Pretty good vibe in this cantina, good menu and very upbeat for a tourist trap. Visited the night after Cinco de Mayo And the restaurant was pretty dead Chips and salsa was good and we added the guacamole and the queso sides, the others selected different street tacos and I ordered the smothered rib eye burrito. The burrito was very under whelming and the rice in the burrito was not cooked properly and was not cooked through. Couldn't really enjoy it. The worst part was 2 out of 3 of use ended up getting sick afterwards and spend the over night and all morning hugging or stuck on the toilet. Overall 3/5 () I am conflicted on what to rate this place to be honest. From the outside, it really doesn't look that inviting but I am glad I did choose to go in. It's hard to find decent vegan/vegetarian options in Ocean City. I found this place attractive as they had a dedicated vegan menu for us and also had multiple options for street tacos. (Food - 1.5/2) We ended up trying multiple vegetarian tacos as we really liked them the first time. They have this fillable forms that you check off to customize your tacos with your favorite proteins, add-ons, sauces, salsas, and sides. It's not a long wait either, so once you give the checklist to your waiter, they turn it around real quick. I should note that the spicy sauce that we asked for was the highlight to add flavor. Otherwise, the dishes seem to be underspiced. My son enjoyed his kids quesadillas with a free toy to take home at the end of the day. That small action was enough to make him happy. (Drinks a 0.5/1) The drinks were just average. They didn't feel amazing nor did they blow me away. It was overly sweet and lacked the punch. (Service and Decor - 1/2) As for the service, it's fairly relaxed so it could come off like they don't care. However, I took it like they were just being cool and not overly pushy. Though a bit more formal friendliness couldn't hurt. The inside though can be improved as it seemed a bit outdated and too dark even at 5PM. Some better lighting and refreshed decor can change the highlight of this place. Overall, this is a decent find for vegans in the area. Not too sure if I would comeback again in future though. I had tried Papi's before for a takeout meal, and had a bad experience. The bowl I got wasn't very good, so I wasn't motivated to go back. We decided to give dining in a try last weekend it was completely different! We got seated and then saw a happy hour deal, but at the bar only. After waiting a few minutes and not having our server come anyway, we headed to the bar. We had great service at the bar and enjoyed the drink deals. We each got a meal and both were really tasty. Big Papi's fan and was excited to visit there location in Ocean City. They had great off season deals like an $11 burrito and happy hour. Service was great but food was pretty cold. The server took it back and heated up our cheese was still not great but better. Made a fresh burrito and it was a lot better! Sangria and margarita was delicious. Truly shocked to find this good of Mexican food in a beach town! This place knows how to pack in the flavor and serve it fresh with a smile. Portions were large and craveworth. The stand out for us was the steak taco salad! The steak was well seasoned and tender and the bright and fresh notes from the vegetables in the salad was delightful. 9/24/25 - Tonight we headed for another of the Ocean City local Mexican taco joints. This one was called Papi's and its right on the main drag. I ordered a Mission Style Burrito with beef and my wife ordered a Birria Chimichanga with steak. Apologies for not having a pic of these. I got distracted The good: The place has a lovely Mexican cantina feel to it with the obligatory large bar and welcoming lighting. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our waitress spent a lot of time explaining everything and made suggestions based on her favorites and what was on special for the evening. And the food comes very quickly too! The bad: they start by bringing a nice bowl of chips with salsa in a small plastic cup. The chips are homemade and definitely quality. The salsa is delicious with very little heat but lots of onion, garlic and cilantro flavors. The problem here is the the plastic cup barely covers a quarter of the chips. And I am not the biggest fan of a sealed plastic cup. When was this salsa made? How long has this been sitting in the fridge? It's a poor way to present food and puts questions in the mind of diners. My burrito was fine. It was flavorful and stuffed with beef, cheese, rice, refried beans and peppers with a delightful red salsa sauce served on the side. It comes in a soft flour tortilla and is plated with pico de gallo. The portion is somewhat small. It's enough to satisfy you for sure but if you are looking for leftovers the next day, this shouldn't be your choice. My wife's chimichanga had bigger issues however. It comes deep fried with a drizzled white sauce on top. It had all the same stuffing as mine but her meal must have bounced around a bit in the fryer causing the inside to have a mixed and unappealing look to it. There was very little you could identify. The big deal breaker for her was the