The beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Enough that I was asking where she got the pillows. We all slept well. The pups got me up in the night and I took them for a short walk. The temp outside was cool, so I opened the window to let in some of the night air. The shower was interesting with the slanted floor. I liked the sliding barn door for the bathroom. The retro decor is inviting. I wish we could have stayed longer. They have a coffee shop in the Rodeo Mercantile. I discovered this after my husband and daughter had popped out to a local bakery to get us breakfast sandwiches. If we stay again, I'll for sure get a latte. This suited our needs. After lugging the sleds in my youngest tried to use one on the first tiny dune and the board became delaminated making it useless and meaning we had to lug it around while the kids shared the other two. Upon returning them, I pointed out that the board didn't even work wince and asked if they could do anything to make it right. The worker just trotted out the "no refunds" sign... a total rip off!

It is old, but works fine. There are so many cool spaces to hang out from the lobby to the old bar, the cafeteria, even every floor has an area with chairs and tables. It's an old but beautiful hotel. Our room was small but renovated. The curtains were so high it was tough to open and close them and the sink was rather tiny. However, the bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows, decent amenities, good water pressure and hot water. Good Wi-Fi. The breakfast had some tasty surprises like slices of kielbasa and apple juice in cartons. Not something we often see in our travels. I would definitely stay here again.

We came in the offseason for the area, which meant they were not showing a movie that might. We were, in fact, the only people there all night - no other guests and there was not even staff present...all rooms were opened via code lock provided via text. We cooked our own dinner in the state-of-the-art kitchen. We stayed in a very clean and new suite which had a queen bed, large bathroom, and top-quality amenities. A couple suggestions for the owners: the room was big enough to accommodate a king bed - would have been more comfortable. The fire pits are nice to have, but the small gas flame and the size of the pit meant you couldn't get close enough to be warmed by it...we were very cold and gave up quickly. Lastly, a BBQ grill would have been a nice option if you are going to encourage guests to cook on site. Other than that, really cool stay in an unexpected spot.

We were checked in by Elizabeth, who was just delightful, plus she was very welcoming to our dog and gave us great info on where we could walk Jake. (We chose the very grassy and clean Memorial Park just a short walk away.) She also mentioned the Sunflour Café down the street for breakfast, and it was AMAZING! Homemade, fresh everything, and the cinnamon roll might be the best pastry I've ever eaten. Our room was decorated with real books, duck decor, soft towels, and a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. I did have a little trouble with getting the correct water temperature in the shower (I was warned), and Elizabeth again was very helpful and apologetic that they hadn't gotten that fixed perfectly just yet. There is a bit of noise from the intersection just outside, but all in all, the three of us would love to stay here again.

I'm a fairly low maintenance traveler, especially when flying solo, so this simple motel checked the boxes for a one night stay. Price was comparable to nearby competitors, if not the best room rate in town. Huge plus! Dunes Inn is right on Main Street and within walking distance to several local restaurants. I arrived earlier than expected, and they were kind enough to have my room ready an hour early. For one person, the room was a good size. Brick wall was a bonus! Bathroom was small and in need of an overhaul. Noticeably short bath towels and I'm not even tall! Hangers, microwave, fridge, desk, TV, plenty of lighting, and storage. Bed was average and so were the pillows. If you're okay with a roadside motel, this place does the trick. Parking lot is small for the amount of rooms. Worth noting that even though you use a real key to enter your room, the doors lock automatically behind you. They do offer a free breakfast voucher at the cafe next door. Unfortunately I couldn't take advantage since I was catching sunrise and hiking at the park. A nice gesture though. This ain't the Ritz Carlton, nor is it trying to be. I'd stay here again if the room rates were still lower than others. Nothing wrong with it, nothing great with it!
