even employee appreciation barbecues. There is also the ASU 365 Community Union events, which include the movies on the field, stadium yoga, and Sparky's Fairway (see my photo). In addition to the many concerts held there (U2, Rolling Stones, The Who, Paul McCartney, Eagles, and George Strait to name just a few), the stadium has also welcomed the Pope, President Obama, A lot of fans have been talking up how they have been impressed with the recent renovations from the updated entrance area to new vendors to the massive screen. In fact, it's been said to have been less of a renovation and more of a reconstruction from the ground up. A new 12,000 square foot club area was added on the 300 level on the east side, which is now enclosed and air conditioned with a beer garden above. The nearby light rail also has elevated the experience for football attendees nowadays. The stadium is a great place to be for many different sorts of events, though for being more than 65 years old, it looks great!! I certainly recommend it. read more

Mountain American Stadium is not ADA friendly and should just be honest and tell people who need accommodations to stay home. I was at the Sun Devils/ NAU game last night. I was with my brother who can barely walk with a cane. He bought $70.00 dollar tickets for us to attend. He paid for ADA parking, but that kind of seating was already sold out. They accommodated us with back row seats. That part was fine! However, the ticket office wasn't clear about how difficult movement around the stadium would be or I wouldn't have let him go. After finally finding the carts for ADA transport, the drivers could not tell us which was the closest gate to our seats. So we went to the one ADA gate (which was also over-filled with fans who were physically able) and that was a long, long way from the elevator. Every parking attendant, security staff, cart driver and usher was totally at a loss about how to help us with his limited mobility. They really wanted to, they just didn't know the information. There was one access elevator at the far side of the stadium and then we had to make our way to section 31 at the opposite end. Back and forth we went! It was a hot evening, no one can control that, but it made his struggle worse and at one point I thought he would collapse. I asked a security guard, who was attending to someone else by bringing them a wheel chair, if we could get one. He apologized and said he could only do it if it was a medical emergency. I joked with him to wait five minutes and it would be! He was very nice, but those are the rules! It took us 40 minutes from the entry gate to reach our seat. He is a trooper, and also very stubborn, so he made it through the game. Afterwards the ushers told us there was a closer elevator, so we followed folks with walkers, canes, and wheelchairs to that elevator near section 24. A very nice young lady informed us that the elevator only went up. We were told by security that to leave the stadium we would have to make our way all the way back to the other side of the stadium. And we did--slowly. A group of disabled folk, a man carrying his wife's oxygen, another with a catheter bag. We stopped often and sat. The teams were off the field and the post game was finished when we got to the elevator. A very nice security guard told us to take a ramp for disabled people to exit the stadium, but sadly, at ramp's end, there are no carts to take you to your car after the game. But we are in ADA parking? How are we supposed to get back there? My brother sheepishly told me the ticket lady did tell him the ADA carts aren't provided post game. What??? Security isn't allowed to drive us, it is against their rules. Frustrated, I almost called 911. But several of us left our disabled people sitting alone at 11:30 p.m. to go run and get our cars from ADA parking, find our way back through traffic and roadblocks, and retrieve our people! We got home from the game at 12:30 p.m. Let me just say how very kind everyone was and how amazing the ASU students were with us, even those in full beer goggle game mode. We travel to stadiums a lot, my nephew is a coach, and have just never had such a disappointing and stressful visit. Mountain American Stadium should just post a disclaimer that they do not have accommodations for ADA. read more

We attended the class of 2025 graduation here at Sun Devil Stadium. It looks like a good venue to attend sports events. The graduation wasn't bad either. My main concern were the "security guards" hassling a gentleman about sitting in the ADA section. They had no reason to hassle him yet they were relentless. The man was trying his best to remain civil and polite and I think he did a good job. Get some better people to work there ASU. Find polite people and not people bent on a power trip. Make sure you eat before you go!!! After hearing about all the improvements, I was expecting a great experience including the food. I attended a football game this past weekend. Entering and exiting the stadium was a breeze. Finding our seats were easy. Even though I should have brought a seat cushion. Truly enjoyed all the videos and celebratory entertainment in between scores and quarters. We had not eaten and decided we would grab some food at the game. Big mistake. We ordered 3 hamburgers. We're assuming the patties were cooked from frozen because the center of 2 burgers was still cold. I ordered a wrap, named after someone. It was inedible. Almost all lettuce, 2 or 3 small pieces of chewy chicken and it was drenched in hot sauce. My soda was good. So I was drinking my meal. Also looking at the workers, not sure anyone wanted to be there. Later we bought some bottled water. $10 a bottle. The guy was nice enough to say keep your bottle after you finish, there's water stations all around. They did have pizza that was being freshly cooked in a pizza oven. We saw that after ordering our food. Wish we would have seen it first. read more

