I am specifically reviewing their Service Department. We have owned many Hondas and currently have 2 (a 2018 and a 2009.) First, they recently remodeled their location and it's very welcoming; from a comfortable waiting area, with plenty of TVs, a kid's room and work stations, to free bottled water and snacks and a coffee machine. Additionally, they will drop you off and pick you up within a 10 mile radius (Rick, one of the drivers, is great to converse with!) Unfortunately, the service associates I've dealt with have been underwhelming. This wasn't the case 5 years ago, but now the associates show you no sympathy. I brought the 2018 Civic in for a warning letter stating that a portion of the A/C system may need to be replaced and because the A/C was not blowing as cold, I thought that the warning letter was the reason the A/C wasn't working correctly. Sadly enough, I was informed by the service associate that the A/C unit was actually failing (which wasn't covered by the letter mailed out by Honda USA) and that replacement would cost over $1,700! I mentioned to the associate that A/C failure this early in the car's lifespan is unheard of and he simply said 'sorry' and asked if I wanted to pay for the fix. I ended up taking that issue to Honda USA and they graciously picked up the tab to replace the A/C unit and I only ended up having to pay $59. I did have to continue working with the same service associate that had initially quoted me $1,700 and he didn't once apologize for not offering to work with Honda USA on my behalf nor suggest I contact corporate to plead my case. This past weekend, I brought the 2008 Accord in because my power steering pump was leaking. The service associate told me that I had to accept a $150 inspection fee that does NOT go towards the cost of any repairs (meaning that this is a $150 tax on top of whatever costs are quoted for the actual repair work!) For the sake of convenience, I agreed to the $150 surcharge, but I am done with Tempe Honda's Service Department. I've had no issue with the quality of the work, but they've priced themselves out of a longstanding customer, plus their service associates couldn't care less about how much money you spend. I asked the associate to knock some money off the $950 bill to fix the power steering pump, replace the drive belt and change the oil and he knocked off $50. *TIP* The convenience of this place being open M-Sat along with the free shuttle is very tempting. If you can, I suggest taking your car to a reliable private shop (Choice Auto near ASU is great.) Of course this means that you'll either have to wait while your car is worked on or figure out a way to get to work/home and most private shops are closed on Saturday, but you'll save yourself money and hopefully send a message to Tempe Honda to stop their $150 surcharge shenanigans! read more

But better than the alternative. My wife and I visited the dealership lately about a used CRV . We took a test drive, liked the car, and eventually agreed to a price, including a trade-in. The salesman came back with purchase paperwork and that's when it all unraveled. Specifically, the salesman represented the car as certified, which of course provides peace of mind and extended warranties. When I read the CarFax report closely, though, things just didn't add up, for a car described as a single owner vehicle with no problems. Eventually, the used car manager appeared to explain what was going on, and he admitted that the car *wasn't* certified - that it wasn't worth the cost to certify it. Obviously, we called off the deal, wondering what *else* we hadn't been told. All this after a solid 2 hours of the usual "let me see what I can push for with my manager" pricing nonsense. I understand that inducing buyer exhaustion is a part of the used car sales strategy, but this was excessive. The salesman explained it as an honest mistake, and tried to salvage things by offering a '22 model for a "bargain" price, but by then we were done, and left. Very disappointed. I was in a hurry and was willing to eat that. Then I was told they could not get to my car for another 2+ hours. I asked the highly smarmy gentleman assisting me why they bothered making appointments if they could not honor them. I was given a corporate-speak answer that it had to do with customer convenience. Let me start off by saying my family has done business with this Honda for years. The service and communication were excellent, but lately the service has been less than acceptable. My husband has also been doing business with this Honda for years and in June he was in an accident. Unfortunately, his beloved civic hatchback was totaled. Our family was growing at the time so he decided to get an HRV. Recently, he was told there was a recall on it for the steering and the recall warned about potential loss of steering. This is something we wanted to fix immediately seeing that we primarily drive our infant in that car. He calls in to set up the appointment to have the recalled parts replaced and the lady on the phone told him Wednesdays are usually the days where he could get his car back sooner. Ok, great, let's do this Wednesday (today). He drives all the way there and they tell him there are no parts for the replacement and that he should have been calling every day leading up to the appointment to see if there were parts available. Excuse me?! What a complete waste of time driving all the way there, thinking there are parts ready (because WHY would they still keep the appointment if parts aren't available?!) and then being told this. How is Honda so incapable of a common courtesy call to say "hey we're sorry but we'll need to reschedule to a day when we have the parts". This is not a big ask, this is common sense. Absolutely ridiculous that Honda cannot communicate in the simplest way. Not to mention the fact that now we are worried about driving the vehicle, especially every time our infant is in the car. This is a safety concern and I am extremely disappointed in this dealership's decline in service and communication. We will be going elsewhere to do business in the future. read more

