Ending the day in the hot tub while taking in the endless mountain views was the perfect way to relax. Every moment felt peaceful and unforgettable. We can't wait to come back!

We chose this home because of its proximity to the hiking spots we wanted to explore, and it didn't disappoint. The house itself was lovely, comfortable, and well-equipped. We especially appreciated having a full kitchen for making breakfast together and enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably--perfect for a group getaway. It's also ideally located--just 10 minutes from Blowing Rock with great restaurants, about 20 minutes to Boone, and only 30 minutes from Grandfather Mountain. It made getting around to all our planned activities quick and easy. Overall, this was the perfect home base for a fun and relaxing girls' weekend. Highly recommend!

As a minority, I was incredibly suspicious that something could go south quickly. But, I was just being a judgmental ahole and this place was pretty awesome. I mean, it's straight out of something you'd see in like My Cousin Vinny or Deliverance... well, maybe not Deliverance, but you get the idea. It obviously has tons of history and visitors who leave patches and basic campground needs, etc. They sell cheap hotdogs that taste as cheaply as what you paid for them, but in a good way. The whole place is a bit of a time capsule and if you're going to be hiking in the area, you have to stop here and have a hotdog and coke on the porch. It's pretty sweet.

Accomodations were perfect, super cozy and they have a breakfast nook that offers a continental breakfast, just enough to get you going. The receptionist was really helpful giving recommendations on things to do and there were soaps and hats for purchase in the front lobby. It was about a 30 minute drive to Banner Elk where there's a lot more to do/places to eat. We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.

While I could see this Campground really being amazing, unfortunately it seems like it's just not…read morebeing maintained. The hiking trails weren't even open for use (was told ownership is "working out the details" whatever that means). The lake was NASTY and beach a disaster. The sites were level and spacious but full of weeds and needed fresh gravel. Roads in were full of pot holes and ill maintained. It just felt very tired and needed some love and for the price we paid, I don't think it was worth it.

This is one of the smaller visitor centers on the Blue Ridge Parkway but significant due to its…read morelocation. It sits on the south side of the Linn Cove Viaduct and has a massive rendering of it centered inside. There is a small gift shop, handicapped accessibility, restrooms, and information regarding the short history of the Viaduct. There is ample parking as it is not a busy location and a small pathway to see the viaduct from other views. This location closes early so if you're looking for your NP stamp, plan ahead of time.

My original comment stands about the terrible confidence and treatment of campers at this campsite again if you'd like to be on the edge and be criticized and watched over every second of the day to be pounded by the representatives of d deserve Downbythe river, a lot of go ahead and stay there. I have no recommendations for you for this campsite. It is, as mentioned unfriendly hosts. I have been a safety director for many years And there was NO safety issue. In fact I had noticed several OSHA violations at this campsite which I have not yet sent to the NC DOL.

Plenty of nice trees provide shading with plenty of grass instead of dirt or muddy areas. They have a covered social area on the creek with nice big fireplace. This seems to be a gathering spot at night. Several rocking chairs to pull in front of the fireplace and relax. The area itself is very convenient to a lot of NC Mountain landmarks. The Blue Ridge Parkway is approx. 1.5 miles away, Linville Falls is a 10-12 minute drive, Linville Caverns is a 20 minute drive, Grandfather Mountain approx. 20 minutes, and Tweetsie Railroad is about 35 minutes. Bottom line is this is a very nice family campground, friendly staff, and great location. We have now visited twice and will be back.
