    TCELA

My daughter is very introverted, and I'm truly grateful to TCELA for helping her become more confident and outgoing. She is now 7 years old and about to start second grade, but she still misses all of her teachers at TCELA -- especially Ms. Kara! This school fills every child's heart with love, kindness, and confidence. We feel so blessed to have been part of the TCELA family. Thank God!

My son attending TCELA 2 years ago and he really liked it. He called it his butterfly school. The staff and teachers are all amazing. They were all so nice and I appreciate how they sent updates and photos throughout the day.

My daughter was one of the first students at TCELA. She started there when she was only three years old and studied business in her first year. All of her teachers were so caring and dedicated. Even now, as a first grader, she still remembers her time at TCELA fondly and misses everyone there very much.

    Fun Activity

My son started this school when he was four, as his previous preschool got shut down. I felt he gained another family here through his classmates (also little friends from other classrooms), teachers and staffs. He had such a blast . This school provides learning through playing. Teachers constantly post photos and updates for the parents. And one unique thing about the school is the kids get to interact with the special needs kids. My son learnt to be extra gentle with his friends.

We thought we knew what to expect from preschool, having already sent our older son through one…read morewhen we lived in a different city, but Creative Child Preschool in Temple City still managed to pleasantly surprise us. I hope this review helps other parents new to the area see what a gem this school has been for busy parents like ourselves. First is the schedule. Drop-off starts earlier than most other schools in the area, and pick-up is any time before 6pm. This translate to tangible flexibility for two working parents. We'd heard about, and experienced, other preschools with shorter hours that even take weeks off for spring and winter break like the public school calendar. Believe me when I say I'm eternally grateful we never had to manage those schedule gaps with Creative Child. Next is the physical space. The school itself feels like a home, each room beautifully decorated and cozy. The school yard is huge, with swings, slides, and a sandbox. Whenever we visit, my daughter is running and jumping through the yard with her friends like it's her own personal jungle gym. There are also add-ons we could opt into throughout the week. My daughter looked forward to Tuesday tap dancing every single week, along with Mandarin and My Gym classes. These are activities right on campus during school hours. Outside of school hours, we even got to invite her grandparents to her tap recital, and it turned into such a great family bonding moment. Creative Child doesn't feel like just a place to drop off your kid. I appreciate how intentional they are about pulling parents into the experience all year long. I did a mechanical bull ride with my daughter on Father's Day. We built gingerbread houses together during the holidays. The summer calendar get even better with magician, petting zoo, splash days, and more! The teachers are superstars here. The school is intimate enough that the teachers are familiar to all the kids, even if they're not the primary instructor for their class. So as my daughter moved up each year, she was never meeting anyone brand new, just a familiar face she hadn't had as her main teacher yet. Ms. Denise, Ms. Annie, Mr. Viet, Ms. Sharon, Ms. Susan, Ms. Jessica and Ms. Giselle all became familiar to her over the years, and I think that consistency built so much of her confidence. My daughter had trouble pronouncing her "s" sounds early on, enough that we got a professional consult just to be safe. Once she started in the Imagineer class with Ms. Denise, her speech noticeably improved week after week. I felt like she's already performing at a kindergarten level even though she's not even at that age yet. And the food deserves a mention. Ms. Rosie runs the kitchen, and she's a magician. My daughter won't touch oatmeal at home, but somehow cleans her bowl at school. We joke that we need to steal the recipes from Ms. Rosie someday, because the quality of meals in the public school system isn't even close in comparison. Lastly, getting to know the other families in our cohort made it clear we'd landed somewhere special. So many families here are rooted in the local community, and I learned so much just from talking to other parents, tips on neighborhood activities, what to expect once public school starts, from families with older siblings already there. Those are the invisible benefits nobody tells you when searching for a preschool. We definitely got more out of the school than what we paid for. Creative Child gave us the school part and the community part, and we're genuinely going to miss it when she finally graduates and enter the public school system. Creative Child Temple City simply exceeded our expectations in every way!

Our child attended two years there and had the privilege of having Ms. Sharon, Mr. Viet, Ms. Annie, and Ms. Denise as teachers. All have done an amazing job in making our child's preschool experience an outstanding one. Classes are structured with a great balance of playing and learning whether it's in a group setting or individually. Without putting on academic pressure, children learn and grow through play, and by developing a great relationship with their teachers. A notable effort is made to offer a great variety of special events for the children and parents including holiday and themed events. The focus of the events are always creating a memorable and joyful experience for the children, whether it's through showing their artwork, celebrating a holiday, or simply enjoying a meal with their friends, parents, and teachers. The school does a tremendous job in taking care of the children's nutritional needs. Lunches are cooked from scratch daily. The menu also changes daily while maintaining a balance of main dish, vegetables, fruit, and milk. Children with special nutritional needs or allergies are accounted for and considered when there are special meals or treats. Parents always have the option to opt out. Communication between teachers and parents are managed very well. Through an app, parents receive daily updates and have direct access to the teachers. Creative Child and its entire staff have created an outstanding preschool experience for children and parents. Every teacher knows every child's name and every teacher demonstrates an extraordinary level of care for the wellbeing and enrichment of the children. I would highly recommend Creative to any parent.