I've been doing business with Tempe Honda since late 2004 when I purchased a 2005 Honda Pilot. By the time I sold it its odometer read 498,460 miles. My next Tempe Honda was a 2016 CrV. I put 168,000 miles on it. I got it with AWD so I'd be able to go off road with it. It was a little too low to the ground though so just before Christmas last year I got a 2020 Honda CrV. It's the 2020 model that I'm leaving a review for. It has features that, frankly, I don't need or, really, want. The camera by the rear view mirror for example. Off road it's worth zip to me. I have had some near misses (accidents) driving towards Gila Bend when the car wants to steer left at the same time as opposing traffic drifts into my lane. I understand I can disable the feature but it's a hassle having to do it every time. I mention this because I felt the finance guy pushing me to buy expensive service contracts that my gut tells me I don't need given the reliability I've experienced owning four Hondas since 2004. The guy who sold me the car was really good. He got us, my wife and I, in and out within 90 minutes. I'm a bit leery about being in public spaces during the pandemic so that was a great experience not being there too long. I took the car back a few weeks ago to get the front windshield treated per the sales agreement. That was a great experience, too. I was in and out in less than an hour. What has me miffed about it is their finance guy. When I got my '16 CrV I bought gap insurance. When I paid the car off in December I mentioned it to the guy. I remember the previous finance person saying if I paid the car off early I could get a refund on the unused gap insurance. So when I was at the dealer last month getting the windshield worked on I tried reaching the finance guy to give him a copy of the 2016 Honda's title showing no liens. I wanted to give him a copy of the lender's letter stating the loan had been paid in full. In the end, via email, I was able to provide the documents last month. I have heard zip from him since. No emails. No phone calls. My family and I have purchased four Hondas, two CrVs, an Accord and a Civic. Maybe it's the pandemic that's caused the slip in customer service from their finance department. I hope that's all it is. I love going out into the desert in my CrV and taking photos of trains and saguaros. What I don't like is the feeling of being left behind by the finance guy. read more

I came here to get a second opinion, I was greeted by Fernando Salazar he was very knowledgeable and informative. I expressed my concerns due to my last service I had a couple of days ago at another Honda dealership. After doing the inspection Fernando said I only needed my brake fluid exchanged and nothing else like the other dealership had mentioned. He said I don't know what car they were looking at but you don't need anything else done but that one service. I was very pleased with him and the integrity of everyone here at Tempe Honda, Since there was six different "problem areas" reported by the last dealership which two of those I had just replaced last week and that's when I questioned the integrity of Showcase Honda. Fixing the supposedly parts and services I needed would have cost me a lot of money to fix and they were obviously unnecessary items. The service was horrible from beginning to end. I had an appointment set and drove up and was told that it could take up to 4 hours to get an oil change. Then I was told there was no shuttle as it stopped running at like 4pm and my appointment was at like 2pm. I decided that I would actually not bother with the oil change and go to another dealership praying it would be a different experience as this was my first Honda in over 10 years and was alarmed that I would have to endure this same service every 3 months. I drove back and after after waiting for a bit I asked the manager if he was aware of this experience, if Honda management was aware, why their appointments stop at 4:30pm when most people work until 5pn. The manager told me that he was aware, management/owners were aware, there are no options to extend hours or communicate shuttle hours. He told me that this is how it is every Friday and Saturday. I ended up driving 30 minutes to the Chandler Auto Nation (I live 2 minutes from the Tempe location) by the way. This was actually my first service with Honda as I bought my car in August. I will defiantly NOT be scheduling my service appointments with Tempe Honda as it sounds like this is a recurring issue and it is a shame that Honda allows this type of poor customer service be associated with their brand. Service is very important almost more important than the brand. It's a time investment and I'm not sure over 6 years you can recoup the headache and time for service. Do not go to this Honda. Every time I go there's an issue. Last time they broke my windshield and made me go through my own insurance to get it covered. Today I tried to get an oil change and they said my oil life had to be at 15% for it to be covered under Honda. Called another Honda and they said 20%. Tempe Honda could not provide a document that said anything about percentages. It honestly feels personal and idk if it's because I am a woman or what. Additionally, I have multiple recalls on my vehicle. They said they could work on one recall but not the other. If I can't go to Honda for recalls who am I supposed to go to???? I spoke to Miguel and Antonio the manager who of course sided with each other on the issue. I've never waited for my oil life to get to 15% so not sure how it was covered before. Other dealerships did not lower their price on their online price but this one did. They also kept their word when it came to servicing which meant a lot. They seem like the most sincere dealership, even if they are trying to sell you something (which is their job), they are still looking out for you and will work with you. As for their service department excellent again, what was estimated as a 1 hour and 30 minute wait time ended up being 45 minutes. Free snacks while u waitbis a nice touch. Only thing I would add is tongs to the Oreo jar to keep us customer from putting our germs in the jar when grabbing a Oreo. Other than that fantastic service remodel. My service advisor Kevin Dressler is a awesome. He listens, takes the time to explain what's going on with my vehicle. I'm in a lease and he went through some options that my husband and I should be considering as I approach the end of my lease. Just great experience all the way around. Anytime I have brought my car in to have an oil change or anything like that it has been a very pleasant experience. However a few years now have passed and when calling and interacting with the staff at this dealership the staff on the phone are extremely rude intentionally. Not as easy when you trade a vehicle .. they forgot to cancel the GAP insurance on the vehicle I traded in. I called when the old finance company sent me a notice to make sure I receive my refund. Oops they forgot, it was a $500 oops I received in the mail shortly after I called to ask them to do it. Then I got a notice from ADOT that my insurance was suspended because I didn't have insurance on the vehicle I traded. I was told at Honda that i didn't have to do anything on the vehicle I traded. Oops wrong again I was supposed to go online and cancel my plate on the vehicle I traded for another $250 refund. I don't remember it being this annoying when I bought my Honda here 2 years ago. Makes me wonder if I got my refunds back in 2017. read more

This dealership is very unprofessional. I was there for over 40 minutes and not one person approached me or asked if I needed help I stood at the front desk for 10 minutes. Nobody came, and nobody approached me so I sat at the table and waited for someone to come available so that I could test drive a vehicle and possibly purchase one when I called the manager she stated typically when somebody says done it means that they were already helped.
