Big location but it wasn't busy. The woman doing the sampling was super friendly and the wines were cheaper here than any other winery we went to in the area. You get to sample from about 20 different wines and you get 3 or 4 for free (I can't remember, I sampled a lot of wine this day) and I got a bottle to go. Cute stop along our way. read more

This is a little hole in the wall winery. They are open every day. Samples are free so you will be able to taste before you buy! The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Every once in a while, you stumble upon a wonderful little spot. We happened to be driving up the highway and ran into a traffic jam when we noticed a billboard and decided check it out. Great call! The wine here was delicious. We made an afternoon out of a traffic diversion and ended up having a great time talking to the staff and enjoying the hilltop view. we stopped at Tennessee Valley winery to do a little winetasting. I found out about it. just doing a search online and it just so happened to be on the way to the restaurant we were going to for dinner so we decided to stop. Going up the driveway, at first we were like is this it ? but there was definitely a sign saying Tennessee Valley winery it just really didn't look like a Winery. It looks kind of like a shed so we went inside and there was a young guy in there and he let us know that samples were free and they worked on cash only tips which was fine. He was very knowledgeable about all the wines that we wanted to taste and was very friendly. The wines were all good. We ended up buying three bottles. we bought the BlackBerry and the bourbon, aged red and a sweet red. They also sell wine accessories and they also sell cheese from the sweet water farm down the road. The reason I don't give it five stars is because it definitely lacks ambience . it doesn't feel like a place where you're gonna drop 75 bucks for three bottles of wine, but that is how much we spent on three bottles of wine. it's great that the sampling is free and you can try as many of the wines as you want to. Just bring cash to tip your sommelier. read more

I've been to Tennessee Valley Winery 7+ years ago and bought a dry red wine. At the time I was not as knowledgeable about wines as I am now. I don't remember the taste. I was on my way to Georgia and decided to drop by. It's really easy to find because it's right off the exit. You turn right and drive up a steep hill. The tasting room is clean, small and cute. Simple décor, sold "gift items" and food as well. What I really appreciated the most was the wine tasting was free and unlimited. I was bummed that they were out of the dry reds. The only one they had in stock was a red blend with Catawba which I didn't like. Here is what I tried: -Chardonnay- A 2011 vintage, aged in stainless steel. A un-oaked, fruit forward, crisp wine that boasts hints of tropical and citrus flavors. -Riesling- A medium dry, crisp wine with delicious acidity and a vibrant, full flavor finish. Our most prestigious internationally awarded wine. -Country White-A medium sweet, native American Labrusca made from a high-toned Niagara grape. This wine has a straightforward candied muskiness, with aromas of lemon rind. -Vidal Blanc- A very fruity wine with aromatic notes of grapefruit and pineapple. A white French hybrid grape that is winter hardy and produces high sugar levels in cold climates with moderate to high acidity. -Mountain Blush- A slightly sweet, fruity, sour/acid blend of French Hybrids. Comparable to a white Zinfandel. My favorite was the Riesling because it was dry not sweet. I ended up getting a bottle to take home for $11.95 plus tax. Tennessee Valley also sells fruit wines/muscadine wines for those who are fans of sweeter wines. Their prices are very cheap starting at $11.95+, depending on what type of wine you get. I really liked the service and the owner was really nice, helpful and patient. I just wished they had more dry reds in stock. The experience was good and I will most likely come back. Hopefully they will have dry reds. :) read more

Really great wines. They have both sweet and dry wines which has been hard to find in TN. They have great Red and White wines.

This is owned by the sweetest family, the lady behind the counter was very welcoming and kind. We arrived 30 mins before the store opened and she allowed us inside and gave us a free tasting. The wines were amazing and you can tell that the family works hard to provide good quality to their customers. Our favorite was the white muscadine wine! read more

Driving on the interstate we saw a sign for this place. So glad we stopped for a glass of Riesling. Lovely tree lined road leads up to the winery where I enjoyed a glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful view. Excellent customer service will bring me back here! Visited the Tennessee Valley Winery because I was visiting a friend who lives in Lenoir City, and we both enjoy the sweeter types of wine. When we visited on a Sunday, we arrived right when the tasting room opened. We were greeted by the nicest South African man who was also the winemaker. Throughout the tasting, he was very informative, talkative, and had a great sense of humor. We had the most excellent time, one of the best wine tasting experiences in TN. The wines were all pretty good and the prices were very reasonable. They had some seasonal fruit wines, which I never heard about, but was eager to try. We ended up leaving with some bottles and some cheese from the cheese fridge made by a local farm. You can tell that this winery is a family owned business and I'm the type of person who wants to support these types of businesses. Please go visit them if you enjoy the sweet wines like muscadine and want to meet some friendly folks. read more

Stopped by on the way home from Gatlinburg because the gf likes wine. And I've recently started to enjoy those fruity wines. We sampled and picked up a couple reasonably priced bottles. Wine in East Tennessee Third stop of a little driving tour one Saturday. This stop is practically right off the highway not far from West Knoxville. The facility has a great view east toward the hills. Tried a bit of everything while jawing with one of the owners (great guy). Took home bottles of their Cherokee Red and Tennessee Red, which is a semi-sweet (for her) and a dry wine (for me). Nice stop at a nice facility, friendly people and drinkable wine. . read more

We found this winery while driving from Lexington, KY to Florida and it made a great pit stop on our road trip. Tastings are free and there are plenty of picnic tables to bring a picnic and enjoy the view. The lady pouring was very knowledgeable about their wines and friendly. They specialize in sweet wines and have a number of fruit wines worth trying. I'm not a huge fan of sweet wines but they had some good ones. Definitely try the Black Velvet, it's a local favorite. I also recommend checking out all the local items in the shop; there are some great cheeses and handmade pottery. read more

Totally random find on our long drive from NOLA to Western MD. Saw the sign off the highway and decided to swing by. Tasted some wines and OMG they were surprisingly great! Especially the Cherokee Red (sweet red with robust concord grape flavor). I was hoping for more conversation and a more interactive wine tasting, but a few groups showed up at the same time and were louder. My husband and I did a few tastes and asked for a recommendation for a gift for someone who loves dry reds. We did enjoy listening to the other's stories, just felt a bit ignored overall. The wines are delicious! I used the sweeter red muscadine for sangria for Thanksgiving and it was perfect. In fact, I have to go buy more to take back to Washington with us! read more

We stumbled across this winery on our way through Tennessee. The vineyard is small and the building looked uninviting. There was only one other car besides ours. We decided to give it a shot, walked in and the lady at the counter was super inviting towards us, informative and super sweet. The muskadine (sp) wine is amazing, all were good. Tastings were free too! They ship their Wines as well (huge plus for me.) This winery is a must, we will make it a point to swing by every time were driving through!! My wife and I stop here every time we come to this area of Tennessee. They are very close to I-75 so it's really easy to stop by if you are on the road and just passing through. We inevitably buy several bottles of various wines. Our favorite is Country Red. read more

I found this little winery several years ago on my way to a meeting in Gatlinburg. I was new at tasting wine but fell in love with not only this wine but this winery.
