I am happy to share our wonderful experience with Arcadia Montessori School (AMS). Our child attended the AMS from age 3.5 through the end of kindergarten. While we initially considered several kindergarten options, we are so glad we decided to stay to maximize the benefits of a Montessori education. Beyond academic advancement, the teachers at AMS were nurturing and incredibly supportive of his emotional development. We feel that the school curriculum is well-balanced between academics and the playtime children need to thrive. They have a wonderful backyard with playgrounds, and our son loved playing outside every day the weather permitted. Though we initially worried about his transition to a public first grade, he adjusted quickly and smoothly. We have seen his creativity and love for learning truly bloom over the past year. Update - over the last few months the school director, Cheryl Roberts and the lead teacher, Fernanda Cuevas have gone so far and above what I could ever hope for from any school. Not only do they continue to help our daughter grow and give her the personalized attention she needs in class, on the playground, in daycare. But they have gone to the whole way to the mat for her to advocate for the essential services she will need to continue to learn and grow. Our daughter may well be stronger and even safer years after she graduates from AMS because of their limitless advocating for her. Separately, our daughter is now communicating at what an independent assessment has said is a level 1.5 years above her age group. And she's an increasingly confident and determined little person. Someplace else, she might be reciting more things by rote or I don't even know what skill someone might need a toddler to have. Instead, she can and will tackle anything. It just doesn't occur to her there's something she can't do. They are an enormous part of that. And just great partners in all aspects. I'm a better mom because I know them. Arcadia Montessori school is not just a school of magnificently talented, dedicated and kind people. They *love* their students. They advocate for and protect kids way beyond what one could reasonably expect from anyone other than immediate family. They just bring tears to my eyes - more than I'd like to admit! Both of our kids have attended Arcadia Montessori School and we could not recommend this school more for young families. Both kids started at AMS around the age of 2.5, after they were potty trained. Both absolutely thrived in this environment and saw incredible development milestones throughout their time at AMS. The teachers and administration at this school are simply incredible. Each teacher and administrator showed an incredible amount of genuine attention and affection for our children. As children move through the school, through the different classes across age ranges, and through their development, each teacher has age-appropriate and individual child specific support for the little ones. We unfortunately started at this school during Covid so we had limited access and engagement early on. However, as things reopened, we had an ability to come to the school for events, come make independent visits, and engage more in the day-to-day activities of our kids. Under the leadership of Mrs. Cheryl Roberts, our children were provided with an incredibly supportive environment to learn, grow, and to most importantly be kids. Our children showed incredible development throughout their time at AMS. We looked high and low in our area (Pasadena/Sierra Madre/Arcadia) for a preschool for our daughter. After a not-so-great year at a Montessori in Sierra Madre (teachers could not handle our energetic girl and communication was terrible) we were determined to find a better fit. She thrived in the Montessori environment so when a friend recommended this Montessori school in Arcadia we were happy to tour it. From day one the director Cheryl was very attentive- she showed us around the school and spent over an hour chatting with me. Maria at the front office is an absolute joy every time I call in or come to drop off/pick up my child. The teachers are SUPER experienced and have no trouble handling my daughter. They are a wonderful balance of warm and grounded, very dedicated. When we go to the Open Houses our daughter is overjoyed to show us around and show us her projects (which are all SO COOL!!). She never wants to leave- she enjoys playing with the Montessori "toys" so much! We can not recommend this school enough! If you're considering please go for a tour. You'll love it! My son loves all three of his teachers. His mom and I do too, great school My son joined the school when he was two years old, could eat on his own and was toilet trained. The teacher took our whole family to visit the school and talked to us face to face. We started from the summer class, and in a blink of an eye, we have been in school for a year. We were able to go to the hallway and see our son in the classroom during school hours, and he had made great progress, from crying to coming to school to handing out trays at lunch time. Our daughter attended the Arcadia Montessori School from 2-5 YO. We had previously tried different day cares and schools and none matched up to Arcadia Montessori School. All the teachers and staff are absolutely amazing. They all cared so much for our daughter and all the students there. The curriculum is also top notch. After