Oh my god, the pour over. Best coffee I ever had. Specifically I got pour over with their rigoberto Herrera beans from Colombia. Just black. The blueberry flavors pop and stay throughout, it's so fruity and floral with some tea notes. A solid amount of chocolate flavor just adds to the complex symphony in each sip. It's actually blowing my mind. Not bitter at all, and no sourness. Perfectly extracted. Since it was my first time, they were extra nice and made some pour over with vilma chambi for me to try. Also very nice, perfectly extracted. Earthy, comforting like beans on toast kind of vibe. They roast the beans themselves at medium to light with a focus on what is best for expressing that bean. As I sit here and enjoy my coffee and pastry, they are roasting beans. A tad noisy, but really adds to the immersive experience of being in a coffee place. Atmosphere is awesome with a variety of types of seating (bar, individual small table, community table, etc). You can watch them make coffee, there's a tasting lab, and the roasting room. All open space, and you can see everything. Service is excellent and personable. I asked for recommendations and they knocked it out of the park. I overheard another customer telling them, "whenever you suggest something, you're always right." And making me another cup to taste is above and beyond. Highly recommend enjoying coffee at the establishment and taking your time. I wish this place wasn't so far out of my way. I just happened to be in this part of town. Don't go here too late if you want a pastry! We got the last 2. They were flakey and delicious. We wanted to split each in half and share, but they didn't have a knife. We had to do it with a fork, which pretty much murdered them in all their flakiness. I ordered a breve, but they didn't seem to know what that is. (Odd for a coffee place). What I received was a regular latte. Sigh...I'm a creamy girl. My husband is a mocha man so he got one of those. He said it wasn't very chocolatey but he appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. Initially his words were "It was fine". Maybe we're just Pacific Northwest coffee snobs, which is where we live. The quality of the roast was pretty good though. Not at all bitter. So I heard them asking anyone who asked for an iced drink if it was okay chilled, meaning cold unsteamed milk but no ice. This coffee spot is cute! Very stylish spot close to the art district near Colfax Ave. The staff are really friendly and energetic--however there are a few cons. The place is small so there's not a lot of seating. There seemed to be long lines too the entire time I was there (2hours) and disappointing was that there were no outlets to charge my laptop! Overall--my matcha was okay and so was the cinnamon role. I don't think I would go again since it's so small with no outlets--but cute place to check out at least once. read more

And then when the moment finally came, and I got my latte... it wasn't good... at all. Couldn't even tasted the coffee, so I tried my friend's drink, and it was as even worse. I entered perused around, looking at the menu, as this was my 1st visit... Amazing coffee shop!! This place is a coffee connoisseurs dream. I am not a huge coffee drinker so I got the spicy chai. I loved it and thought it was spicy and not too sweet which is a perfect chai in my mind. The special miso latte I thought also tasted great. The tahini chocolate chip cookie was incredible!! I had been to a different SB previously and wasn't crazy about that location but I liked the Lakewood location! They have a Learning Lab where classes and events take place (see website for class schedule) which is cool. The coffee is good. Rich, creamy and smooth. Here's my only issue: I ordered an iced mocha. They don't have ice. It wasn't that they were out. They don't have it at all. They offered to cool my drink with milk. And yes it was cool, but not cold. Ok I realize this is nitpicking but I would have preferred an actual iced drink, especially since it's like 500 degrees outside. read more

My family laughs at me because I'm so particular about my coffee. I've been to the Denver area a few times but haven't found anything I felt I needed to try. So my expectations weren't too high coming here, but I could literally live at the place. Although I got my coffee to go, the ambiance was great; coffee being roasted; room to hang out. The staff was friendly and actually enjoyed talking to me about coffee. You'd be surprised how many cashiers and baristas don't have a passion for coffee. My wife knew that I had found my happy place. If my stepdaughter ends up out here for college, you'll know where to find me. I didn't try any of the pastries, but my pour over was amazing! I came here on a Saturday morning to get some work done and it was busy and pretty crowded. I waited 10 mins to find a comfortable spot to set up with my laptop. Everything felt a bit overwhelming and the tables weren't being cleared or cleaned. It also seemed like people didn't know where they could bus their own cups and plates. After a while it got pretty chilly where I was sitting (2 tables away from the door). The coffee tasted fine but I could see grounds on my latte and I was wondering whether that was intentional? I think this might be a good spot to grab coffee to-go if you are in the area but I would be prepared if you are wanting to sit down and do some work in a relaxing environment. read more