In the beginning, our son (18-month old) had challenges being with a group of friends and Mr. Dave, Ms. Ranum, and teachers had so much patience and positive attitude working with my son to overcome it. He makes good friends and he loves all the teachers from three different age classes. This place makes our parenting life to have one less thing to worry about. Our child began with major separation anxiety, but thanks to the teachers who stuck by her side, she began dancing and having fun in as little as four days and the crying at drop-off stopped after 2 weeks, at which point she began to run inside to be with her teachers and friends. The facility is very clean, safe, and built with growing kids in mind. They have a really good curriculum and great activities in each classroom. In the toddler class (ages 18-36mo & where our child was) they have a 6-to-1 child/teacher ratio. If I had to complain about one thing, it's that I wish we could get more photos/videos and updates throughout the day, but since I also don't want the teachers on cell-phones all day long, it's an okay trade off knowing that our kid will come home happy everyday and sometimes with cool art projects in hand! The staff also does a great job notifying us of any incidents (booboos, bites, runny noses) that need our immediate attention or knowledge. They have a good, effective covid policy in place too and if I'm not mistaken only one child tested positive for covid since the pandemic began, but the child stayed home and quarantined. The entire school/staff was then dismissed to get tested and the results were all negative. To protect everyone, they check everyone's temps upon arrival and they won't hesitate to send children home for high temps or any covid-like symptoms. I would highly recommend anyone to come here, especially if it's their child's first school. They do a wonderful job.

Beyond academic advancement, the teachers at AMS were nurturing and incredibly supportive of his emotional development. We feel that the school curriculum is well-balanced between academics and the playtime children need to thrive. Not only do they continue to help our daughter grow and give her the personalized attention she needs in class, on the playground, in daycare. But they have gone to the whole way to the mat for her to advocate for the essential services she will need to continue to learn and grow. Our daughter may well be stronger and even safer years after she graduates from AMS because of their limitless advocating for her. Separately, our daughter is now communicating at what an independent assessment has said is a level 1.5 years above her age group. And she's an increasingly confident and determined little person. Someplace else, she might be reciting more things by rote or I don't even know what skill someone might need a toddler to have. Instead, she can and will tackle anything. It just doesn't occur to her there's something she can't do. They are an enormous part of that. And just great partners in all aspects. I'm a better mom because I know them. Arcadia Montessori school is not just a school of magnificently talented, dedicated and kind people. They *love* their students. They advocate for and protect kids way beyond what one could reasonably expect from anyone other than immediate family. They just bring tears to my eyes - more than I'd like to admit! And just yesterday when I went to pick up our daughter who otherwise has deep separation anxiety said - mama, can you come back a little later?

This daycare is one of the more reasonable price daycare around this area which is a plus.

This review is purely based off of my tour and the vibe I got. I had toured quite a few schools before enrolling my son in another preschool near our house (which we love). There were Montessori (both AMI and "inspired") schools, a posh school located in a rather affluent part of town, full immersion schools (Spanish/Mandarin). After touring so many schools, I had to say the most important thing for me is the teachers'/director's "vibe" and how well I think they will care for my child. This ain't a cram school for college. I don't need my kid to come out SAT style scoring a 1600 (or whatever the next "perfect score" will be). They need to be well cared for by loving care providers. And Playfactory had just that. Granted it was only a tour - but you can learn a lot about a place just during a thirty minute interaction. At some places I toured - kids were left crying by themselves with NO ONE checking in on them. The teachers were all there, seeing them cry, and did nothing. I really don't care if they teach Calculus, this is not acceptable. That was a hard no for me. At some other places, the director acted like my kid would be guaranteed a Harvard admission spot and sending them anywhere else would result in a detriment in their learning and development. We all know there are various ways of teaching and fostering learning. There is no one single way. I would not want my kid in a place where people think their way of doing things is superior. Hard pass. Come Playfactory - I had such a relaxing feeling the moment I spoke to Ms. Tammie. There was a girl who was crying for mom. Ms. Tammie knew her by name, crouched down and told her "I have a feeling it's almost mom time". She stopped crying immediately. When I came by the 2 year olds' classroom, this was after official school time was over so the kids were all independently playing, but they were all happy, calm, and their teacher was just around the corner prepping some stuff but always keeping an eye on them. All the teachers I interacted with were kind and seemed to not be overworked. For faculty - Playfactory gets an A+ from my tour. I also love how they have a HUGE play area. It was amazing, almost like Lacy Park vibe, which is really hard to find in most preschools. The kids do tree planting and care for their little gardens. It's the cutest thing. I am still a bit sad we didn't get to try Playfactory - not that we don't love our current school, but really the only factor that held us back from PF was the distance. I still recommend all my friends who live in the Temple City/Arcadia area to check them out.