graduating, she was able to understand and speak English confidently, at a level comparable to local English speakers. All the teachers are incredibly kind, patient, and supportive. I feel so blessed that I was able to send both of my little boys through Arcadia Montessori School (AMS). We secured our spot here when our first born was only shy of 1 yr old. Mrs. Roberts, Ms. Maria and all of the teachers welcomed us so much so, that we just knew this would be the starting educational foundation for our boys. Even throughout COVID- our boys (who both started as soon as they turned 2), developed socially and independently in such a beautiful way. They're cognitive, fine motor skills, phonetic, numerical sense all developed here with this amazing set of teachers. The craft projects each teacher takes the time to build with their students shows how much thoughtfulness and attention they put into their lessons. I really appreciated the observation windows where I was able to visit and watch my little ones work and socialize. There really aren't many schools where we could do this, so I cherished this and took advantage whenever I could getaway from work! I also really appreciated the culturally diverse group of both teachers and students that followed them through their first chapter of education. The exceptional care and sincere joy of welcoming our little boys every single day, is something that I will forever cherish (on top of the rich academics they received daily). We've had our son going to Arcadia Montessori School from when he was almost 3 years old until now, as he's approaching 5 years old. The experience has been great, as our son has learned so much during his time here. He's always excited to go and see his friends, as well as learn from the kind and supportive teachers there. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for Arcadia Montessori School (AMS). First, AMS is a "real" Montessori school (not all with the name Montessori are--who knew?). This means the Montessori philosophy and practice are followed at AMS, and children are treated like little human beings (because of course they are!). Next, the school is safe, clean, and orderly. Before AMS, my children were enrolled at another school which was quite disorderly and my kids started bringing home some of these qualities in their attitudes and behavior. We were also "promised" that the kids would be learning academics, and they showed no signs of advancement. I knew we had to change their school. I found AMS online and came in for a tour. From the moment I stepped in, I knew things were different and I wanted my children there. The children were calmly working and kindly sharing supplies. The teachers squatted down to talk to the kids at their physical level. The rooms were colorful and stocked with books, learning toys, and inspirational activities. The toilets were clean, the classrooms had no "toilet training" odor (lol), and the backyard was equipped with two playgrounds with plenty of space along with two shade trees for the children to play under. My children have now been at AMS for one year and I couldn't be happier. The level of care, respect, and communication at the school are (unfortunately) almost considered "old-fashioned" these days. If there is ever a question or concern, a teacher or administrator will call me right away to make sure we are all on the same page. And yes, my children are now bringing home "good" behavior and practicing at home what they've learned in school (alphabet, numbers, time, days of the week). Finally, I want to applaud AMS for their high-caliber safety protocols after the Eaton Fire. After the fires subsided, Cheryl, the school director, took the initiative to completely swap out the wood chips on the playground, power wash the equipment, and have new air conditioners and air filters installed so that the children don't just "look" safe, but are actually safe from microscopic contaminants. I know that my children are not just "dollar signs" in eyes of the administration and faculty at this school and it makes all the difference. read more

Let me begin by proudly saying that I am an alum of Arcadia Montessori School. I first walked through its doors 23 years ago, at the age of two - how time flies! AMS gave me a strong foundation in critical thinking, especially in math and reading, which I believe has been instrumental to my success throughout my academic journey. The teachers at AMS encouraged independent thought, creativity, and open-mindedness - qualities that continue to shape the way I approach challenges today. Starting from a young age, I have been prone to chronic boredom and restlessness, but I still have vivid and fond memories of feeling mentally stimulated at AMS. Whether it was arts and crafts, reading phonics booklets, or counting beads on a bead frame, there was always something to engage my curious mind. One of my favorite lessons was learning about the life cycles of animals. My parents still recall how I used to feel disappointed that I couldn't go to school during the weekend! I left AMS at the age of six to attend elementary school and I still feel that I was well prepared and ahead in math and reading comprehension. Perhaps one of the most lasting lessons I took from AMS is the importance of perseverance, especially the "finish what you started" mindset that has stayed with me ever since. Though many years have passed since