I'm an ASU alumni and long time football season ticket holder of the Sun Devils. My Grandma was a season ticket holder back in the day and would take a different grandkid in our family to a game every year. So I have many memories of coming here as a child. I even remember watching the '86 Rose Bowl on TV because my parents were at the game. I eventually became an ASU student during the Jake Plummer/ Pat Tillman Rose Bowl run and jumped on those cheap student season ticket holder prices. What a party it was to be in the student section during that time. Sun Devil Stadium first opened in 1958 and has gone through many renovations. They increased seating capacity from 30,000 to 70,000 over the years. But then starting in 2012, ASU introduced a five phase $300 million plan to reduce seating capacity to 55,000 people. The much needed upgrades have really improved the game watching experience (especially the new video board). They even upgraded the food court area to include much better food options and the bathrooms are so much nicer. Sun Devil Stadium has natural grass and the field is named for the late great coach Frank Kush. The Phoenix Metro light rail drops you off right in front of the stadium if you want to avoid parking in the area. The Arizona Cardinals played here from 1988 to 2005. I was a season ticket the later half of those years. Those were miserable times because it was so hot for mid-day games and the Cardinals were just garbage back then. Super Bowl XXX was hosted here in 1996. The Fiesta Bowl played here from 1971 to 2006 with two BSC Championship games being played here during that time. The Copper/Cactus/Insight Bowl (so many names ... lol) also used to play here. I've actually attended a couple great memorable concerts over the years at Sun Devil Stadium. I got to see U2 during their Zoo Station tour and the Rolling Stones back in the day. A few films like Jerry Maguire were also filmed here. Between these events and all the many games I have attended, my memories here are endless. I highly recommend a back stage tour if you get a chance and check out the student athlete facilities. Hopefully someday ASU gets back to their Rose Bowl glory days. But for now, I enjoy getting a few friends together to tailgate in the parking lot on game day. Go Devils. read more

Came here for the Arizona State vs Kansas game and the best way to describe this place is mid. Food selection was limited to a few carnival style vendors, the fans were trashy to say the least, and the heat caused the stadium to be filled with musty smelling people. $15 dollars for a tall Coors, since when did Arizona State feel entitled enough to rob the general population of people just trying to get wasted and have a good time. D+ rating for this stadium, don't waste your time attending an event here. read more

Beautiful stadium views and layout but the amenities are just average. For club level, none of the food is included (except popcorn) and what they do have for purchase is pretty sad and unappealing. Having been to many club level stadiums before, this food is some of the worst. For the price you'd expect better options. read more

I was here for a fiesta bowl years ago. It was an intense game, stadiums were packed to the gills. Few seats were empty. So much red for OSU and Blue for Notre Dame. My friend was an alum of ND, so, I was there to help root on the Irish, naturally. However deep in the back of my head it didn't matter who won. It was just cool and great to just be there, one person out of thousands in the stands. I really don't remember the game at all, just the amount of energy from the fans, it was palpable, intense enough to lift up the stadium if it was powered by only the energy of the crowd. It was scintillating to be here and feel the immense energy in the stadium that day. read more

What a remodel! Such an great improvement. From the entrance to the improved vendors like ChikFilA and Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers the whole thing is a fantastic. We had a good view of the field from our seats. Lots of room to roam around on the concourse at half time. The big screen is spectacular, although we were sitting under it so it wasn't much help for us. Expect a line getting in with security- possibly the only downside. read more

