This place is a well kept secret and I may be making a mistake by writing this reveiw. It's a great place to go and relax, play pool (for FREE!), just release the stress of life. The furniture is a collection of many garage sale visits. They even have an out door area to enjoy these long awaited warm evenings. It will be our new hang out. read more

I'm part of a book group that has been meeting at the Ten Cat on weekday evenings and occasional lazy Sunday afternoons. The staff has been great - welcoming, friendly. The back room has been ideal for our group and the location works well for people using public transportation to get across town as well as the people who drive and need street parking. read more

More like someone's living room with a generous selection of drinks available if you just get up off the couch than a bar. I was there on a saturday night and was surprised at how not crowded the place was given how awesome this place is. I had a great evening and was so pleased to be able to just sit and have a conversation. and there were extra chairs stacked up that we could pull around when more people joined. The way the bar is layed out as a series of rooms one behind the other is kind of weird. Bar area. then pool table area. then pinball. then your grandmother's living room with a fireplace. then the back patio. but i dig it. especially grandma's living room and the patio. and a round of pinball for good measure. very reasonably priced drinks too. read more

It was up to me to plan my work's holiday party, and I'm so glad I thought of Ten Cat. The back room is awesome and FREE to reserve for a party. Everyone I talked to on the phone was helpful and friendly. I got there and the back room looked even nicer than I remembered: fireplace roaring, holiday decorations up, good ratio of seating to tables to standing room. Several bartenders helped us out and could not have been nicer. They were cool with setting up a drink ticket system for us if we brought the tickets (and I wasn't in charge of money but I'm hoping my bosses tipped generously!) We brought food and games and decorations, we were loud, and we had a blast. We have NEVER had a holiday party this successful or fun. I was getting props on "my party" all night, but I felt like Ten Cat was the one deserving all the praise. Atmosphere is key to making a bunch of coworkers actually enjoy spending time together, and Ten Cat killed it. read more

The most cozy spot in Chicago. Sometimes dogs are there! Usually the crowd is older, but I don't mind. Some nights are randomly busy, some are very low key. The staff is always kind, and so are the other patrons, and the outdoor patio is relaxing while we can use it. Also love the weird art gallery vibes out front. read more

What happened to this place? Used to be awesome! The bartender Chris really gave the place its personality. Here did she go? Now the service is just aweful and the only patrons left are obnoxious regulars. It's a shame. Great neighborhood bars are a dying breed and Chicago has lost a good one! read more

I've been here once and I loved the layout of this place. They also have 2 free pool tables and some arcade games. There's a great cozy place in back for quiet chit chat along with the back porch(didn't go out there..too cold!). Pool leagues do tend to take up the tables all night apparently and can be quite rude but the staff is great! They are all super friendly. This place is cash-only hence the 4 stars but I will def. be coming back. read more

i love this place. i can walk from my house and i can bring my dog in and they don't have 100 tvs blasting the cubs, sox, bears or bulls games. only 2 tvs and never sound...perfect. it's a nice dive bar with always friendly people and bartenders. read more

The bartenders and the clientele are very laid-back. No pretension. I come here to shoot pool, and the regulation-sized tables are an excellent resource for honing one's skills. There are regularly good pool players on the tables, so be prepared to get your butt kicked if you don't shoot pool. The drink prices are average, nothing to rant or rave about. They have a decent selection of beers on tap. No food here, but you can bring whatever food you want. The only gripe I have about the place is the music... It could use music that's slightly more upbeat and of other genres besides the old jazz that seems to be playing all the time. read more
