My cousin and I had a very nice brunch at Temple Court. We walked in for a late meal during a Sunday snowstorm and had no trouble getting a table. The jazz brunch menu was being served until 3pm. The atmosphere was wonderful, featuring live music for part of our stay, a vintage elegant ambiance, and impressive architecture. However, the restaurant was incredibly cold. While the snowstorm may have played a part, I noticed one other reviewer mentioning the freezing temperature as well. For my meal, I ordered the smoked salmon toast and a side of chicken apple sausage. The toast, which cost $23, came with cream cheese, pickled red onions, and caper berries. I was pleasantly surprised by the very generous portion of high-quality, buttery salmon and the substantial size of the dish. While the menu didn't list the type of bread, it seemed to be a multigrain with the right thickness and a nice crunch, though the outer edges were a bit too hard. The tang from the onions and the unique caper berries were nice touches, and I would definitely order this again. The side of chicken apple sausage was good and reportedly house-made, but it was fairly standard. I also enjoyed a genmaicha tea that was served at my ideal temperature and in a teapot, which provided several servings. My cousin ordered the country omelette, which he enjoyed, though he felt it wasn't quite worth the price. He also had a cappuccino that he found disappointing, noting an unpleasant aftertaste and a texture that suggested the beans weren't properly ground. I was really excited to come try out breakfast at one of the coolest hotels in NYC. The Beekman Hotel is a well known place here. It has alot of history to it. I came here on a holiday weekend. The like lounge part area/bar is a cool area to sit in depending on where you sit as there is a part of the area where if you look up the balconies just make a cool view. Anyways, they sat me in another area where I was seated in a booth area by the window. Location of the table was fine but wow the couch that they have for the booth is so very u comfortable. I don't know if it was just my side but it was low to the ground and like very worn in. I was like sinking into the couch. It actually made my back hurt more than it does regularly. I ordered the Beekman breakfast I think it was called. It was scrambled eggs with asparagus and bacon, and mushrooms. I asked for no mushrooms. So the dish comes out and it looks good. I take a bite and the eggs seemed like not to be fresh they tasted like they were microwaved or something and the bacon were more like bacon bit pieces which I thought they were going to be like actual bacon pieces. The food was pretty salty and just not that good. The service was pretty slow and my waitress never came over to check on how I was doing or if I needed anything. I had to get another person attention when I wanted the check and then like another person brought me the check. It was all just soo odd. The meal came with a choice of juice so I got orange juice. I also got an iced latte. Would I come back here for brunch and try out something else... nope I am all set especially with the prices that the food is. 5 stars across the board: food, service and ambience. I was happy to revisit Temple Court for Restaurant Week recently. I highly recommend checking them out during RW which for Temple Court runs through the end of August (not August 17th, the official end of RW). My dining partner never experienced Temple Court so the stakes were high and Temple Court certainly didn't disappoint. Upon entrance, the dining area was breathtaking but I already knew that. Service was above and beyond and there was no hesitation from the server to offer wine samples when making a vintage decision. I had a lovely Rose to accompany my 3 course meal. But before that, an Amuse Bouche of Chilled Zucchini Soup was brought to the table. It was unlike anything I've ever tasted. I could easily have had a proper portion of it. Next, a flaky, buttery roll. Decadent and delicious. We were off to an amazing start. For appetizer, we both chose the Agnoletti which was Ricotta pasta pockets smothered with roasted corn. Delicate and excellent. I knew I wanted seafood for my main and selected the Roasted Cod. There were some selections that had a supplemental charge, example the Swordfish which was an additional $10. We both enjoyed the Cod which was seared ever so lightly with eggplant and zucchini ringlets laying on top. It was accurately described as prepared in a light broth. For dessert, I chose the Chocolate Panna Cotta which was outstanding. Smothered with Chocolate and Strawberries, it was the perfect finish. The other dessert selection was Tres Leches. Though I sampled a tiny bite, I was content with my dessert. Service was outstanding. One manager checked in with us to apologize for the slight delay of the dessert not coming out sooner. Truth be told, we appreciated a bit of a lull since we were getting full. Water glasses were never empty and finally, another manager dropped by as we were wrapping up /getting ready to leave. He wanted our feedback on our dining experience. Amazing food and experience with an ethereal like atmosphere. I cannot speak more highly of Temple Court. A must visit. read more

3 stars and disappointed. We came here during Christmas for the jazz brunch. Jazz was great, the perfect level of sound. Unfortunately, the hotel needs a refresh. It's exceptionally dark inside -- not just the wood and furniture -- but there's a dearth of lighting. Additionally, the chairs are stooped so low that it's difficult to have a conversation or get comfortable. We ordered the brunch menu, and our food came out timely. Unfortunately, I ordered an egg dish that when presented to me was the wrong dish. I sent it back in hopes of obtaining what I actually ordered and did receive the correct order, but it came too late to be enjoyed with my partner. The mismatch in timing and order really made for an unpleasant dining experience. The food itself was very mediocre and confirms my prior belief that brunch food can and should be made at home at a significantly more reasonable price point. Also disappointed that the juices on the menu are not fresh pressed, as I would have thought for an upscale establishment. Overall, the service left a lot to be desired, as did the food. read more