Ah, the Sun Devils' lair! I've enjoyed many football games and graduation in this stadium. It's undergone many renovations over the years but in my opinion they only add to that awesome experience. I personally enjoy sitting in the upper level as I get to see the full field better during games. Can't wait to see the results of the latest improvements this upcoming season! Why the 4 stars instead of 5, you ask? I just wish they'd have a nice selection of craft beer. With Four Peaks nearby and SanTan not that far off, this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Had not been to the new stadium since they started remodeling the place a few years ago. They did a good job as you can now walk around the place without stopping and they have a few scattered dining options including Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers and Portillo's. The stadium has not been too crowded during Hotshots games, so plenty of room to move seats or roam around, but might get worse when the Devils play there in the fall. You can still get great views of the mountains from way up top as well. read more

As someone who has lived all over the country, one of my mantras is "grow where you're planted". Which means, supporting the local teams: Go Cards, Dbacks, Suns, and yes, the Sun Devils. Although I didn't attend ASU, its been fun to see the school pull itself out of the stigma as only a party school and punch the intellectual/scholarly world in the face with their rapid rise (most innovative University). In parallel, the Athletic program has caught up with Charli Turner Thorn thanks to Ray Anderson and Dr. Crow. The football and Men's basketball teams have risen again to prominence on the national level. Sun Devil Stadium had a ton of miles on it. Prototypical of the concrete behemoths the 1970's gave us, this old man once hosted a Super Bowl, an NFL Team, and 100's of college games in the blazing Arizona heat. It was time for a facelift but plastic surgery was out of the question, this one needed structural help. So with the leadership of Mr. Anderson and plenty of deep pocketed donors (including former coach Todd Graham-so classy and generous) and over a number of years, this stadium did its best "Phoenix" impersonation and rose from the ashes to become a true jewel in the desert. Plenty of restrooms, better food, incredible video boards, pleasant security getting you into the game all made for a great day of college football. We took the light rail down, which means no parking, no parking fee (yes, $4 for the all day ticket to ride) and the train stop is right at the entrance to the stadium. College football has such a different feel and atmosphere than the Pros have on Sundays, its really a great experience. Kudo's to Sun Devil Nation for not razing the stadium but preserving it and ensuring it will be around for many years to come. read more

There are many options for food and drinks, And the old wooden board flooring are now gone and replaced by cement. This place has been great on Saturdays in the fall but until they get more shade it will never be a top-tier football venue. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Sun Devil for life, but 1/2 the season is just too hot for pleasure. They've made beer readily available at $9 for a pint can. Lots of great food vendors as well. Elevators are available but it's kind of a tough place for handicapped fans. read more

Went tonight to watch "Sorry to bother you". It was my first time at the Sun Devil Stadium and what a cool way to go. Laying on the football field, watching a movie was pretty romantic. The nacho cheese machine did break and they gave us cold cheese nachos, they were kind enough to switch it out for 2 hot dogs. Never been to a game here either so I have to make that happen soon. I know a girl who is an Arizona Sun Devil. I won't embarrass her by naming her, we'll just call her M. I met her when I played a concert in Phoenix once. She's really sweet, very self-obsessed, she constantly takes all kinds of naughty selfies and sends them probably to every man she knows (and likes). (Which is a lot). (Which is fine). She is married with kids, but looks about 15 years younger than she is. She is one of the most tanned girls I know. The term Sun Devil refers both to how tanned she is, and how bad she is when she frequently tries to persuade me to be her next affair. I will not be doing that. But I'm sure there are a few Arizona males (maybe females, what do I know), who were less morally scrupulous. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - I've seen the Cardinals play both at the new stadium, and here at Sun Devil years ago, and I actually think the crowd was louder here. I think it's one of the louder, better college stadiums in the country, and for that reason I give it a big 4. Now that I've been to every NFL stadium (current and former) and seen all 32 teams play live in the flesh, time to review them on Yelp! I love stadia! I've been to every cool sports arena in the UK & North America, it's an obsession I have with travel & sport. I've roamed America as a musician for years. In that time, I've seen sports games at (or toured when empty, or both) almost every major stadium in US/Canada. Many pictures taken which I'll upload eventually. On future travels, I'll new pix, and add more stadiums! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** I like that Phoenix has a Ted's Hot Dogs (Buffalo's finest), but my fave thing to eat in AZ has to be Carolina's, some amazing south western food right near downtown Phoenix. Well this stadium is full of stunning Arizona girls, and it's got a lot of character and atmosphere, and when the Tempe-rature goes up, so does the crowd volume. If it were owned by an evil mathematician it would be Sum Devil. If it were an adult movie with a greek theme it would be Bun Devil. And if it were my stadium, it would be Pun Devil. The Cardinals used to play here, which is why it is really named after the Devil, because in order to meet the devil, you must commit Cardinal Sin. read more

