Spinach feta scone (4 stars): nice and savory alternative to your standard baked goods. Could use a little more feta but really the best part is that they will heat it up for you! This is the only cafe (non-franchise) in the area. It makes me sad because the coffee is pretty good. I walked in there one day with my mom, excited to have found a cafe in Shirley. I felt this very uncomfortable, cold, energy, but thought that maybe it was all in my head. The baristas kind of gave me this look like...just order and leave. I've since then been there a handful of times. Today being one of those days. I walked in through the back and 2 white gentlemen just stared at me...and not that good "she's hot" stare. It was definitely negative; one I've received from people there in the past. A sweet girl with braces took my order; said all the right things and handed it to me with a cover. Then a little red head girl gave me my second order; no cup cover or whip cream like I'd requested. She placed it on the table in disgust. I've never entered a place in New York (even though this is Long Island) and felt like I shouldn't be there. This is definitely that place though. I get the feeling that they don't really like..."color" in there, and I've never said that about a place before. They don't even hide it. It's unfortunate because it's a nice place with pretty good coffee. They could at least hide their "opinions" better. Especially to someone who's a regular there. Mind you not all the people that work there have made me uncomfortable. Just most lol. And the customers...yeah they'd definitely throw me out (physically) if they could. I think I'll just have to take my business elsewhere from now on. Sucks. read more

The best coffee! A little out of the way, but well worth it. The plain coffee, cold brew, soy caramel macchiato and dirty chai latte are my favorites. They also sell a nice variety of organic coffee beans to go from different regions of the world, which have become a staple at my house. Tip: If you order an espresso drink, expect to wait a couple minutes as you would at any other busy coffee shop. I usually get a plain black coffee if I'm in a rush. read more

It's like a mini Starbucks in Shirley! Great ambiance for a coffee shop. The staff is friendly and helpful. I don't know much about coffee, so I never know what to get. They help me with french press and latte questions, decisions, everything! They're the best! On days I can't decide what flavor to get, I order on the phone and have them surprise me. We love getting coffee from Tend. The Cinnabon latte is delicious and we really enjoy their frozen coffee frappes.

This is such a cute addition to Shirley. Very friendly staff here, and I love the flavors of coffee that they offer. Sometimes it's Nutella or Rainbow Cookie or Almond Joy, but whatever the flavor it is always delicious. The prices are a little high, it's about $4.00 in change for a small/medium sized coffee (grande at Starbucks size). But since it's not a chain and is a small business, I am not as angry about paying a bit more. I highly recommend coming here if you're a coffee lover. read more

Stopped here en route to the Hamptons while looking for a serviceable coffee spot that wasn't Dunkin/Starbucks/soulless chain joint. Tend is a locally owned/operated java joint that brews a fierce americano and does their own roasting onsite. They also retail about a dozen different (pure + blended) bagged coffees for home brewing. There is limited seating in and out and easy access to Route 27. Service is quick and friendly. I'd definitely stop here again whenever I'm rolling through the area read more
