One of the best hotel experiences I've had in a long time. The owner could not be nicer or more helpful. I was there with my 93-year-old dad and the owner went above and beyond to make sure my dad was well accommodated. Staying here is like stepping back in time. It's an historic hotel and it has the perfect mix of keeping its original charm and the upgrades to make your stay more enjoyable. I loved the old-fashioned elevator!! So fun to operate. There are also convenient stairs nearby. It's located right in the main part of town. You can easily walk to several really good restaurants less than a block away!! There's also a bakery that's just a two-minute walk away! Location, location, location! It was really quiet. I heard zero noise from the hall or from other rooms. Didn't hear people walking above, nothing. Just peace and quiet and a very comfortable bed. There's also a good-sized refrigerator with a freezer in the room! Yeah, a freezer!! What a great perk. There's also a microwave and a coffee maker with coffee. Our bathroom was really well organized and the shower fixtures were upgraded. The Wifi was good and fast. Easy connection. They have a really nice free breakfast. It's simple, and it's perfect. I forgot something in my room without realizing it and had a call within 30 minutes of leaving that they'd found it. They really care about their guests! You can stay at a boring standard-fare hotel on the edge of town or in Alamosa, or you can stay here and have a much more memorable experience. It's like no other!

Needed a room for the night and this hotel was the most reasonably priced I located on Expedia along Highway 60 between Cortez and Alamosa, CO. The hotel is quite unique and historic with interesting items on display or still within the hotel (elevator, cash register, etc.). The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Parking is behind hotel and was secure. Breakfast was included and very good (real scrambled eggs, potatoes, Portuguese sausage, toast, cereal, muffin, etc.). Overall, I have very good stay for a decent price and more breakfast than I should have eaten.

Otis elevator from 1930! So fun...

What a great find? Not at all what we were expecting?! We rounded the corner and honest to gosh it was a real hotel. What a treat to discover that it is rightfully historic too. It is on the the National Register of Historic Places awarded by the US Department of Interior! It is well managed and the lobby, factor in Covid, reads very 2022. Which was efficient and appreciated. Thereafter, you get the tour and get ready to walk back in time in a great way. We chose a smaller room, tucked away from the street (super quiet) but still had epic AC, fridge, microwave and coffee pot. They still offer a cooked breakfast. It was our little haven for a few days while we rested and enjoyed exploring their local restaurants. Special shoutout for the elevator - very fun; it's not often you'll have the opportunity to experience one this old?! Also, we learned there is a Sandhill Crane festival in March where there is a remarkable number of birds during their migration. We will be back!

This is such a 1900s amazing hotel. All the decor was so welcoming and amazing. The hospitality was very sweet as well. On regular days prior to Covid they have live entertainment, bar, and area downstairs. Due to Covid, they gave us a breakfast baggie with water, fruit, muffin, and juice. The bathroom is tiny but adorable. The entire layout is rustic and antique. Perfect location near DQ. WE LOVED IT! And there's tv and air conditioning. And key locks.

We had a terrible experience . we got there little after 10pm and the owners reprimanded us for being late. The room is musty and there is a one unit in the room for air conditioning makes loud noise and hardly cools the room. on the second night I woke up at 1am feeling sick and can't breath I realized we have no power and no air. I tried to call the front desk but no one answered, I went down to look for help but couldn't find any one. The owners was very disrespectful the next day and refused to acknowledge the there was anything wrong. I wish I could put the clip of the front desk incident .

Small, clean room. However, no one is ever here. Impossible to get ahold of the front desk. The cafe never opened- ever. No continental breakfast even tho it says there is. The bar is only open a few hours a couple days a week. If you need something after check in, good luck. From what I saw, there are two people running the place. I am giving 3 stars because of the hotel history. It's really old and has great historical charm. And because no one was there, we had the run of the place. Kinda spooky at night, has a great antique elevator and old world fashionings. Probably will stay in Alamosa next time I visit. Mints Vista (the town) completely shuts down after 9. No bars, no food, nothing.

Pretty bar area with lots of cool woodwork and antiques

I've seen many negative reviews for this place that I feel fail to take into account the fact that the place was built in the early 1930's. Its quirkiness is its charm; its age is its appeal. If you want bland, standard rooms with "updated" aesthetics, this might not be your best option. But if you want a truly interesting stay with one of the most fabulous elevators around, this is it! Despite its age, it was exceedingly clean, and had enough modern amenities like wifi and flatscreen TVs to please. You may not be able to fit your ball gown in the weirdly narrow closet, but the super comfy bed and interesting hallway carpet make up for it. Yes, it was a bit eerie, especially in the middle of the night, but the staff was gracious, the towels were fluffy, and it's super conveniently located. Besides, eerie is fun!

