Yikes- what a bizarre and disappointing experience. Prospective members beware that this facility does not honor their own membership terms- nor do they upkeep or maintain their fitness center. We were happy members of TTR for about a year and a half. The outdoor facility is (mostly) a beautiful and well-maintained facility for tennis and pickleball. The pool is great. Our dues have over doubled since joining- from $85 for a Pickleball membership for two, to now $160. I am totally fine with raising prices as amenities increase- however, TTR is not maintaining the facility. Their (already small, always dusty, and limited) fitness center has deteriorated dramatically recently, with at least one (out of three) popular treadmills out of order for the past 6+ months- including one of them for several months at a stretch with no ETA. More recently, 2/3 have been wholly removed after breaking down. I visit once a week for weight training, and we play pickleball once a week- however, I primarily maintained this membership due to the previous availability of treadmills. We clean up after ourselves and are respectful of equipment and shared spaces. In January, two of their treadmills broke- meaning that if you go to the gym, odds are you will have to either use a weird niche elliptical (theirs are not modern or appealing) or do something else entirely. The straw that broke the camel's back for us was that we politely asked to hold our membership for two months, submitting our request via a dedicated online membership hold request form- an option clearly available, with a nominal hold fee, in their membership terms. The staff, who we'd always found to be friendly enough in person, was abrupt in immediately informing us that holds do not exist (it is a dedicated request form on their own web site...?), telling us to instead terminate our membership. I shared a screenshot of their own policy, within their web page, thinking that they were mistaken or confused, to which they responded that holds are only for post-surgery or due to injury with a doctor's note. This is very clearly not the case within their own terms and conditions- see screenshot. They specify only that a hold *can* be extended beyond 3 months if due to injury, but not that it is a pre-requisite for a hold. I asked for additional clarity in where this is indicated, and for them to please revisit my request, again respectfully, and my initial question was ignored- the second attempt to follow up when ignored was met again with only the link to terminate the membership. Zero response from there, despite a final attempt. Ironically, I have an injury requiring an impending MRI which prevents me from fully utilizing the benefits of this membership- but the attitude and immediate abrasiveness from their staff left such a gross taste in our mouths that we did not bother to disclose this. What a fascinating business model, pushing your members to quit and stonewalling when asked to answer basic questions regarding your own policies. We will gladly take our business elsewhere and share our experience with others as a cautionary experience, as they seem to desire their current members do, but man, what a trip. I wholly do NOT recommend TTR for the poor upkeep of the fitness center and bizarre, poor customer/member service. ------ Editing in response to the GM, who I have also messaged directly with additional information and the offer of forwarding his staff's emails in case helpful: My dues did not increase $75 within a single month, nor did I state that they had. That increase from $85 to $160 (for a couple) took place in increments over the course of a year and a half. I had no complaints about this until the fitness center fell apart and the customer service experience revealed itself to be a disaster. Price increases over time are expected if a place is maintained properly (*if), especially with the pool opening. However- I am not going to the trouble of holding or paying for a membership in the future at this establishment considering the poor member experience and customer service experience. I did not mention my injury, because no policy available to members indicated the need to. My advice for management: Maybe invest in hiring staff that isn't chasing your membership out the door as quickly and rudely as they can? read more

My husband and I have been members of Templeton Tennis Ranch since the club opened 10 years ago. I've played tennis and pickleball at a number of other facilities/clubs throughout the county, but this club is one of the best. The location is so serene with it's large oak trees. And TTR has some of the nicest tennis players. I feel that the club is my happy place. I also want to give a shout out to the aquatics instructor, Janice, who is awesome. Her class is a total body cardio workout that accommodates all fitness levels. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a low impact fitness class that builds muscle and cardio. I also want to acknowledge TTR's general manager Chris for all that you and your staff do to make TTR a welcoming place. I have always found you to be responsive to any concerns or issues raised. Templeton Tennis Ranch is a nice facility, friendly staff, but unfortunately has bad management. If you're a pickleball player, you're a second class citizen to mgmt. You're not "high class" like tennis and they have a negative stereotype view of you. They talk a big game, but ultimately do the bare minimum for pickleball players. Several people have tried organizing weekly games there, but mgmt continued to throw obstacles and wrenches to force membership, rather than entice it. Such a shame, given the growth of pickleball and the opportunity for this facility. read more

First time at the Templeton Tennis Ranch was great! We joined the Summer Bocce Ball League and had a blast playing on their 4 regulation courts. They have picnic tables next to the courts and we were able to bring our own food to enjoy. The courts are covered with lots of tall trees which shade the area and keep things cool. We haven't explored the rest of the facility but hope to soon! read more

