From Mid March to July 3, the last 4 months has witnessed my son's rapid growth. He gladly naps at fixed time and tucks himself in. I hope this review helps other parents new to the area see what a gem this school has been for busy parents like ourselves. First is the schedule. Drop-off starts earlier than most other schools in the area, and pick-up is any time before 6pm. This translate to tangible flexibility for two working parents. We'd heard about, and experienced, other preschools with shorter hours that even take weeks off for spring and winter break like the public school calendar. Believe me when I say I'm eternally grateful we never had to manage those schedule gaps with Creative Child. Next is the physical space. The school itself feels like a home, each room beautifully decorated and cozy. The school yard is huge, with swings, slides, and a sandbox. Whenever we visit, my daughter is running and jumping through the yard with her friends like it's her own personal jungle gym. There are also add-ons we could opt into throughout the week. My daughter looked forward to Tuesday tap dancing every single week, along with Mandarin and My Gym classes. These are activities right on campus during school hours. Outside of school hours, we even got to invite her grandparents to her tap recital, and it turned into such a great family bonding moment. Creative Child doesn't feel like just a place to drop off your kid. I appreciate how intentional they are about pulling parents into the experience all year long. I did a mechanical bull ride with my daughter on Father's Day. We built gingerbread houses together during the holidays. The summer calendar get even better with magician, petting zoo, splash days, and more! The teachers are superstars here. The school is intimate enough that the teachers are familiar to all the kids, even if they're not the primary instructor for their class. So as my daughter moved up each year, she was never meeting anyone brand new, just a familiar face she hadn't had as her main teacher yet. Ms. Denise, Ms. Annie, Mr. Viet, Ms. Sharon, Ms. Susan, Ms. Jessica and Ms. Giselle all became familiar to her over the years, and I think that consistency built so much of her confidence. My daughter had trouble pronouncing her "s" sounds early on, enough that we got a professional consult just to be safe. Once she started in the Imagineer class with Ms. Denise, her speech noticeably improved week after week. I felt like she's already performing at a kindergarten level even though she's not even at that age yet. And the food deserves a mention. Ms. Rosie runs the kitchen, and she's a magician. My daughter won't touch oatmeal at home, but somehow cleans her bowl at school. We joke that we need to steal the recipes from Ms. Rosie someday, because the quality of meals in the public school system isn't even close in comparison. Lastly, getting to know the other families in our cohort made it clear we'd landed somewhere special. So many families here are rooted in the local community, and I learned so much just from talking to other parents, tips on neighborhood activities, what to expect once public school starts, from families with older siblings already there. Those are the invisible benefits nobody tells you when searching for a preschool. We definitely got more out of the school than what we paid for. Without putting on academic pressure, children learn and grow through play, and by developing a great relationship with their teachers. The focus of the events are always creating a memorable and joyful experience for the children, whether it's through showing their artwork, celebrating a holiday, or simply enjoying a meal with their friends, parents, and teachers. The school does a tremendous job in taking care of the children's nutritional needs. Lunches are cooked from scratch daily. The menu also changes daily while maintaining a balance of main dish, vegetables, fruit, and milk. Children with special nutritional needs or allergies are accounted for and considered when there are special meals or treats. Parents always have the option to opt out. Communication between teachers and parents are managed very well. Through an app, parents receive daily updates and have direct access to the teachers. My son started recently and drop off is still a bit tough on some days, we're only doing Tues Thurs so we knew it was going to take much longer to get used to than a M-F schedule. But we knew he's happy here because he comes home happy always, wants to go back, he tells us the friends he's made (he knows their names and ages, supposedly lol), and tells me about his teachers and what they did for the day. Today he told me "mom don't come pick me up, I want to stay at school". To me that's the biggest compliment a school can have. Even if we have a rough drop off day, the teachers' calm demeanor always reassure me that my son will be well taken care of, and I've yet to receive a phone call to take him home because he's too "difficult" *fingers crossed lol* Some more info as of 2024-2025 for the prospective parents out there: - Tuition is very reasonable; I won't list the fees as they're prone to change of course, but they're still some of the lowest in the area. - They have a variety of schedule so you can pretty much customize your schedule. There's TTh, MWF, and M-F. Then on each schedule you can decide on how long they attend for - 3 hrs "strictly preschool", 7 hrs "preschool and some aftercare" (they'll nap there), and full days (you can drop off as early as 7am and pick up as late as 6pm). - They have two play yards, plenty of shades, wood chips. That was one of the factors I considered when picking a preschool - I want plenty of space to play outside and the play yards here are a lot bigger than some other preschools in the area. - You have to pack the kids' breakfasts/lunches. I feed my kid breakfast at home to reduce packing needs. They have fridges and will microwave if needed. They help the kids open the containers of course. My kid has always come home with forks neatly put away in the lunch bag. - Must be potty trained. I think that's why they have kids mostly 3 and up (as of 2024 officially they take kids as young as 2 yrs 6 mo but there aren't too many potty trained 2 yr olds). On the same token the teachers that I've observed do take kids to the potty and help undress/wipe if needed - they won't leave them to their own devices (unless they're older and/or show that they can do everything on their own). - Ministry: we are not religious and don't necessarily want our son to be taught any religion at this age. I was informed they do do some songs and brief prayer (?) sessions but my son has yet tried to convert us at home (or mentions anything religious for that matter) so I'm cool with it. I was also told I could opt out and my son could just stay in the office, but since they seem pretty laid back I didn't choose to opt out. Edit #1: a month in now, all good now, he's very happy to go to school, minimal fussing at home/at drop offs, and knows all his friends' names!

My child has learned so much here, especially in STEM-related subjects. His life skills, independence, and hands-on abilities have improved tremendously. The school also provides a wide variety of enriching activities, including science fairs, carnivals, puppet shows, bubble shows, and animal petting events where the children can ride ponies and interact with rabbits and other animals. The school also hosts special Mother's Day and Father's Day breakfast events that make families feel very involved and welcomed. Every year, the winter and spring performances are what I look forward to the most. This school is a hidden little gem. It's tucked away behind the Baldwin Stocker Elementary School. We couldn't be more pleased with this school and are so sad to see him graduate to go onto kindergarten. When my son attended this school, it was called Little Stars Preschool (they are located at the same address: 1900 Bella Vista Ave, Arcadia). Sometime around last year they made administrative changes (nothing that affects parents other than how we pay tuition) which is the reason for the school name change. Here's why we absolutely LOVE Arcadia ELC: *Excellent staff- My son's teacher was Ms. Tuba, who is now an administrator in the front office. Fun fact-- Ms. Tuba has been a preschool teacher for Arcadia unified for decades! So was Ms. Vanessa, who is now the school director. *Education- Your child will come home often with beautiful artwork (many will have your child's pictures included! Perfect for memories!) This school is affiliated with Arcadia unified so your child will be well prepared for kindergarten (e.g. my daughter can count to 50, she can count from 30 backwards, she knows all her shapes [even the more advanced like hexagon, etc.], she can read, write and spell her name and other basic words). Cleanliness is a game changer for me and Arcadia ELC does a good job keeping the school in tip top shape *Low staff turnover rate- Many of the teachers have been teaching in the same facility for years! *Most importantly, the relentless love and care the entire staff will give your child. In my children, this school has instilled the love of school and learning, it's helped teach my kids how to be good and kind human begins, and it's taught them the importance of cherishing and loving oneself. All the behavioral, psychological, emotional, etc. lessons that little ones at this age need to learn will be addressed here. My kids have been fortunate enough to have classmates that are overall good, well-rounded kids. I think this is a by-product of the staff and teaching methodology here.