I recently stayed here on a visit to Great Sand Dunes NP. This was a really cute and quirky motel…read moreand I absolutely recommend it to anyone, but especially families with little kids. Pros: Super cute setting with the historic drive-in. Cute artwork throughout and the actor names outside each room is a lovely touch. Rooms were cleaner than I expected. This was close to an hour drive to GSDNP - however, it felt shorter and was a BEAUTIFUL drive. Close to quaint downtowns with good breweries and restaurant options. Super friendly people. When I woke up and left my room to grab breakfast, I heard this strange baaahhhh noise - and BAM! Right outside the room as far as I could see- SHEEP! Right after I grabbed my to-go breakfast, this tall rancher came out with a big cowboy hat and rope, followed by 2 herding dogs to herd the sheep. It was a sight! The kids were ecstatic. I want to say - whether intentional or not - it is SO NICE of the rancher to drive his sheep up so close. It was an unexpected surprise and it honestly bumped up my mood for the rest of the day. What an experience! Suffice to say - this is a great deal and I highly recommend. Cons: Due to COVID precautions there was no hot breakfast (see breakfast room photo below). I was disappointment because I made my reservation via phone to Corporate and they mentioned that a hot breakfast bar was included. More than that though- what a beautiful view! I am sad to have missed out on breakfast there. That said - there are picnic benches outside and so...I still had that great view :) The movies playing that night were a Bon Jovi concert and Scoob. I had zero interest in watching a drive-in Bon Jovi concert - so the front desk attendant mentioned that from my room I would be unable to see Scoob well, so she switched my room out. Unfortunately - all of the rooms are set for one screen option - so even though I could kind of see Scoob from an angle (I could see Bon Jovi concert dead on), from the room, my only audio was the concert. You can hear the other screen if you park your car downstairs and listen to 88.1. OR - bring a radio. It would be nice if they left radios in the rooms. I kind of think it would be fun to make the 2 options like a classic movie and a family movie. The soaps are on the wall in the shower in a box-like container. I pushed super hard and was able to get body wash and conditioner, but I think mine was out of shampoo. That - or I didn't push hard enough..? Unsure. You have to push HARD.

The best I can say was the sheets appeared cleaned.

WONDERFUL! What a delightful place! It felt like we stayed…read morein a cozy inn or a great aunt's extra bedroom. The folks that are renovating this 1950's motel are doing a great job. We were checked in by Elizabeth, who was just delightful, plus she was very welcoming to our dog and gave us great info on where we could walk Jake. (We chose the very grassy and clean Memorial Park just a short walk away.) She also mentioned the Sunflour Café down the street for breakfast, and it was AMAZING! Homemade, fresh everything, and the cinnamon roll might be the best pastry I've ever eaten. Our room was decorated with real books, duck decor, soft towels, and a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. I did have a little trouble with getting the correct water temperature in the shower (I was warned), and Elizabeth again was very helpful and apologetic that they hadn't gotten that fixed perfectly just yet. There is a bit of noise from the intersection just outside, but all in all, the three of us would love to stay here again.

There was a dirty towel behind the door. The shower curtain rod was falling off the wall. The mattress pad was disgusting. No bedding for the pullout couch. When asked they gave us a dirty pillow. I'm sorry that's all we have was the response. We went for breakfast in the morning there was dry cereal, pastries, and juice available. Jason the front desk attendant who had his feet up on the desk in office and had no interest in helping us. The pool was also closed. I booked through Expedia they did not help AT ALL. Oh and there is NO refund because we stayed there for 6 hours and "completed our stay". We couldn't even shower because it was unsafe. When we arrived, I told the front desk attendant immediately about the shower curtain rod falling off the wall. He attempted to adjust it and said it should be fine. I have small children, and I do not want to be hit in the head nor do I want them to be. We paid $168 for a BIG HEADACHE. Everything expedia advertised for this was untrue no pool, no hot breakfast, not clean, not safe, and not comfortable. This place is disgusting, and I would avoid it at all costs. The manager was also less than helpful.