I attended AMS, I'm happy to share my thoughts on two wonderful educators: Mrs. Roberts and Ms. Valencia. Mrs. Roberts, who was my principal then and still leads the school today, has always been warm, encouraging, and deeply invested in the well-being of every student. I occasionally stop by to say hello, and her kindness never fails to stand out. Ms. Valencia was one of my teachers, and she continues to teach at AMS. I still remember the joy of working on reading and writing assignments in her class. THE BEST!!! My daughter has attended AMS from age 2-5 where she attended pre-school, daycare AND summer school. She is just finishing her final year at AMS where is enrolled in their TK program. She will be moving on to Kindergarten at public school and she is absolutely prepared both academically, and socially. As part of Montessori philosophy she also received valuable practical skills that have contributed to well-rounded development. She also had FUN! My daughter really loves her preschool. When she first started she was a very shy and anxious kid. She cried for a week. But the teachers are very patient and kind. They hugged her and comforted her throughout the day. They tried to comfort her until she blends in. Mrs.Brown, Mrs.Quevas and Mrs.Jolly are excellent teachers! Valerie always talks about how much she loves her teachers. All the teachers and Mrs.Roberts and Maria are always there to meet the children in the morning. I really like the fact that their playground is in the back of the school and strangers cannot see them when they play. We love Arcadia Montessori School! Both of my daughters attended Arcadia Montessori as soon as they were 2 years old. It was both of their first experiences in a school setting so we made sure to do our research. We visited many preschools and this was the school that both my husband and I felt would be the best fit for our family. When we visited, we immediately felt comfortable in the setting (clean, organized, cheerful,) and with the teachers, staff and director. Both of my girls grew to love their teachers and they flourished there academically and socially. We always felt like the teachers had our kids' best interest in mind, and most importantly, they were lovingly cared for. We sadly had to say goodbye to the school after my daughters "graduated" to public school, but we believe we've made lifelong friends with Mrs. Roberts (director) and the wonderful teachers there at Arcadia Montessori. My older son has been in this school for a year, and I registered my younger son to attend this fall too. This is a very good school for several reasons. First, the owner is visible and responsible. Unlike many other schools, the owner just invests money and hire a director then he/she does not show up. Mrs. Robert considers children always first, she is well educated and sophisticated. Also, the teachers in this school are nice and full of love. I know most the teachers worked here for more than 20 years, they love this school as their own. I am an educator, as a Montessori teacher so I know this is a good school. My son is happy and well disciplined and definitely learned in academics. What I love most about this school is they never charge late pick up fees (because most schools charge $1/minute for late pickup), you will feel comfortable and no-pressure with this school. read more

This review is long overdue. My 3yr old daughter has been attending Mrs. Robert's school for the last 8 months, and we couldn't be more happy. My husband and I are typical type A parents that did a lot of research (especially during COVID) to ensure we found the right place for little one to grow and thrive safely. Cheryl and her staff have done an incredible job every step of the way in keeping the children and staff safe and still providing the children an environment in which they can learn and develop as the should be even in these trying times. The school is constantly in contact with the county health officials and they update the parents regularly on what is happening in preschools/how it impacts the protocols in the school. They really make parents feel like their child has a safe space to learn. We believe deeply in the Montessori way of learning and our daughter's development since joining this school speaks volumes to us. She is extremely independent, confident and is learning so much all the time. We are amazed at how much she's doing at just 3.5 yrs old and we truly appreciate all the feedback and communication her teachers give us when we have questions. My daughters attended this wonderful gem of a school from ages 3 to 6. Mrs. Roberts, the school's director, and each of the educators have decades of experience and are attentive about communicating with parents and giving thoughtful feedback. Students have the freedom to choose the Montessori materials that they want to work with during the day, while receiving teacher instruction at lesson time, along with plenty of time for fun. The school's forte is phonics and both my girls are now accomplished readers. Arcadia Montessori exudes warmth and coziness. Its classrooms and outdoor play area are very well-maintained. After attending this school for 4 years, I believe that I was given a head start compared to my peers. With the school's supportive atmosphere, daily routines, and outstanding curriculum, I learned organizational tools and problem solving techniques even as a young kid.