First and foremost, Temple Court is absolutely beautiful and has a stunning atrium that is worthy of visiting. It was quite busy on a Friday night but I managed to get a seat at the bar. I ordered the Pablo Neruda cocktail and the steak tartare. The cocktail was quite tasty but wasn't strong at all despite having tequila, mezcal, and vermouth. The steak tartare was delicious and I loved the use of pickles in addition to the egg (which some places forget)! The chips were also a nice touch. All in all, I'd definitely visit and try other cocktails + try their soufflé when it comes back on the dessert menu. read more

Went here for restaurant week. Want to take your date on a cute and romantic spot. This could be the spot. Look at all the chandeliers, stained glass, and dimmed lighting. It's perfect for a romantic date. The only problem is ... A lot of the food that we ordered were on the saltier end. We overheard the table next to us having the same issue and the staff was really professional and apologetic about it. So they offered to take it back and re-prepare it to their liking. Additionally, the staff was really friendly. However, I think this is a check it out once for me, especially for this price point. Excellent spot where the beekman breakfast is offered. The smoked whitefish Benedict is great and so is the rhubarb strawberry jam. The juice with lavender is unlike anything that I have ever tried. Bagels are a must and even though you're still seven plus hours away from Paris the chocolate croissant was surprisingly good. Service was decent and knowledgeable about the menu. Word to the wise: the breakfast menu skews savory and the space where you eat is quite majestic and feels like you're dining in the past think +150 years ago. Highly recommended. I ordered the hangar steak with creamy spinach and corn on the side. The corn was far too lemony and unpleasant, while the spinach was nearly inedible due to excessive salt. Overall, not an enjoyable meal. The ambiance itself is lovely and the staff were attentive, but the food fell short of expectations. The service was very attentive and they checked on us multiple times throughout the night. I got the octopus, scallops with pork belly ($10 extra), and the matcha olive oil cake. My friend go the hamachi, pork chop and the chocolate mille feuille They started us off with bread and a sweet potato soup with smoked apple oil. The soup was very creamy and the smoked apple oil was distinct. We enjoyed the meal. The pork belly and pork chop was too fatty for us, but otherwise everything had a great flavor, was well prepared, and a decent portion size. What a let down. Food was overpriced (even for nyc standards) and mediocre at best. The real issue here was the service from the bartenders. Took 15m for them to even come up to me and I wasn't looking at the menu.... Was trying to get their attention the whole time but they were too busy chatting. There were 4 bartenders and only about 4 people at the bar. I train bartenders everyday for my job and these were some of the worst I've encountered. They never asked how my food was (again, mediocre) and just seemed too busy chatting to do their job correctly. Lastly, they charged me $6 for a glass of sparkling water. If you're going to charge for water, which is fine, atleast give me the bottle. A glass of seltzer for $6 is ridiculous, it's not even about the price but the principal. Go next door to Le Gratin. Celebrated my birthday dinner here while visiting the city. The food was delicious. Beautiful ambiance and great service. I was greeted with a birthday card from our server. Nice Touch! Only downside of the meal was that they were out of the drink I wanted (John F. Fitzgerald) but what I did order instead, the Pablo neruda was good! I fell in love with the vision that Tom Colicchio put into this restaurant, even before he became a so-called "celebrity chef." Beyond the unique Classic and Victorian decor to the breathtaking view of the nine-story atrium, the food remained consistent, unique, and appealing even for the limited 3-course set menu for restaurant week! Dinner for two, we decided to share each selection to taste all the menu had to offer. We started with the burrata with heirloom tomato salad and grilled octopus, followed by the peach-infused pork chop and lemon zest cod, and finished with the strawberry shortbread cookie and chocolate hazelnut mousse cake. Even if cooked to the right temperature the flavor still would have been lack luster. The soup has to have been the worst part of the meal. This place is stunningly beautiful with an aged classiness only found downtown. The restaurant is within the Beekman Hotel and the food was amazing. We went here for breakfast and I got the "something" madam it was fresh sourdough toasted with smoked ham and sunny-side up eggs with a gruyere chcheese sauce... it was one of the best breakfasts of my life. Been planning on dining here for a while. Our niece used to baby sit for Tom Colicchio, so why not try his restaurant? We were celebrating a birthday, and found this location worked well for us. A mid-week dinnerand this place was bustling. Located adjacent to the Beekman Hotel, it is fancy shmancy with a pricetag to suit. We were seated right away, and the service is attentive. I found the noise level to be deafening, and that is not to say background music is too loud. The interior drsigners for these restaurants and bars really need to consider acoustics, as the reflective hard surfaces make conversation unintelligable. The lamb was very good but my wife found it to be a bit overseasoned. I liked my pork chop though. The gazpacho to start off was a small serving size, but potent flavorwise. Be sure to visit the restroom in the hotel bar next door and grab a view of the historic atrium when you look up. read more

