I think this is a really fair rating. They spent a lot of time talking to us the first time we went…read morein, gave us samples, really helped. We were able to choose a cabinet and countertop pretty quickly. The orders were all as expected. The cabinetmaker's work is good, and it was easy for our woodworker to install the cabinets. Our stone countertops look beautiful, and they are cut really nicely. As far as craftsmanship and timeliness, everything was expected. Brock was very quick to respond to me about my questions. I had a lot of questions. I'm not trying to discount the frustrations in these reviews. They are also real to some extent. Remodels and building can be extremely stressful, requiring decisions and money (lots of money sometimes). I won't lie if I say I haven't been tempted to give vendors bad reviews because of timeliness and lack of response. The key for me was to really try and reach out and ask questions and get answers that helped me. That didn't mean they'd be faster or cheaper. It just meant I knew what was going on. Now that I have a little distance from this phase of our project, I can say that I am happy with the work and the options that Mountain Modern gave us. They did the work that we paid for, and they did it well.

Great selection and they helped guide us through design and installation of custom kitchen cabinets and countertops. We love the results. Also, they helped with unique bathroom tile finds (3 bathrooms) and no delays in getting the tile (hooray!). Mountain Modern is awesome in everyway. Stop looking, call Brock & Caprice.

We had our kitchen remodeled using the contractors and staff at the Sacramento Kitchen Mart…read morefacility. It's hard to know where to begin because the experience with KM is so different from that experienced with typical contractors. Communication. Typically a major frustration with contractors was in fact excellent with KM. Emails and calls were returned in a timely manner and they go to great lengths to explain the process and provide a detailed timeline. Duration of work. We had gotten estimates of 4-6 months to complete our remodel; KM was finished in a little over a month. They stuck to their schedule (despite problems that arose with suppliers) and always communicated any changes that were required. They handled all of the permitting requirements, and in Davis that is not a small task. Notable is that a KM staffer came to the house the day of final inspection and looked at the whole house for potential problems. He replaced ALL of our smoke detectors at no cost just to make sure there were no problems with the inspection. The Davis inspector was very impressed with the work and passed the job without any concerns. Quality of work. We had superb craftsmen work on our project; John and Zachary and Joe were all just excellent. They took pride in their work, showed up on time, and always communicated what they were doing. They took great pains to minimize dust and overall mess. Huge sheets of plastic were placed floor to ceiling to localize the dust and debris. Sheets of protective material were placed on the floor. Everything was done in a professional manner. The supervisor of our project, Edgar, was remarkable in watching over the project and being there whenever needed. Sourcing of materials. KM can provide pretty much everything you need with regards to cabinets, fixtures and some appliances. The quality of all materials from KM was excellent and so much more convenient than searching it out on your own. I have to add, however, that their recommended appliance source, A-1 appliance, was very disappointing. A-1 failed to order our rangetop despite it being paid for well in advance, and their installers were incompetent and rude. Our project foreman, Edgar, intervened and was a lifesaver in getting a rangetop in time to prevent a major delay, and in fixing the poor installation provided by A-1. Cost. We had many estimates for our remodel and KM was far from the highest. Their estimate was very accurate and very reasonable considering the quality of work, convenience, and the speed with which the work was done. In summary, Kitchen Mart stands way way above the pack when it comes to the often tedious and stressful process of remodeling your home. They offer a one stop solution, do superb work at a reasonable price, and complete the work in a very timely fashion. We plan to have them do our bathrooms and in fact would not consider anyone else.

Here's my original review: Chet had ambitions to expand…read morebeyond doing decks and claimed he was capable enough to build a garage, replace windows, install new siding, and more. I have windows and doors that leak whenever it rains. The roof leaks where Chet's construction meets the original roof. Snow blows in through the corners of exterior doors. Deadbolts do not lock because they don't align with strike plates. Screws on the deck protrude above the surface because they were not driven completely flush. Electrical outlet wall plates are missing and some outlets are missing screws to hold it securely in the box. A window cracked while they were installing siding and trim, but Chet claimed it was already cracked and refused to take responsibility. Chet's crew locked themselves out of my house when I was out of town, so they kicked the front door in - they never replaced or repaired the door frame. I was picking up cigarette butts and trash around the house and on my property for several weeks after Chet's crew was "finished." Windows were smeared with wood stain and never cleaned. If details and quality work are important to you, avoid Chet, Deck Envy and NXT LVL. If you want to help pay for Chet's fancy cars and expensive shoes, by all means, hire these clowns. This is my update after Deck Envy claimed they never did work for us: April 19, 2024: Rich Fougner and Gregg Betonte, representing themselves as Deck Envy's "new management," called my cell phone. They stated they were calling in response to this Yelp review. They asked, "Can you give us a chance to correct the situation?" April 22, 2024: Rich and Gregg visited my house. They took out their phones and photographed the problems. Before leaving, they promised to fix these problems. May 16, 2024: Gregg emailed, asking me to take down the review before he sends a crew to fix anything. I told him I would gladly take down the review, but only after the problems were addressed. I never heard back from Gregg nor anyone from Deck Envy, until December 20, 2024 - the response to my original review. I have a copy of the contract. Job Number 424. Signed by Chet Luedtke, dated 11/08/19. I have copies of invoices, too. For example: Invoice 8, Job Number 424, dated July 9, 2020. I'm sure Tahoe Donner has your company on record as the contractor, as well. Perhaps if your records are incomplete, you can follow up with Tahoe Donner's office to confirm. Deck Envy's claim that they never did work at this property is untenable.

Construction…read morebegan in late winter 2024, showing great initiative by Deck Envy to move the project forward. Although design approval and permits from Tahoe Donner were still in progress, this provided an opportunity to refine plans and ensure compliance. Tahoe Donner temporarily paused work to align with their processes, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining community standards. During this time, communication challenges with the former Deck Envy Project Manager arose, which added some stress to the process. However, these hurdles were eventually overcome, with Tahoe Donner granting permit approval and work resuming. The project was back on track, setting the stage for a successful completion. The good news is that with the resumption of work, I began to see that I was getting a high-quality job. During this time, Deck Envy went through a significant re-structuring with management and personnel changes. The new team was much more responsive to my inquiries, and even began sending me project updates without me having to request. The project completed on time and on budget, and I am extremely satisfied with the 'new' Deck Envy and the work that they did. Deck Envy did an impressive job of reorganizing and moving forward in a timely manner during my project. I would recommend Deck Envy for future projects.
