We came to Tequila Mockingbird on our last night of vacation based on the recommendations of two friends and we were not disappointed. Happy hour is from 3-6pm, and we arrived around 5, so we each got discounted house margaritas - which I promise were NOT discounted in flavor or alcohol content! I also ordered the Hawaiian Punch margarita which was plenty strong and delicious. By the time that one was gone, autocorrect was not able to help me while texting my sister, so it did its job. We started with an order of guacamole which was good, but we both felt needed salt. I ordered the pick-two enchilada plate - I got a cheese enchilada and a chicken enchilada, and I also ordered a side beef crunchy taco. ALL were delicious. The only thing I wish had been clear was that the chicken enchilada came with verde sauce - I'm not usually a fan of verde sauce, but oh my gosh, this verde sauce was ver-delicious. In fact, I'm glad it wasn't clear on the menu, because I would have asked for red sauce, and I'm pleased I got to try it without knowing any better. :) My husband ordered the steak tacos and said they were good too! Service was attentive and friendly, and the food was great, and the drinks were strong, so we will definitely be back next time we are in town!! read more

Let's keep it simple, since Tequila is a simple thing... Pro's: Margharita Flavors on point (but be careful of the brain freeze, its gnarly), The "fishbowl", burrito's, fresh salsa, friendly staff, clean bathrooms. Con's: Food is of poor quality, the spicy salsa (that we paid extra for) is NOT spicy, expensive, rather crowded. To sum it up: if you're going in to have a drink at the bar and the burrito that is topped with creamed corn.. you are in for a treat! Had a really great experience! I have a gluten allergy and the server was so helpful, kind and knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I both got cheese enchiladas- they were so yummy!! Well...the big sign is cool and recognizable...food was bland, server was inattentive (I had to flag her down for a drink after 10 minutes - I do drink the first one fast though, but this seemed a bit much). Nothing good wise was 'good' or star worthy, it was just there. Drinks were very good and priced well for beach drinks - entree food (I ordered fajitas, wished I'd gotten the burrito) was WAY overpriced for quality and quantity, but apps and burritos were good...Great bar, but restaurant left a lot to be desired...my wife tried to add grilled onions and peppers and was told the kitchen could not handle it...seriously??? On the up side, there was an obnoxious party at the bar, being far too loud, even for a tequila bar, and were asked to move to a table and then went to an isolated area in the back of the restaurant... The service was prompt. House margarita's were delicious! The salsa was fresh and not real spicy. The guacamole was ok; I've had fresher. The tacos and enchiladas came with rice and beans. Stopped in here with Jess on St patty's day. There was a decent crowd, not as much as a few other spots we were at but we were able to score some seats at the bar. We waited for a long time be acknowledged then ordered two beers and chips with salsa. The salsa was amazing. But both really enjoyed it. Fresh, chunky tomatoes were key. We were looking to order some tacos but unfortunately we weren't acknowledged for about thirty minutes. We got our check and went on our way. An OC favorite, we had to visit even while staying in Bethany Beach. Everything here is delish as always. The salsa is fresh with a kick. The guac is just as fresh but you may wish to kick it up by mixing some of the salsa in it. Queso is thick. No runny, weak stuff here. I had the spicy beef hard tacos with rice and beans and a side of their Diablo sauce. The spicy beef was juicy but drained. Sprinkling the Diablo sauce atop the lettuce and cheese completes a heat that's a slow burn. Enjoy! Others had the steak taco and Big Juan. Both were delightful but either be hungry or ready for left overs. Make this one a regular stop! read more

This place exceeded my expectations. The highlights were the one time complimentary pick that came with the chips. I ordered fajitas, but I got to pick wild caught tuna as the meat. It was very tasty. My wife raves about the queso, which I didn't try. My only criticism is that the tortillas tasted store bought - and if you've ever been to a place that has hot freshly made tortillas, it's hard to go back. Having been to more authentic Mexican restaurants this place is a bit of a disappointment. Stopped by for dinner on an off season Saturday evening. We were quoted a 20 minute wait (we had a fairly large party) and we were seated quicker than that. The menu has a variety of options, including a kid's menu. There is not an "a la carte" menu, which was a little disappointing as I normally just order a couple enchiladas off of that since we like to get queso as an appetizer. They gave us two small dishes of salsa, both were very tasty but one was definitely hotter than the other. We ordered a large queso, which came in a really big bowl but there weren't many chips. The queso was delicious though! I ordered the enchilada meal (chicken) and those were good. It came with rice (tasty, but could only eat a little bit) and retried beans (didn't even get to try). Our server was very nice. Glad we tried this place out. I would recommend it and would go again. The one thing that would make it better is if there was an a la carte option read more