WTF? When I saw this recent review written by some jackass named elin from California about Sun Devil Stadium, I nearly went through the roof. Come back and talk smack about us when your tail isn't dragging between your legs, you ass. I guess if I were up 20-7 and then gave up 20 straight points despite being ranked the #2 team in the nation earlier in the season, I would be REALLY REALLY bitter too. But alas I'm not in that position. I'm a Sun Devil. After beating Cal into a pulp on Saturday, we are basically where Cal was a few weeks ago. ASU yanked Cal's chair out from under it and took its place. Ouch. So yeah, Cal fans are bitter, and mad, and in the mood to write "bad" reviews about us on Yelp. I guess when you're Cal, that's all you have left. I've gone to our football games pretty much every year since my ASU days. And I haven't a clue what elin is talking about. Sun Devil Stadium was rocking on Saturday night, and yes I was there. I was also there for an assortment of other games over the past couple years when we weren't being talked about nationally, and ASU fans showed up in force. I actually went to the game with a bunch of non-ASU fans from the east coast and elsewhere, and all of them got caught up in the excitement and have become Sun Devil converts. The energy of this season is highly contagious. Simply put, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. He probably thought Cal was underrated when it was ranked #2. The bottom line is: 31-20. (And if we had no class it would have been 38-20, but alas we stopped playing with a minute to go at the Cal goal line to spare their fans the pain). GIVE 'EM HELL DEVILS! Edit: There are now TWO crybaby Cal fans who have written nasty reviews about Sun Devil Stadium on the heels of our ruining their 2007 season. I think it's understandable. I've been going to Sun Devil Stadium for 40 years and I love it. This is all about college football but more important Sun Devil Football. Yes I agree its old and some seats might be uncomfortable for non-football people. It's all about football. The food is okay not great but it's about the entertainment. I sit in the loge section which is in between the lower bowl and the upper bowl of the stadium. You have to pay a little extra for these seats but I take my mom and aunt. They're old and the nice part about the loge is there is an elevators for them to get to there seats. In the loge there is free soda, popcorn, peanuts, plus dinner and desert. Dinner is okay food which always consist of either hot dogs or brats and some sort of chicken sandwich or something. Desert is always cookies or brownies. Overall I love this place because it all about Sun Devil Football. For all those other people coming to root for the visitors. Your welcome but every stadium that you root for the visitor always gives you a hard time and that's just part of football. Go Devils!!!!! read more

I really want to like this stadium, I do. It's just that it's too outdated for me. The food selection is limited. But I think the worst part about it is the lack of vibe during tailgates. Also, despite the huge size of the alumni base in Phoenix, they don't come out to support ASU. When I attended the Oregon/ASU game this year, there were plenty of empty seats...! How can this place be empty when ASU had only 1 loss at the Ducks were in the Top 5 in the country? Watching the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl was pretty cool, too bad the stadium wasn't full. I started watching ASU games at Sun Devil Stadium back in high school - back in the early 80s. I've seen some of the greatest games in this stadium during Rose Bowl runs in the 80s and 90s (nothing compares to the site of goal posts marching down 5th Ave after OT win over USC) and Arizona Cardinals games. I've also been to the Coliseum in Los Angeles for USC vs UCLA football games and here's my thoughts on Sun Devil Stadium... The stadium has evolved over the years but it's still the same classic venue it's always been, complete with bathtub urinals. Everything's asphalt around the stadium and it's quite a hike to the upper deck seats or even the top of the lower deck seats, especially from 5th Ave., as the entire stadium is built on a pair of mountains. C'mon, admit it! It's one of the coolest placements of a stadium... ever! Worst thing about the stadium in my opinion is simply that it's outdoors. It's crazy hot in the "fall" when ASU starts playing and it's frigid (to us Phoenicians) in the winter, especially after dark with a breeze blowing in the upper deck. Brrrr! Spoiled are we with indoor Dbax and Cardinals stadiums. This is certainly one of my favorite places to take my teen/preteen kids. They find the stadium very interesting, though they always whine about the hike up to the stands. College games are always a different experience than the pros. Tailgating here is something else altogether, but if you are doing ANYTHING near ASU, then you already know about the party scene. Let us get to the stadium proper... This place is huge. Standing down on the field and looking up towards that blue Arizona sky will give you a little perspective on just how massive this place is. Sandwiched between two mountains, it's easy to get lost in your surroundings. The only bone I have to pick is with the fact the bathrooms are like finding water in the desert. I was expecting a stadium of this size to have numerous bathrooms, but I had to do more then a little searching to locate one. If you are looking to catch a college football game and get the "big stadium" experience, Sun Devil Stadium is a pretty good place to start. read more