steak. Many of the steak pieces were grisly and inedible. Maybe the bar was set too high at last evening's dinner, but tonight's meal just didn't measure up. My mom and I had a wonderful experience at Papis Taco Joint in Ocean City, Maryland on Saturday, December 13 around 6:00pm. Our server, Sean, was absolutely incredible. He was so warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. His service truly went above and beyond and made our visit even more enjoyable. We ordered the Beyond Meat tacos, and they were delicious. As vegetarians, we were thrilled to see a Beyond Meat option on the menu, which is not something you find at many restaurants, and it meant so much to have a flavorful, thoughtfully prepared vegetarian choice. Between the amazing food, the inclusive menu options, and Sean's outstanding service, this was a fantastic dining experience. Went here during the off season apparently as it was across the street. The service was a little slow but nothing crazy. Food was tasty but the usual small portions and high prices just wears thin. Cheese enchilada / 3 small ribeye tacos, a hard cider and a hard lemonade was $45. Maybe that's normal but I left hungry which is never a good thing in my view. First, I want to say that our waiter, Kellen, was fantastic! A group of 7 of us had a variety of tacos...cod, carne asada, and chicken tinga. They were all delicious, although I now know that soft corn tortillas fall apart...I'll get flour next time. One person had a chorizo quesadilla, and loved it. The only problem came with the side dishes. For about $8-$10, you get two tacos...nothing else. If you want rice, it"s $2.50 for the small or $4 for the large. Same for the beans. Now I was there with teenagers...they wanted 4 tacos each. Fine...so the $8.50 tacos became $17. One portion of rice and beans would have been plenty...but the restaurant doubles that, too. So all of a sudden, your dinner becomes $27! Nowhere on the menu does it say that the sides get multiplied. All it asks is if you want 4, 6, 8, 10,or 12 tacos. If you had a really big appetite and wanted 12 tacos and rice and beans...you'd spend an extra $25 for your sides! Taco dinner for 7 cost $199.41! We'll go again ..but we'll order differently. read more

The food was trash the drinks were trash too . I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It had a "Mexican cheese" that was definitely it mozzarellas it was nasty. The salad on the side was the delicious and had flavor. The jalapeño cornbread with strawberry jam. Had actual bits of corn in them, they tasted terrible and were dry. The BIRRIA TACOS weren't good. Wow! Who knew you could find such authentic Mexican food in Ocean City? We stopped by off season for a take out order. Everything was ready when we got there and no errors. The restaurant looked fun- wish we had stayed! We got Al Pastor tacos, authentic style, which were incredible! Loved that they were topped with fresh toppings including nopales. The Margarita was terrible. Paid for a premium tequila. The mix tasted like Cuervo bottle mix. Our drinks had three ice cubes in them. I think they poured this out of a large decanter. Honestly, The food is not flavorful, the Rojo salsa is basically tomato sauce. If you're used to "white people tacos" this is your place. Also, the entrees are like when you fly with Spirit airlines, you pay for everything, to have meat included in your burrito that an additional charge. We have been going to ocean city for the past 3 years in valentines weekend and Papi's Tacos has been the place and eat. They have flavorful food, and most of all they have a great selection of vegetarian options and a menu specifically for gluten free, and vegan option as well. Recently came here while staying in ocean city for a family vacation and was craving Mexican food but this place was a complete disappointment. It's not an authentic Mexican joint but given the area and its clientele, it's not a very diverse area so not everyone would actually know what real Mexican food is. We ordered the esquites which was extremely far off from the real thing. It was drowning in crema and you could barely see the corn in it. Next up we ordered a chimichanga, carnitas quesadilla, chicken tenders and a cheesesteak torta. Everyone at my table was underwhelmed by the food including the kids eating the chicken tenders!! The quesadilla was entirely too salty and I could feel the sodium surging through my body then the chimichanga with chicken tinga was TOO SPICY! As a Hispanic family we can deal with the heat but this was too much then the torta was also too salty as well. Nothing tasted extraordinary, everything felt like it came from a Chinese carry out including the presentations. If you're a Hispanic family looking for genuine Hispanic food please don't go here because you will be disappointed you spent so much to not enjoy anything. Service was terrible. Server walked past us about 10 times without checking in on us. Drinks were never refilled the entire time we were sitting. We sat for about 20 minutes just waiting for the check to be brought to us, and that was about 25 minutes after we were done eating. Food was just okay. Some things good some things not so good.