I've been going here ever since I've been going to Ocean City. I dare say that this is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant. The margarita was utterly amazing. It was made with fresh strawberries, and it was very smooth. The nachos were piled so high, and my fiancé and I couldn't finish them. They were absolutely lovely. They had all of the trimmings. However, when we visit next, we will try to order them with queso if possible. My chimichanga was a work of art. I have zero complaints. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks. Went here for lunch in the off season in late November. We looked up their menu and called and was surprised that they had no lunch specials. Their online menu had no prices listed. This can usually raise a red flag that maybe the prices are high. Wife picked up the order and asked if chips and salsa is included. Was told only for dine in not carryout. This was a turnoff. It's the off-season so I would expect establishments to give a little if a customer requests something inexpensive as chips and salsa. Can't imagine customers are waiting out the door at 12:00 on a Thursday in late November. Especially when our lunch cost $44. My item alone was $24. Crazy expensive for an off season lunch item. We go to Tequila Mockingbird every time we are in Ocean City (which is at least 3 times a year) We love the food. The tacos are huge and delicious. We usually switch between the chicken, steak and beef. The quesadilla's are amazing as well. You gotta have a Margarita while you're there! There are at least three reasons to go here - the margaritas, the chips and salsa and the soup. Sadly, the food is not up to par. Had a burrito and it came with shredded cheese on the top but it wasn't melted. You can get the same type of food at Taco Bell and for less money. read more

This place used to be a staple for my family whenever we visited OC, but after a few years away it seems like this place has gone the way of other popular locales and become a tourist trap. The hostess told us it would be 40-50 minutes to seat our party of 8. We sat at the bar and had several margaritas and beers. The bartenders were fast, if not super friendly, but the margaritas were really over-sweet and they put salt on every one even though half the ones we ordered should have been without. After nearly an hour and a half, and the hostess telling us we were here next big party, homegirl walked into the bar and called for a party of 10 who had been there a shorter time than us. Not cool. Our waitress was fine, but she was definitely rushing us, even though it was almost 9pm by the time we sat down to eat. We ordered a few buffalo chicken tortilla pizzas which used to be our go-to dish here, but they were really gooey and under-seasoned. I got the braised beef tacos, which were huge, but my rice was cold and the beef, even though advertised as "slow braised" was also strangely flavorless. If you like overpriced, oversweetened, kitschy margarita drinks and waiting for 90+ minutes for a table in a restaurant full of shrieking babies, this is your spot. It's a shame because this place used to be really baller. read more

Service was attentive, the over all feel of the restaurant was a little old and dated, it "felt" like we were in a strip mall... I had the rocko tacos, they were good. I have not been in tequila Mockingbird for several years. I stopped in there today because my wife wanted Mexican food for dinner and we were close. What a Jewel!!!! First let me say Hi I am a Spice guy and for the first time in all my years in Ocean City something that was described as hot and spicy was actually hot and spicy. The house made habanero salsa was very very good and spicy. It wasn't my level of spicy but it was way way above everybody else's. The regular salsa that came with the chips was excellent just enough cilantro just enough salt it was damn near perfect. And I got an education. Previous to my visit the only thing I knew about tequila was it made me act stupid. My wife got into a conversation with the bartender, Lisa, about tequila and we learned about the different way tequilas are aged and made and seasoned and it was very impressive. Coming out of the pandemic hopefully a bunch of new people will be coming to Ocean City if you're a Mexican food fan or a tequila fan this is a must stop. read more

I got the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and they were fresh but very bland. My husband got soft shell tacos which came huge and the tortilla itself was a bit strange. No lime or radish in sight. I should have known since no one was speaking Spanish anywhere in the restaurant which had a cheesy over the top atmosphere as one would expect with a name like Tequila Mockingbird. We are long time customers at this beloved restaurant. When we ate there today, we were surprised to hear that their menu had changed. In the last 10 years, I do not recall any menu changes. I was even more surprised and gravely disappointed to see that virtually the only menu change was smaller servings of apps with a much bigger price tag. We can get table side guacamole at our local Mexican restaurant that is three times the size and as equally delicious for 4 bucks less then the updated menu. I've always enjoyed this place, but at this point I'll be looking for a new Mexican place in OC. Food was the same as always, drinks were good, service was extremely lacking. We were given the chips and salsa (first basket on the house), we also ordered a large queso which comes with chips too. Well, since we already had chips on the table, we were not given the chips that came with the queso. We were not able to eat much of the queso because we ran out of chips and it took a while to track down someone to bring more chips. The queso had cooled by this point and was no longer 'dippable'. Toward the end of the meal my parents and I were finishing up our drinks and picking at the remaining chips and salsa and the busser was reaching around us to wipe down the table and taking dishes that were not finished. This was my first visit to this restaurant, very friendly and patient staff (we were a party of 12), and I loved the queso! I ordered the frozen strawberry margarita and whoa was that thing strong! The steak in my tacos was great, I liked the rice and beans but holy salty Batman when it came to their after taste. I didn't think the prices were unreasonable at all for a beach vacation destination. Be prepared to wait, we had a reservation due to our number of people in our group, but the wait when as long as 45 minutes on a Wednesday night. read more