There is a great band on the weekends for brunch that takes you back to the roaring 20s. Kind of interesting to get a glimpse of what life looked like and how dining was an art during that time. The portions are good so you are not overly stuffed. The mocktail summer vacation was so good! There wasn't anything we had that wasn't good and flavorful. The decor was amazing. Came here for jazz brunch on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately they play music through the overhead speakers while the jazz band is playing ?????? It was so odd and rude to the band honestly. also dont advertise a jazz brunch and have other music playing. just weird! The seating was odd to say the least. The chairs were all SO low compared to the tables and sunk down even more when you sat on them. We were chest level with the table. I could barely reach my food. We got the French toast to share which was divine! definitely recommend. i got an almond milk latte that was also really well done. we got the egg white omelette and it was one of the best ive ever had. i was worried it would be dry and it was not. my brother ordered the ancient grain& sunny side up egg and said it was good but nothing special. also he asked for sugar with his coffee and they did not bring a spoon to stir it with! for a higher end establishment this was a strange thing to miss. the single restroom sink did not work. the wait staff is fine. not very personable. all business. we are glad we went for the experience. the jazz was great we just wish there wasn't music playing over it. would go back and just get coffee and a light bite maybe. but i think this place is trying to present itself as high end and worth $$$$ but its just a regular $$/$$$ spot dressed up in fancy clothes. read more

My friend was a bit cold from the AC and the staff brought over a blanket for her, before she even asked. The drinks were great, but the food left something to be desired. We ordered the Mushroom à la Grecque, Denver Wagyu, and scallops, and unfortunately, everything was a bit over seasoned. For dessert, we had the Pistachio Chocolate Tart, which ended up being a little too sweet. Overall, I would comeback for the ambiance and cocktails but might skip the food next time. read more

Late review. Came for RW with the ladies. They are one of the few that allows you to order from the regular menu plus they did give my friend a birthday card and sang to her, so 4 stars. The portions are generous and the food is served promptly. Ambiance is beautiful and great for a birthday celebration. The only thing I want to bring up is how salty a lot of the items are. For appetizers, we got almost everything on the menu since there were five of us. My favorites were the tartare and pasta. The arugula salad was a salt lick - the dressing plus the Parmesan cheese made the salad so salty it was inedible. However this was resolved with a quick note to our waiter who kindly replaced our salad and put the cheese separately (we didn't use it). For mains, the standouts were the seafood dishes - cod and scallop dishes were amazing. The lamb was delicious too and a very generous portion. The pork chop was cooked to the most perfect temp and was tender and juicy. I wasn't that impressed with the beef which I felt was outshined by the other mains. Many of the choices had additional supplemental charges from $5-$15, so make your choice wisely. Dessert was lovely and a great ending to the night. read more

We came here for my daughter's 16th birthday. We were searching and searching for restaurants online and my wife happen to see pictures of the wall of books and stained glass. Classy and out of this world quality and service. My youngest chose lobster salad and mushroom side. Oldest went with a mushroom starter and my wife had the diver scallops. I had the halibut- we were all impressed. The deviled egg (quail?) was a great beginning. Four waiters brought our dishes out and the BEST part?? Everyone from the restaurant signed a birthday card for my daughter. No tacky singing- just a high class card and simple candle when we had desert. We were staying at the Beekman and came here for breakfast. Not sure if this is the regular breakfast place, because a pipe broke and there had been a flood. So things were def in flux... and it showed. The host stand is on the street side, not the hotel side, so if you come down the elevators, you have to walk through the whole restaurant to find the host stand. Then they were vague on timing but said maybe 20 to 30 minutes wait. So we started waiting... after 15 mintes they said our table opened but had to be cleaned, which took another 10 minutes. Then we got seated but waited another 10 minutes for our server.... finally we were able to order... but then the food came slowly. Service was a solid 2 stars. Food was avocado toast for one person, Beekman Breakfast for 2 others, French Toast for a fourth and Salmon plate for me. The Salmon was good but didn't have enough cream cheese with it. The avocado toast was bustin'. The potatoes with the Beekman breakfast were undercooked and weird. French toast was good. Food overall was about a 3.5. Then the bill came....$175 and a $30 tip got the total to $205. That averaged $40 a person. And yes the 2 kids got orange juice, and there was a spare yogurt granola bowl ordered. And yes it is New York. But I am sorry... that is just too much for what we got. So two stars. Would try to never go back. In fact, I think there is a Starbuck's across the street.... read more