The dimensions of the stadium are well positioned so no one has a terrible seat in the house. I like how the stadium is uphill, which makes it feel like you are climbing a mountain to go to the stadium. It gives it a mystical feel. The stadium PA announcer encourages the energy from the crowd on plays like 3rd down. It would be good if there was a constant message hyping up the fans. When ASU was losing, there weren't many PA announcement to get the fans going. This would be my biggest recommendation. read more

This is an extremely unique and interesting facility. This place is built into the saddle between two hills on the edge of the ASU campus. I know as I walked around the entire area in armor. it was fun to traipse around and see what is going on out there. There is easy freeway access and a large bar scene to the southwest. I also enjoyed that they had a bunch of parking structures to help facilitate the crowds that may come to a few games here and there. The parking opens up between 5 and 7 hours before game time. Kinda crazy that you have to pay a bit extra for an early arrival but hey it is what it is. Not a huge amount of time IMHO either. I guess that is something that I find extra special about USC games. You can tailgate from 4 or 5am until whenever the game starts and after if you wish. Here that is not the same situation. The stadium itself is very tight. I havent sat int he stands so I dont know what the sight lines are like. I have been in the pressbox, admin building, visitor press area, and on the field. The stadium itself feels very close to the field, from the field. Pro Tip: They hand out mini programs as you go to your seats off of each aisle. The ingress and egress for the fans is very crowded. This is true especially for the lower levels around the field. Do not expect to be able to exit the stadium very quickly after a game. I have no idea how the upper levels enter or exit. The overall design is pretty kewl. However I wasnt too excited about the north end being on the field level and the southend being raised 15-20 feet over the field. Regardless, there is a lot to be impressed by with this stadium. I definitely like it much more than a place like UNLV, UNR, SJSU, etc. Hell I like it more than I like the Rosebowl as well. So yeah I would love to watch a game here and I would definitely enjoy heading back for another game or two. read more

Sun Devil Stadium exemplifies the scabrous spirit of major college football. Hugged by treacherous buttes and capped by an unfriendly sun, the stadium promotes one of the most overstated home-field advantages nation wide. Unfortunately, this is pretty much where it ends. The advantage, I mean. While the gold-fit student section can get raucous and humorously nasty to visitors (I know -- I used to drink 40ozs in there -- hey it was college *shrug*), the donators, alumni, tee-shirt fans, and casual observers make for an embarrassingly flat atmosphere. Sure, during the big games, there's all that standing and cheering, and drinking and ... but EVERY game in the PAC is important when we're discussing Rose Bowl implications. Still, this review should be more about the stadium itself, and the glory that she adds to the history of the game. I'm delighted to say that she's aged perfectly, and truly has the best sightlines of any college stadium I've been. It was a sad day when the cozy confines of SDS lost the Fiesta Bowl to the money-crapping machine over in Glendale. College football needs to persist in environments like these, where amenities beyond a flask and an aluminum seat are unnecessary. The concourses are still breezy and wide and getting around the stadium is very easy. I'd like to see the concession lines shorten a bit by actually employing slightly competent service workers. But that is a minor flaw. I'm only here for 3 hours, 6 days a year at maximum, anyway. I hope SDS never comes down. It won't. College football is a different animal, supported by a different kind of sports fan. Even the demented minds behind Valley planning can't muck this place up. read more