This beautiful facility is set amongst the oak trees and a membership here is the best mini-retreat you can give yourself. It's erfect for getting into good exercise habits in a low pressure environment and great for the nervous system with the spa, sauna, and views of nature. Staff are responsive and the programming in the pool, on the court, and otherwise is top notch. read more

Attended a wedding here. The wedding and reception were absolutely beautiful thanks to good planning and creativity on the bride and groom's end. It was the perfect size space for everyone and we all had a great time. Most importantly, the bride and groom had an amazing night celebrating. However, the staff seemed to cause a headache or two throughout the evening. The wedding coordinator was rude and needed frequent reminders and repeated instruction of how to complete simple tasks. Very disappointed with the service and lack of initiative. The wedding coordinator actually said that she couldn't wait for this wedding to be over in front of the family of the bride. So unprofessional. The website also advertises that there is an indoor reception space which is totally false. Overall, a promising space but deceitful practices. read more

I cannot say enough about TTR. From the facility to the coaches and staff and programs they offer, they are top notch! Our daughter asked for tennis lessons back in June, so we decided to check into the club. We enrolled her in clinics and got her a PeeWee membership. Since joining, she has attended weekly clinics and a couple of their summer tennis camps. In this short time, her love for tennis has grown and she's begun taking private lessons. To say this has been a blessing during Covid is an understatement. The skills she is learning her will follow her as she grows. She has loved this experience and I can absolutely say that it because of the staff and programs at TTR! read more

Awesome venue! Attended the ITF women's circuit tournament here and was very pleased with everything. The staff was awesome, friendly, and professional. The venue was clean, welcoming, and a great place to catch some pro tennis or to get in a couple rounds yourself! The tri-tip tacos were good and I was told that the booze selection was also top notch. They run a tight ship here. I'll definitely be back! My wife and I had our wedding here in October of 2021. The staff was amazing! Chris, the general manager, helped us from the very beginning with booking the date, going over contracts, and all of the planning in preparation months ahead, preparation the days leading up, and all of the help during and cleaning up after! Ana, our day-of coordinator through TTR, was amazing and was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process (not to mention killing it the day of!)! They were incredibly quick with communication and open with their availability and it helped everything move smoothly!! The ceremony and reception areas were both beautiful and the rest of the Ranch was incredibly accommodating and elegant! The atmosphere (including lights, weather, heaters, dance floor, landscaping, tables, and decorations) was amazing and I appreciate the help and accommodation they all offered my family in terms of storage and ease of locating everything. This is a review for my event experience only--I did not play tennis here. I attended a wedding here, and I was pretty disappointed by a number of elements from the event planning team, including: -Unsafe food practices: The food was not great, but I think that's forgivable. What is not okay is not having enough hot pans for heated dishes and serving room temperature perishables, like meat and dairy-based foods. I'll also note that when a hair was found in the coleslaw, the server's first reaction was to stir the coleslaw up to hide any additional debris. -Visible and unrestricted construction area: A partially-graded building pad was visible and accessible from all areas of the venue. (I'll add that this is for an event space advertised to have opened in Spring 2019.) The wedding had several small children, and any of them could have fallen in the open trench. -Poor communication: At one point, the wedding party seemed a concerned. I asked if I could help, and they replied that the wedding coordinator left well before the wedding ended. She was the point of contact between the guests and the staff, and it was clear that her absence degraded the experience of the wedding party. As far as pros go, I will say that the staff that was present were trying to manage as best as they could. They stayed kind and courteous throughout the night, but they needed more direction to pull off a successful event. I hope the event team considers the above comments for the safety of future guests. read more

I had a very great experience learning Pickleball with Gary. He was so funny and definitely helped drill the rules into my brain. I feel like I might be able to play a game or two without him watching! It's a great sport that combines tennis, badminton, and table tennis (aka ping pong) using a paddle and a wiffleball-type-ball. The court is about 1/4 of a tennis court and so much easier to navigate. The hardest part for me was not hitting the ball so hard. The facilities are impeccable and the grounds feel like you're in the middle of the forest. I can't wait to come back and try the fitness area and the sauna. I had some food at the cafe, which was delicious as well. read more

Went to the central coast tennis tour. The club is beautiful. The staff was very accommodating. Enjoyed it so much ! Defiantly returning . However the food was really bad. Can't leave to go eat. So if you go bring your own food!! read more

Awesome find! Visitors to Paso Robles will never leave if you love tennis like our family. Coach Scott and his team are so professional and friendly. Played a tennis clinic and then my kids joined one in the afternoon. Beautiful facility but staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive as well. Visit and play. Or if you live here join!
